I usually leave great reviews about this place because I've always had great experiences but today was sooo different. When we first arrived, we told the host we were with Yelp Elites and she asked us our names to put us on the waitlist. We waited about 45 minutes for our table which was okay because it's Sunday so we knew it would be packed. When we finally sat down we told the server that we were with Yelp elite so that we could confirm the items that we were suppose to get. The server left to get the checklist to check our names off. The server then comes back to the table and tells us we can't get the elite items because our names were already checked off. We tried explaining that it's impossible for our names to be checked off because we had not been there. She got the manager and the manager was sooo rude to us. She was not trying to hear us or listen to what we had to say. Its like she thought we were lying or something. She made a big seen and it was very embarrassing. Other severs kept coming out of the kitchen staring at us as if we were in the wrong. We ended up leaving without getting anything because of how rude she was. I will not be returning to this location because this was humiliating and I've never experienced something like this at a Yelp event. Came out for a lunch-time visit. We found free 2-hour parking right across the street. Once inside, we were greeted and seated pretty quickly. Luckily, they weren't too busy during our visit. I started with Vanilla Spiced Latte and really enjoyed it. For my meal, I tried the popular Sweet Heat Chicken & French toast bites. The food was pretty good. The french toast bites weren't very warm The chicken was nice, crispy, and delicious. The Applewood bacon was perfect. Our server provided great service. Love seeing the Ruby sunshine and Ruby, slipper Collab in Charlotte! As a person who used to live in New Orleans, this was always a nice spot to have breakfast. So I was very excited to try on my visit to Charlotte. There's plenty of space to sit in the restaurant and lots of beautiful decor around. When the weather gets better, there's also a patio for dining outside. Definitely get on the waitlist in advance because this was a busy spot on a Saturday morning. Our server was friendly and very fast with our meal and getting our order. I do wish there were more options for non-meat eaters, especially protein based options. I had the French toast with breakfast potatoes, and a fruit cup. Everything was just OK. I think the potatoes were seasoned nicely and you got a good portion. The French toast didn't have much flavor to it beyond putting the syrup on there so I wish there was a little bit more to the dish. I did really enjoy my boozey coffee drink. This is not my first time here but today it was not as good as it used to be from the food to the cocktails were below what I know from them. Our server was super friendly and on top of things even though the place was busy at the time. The menu had so many delicious looking options at was hard for me to decide. However, I can't resist a good eggs benedict an opted for the Chono Bennedict. I was extremely disappointed with the service during my recent visit. My husband and I were seated, but our waitress never came over to greet us or acknowledge us at all. After waiting for quite some time, I finally had to get up and walk to the counter to ask for someone to help us. Basic courtesy and prompt service are the minimum expectations when dining out. Such a great experience! I was in town for the Southern Christmas Show with friends and wanted to get brunch. It was super easy to make a reservation which was great. When we arrived, there was tons of free parking right outside (always nice when you're a newbie in the area!), and we were immediately seated when we arrived. We ended up dining at the bar (first come, first served) because we were tight on time. My friend ordered the gulf shrimp omelet and I had the shrimp and grits. We split an order of pancakes which were quite tasty. The buttermilk biscuit was so good and my friend loved her omelet! She said it was excellent and she ate every bite. My first time at Ruby Sunshine. Mother's Day 2026. My Grandson treated his Mom and I to a meal there. Although they were getting close to closing the hostess was pleasant and seated us right away. Our waitress asked for our beverages, dropped them off, she didn't come back to check on us for about 20 minutes. Finally ordered, waited another 30-40 minutes. She never checked on us or gave an eta of our food, not that she was very busy, saw her standing around in back doing nothing. My grandson asked for a tea refill, that took forever then she finally came and slammed the glass of tea on the table and kept walking! Dry and rude! Now the food.....after the long wait the food came out lukewarm, my grits had large hard clumps, shrimp overcooked. My daughter's food lukewarm and the chicken sausage patties were overcooked and discolored. The manager replaced them for her, and offered to replace my grits, I refused, doubting they would make it fresh, so I would most likely get more of the same. The food was somewhat tasty, not great, but service matters...A lot! Customers are not concerned about waitstaff's personal issues, they are there to do a job, represent the business, and determines the tip. Good customer service should be from open to close. It wasn't a great experience overall, definitely not worth the cost. I may try again because it was a busy day and almost closing time. But please train your staff better. read more

I dealt with it because they had a good flavor. The grits were perfect. The biscuit could have been a hockey puck. They forgot the butter and jelly, so I had to ask. The French toast and chicken was a very large plate. My son enjoyed the dish even though they again forgot the syrup when it was brought to the table. The amaretto iced coffee was very good! Ruby Sunshine -First things first--yes, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was upbeat, sociable, and friendly. My daughter and I visited on Mother's Day, so it was understandably busy, but the vibe still felt warm and welcoming. Now let's talk about the layout and interior. While the outside of the building looks inviting, the inside didn't match that same energy. It felt more like an old construction or basement-style setup. The floors and overall design seemed plain and dated--not dirty at all, just in serious need of an upgrade. The seating was also uncomfortable. Steel chairs with hard wooden seats might work for a quick bite, but not for a long sit-down brunch. They were narrow too, which might be uncomfortable for anyone with wider hips. As a tall and slender person, I managed fine, but I still noticed the lack of comfort. On to the food! My daughter had the French Toast Bites--she said they were delicious. Personally, I wasn't a fan. They reminded me of Burger King French toast sticks, just cut into cubes and topped with a sweet icing drizzle. Not my thing, but again, she enjoyed them! She also had a potato-based dish with a mix of meats (pork, beef, and possibly another) and a gravy-like topping. It didn't look appealing to me at all, but she assured me it was full of flavor. Definitely a "don't judge a dish by its appearance" moment. I had the Florentine Omelet (I believe that's what it was called)--made skinny style with egg whites, spinach, extra mushrooms (my request), and goat cheese. That was tasty. It came with a biscuit, but I swapped it for whole-grain toast instead. We also tried the fried green tomatoes, topped with a glaze. They had a good crisp to them, so they might've been made fresh, but they weren't served hot-hot, which took away from the experience just a bit. Still good, but not mind-blowing. A note about wait times: Because it was Mother's Day, we expected a crowd--but the wait was about three hours. You can't join the waitlist until you're within 40 miles, so once I hit North Carolina coming from South Carolina, I pulled over at a rest area to get on the list. If you plan to go on a busy day or holiday, make sure to join the waitlist early. Final thoughts: Was it worth the hype? In my opinion--not really. It was a decent experience, and the food was good, but not something I'd rush to do again. I'd be willing to give it another try on a less crowded day to see if the experience feels different.
