I didn't eat it until seated on the plane. It was delicious and came out exactly as ordered. The sandwich was cut in half and lovingly packaged in a styrofoam container. With a pre-sliced and cut cantaloupe. I would get this again before a morning flight. Food is cooked to order so there is a bit of a wait. But I am always early, so no issue for me. read more

Stopped by here between long connecting flights at 7 am. The sign Sriracha Bloody Mary and had to have it. "Hey, I'm on vacation," is what I thought, so I ordered two. Very diner-y spot, which, to me, is very comforting. The spot is also good for people watching. I didn't order any breakfast, not because it was unappetizing, but because I was so tired and I considered the bloody mary my breakfast that morning. When I travel, I like to NOT rush. Meaning, I might end up at the airport 2 hours before flying out. This allows for any long security lines or any other non-sense. But this also, results in extra time to kill. Thus, we end up eating at the airport. We had walked around and our options were pretty limited, but when we saw that they had sweet potato fries my wife was sold. We were eating here. We order the chicken strips and the mushroom burger. We got the regular fries and the sweet potato fries along with sweet teas! It would be one of the last chances to get sweet tea for about 2 weeks so we had to get our last fix in. The burger itself was fine, the strips comes in a display that makes you think there are a A LOT, but the bottom of the container was empty with just pieces of chopped up lettuce to appear full. The regular fries were actually much better than the sweet potato fries because they were crispy while the sweet potato were soggy. Overall, it's manageable airport fare. read more

Went to Ruby's on a Saturday morning while waiting on a flight. Very limited breakfast selections. Only eggs they offer are scrambled and they were disgusting. Apparently microwaved - they were so hard they were stuck to the plate and had to be cut through with a fork. The presentation was nice and they looked good but they were NOT. The cinnamon roll french toast looked good. It was NOT. It was hard and dry. Three pieces came with on tiny little ball of butter to try to moisten the hard and dry bread. The bacon was hard and overcooked.. NOT crispy and brown hard, but old and dry hard... We ordered mozzarella bites ahead of time but they came out with the food all at once. We ordered coffee and never got a single refill the entire time we were there. As if this wasn't all bad enough, the bill for 2 people for 1 appetizer, 2 coffees and 2 breakfast plates was $55. with tip. On top of this horrible food and marginal service experience, I was SHOCKED to realize this was a Pappas' restaurant !!!! I am so, so disappointed in Pappas' for having their good name on a failure like this place. When I first saw the tag around someone's neck, I simply could not believe it. Had dinner at Ruby's Diner before my flight at George Bush. They are really making attempts to beef up the dining options at the airport with some of Houston's best chefs opening up restaurants. I didn't see any of the newbies but I ended up eating at Ruby's which is an old school diner with the old school look. The food consists mostly of apps, burgers, and hot dogs. I had a passion fruit lemonade and a grilled chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich comes with cheese, lettuce, and tomato. It was a solid meal and I liked how the fries had some good seasoning on them. I just wish the menu had a little more variety but it's definitely not a bad place to grab some food while you're passing the time at the airport. read more

Though it seems like a nice restaurant to dine in, with some classic music coming from the 60s,70s and 80s even the 90s. Waiting time can be long up to 15 minutes max. Overpriced food as well for the quality that is being served. This restaurant has some great workers but management towards them isn't so kind. Dashing from one gate to another to catch your connection can be incredibly stressful, especially since your flight is always on the other side of the airport. Craziness like this deserves a guilty pleasure, for me that's a good vanilla shake. Last time I was in IAH I had my typical experience of mad running across the terminal. I managed to get there with time to spare thanks to a slight delay on the flight and decided I deserved a treat to calm my nerves. Ruby's was nearby and had a big sign advertising their shakes. Service was pleasant and fast, they got me my shake without any delay or hassle. This is exactly what I look for in an airport restaurant. They know everyone is in a rush to catch a flight and just go with it. The shake itself was delightful, although I didn't get any malt with it. So those of you familiar with diners be aware, this is really a hamburger place, not a diner. They have a few apps and a few salads but the main selection is a burger. Wasn't a bad burger, fries were ok and service is quick but don't stop if you in the mood for something else. A Refreshing Surprise! Ruby's impressed me on all levels. Had an extra long layover (almost 4 hours)... with a taste for an all American Burger, yet one as good I'd make myself at home. I travelled to the international terminal E for this restaurant with great Yelp reviews. Now I am confirming & adding to them. My waiter Chuck was so fully invested in offering up the best service possible and having a joyful time doing so, I sensed this guy will succeed at anything he energizes...& Told him so. Bloody Mary was good, burger was ok. Waitress dumped a FULL glass of ice water onto us. She said 'sorry' but it didn't seem to be a big deal to her. We had a 3 hour layover through Houston airport so my family of six ate here. Food was very good, service during the meal was great, shakes and malts were excellent. About 3 minutes after leaving my oldest son realized he left his Invisalign "braces" on the table. He just turned 13 and is usually very responsible...but not this time. You wear one set of liners for a week and then switch to the next set. It's a pretty big deal to lose the liners after only 2 days on the new set, so he was a bit freaked and my wife and I were less then amused. We went back and explained the situation to the manager, Nicholas Rodriguez, who searched through several barrels of trash. Like, hard-packed nasty discarded food trash - not just fluffy napkins and straw wrappers. After roughly 10 minutes he found one of the two liners and we thanked him and left for our gate. Approximately 15 minutes later I was paged to come to security near Gate C. Nick and his staff had continued searching through refuse until they found the second liner. Sounds gross, but we were able to sterilize the liners after landing at our destination so my son could continue his orthodontic corrections uninterrupted with no potential complications that could have arisen had the liners not been found. Big, big shout of appreciation for the whole staff at Gate C Ruby's in George Bush IAH airport for really going the extra mile when it comes to customer service! read more

Only reason I didn't do 5 stars is bc the beer price isn't listed, I know it's expensive in the airport but $9 for a pint glass is a little pricey. I didnt even finish the burger, i had to eat the fries to fill me up. service was really bad, from sitting down to paying, hardly any staff come to check on customers in that section. I was connecting through Houston from Costa Rica and was starving. I stopped in and was concerned about catching my connection to Chicago-no need to worry. I had my burger, cooked impeccably and specific to my request in under 5 minutes. It was delicious and so fast--fabulous combination.
