I barely write bad reviews on people but this interaction was the worst experience ever and i do not recommend going to this Ruby's . I waited over 20 minutes to be greeted and there was tables open the host working was Andrea she had the worst attitude and was very disrespectful. She also shoulder bumped my daughter and did not even feel the need to apologize for almost knocking my daughter over. This girl is the reason i will never return to this Ruby's and i will be sure to spread the word about this interaction! read more

This place provided a fun lunch. Awesome diner with an appropriate beach vibe mixed in on the inside. Super clean and bright. The counter/looking into kitchen area is framed by an Airstream trailer and colorful awning. There is also a spacious outdoor patio with umbrellas. The service was exceptional. The place was full but checked on often and everything came out perfect! Appreciated their fresh ingredients and plentiful portions at affordable prices. We had breakfast here before catching the trolley to the pier. There was lots to choose from for breakfast and we settled for the veggie omelet ($13.99) and the corn beef hash and eggs ($14.99). Both came with roasted potatoes and a choice of toast or English muffin. I suggest the English muffin toasted with butter. The 3 egg omelette was huge-good thing we shared it among 2 of us. It was stuffed with mushrooms, spinach and cheese. It was really good! My brother's corned beef hash and eggs was good too. The corned beef was moist and the eggs were done to his liking. Our server was so nice and even gave us a to go cup for his drink. Soft drinks, BTW, are free refills. Not bad prices for what we got. Unless you're a big eater, the breakfast plates can be easily shared among 2 people. read more

There's aren't too many Rubys Diner around anymore and it had probably been over 15 years since I've been to one. So this is located at the Outlets of San Clemente. It's a very nice and clean location and has all the feels of the old rubys with a modern touch to it. The decor inside brings the memories of the rubys truck and the diner seating and colors. I had to get their burgers and fries here to make it really feel like you're at a Rubys so I had tried the Cobb Burger and the Mushroom Swiss. They were both very tasty but in my opinion the Cobb was slightly better as the contrasting flavors and the blue cheese really added a good touch to it. For desserts I had to get a shake and the Reese's peanut butter shake was the front runner. Simply, it was smooth, rich and delicious and it was one of the better shakes I've had in a while. The shake was the favorite part of my entire meal but the experience in its own way really brought back memories. Servers were all attentive as well and added to the experience. read more

I ordered the albacore melt with garlic fries. The sandwich was dry and the fries were pretty much a soggy mess. Not a very good meal at all. On previous occasions I had ordered the fish and chips thinking the second time it would be better. Consistently terrible. The fish was tough as leather and disgusting. So three strikes you are out. I will convince the family to go elsewhere from now on. Service? The didn't even refill our water. Our waitress was sweet and hardworking. I think they were short staffed. The ambiance was okay. You can't beat San Clemente and the weather. It was the quality of the food that chased me away. read more

Was headed down to San Diego and this was around the halfway spit from Los Angeles. Tons of easy parking and lots of space inside as well as a nice, spacious patio. Clean restrooms as well. Basic diner fare, but something for everyone and the kids. The kids loved the paper cars and stickers. Friendly, quick service as well. This was an awful experience. I ordered a biscuit with butter and they ended up bringing out a biscuit with gravy. No problem we just sent it back. Honest mistake. They proceeded to take 15 minutes just to bring out a freezing cold biscuit that was most definitely just left sitting out. Do they want me to get sick? So I sent it back again and they finally brought out a modestly warm one. After that they proceeded to never check up on me again. Awful service and atmosphere. read more

We sat down everything was fine. Until I ordered a biscuit and butter, as simple as I could be. First they brought out biscuits and gravy, and said they would fix it. Then brought the right thing out freezing cold after 10 minutes. No one came to check on us and had to track someone down to get a new one. He comped it on the bill, but by then everyone in my group was finished eating. It was just disappointing. Wish I had better things to say. read more

