I'm new to the area but this was a no. $55 not to have a shampoo or blow dry?!?! You can't see mistakes in a hawk until you blow it out. I've had the same stylist for 20 years which spoiled me I guess because she'd have never let me walk out with a wet undone hawk. I feel cheated. I usually leave a hair appointment feeling awesome and I just left feeling gross. The cut is mediocre at best. Don't waste your time coming here, there's only two actual good hairstylist. The rest are not well trained. And if you try to get a refund they will make you go through a loop of talking to customer service, then the store and back to the customer service. I even drove back to the store to ask for a refund and that they did not give me one. 7 months of growing my hair out just for this hairstylist Tiffany. To ruin it within 20 minutes. 69 dollars for them to ruin my hair and my day. I am dissatisfied and unhappy. Let me begin this review by saying that I have been getting my hair cut at Rudy's on Fauntleroy for over a year now by Michelle, who I find to be fantastic. Unfortunately, they were unavailable for a last-minute haircut so I opted for the next available stylist. Simply put, my most recent experience at Rudy's was my first and last time sitting in Sam's chair. I asked for a 2 on the sides into a low fade and finger length trim on top. Instead I received a lopsided high fade similar to the Marine Corps style and my neck slashed. During the l appointment I felt something might have been wrong with my neck but Sam said nothing to hint anything was wrong the entire time (40 mins), despite my then-bloody neck. When I got home from the appointment, my partner pointed it out and I immediately called Rudy's- the receptionist told told me I'd be called as soon as the manager was in the next day. I waited the week to post this review without any word back. I in no mean intend to slam Rudy's in this review - I just would like people to know to be picky about who's cutting your hair at the Fauntleroy location. read more

He executed it perfectly. Bottom line the stylist gave me what I asked for. I came in with a bob, i had cut the perimeter at home and I asked for them to finish blending it with my under cut. (I'm growing it out) My hair was styled, a blow out. With a cute fedora on. (Part if the whole outfit) I left with half my hair still wet and then the stylist got upset because I put my fedora back on. I have short hair, it doesn't touch my shoulders. Had a very bad experience years ago, had to get my hair fixed by other barber, I decided to give them a try again after a few years..... guess what ....lesson learned. I understand that barber and hair stylist have to learn somehow, but for the price I paid I could've had 3 haircuts at Supercuts and get a better job. Blame goes to the management more than anything, seems like they just want to fill chairs and don't care about the service provided. I really enjoy getting my hair cut at Rudy's in West Seattle. It is convenient, affordable, and they always do a good job! They do cuts for men, women, and children. They accept walk-ins, but I suggest that you schedule an appointment. You can either call or book online. Their website is really easy to use and you can usually get a same-day appointment. I highly recommend Meg. She has cut my hair several times now and I'm always happy with her work. Meg has tons of hair cutting experience and she is also really fun to talk to. I get a long hair cut, which is $45 for 45 minutes. It includes a consultation, shampoo, cut, and blow dry. They also offer color services, but I haven't tried that yet. This location is close to the West Seattle Bridge, so it is pretty easy to get to. I usually take the bus there, but they have a small parking lot in front and there is also free street parking nearby. I used to go to a more expensive salon downtown, but I am glad that I switched to Rudy's instead! read more

