This place was good. The server was fast and friendly but she said she was the only one working so it took awhile between the appetizer, meal, and getting our check. It also probably didn't help that the place was broken into multiple separate eating spaces. We were the only ones in the room we were in which was nice and quiet but also a bit strange. We got the Buffalo chicken dip and it was yummy. I got the BLT with fries it was good, flavorful bacon and fresh tomato. My friend got a Buffalo chicken wrap that she enjoyed. The worst restaurant I have ever been to. We were in a pinch so we had to stop in. You walk in and it smells horrible, a strong burning smell. We sat and immediately ordered 2 sodas and 2 appetizers. The sodas took 15 minutes as we watched the waitress just stand in the kitchen doing nothing (only 2 tables of patrons). We waited 40 minutes for our chicken tenders and egg rolls. Truly shocking. Food was whatever but my god was a dirty and gross "restaurant". The walls, floors, tables, lighting, plates, all truly disgusting. Shocking that this place exists lol. read more

Make your bar/ waitress staff wear appropriate clothes. I had a waitress today. Her jean shorts were past her butt cheeks. The front was just as bad and on multiple occasions, she bent over right in front of the whole table like a stripper pose.. It's very awkward . I felt like I was at a strip club.. the main dining room was closed. The inside bar was closed so we were forced to eat in the back portion of the restaurant.. Went for dinner with friends as one friend loves the pasta from hell. Beer prices were average but had the option for 20 oz and 16 oz. Fries were cooked well but the onion strings were a little too greasy for my liking. I originally tried to order the waffle fries but they were out of them. Went to Ruby's last week while we were on vacation. Pizza was great, however, the main dining room was dirty and dingy. Definitely needs a good cleaning from floor to ceiling. Stopped here for lunch. Not many choices as many things are closed in tinge off season. The place is a nice clean pub with two large rooms. I sat in the bar room. I ordered the house salad with steak tips. Salad was good with red pinion and black olives. Yum. Steak tips were huge and there were many of them however red, they were over cooked and lacked flavor. Service was ok. I'm staying for a week and likely won't go back. I think this would be a place to come abs bring the kiddos for pizza. read more

Hate to give such a harsh review but this place is awful. Came in last night, ordered the special "French dip sandwich" I counted 8 French fries in my box and they didn't give me au jus. It's always nice driving home to an incomplete meal... Not only that when I came the waitstaff was sitting at a table texting. She looked at me made eye contact and continued on her phone. The bartender asked if I needed help. The waitress stood up from the table and say can I help you. I said I had a pick up and gave my name, her response was rolling her eyes at me and then didn't update just walked away out of the bar area. When she returned 3 minutes later didn't say a word just handed me my box. Also the place was dead it was 8pm at night. What a terrible expierience. Moldy pizza crust!!! We used to LOVE rubys, but we went this past weekend and we will never go again. We were eating the pizza, we got it to go and it was cold when we got to our hotel which was only 5 minutes away... we were eating and my mother in law noticed mold on the underside of the pizza. Been coming here for decades and the food and service is reliable and good along with cold beer and football on many screens. Great pizzas, Pasta From Hell ( trust me) and sandwiches. However..... they recently changed their Meat Chili and have laden it with beans , beans and more beans. It is so difficult to find a great meaty chili without beans but here no more. Don't go to this place if you don't live in York year round & aren't a hillbilly hick!!! My big mistake was that we ordered some pizzas for pick up & I let my wife go in to get pick up our order assuming she would be safe in York. They took her into the back of the restaurant (shady) (the front was empty, but do you normally need to follow the restaurant employee to the back of the restaurant to get your to go order or don't they usually bring it to you?) where she got slapped on the butt by all the locals & hit on by everyone. I would consider it sexual assault & am considering calling the York police, but she told me not to. My wife is the only reason I didn't go in there with a police baton to straighten things out. Stay away from this place if you aren't a local especially on a Friday night, if you're a local hick then enjoy, but know I will be picking up our next to go order next time, assuming we ever order from there again. My husband and I stopped here on the way home. It is low key and relaxed. They have a popular bar in the back and seating in the front. I ordered the pizza and my husband ordered the chicken Parm with garlic bread. Pizza was very good- artichoke's we're of good quality as well as the other pizza ingredients. Husband's chicken Parm was somewhat lackluster- basically a frozen chicken patty with some sauce and cheese. The garlic bread was a wonderful surprise, french bread with fresh garlic. It pains me to write this review. In 2004, the night before my wedding, our wedding parties had a great time in Ruby's. I'm not in the area much (I live in the state, another part). This was the first time I had an opportunity to introduce the place to my teenager. We arrived around 8:00, it wasn't busy (a couple people in the bar and one other table filled across from us). The initial issue was how long it took to be addressed in the first place, it was close to ten minutes. We were asked for our drinks (very simple, water and a chocolate milk). Another ten minutes went by and no sight of our sever. She eventually came back, apologized and admitted she forgot about us. Asked for the drink order again and brought the drinks, along with taking our order. The appetizers came out fairly quickly (potato skins and a cup of chowder); the skins boiling hot and the chowder felt like it had been pulled from a refrigerator. Maybe two minutes after my daughter's order came (she ordered pasta without tomatoes, it came with). No explanation, no reasoning, my food wasn't brought. Another :10: - :12 later, after one of the cooks screamed (which was awesome to listen to) my burger and fries arrived (also cold, which tells me it had been sitting). The tables / seating area is close to where the cook staff makes food, pizza, etc and, without any regard for the customers cranked music while working. My daughter and I ate in silence (we didn't have a choice, it was almost like we were being passively aggressively driven out). I waited for a period of time for the waitress for the check, when she didn't show up I went into the bar, where I found her. I love local haunts. I don't ask for much, but the service was pretty subpar, the food was cold; the staff didn't have the crank the music right next to us. I'm sure we won't be missed but we won't be back. read more

