Reconsider coming here!! I work in the food and beverage industry in downtown Charleston while going to graduate school, I understand that busy shifts and misplaced tickets happen. However, a bad day, terrible management, and cold food will prevent me from ever coming back or recommending Ruby Sunshine. We sat at the bar and our food came out 45 minutes later, which would be fine but it came out VERY cold as well. Our server (she was wonderful, but said today had to be her last day because of low restaurant/food quality) had to ask the manager to refund our ticket, and the manager agreed to only slightly discount one dish. The manager, then would not even speak to us or acknowledge us after the fact. Everyone seated at the bar complained about wait times to which the manager snapped at one man and told him, "it's Sunday. The problem is nobody wants to work." The "manager" herself was making drinks, serving tables, and didn't have any energy or effort to expend on putting out systematic restaurant problems. The manager needs to re-consider accosting customers and blaming an overcrowded restaurant on guests. Respectfully, she needs fired, demoted, or re-trained. The resolution that would make patrons feel welcomed and appreciated would have been to talk with us about the order, discount the ticket, and not blame the staff for restaurant problems. If the kitchen was behind, new customers should have been put on a wait or if multiple people called out and couldn't work, then not seating the entire restaurant if the result would be subpar food and service. Even after being open nearly half a year, this restaurant has a lot of integral problems, beginning with management and ending with an inexperienced staff. Be warned. read more

Worst dinning experience in my life. We joined the waitlist online that had a wait of 20 minutes. When we get there they say I'm not on their waitlist and probably picked the wrong location but I got multiple text for the Savannah Hwy location confirming my check in. At this point no big deal we wait 20 additional minutes for a table. However, our server took 30 minutes to get our drinks to us after sitting behind us flirting with her boyfriend at a booth and didn't get up to get our drink until she saw us looking at her. We proceeded wait an hour and half for our food with no communication from our server one what's happening. I guess they were waiting for the chickens to lay the eggs? We finally get our food and our server barely checks in. We get the check and again she disappears. Overall, food was fine drinks were awful, mimosas were flat and warm and the service is absolute garbage. This all would be justified if the place was packed but there were at max 10 tables in the whole place with 2 servers and a bartender. What is the staff doing? My advice is tighten up your service to make this place worth anything. read more

Great experience at Ruby Sunshine. Our party of 2 sat at the bar during the bustling brunch. Greeted with super friendly service we kicked off with boozy coffee and later some margarita's. All were excellent. As for food we ordered candied bacon, fried green tomatoes and two specials, migas and hot honey chicken. All of the food was really well prepared and tasty. We finally made it in after facing a 90 minute wait a few weeks ago due to two large parties (8 and 12) sitting down right before we got there. We sat at the bar and the service was a bit slow due to being crowded. We placed our order as soon as we could. Our app (French toast bites) came out quick and mains were about 30 minutes behind that. The food is very good and good portions. We had the biscuits and gravy and then the peacemaker with the eggs cochon and OG Benedict. The biggest complaint is that the restaurant just isn't staffed or ready to handle the type of traffic they're getting. You can tell the staff is doing the best they can but when they're getting slammed by large parties just be prepared to wait read more

I was excited to try this for brunch and while it was very good, it was not great. It is not a brunch I will seek often but I would like to visit again. We started with the Pig Candy Bites which were obviously delicious. How can you go wrong with bacon and a sweet glaze? It was decadent. We also had the Seasonal Beignets. They were also good. I probably could have and should have stopped there. Alas, I didn't. I added The Trifecta. It is "'Taste of Ruby' featuring one serving of eggs cochon, chicken st. charles and bayou shrimp benedicts". It was also good but too much for me. Server provided no warning or information along the way, which made it seem like business as usual even though this was our first time in. Im a regular here! yes pastkikg is slightly small and might not look too welcoming but they are semi new and that is an expensive fix! you can't beat the quality of food and prices and I'm sure once the owner can afford it he will fix it up! I always order two things because it's soooo good I can't just be satisfied with 1 thing lol call me a chubby if you would like but please give this place a shot! they are very sweet and genuinely like vhildren! my babies always get extra sweet treat! I worked in food in bev for a long time and I'm paying attention to cleanliness and this place is very good in my book yes defini not chef Ramsey kind of joint but also 10 times cheaper! so disregard all those "sad" reviews.... those people probably eat Taco Bell and think that that's is good :) give it a shot you will not regret it read more

Friendly staff! Food is super tasty! The bacon bites app is a sweet starter! Great serving size and variety of menu items keep us coming back. It's a busy place and they stay attentive amidst the chaos on weekends. It's nice seeing the same staff every time, too. We always put our name on the waitlist which helps with our place in line and they have a validation code for parking. Definitely recommend for low key quick breakfast or a group brunch! First time on Saturday morning. 45 min wait but not sure why because there were so many empty tables. The service was slow but they were good and nice. This is why 4 stars. The food was good! My hubby had 3 little piggy omelette. He loved it and said it was fluffy and held together nicely. I had the trifecta-three different bennies. All were good in their own right. All were on a biscuit half which were nice and fluffy for easy cutting. The pork cochon was by far my favorite. Tender pork and perfect hollandaise sauce. The shrimp Benedict was good but the shrimp could've been cooked a bit longer. Good flavor. The fried chicken one was good as well. Tender chicken, also good flavor. My family and I had a late brunch here today. I ordered their special which was crawfish egg Benedict. The dish was supposed to include fried green tomatoes and corn maque choux. Unfortunately, those two items were not on my plate. Our server didn't seem too interested in making sure we got our full orders. We had to ask for the potatoes that granddaughter ordered as well as silverware. The food was really good but having to remind the server that we missing food items was frustrating. Excited for a new brunch spot in our neighborhood and made a reservation online but decided to drop by an hour into waiting to let them know we were there. The hostess (who was on her phone when we walked in) rolled her eyes when we gave our names and said "yeah, it will be a minute". We finally sat and ordered and when the food came one of us waited a good five minutes for our meal to come after the others had been delivered. Our server was nice but we did have to ask for refills more than once. Undercooked food! I've been to the downtown location and love it, but the west Ashley one failed me. Cinnamon bites were so inconsistent that they were burned and under cooked in the same piece, some pieces were just burnt all the way thru, blt was dry, pancakes were so undercooked it's not even funny, under the peaches and cream was a pancake with the consistency of room temp butter, straight batter :| parts were cooked properly but too much was not, im never the week type but my stomach feels like $#!t after eating there. Poached eggs were slightly over cooked too inside was solid not liquid no explosion :( I would've just written a small note of the receipt but they have a stupid iPad thing not traditional take your card and leave you with the pen and receipt to write a tip , which I prefer being able to compared to 18% + was not a 18% tip worthy meal :/ read more

We started by having a few mimosas at the bar with Jennifer. She is very friendly and helpful. When we got a table she happened to be our server as well. This place was very busy and very understaffed for Sunday brunch. I ordered scrambled eggs and got poached, the avocados on the tacos were brown and so mushy. Couldn't enjoy them at all. We let our server know and the kitchen manager happened to be close by, when she told him about the food he literally sucked his teeth and walked away. Totally unprofessional for a manager or anyone for that matter. I don't see him being a manager for long. Maybe would try again. Not sure. read more