Great Place for a Covid-era cut! After not having my haircut for 3 months, I was happy to see all of the safety precautions Rudy's takes to make sure everything is safe and sanitary. When you arrive, you wait outside, someone will come to you, take your temperature, and ask you a brief survey about your recent activity just to verify that you are healthy. Everything was freshly clean and sanitized. My barber was grabbing from a fresh set, covered by some clean towels, and anything used when to a separate area, also covered by towels. David did an awesome job! Very quick to get to what I wanted exactly. He was kind, friendly, and great overall. He gave me a great cut, listened to everything specific I had asked for. During the cut, he made great friendly conversation. He started with buzzers on the sides, went to back to shampoo, and then finished with scissors and detailing. The whole time, both he and I were wearing masks, even during the shampoo. He gave me clear instructions for when to remove one ear strap to go behind the ears, but still hold the mask in place. They had each person at least one barber station apart. Overall, great experience after delaying for a while. This place is worth the money, and is good value for the quality of barber you get. Employee was rude and irrational. Not super professional and it cost his coworker an appointment. Management was equally obtuse. There's some great stylists here but their coworkers and management are restricting their income. Just stick to hair and you guys will be fine. Unfortunately I had to take my business elsewhere. Neither they or I will lose any sleep over it but I would caution people your money may be better spent elsewhere. Nice red herring. Kids aren't part of the risk population for covid. My review was based on your behavior not simply masks. It was unprofessional and your current attitude lacks accountability. Hence why I shifted from 3 stars to 1. Checked in for my 3:00 appt at 3:02 via text as instructed. After thinking they were running late (as is typical) I waited in my car and finally called at 3:30. I was told that I missed my appointment because the guy who checks in was at lunch and they didn't see my text. This seems like a major flaw in Rudy's system and protocols. If that is how they treat their clients appointments I won't be back. Was contacted by the manager who apologized for the issue and offered to schedule my next hair appointment at no cost. I normally go to Rudy's up on Capitol Hill (15th Ave. East) as it's about a block from my office. I live here in W. Seattle and decided to get a haircut on my day off. My appointment was for noon, but I ended up arriving at 11 due to other arrangements changing. I was happy to hang out and maybe take a walk but the awesome front desk person got me in within about 2 minutes of my checking in. I had my hair cut by the friendly Anna. She was chatty and very quick while being thorough. I've been a Rudy's fan and went to the Ballard location for years, along with Silver Lake, Ca and the previously mentioned Capitol Hill spot. This place has great hours - 7 days a week. While it can be busy, you can always call in and get an appointment with someone if you have to have a haircut or beard trim. With any barber, shop around and find the specific stylist or barber (they have both) that will work best for you. If you do have a problem with a cut/trim/stylist, let counter staff know and they will fix it immediately. No questions. This location also is co-located with Realfine Coffee and you can have coffee and cookies while you wait. There is also a mini-Easy Street vinyl shop with great album selection that rotates. If you dislike tattoos and rockabilly stylists, this is not the place for you. read more

I am an old man and a Seattlite and have gone to Rudy's for years including Capitol Hill, Bellevue and Ballard, and have always been satisfied with their service. I moved to West Seattle earlier this year, 1/2 block from the 42nd Ave SW Rudy's. I found you can't drop in any more so in early August I scheduled an appt on-line and when I arrivedI was told they didn't have me on their schedule. They found I was scheduled for the other West Seattle Rudy's and handled it well, rescheduling me. Last Thursday I scheduled an appointment and because of my last experience I was very careful to select the 42nd Ave SW Rudy's. I showed up 10 minutes ahead of time. No one was behind the desk (new policy; saving money and letting the stylists handle it) and I signed in as requested. When a stylist came out she said I didn't have an appt. On further looking she found I had been scheduled at a Rudy's in Portland, OR. I found her to be brusque to the point of being rude. She said this is our phone number implying that I had called the wrong number. I looked at my phone and showed her (or tried to) that that was the number I had called. She said, well you will have to wait until the next stylist is available (30 min) but she is a higher level stylist so your haircut will cost $67 (rather than the standard $45). What do you want to do. I didn't even get to what I was thinking: Let me get this straight; you f_____ up the scheduling so not only do I have to wait but I have to pay more for a hair cut? (Remember, I'm an old guy and my hair, what's left, is not that complicated to cut and I'm not that particular about it). So I said no, I'm leaving. She then called her manager so I stayed to hear the result of that. She was saying well he says that .... (implying she didn't believe me). Interestingly, the manager never asked to speak to me, but she reported that he said that this had happened before and it must have been a mistake with their call center and if I waited they would take 25% off the price of the haircut (turns out that was 25% off the $67 price, so near the normal price). My daughter was getting a big award at a ceremony the next day and I wanted to look presentable so I elected to take their offer. But no apology came with it. The stylist who cut my hair, Jo, was very professional, asked how short I wanted it and complied with that (that hadn't happened on my previous experience there), and that is why I am giving 2 stars instead of one. In the future I will be seeking out a different barber shop, even though this one is very convenient for me read more