We ate here on the Sunday before Memorial Day and will not be returning to this restaurant. We went because my wife has gone to this establishment every year on her yearly get away with her mother. To start the place was empty on a Sunday afternoon, which being in the food service industry should've been our first red flag. We were greeted and sat in a timely manner. The hostess even took our drink orders before she left the table. The next person that came to the table, I only assume was the busser. He asked if we had ordered yet or if we knew what we wanted. When we replied yes, he said OK I'll take your menus and then promptly left. After the menus were gone, the hostess came back to the table and asked if we wanted any dessert to come talk to her. This is before we had seen the waitress placed our order at all. The waitress and a trainee came over afterwards with our waters and took our order. While we waited for food, the busser paste around the dining room in circles right in front of our table. It wasn't till after me and my wife's food had hit the table that we got silverware, which were handed to us by the busser. He was holding the end you eat with his bare hands. We had to ask how my daughter's food was coming along because it did not come out with me and my wife's food. It was almost another 10 minutes before their food came out both my wife and my daughters got pasta dishes and the noodles were complete mush almost in edible. The scallop special was not edible and was only credited 10% when I complained. The pizza has gone badly downhill. We have been a diners of Ruby's for years. I finally had the opportunity to enjoy a meal with relatives and friends for lunch as Covid is finally giving a hiatus. A break from Take out Orders. We found that Ruby's dining in offers the same generous portions in with family in mind, perfect for young children who love a generous plat of French fries. Our group was fortunate enough to be offered to try some specialty/newer items being tested for their menu. A Calamari appetizer with Sweet Chili dipping sauce or Marinara or better still both with banana peppers on the side. They were fresh light and delicious. A hidden gem was their fresh Cod fish crispy fried in the style of English Fish and Chips, generous portion with a choice of Malt, Tartar Sauce, tomato catsup for their always yummy French fries. Our server (Nicole) bowled us over with a upcoming desert menu. We were invited to do some taste testing, it was was nothing short of amazing... She hinted that some options may be gluten free among the deserts. I cannot wait! As they work towards bringing an amazing deserts which may include: Maine Blueberry Pie a la mode, (with ice cream), Chocolate Mousse Pie with whipped cream, Lemon-Cella Cake with a creme icing, and Real New York Cheese Cake with graham cracker crust and strawberries. Not to mention a Brownie Sunday for two served hot front the kitchen with vanilla ice cream melting with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and chocolate bits. No more diets! We stopped in for a quick lunch, on our way to Ogunquit for the weekend. I ordered a BLT that was loaded with bacon! I also ordered a diet Pepsi and a glass of the house Cabernet. My wife ordered a pizza, and it was delicious. Wood fired oven, which made the crust so good. I never did get my wine, which doesn't surprise me, as the server didn't write anything down, which is an ongoing issue I have with servers who think they can remember everything that is being ordered. The burger was upside down from what is normal. One of the pizzas came out after the burger and after 45 minutes we just got the other pizza. Still waiting on the onion straws... Well, first let me say that when we pulled into the parking lot, and I was trying to get out of our car, this lady I presume was Ruby flung open with no regard to me trying to get out of my door, then rushed right passed me brushing up against me and went in the restaurant. Once we sat down, we saw her in the kitchen speaking her native language to people in the kitchen. She was upset. The food was ok, but I did see one of the guys in the kitchen and putting his hand down his pants which really grossed me out since he was handling food. Met a friend there for appetizers. The waitress was very attentive at first. The inside of the restaurant has been redone and looks great. My friend ordered nachos and I ordered the soup. I also ordered nachos to go to have later. We had a great time catching up. The homemade chicken soup was delicious. My friend has a few bites of the nachos and decided they were too spicy for her. So I asked the waitress if it was too late to cancel my nacho order. She wasn't happy and came back and said she canceled it. That's when her service went from great to poor. I asked for a togo container, then a bag. Got the container, but she disappeared after my friend paid the bill. I had planned on slipping some extra tip money to the waitress for the canceled order, but she never came back to the table. I had to get up and get the to go bag myself. Wow. What an unexpected find! We were staying up here for a quick overnight, and looked on yelp to see reviews of where we could go to eat close by. We stumble upon this little restaurant which was literally less than a half a mile from our hotel. I can't say enough about this place, they had us area for a bar with some seating, as well as a more of a dining room on the other side. It looks like the place used to be a house at one point. We were seated promptly by a very nice girl Who asked us if we wanted something to drink right off the bat. A 20 ounce beer for under four dollars? Yes, says my dinner made. And it was Sam Adams to boot. The food? I can't tell you how large the portions were. A Normas. Flavorful. Just wonderful. And definitely cheaper then back in Boston where we reside. He got a prime rib cut, and waffle fries that were buffalo flavored. Loved it. Huge portions. I got the full rack of ribs, that had the most amazing barbecue sauce on it. Not sure what was in it, but it definitely had a taste I can recognize, but couldn't put my finger on. It was a little different than what I was used to, very spicy but not hot. It definitely was something that was more flavor than heat. Again, huge portions, and I chose to get a salad instead of coleslaw. That's a two dollar up charge. It also came with amazing what I believed to be homemade baked beans. We would definitely come back here if it was closer. But when we come up to York again?