First off, the best place to park here is underground, directly off of that entrance off of Pico. Park underground, close to the stairs and walk right up. Top of the stairs, right there to your left. Easy peasy. If you are coming on a Saturday morning, get there before the car show, preferably before 8am. They technically do not open until 8am but seem to let the car show voyeurs get their favorite table near the upper parking lot. Off-topic, if you are automotive enthusiast, Saturday mornings at this location is great. They get, I'd guess, 300 to 500 cars every Saturday, from classics to hypercars. Great if you like cars. But, back to Ruby's. Nice, clean location. Also nice enough to allow those attending the show to use their restrooms (so bare that in mind with Saturday morning bathroom conditions). On previous visits, I've tried to order breakfast potatoes without the green peppers and onions. I was not successful but...on this trip, they seem to have added that option. I have an allergy to onions so getting the potatoes "plain" is exactly what I like. Fortune to get it and my omelet prepared exactly as ordered. Servers, depending on who you get, can be a little distracted. We had to ask a couple of times for items but our order, again with my special requests, was delivered quickly and correctly. My simple ham and cheese omelet was very good. The plain breakfast potatoes were exactly as I like them and my English muffin was toasted perfectly. My wife's wheat toast was a but overdone but they brought out replacement toast quickly (although this time, under-toasted). Either way, all worked out. They provide to-go cups if you need a cup of joe to go look at the cars, or shop. Great place for breakfast, we enjoyed it and will be back. My family and I had lunch here this past Sunday before doing some holiday shopping. The staff were so nice and friendly. My family and I were tended to by Karla and Frederick. The service they provided was beyond expectations. The restaurant was busy but the service was very quick. The food was delicious. I had the hickory burger with Cajun fries, delicious! The rest of my family had chicken strips, chili cheese fries, and chicken caesar salad. We all enjoyed our meals and the service. I would highly recommend this location. This ruby's is located in the outlet. Beautifully decorated with options of seating inside or outside. The food ordered came out quickly, and they were all delicious. The chicken tenders for kid's meal came with 3 tenders and french fries. Our toddler loves it. The b-l-t-a sandwich is also delicious. It had crispy cheese on the sandwich bread, the sandwich fills you up minus the food coma, it also comes with french fries. The fried calamari is good, comes to our table crispy and hot, and has 3 dipping sauces. The problem is, I want more!! Lol portion is a bit small on that one. They have papers crumpled on the bottom x.x. The root beer float is pretty standard, I think you'd have to try really hard to mess up a root beer float. If you're looking for the best service come Friday, Sat or Sunday. These are the days that Nick works. Ruby's has great malts/ shakes. Food was as expected. Consistent and simply good. But THE STAR of the show was Ruby's team member Nick. Nick has a wonderful aura and an energetic spirit. His positivity is contagious and extremely pleasant to be around. He interacts with everyone equally from what we saw during our lunch experience and even after. We went to the movies, seeing Nick in high spirits hours after we last saw him. I wish everyone had energy like Nick. He is a grade A dude. Overall we enjoyed our lunch and the old style diner + beach vibes at this location. This spot is located at the San Clemente outlets. With COVID they have outside dining only which got very busy. They have a strange system and only take a specific number of names at a time. Then only allow 2 members of the party inside to wait. They automatically add tip for larger parties. Even if you sit at 2 seperate small tables with 2 seperate tickets. They offer a breakfast, lunch and Kids menu. The Mister ordered a Garden Burger which he would not recommend to anyone. He barely finished it. I felt so bad for him. Bland and zero taste. Seemed to be a frozen patty nestled on a wheat bun. Came with regular fries and a Strawberry lemonade. I suppose a "Garden burger" is much better in my kitchen. My Chinese chicken salad was decent. I just wish it had more meat on it. Any extra condiments need to be asked for. There are zero ketchup, mustard, salt and pepper, ect due to Covid. Our server didn't even ask if we wanted any. Service was just mediocre. My water was never refilled. Our waiter brought our party lemonade refills once. I guess they were busy and trying to maintain social distancing as much as possible.