Got my haircut for the first time here a few days ago and I am very happy with it! Jordan did a wonderful job giving my long hair a healthy trim and layers plus I got my full bangs back! The steps this barbershop is taking to be COVID friendly made me feel very comfortable. Everyone is spaced out and wearing masks, you wait outside for a text message confirmation to have you to enter a very clean and sanitary place. I'm new to the area and I'm always hesitant to try new barbershops. I did some research, read the reviews for Rudy's and again, was hesitant but I really needed a haircut so I booked an appointment. I can honestly say that I'm really impressed and stoked about this haircut! Garrett was my barber and he did an amazing job! When I sat down in his chair, he had asked what I was thinking about and instead of giving him specifics of previous haircuts (guard numbers, lengths I usually cut, etc.,) I told him I wanted to try something different that still maintained the fade with the taper but also gave me room to style the top of my hair more. In hindsight I feel like I gave really ambiguous direction but Garrett heard what I was trying to communicate and executed it very well. I also appreciated that he was engaging and tried to have conversations (as opposed to just sitting there silently and awkwardly). This is by far, one of the best haircut experiences and I'm really happy about the haircut I walked out with! I know it's considered "pricey" and I can't speak to other barbers or peoples experiences but I feel like Garrett did such a great job that this haircut was worth the investment and I'll definitely be coming back again. read more

Actually, zero stars. I saw online that Bishop's in WS permanently closed, bummer. So I googled and saw that Rudy's website says "Walk in's welcome!". That's great, so I walked in this afternoon, nearly three hours before they close. The receptionist greets me and asks if I'm checking in. I respond with "I'm a walk in" and then I'm told they're all booked up for the day, but they could write me in for tomorrow. No that's not gonna work. I politely leave, and on the way home notice that the lights are on at Bishops! Sweet! So I park five blocks away and as I walk up, I notice a "Rudy's sign in their window too. Dang, but ok, let's check it out anyway. Nope, I get the same response from this location too. I work construction, and I never know when I'll be off work. Could be 2:45pm, could be 10:55pm, so appointments don't work for me at all. I definitely appreciate reading that a decent barbershop takes walk in's, and not surprisingly I DEFINITELY hate being lied to. So the bottom line is, if you need to walk in for a cut that's better than something you'd get at Great Clips, Rudy's is definitely NOT the spot to go! read more

I've been going to Rudy's off and on since the mid 1990s. It used to be a great value and the quality was fairly consistent. A short cut is roughly $40, which is reasonable if it's a decent cut. My most recent experiences have not been good. They rush, the buzzing around the ears and back are fine, but the work on top, blending, anything beyond the basics, it's a total crap shoot what you walk out with. I get a higher quality cut for less than $25 plus tip at random shops around White Center and Burien. I keep returning here out of habit and because it's close to where my son lives. I'll feel like an idiot if I go back there again after the last three mediocre experiences. What happened, Rudy? You used to be a Seattle staple. Now you're just another big company providing a lesser product at higher price. read more

Mind you one customer is in the chair and another one patiently waiting. So how are they all booked when there are two customers and three stylists available. This was my third time going to Rudy's and will be my last. The first time I was pleased. The second time...so-so. This time I should have saved myself $54 and just put a bowl around my head and cut it myself. I showed the stylist a picture (it was of me with my previous haircut from them) - explained that this is what I wanted. It wasn't a difficult cut and I am really not that picky. It started out okay...she said she didn't want to take off too much initially, which I appreciated. It went downhill from there...I think it was taking longer than she anticipated, she didn't offer to take anymore off and rushed me out the door. I had a poofball on my head, didn't have the cut I wanted, and I tipped (don't know what I was thinking there). I give two stars because the gal was actually pretty nice...I just think she didn't know what she was doing and was over her head. And she did say to come back if anything needed fixing. It took me so long to grow the hair I wanted and poof within a couple of seconds it was gone I told the receptionist that I'm really picky with my hair and I usually get cut by a regular barber that was out for a couple weeks and they recommended me with someone that was the same skill level. My mom and I are from Indiana and were visiting my son and son in law recently. Mom wanted a hair cut, and my son suggested Rudy's Barbershop. The staff was really friendly. Desiree, especially, was super nice and accommodating. Mom is deaf in one ear and wears a hearing aid in the other ear, which she took off the aid during the cut. Desiree took the time to talk with mom face-to-face because she learned mom can read lips. Mom was really happy with the cut and kept saying 'She (Desiree) was so nice'. Thank you! read more

This is actually my third time coming to this barbershop. My first impression was ok... I originally went into the shop to see Christina because I read a lot of good reviews on her from yelp. She was fully booked so I saw someone who was available. The haircut was overpriced but it was a decent haircut. The second time I went in to see Christina H. And had an awesome skin tight fade - well worth the $50 (tip included). I was happy with the results so I made another appointment with her 2 weeks later. I came to my appointment, however, she was unable to make it to our appointment. Understandable. I'm at a barbershop so anyone could do a decent fade. WRONG! Nothing was blended. Take a look...
