If they are good with burritos, they should stick to burritos. Pozole always has at least lettuce, oregano, 1 whole lime, tostadas. Meet should be either chicken or pork and chile pikin for hotness. However, this restaurant, reheated their leftovers and served: beef, half of it was bones and half about 5 pieces of beef. The temperature was not warm enough. It was served with plastic spoons. a small handful cilantro and chopped onion and 1/8" of lime. We are not dogs, bones are not cool. It has to be well prepared or just plainly don't sell it. My 3.Dl. taco was served with two tortillas the size of a silver dollar, also a few cilantros and onions. I would never recommend that place to any true Mexican foody. read more

First, I do not like posting negative stuff but I really gave these guys a chance. I ordered combos from them, they were not ready on time, so I went to Albertsons to buy something and came back. I paid for it and it was all bagged up so I grabbed it and left. When I got home I saw we did not get combo's. They offered to bring some to us but I said not necessary. He said next time you order mention it. So I did. They charged me for the combo anyway, so why should I mention it? I said to the guy, hey this $2 extra after I mentioned you hosed me last time is why this place is empty! There is another place in the same complex that will get my business now. It seems you only get base model features for a luxury price at Rudy's. Rudy's Burritos does NOT live up to its hype! These overinflated ratings are proof that the far East Valley is still yearning for a quality Southern-California style burrito joint to deliver great border-town Mexican fancy and spiced-up comfort food at a price that's reasonable. Unfortunately, Rudy's does not succeed in the eyes (and mouth) of this experienced burrito-shack groupie. I walked into this small eatery with high hopes. I love all shapes and sizes of Mexican food establishments, from hole-in-the-walls to name-brand franchises to street-side food carts. Nothing gets me more excited than a lonely burrito shop squeezed into the obscure corner of a strip mall. On the outside, Rudy's had everything going for it...a basic store front, minimal signage, and a small patio with only a couple tables and some wobbly, weather-worn chairs. Definitely one of my favorite sights! However, I was thrust back into the world of the mundane once I encountered the unenthusiastic staff of 2 women running the place the night I went. Both women failed to greet my party, even when it was our turn at the counter to order, and with only 1 person ahead of us, who herself had ordered just 1 burrito and a handful of street tacos "to go", it managed to take the elder of the 2 employees (the only one actually cooking) nearly 20 minutes to serve the first customer and start preparing our food. Thankfully, we were not in a hurry! While I didn't go in expecting anything life changing, I did hope for more than the bland, boiled shredded beef and sparsely "filled" burritos and tacos we received. I was also charged for guacamole that they couldn't provide and they refused to give me a refund, even though it was only 50 cents! Ultimately, there wasn't enough uniqueness at the heart of any of the dishes we tried to make them memorable and the prices felt completely unjustified. I'm happy to spend double what we spent here on a good quality burrito, so believe me when I say the "comida" is not worth the cost! Between the food, the prices and the (lack of) service, I felt completely cheated out of the unique food experience that I had hoped for. In the end, the food was average, the delivery was plain, the atmosphere was nearly hostile and both the décor and service were less than flattering. I used to eat here a couple of times a month with my wife until the owner decided to accuse me of putting sprite into a cup when it was actually water. On a later visit not too long afterward he again thought it was ok to be a complete prick when we asked for water cups instead of a fountain drink- I can't have soda because of an allergy I have to synthetic sweeteners. If any restaurant owner is gonna act like that, I guess they don't need the business. I've happily taken my money elsewhere and have enjoyed not being treated like a criminal when patronizing other establishments. read more

Still a great place to eat. A little further from Los Tacos in AJ (home for me) since Los Tacos closed, i frequent here more often.. It is good.. I want to add that their green corn tamales are GREAT! their Green sauce seems to be a popular choice here on YELP's reviews. I like it a lot too! Was told about this place by a friend. That they had THE BEST burritos. My kids and I drove 30 minutes to try it. The service was very friendly. My favorite part of the experience actually! Tried: California Burrito - the tortilla was amazing. The meat had a bit of grizzle. There were to many, very thick french fries Vegetarian Burrito - my 10 year old loved it and finished the entire thing Bean & Cheese Burrito - my 8 year old was happy Fish Taco - didn't look that good. Was like a fish stick with sauce and cabbage. My son ate the entire thing though Carne Asada Taco/Crunchy - would not recommend the crunchy shell. Didn't look as good as the soft shell. read more

Have given this place a few chances hoping to like it since its so close to my home, and my neighbors were mixed in their opinions, however, all have said there food is very bland! I completely agree! This is Az which borders Mexico! Is it to much to expect some flavor in their meats? There portions are pretty small and pricey! Ordered 2 large horchatas, after handing us our large cups and we put ice in our cups we were told they did not have horchata. Did some looking around for good breakfast joints in my area, and saw Rudy's and it's great reviews. Let me first say I am not one to post or give feedback on here or anywhere, but I literally bit into one of the nastiest burritos I have ever had. I got the bombero smothered in red, and the chorizo was burnt to no other. It was like eating grease crispes.. missing half the ingredients that was mentioned. maybe I just ordered the wrong thing which I get happens, but the lady that went to give my food was super rude and just tossed my bag of food on the table like I was an inconvenience to her. read more

Decent burritos that are large and inexpensive. I tried the shrimp burrito ($5.50) which had a lot of fresh vegetables, rice, and lettuce in it. There were a lot of whole pan fried shrimp in the burrito, and they were cooked perfectly. I also tried a large horchata ($1.89), which was decent, but a bit too powdery/chalky for my taste. However, I did like that it wasn't overly sweet. read more

We really enjoyed this place! The service was very friendly and informative. Portions are huge!! The carnitas and carne asada meat was very flavorful and tender. The super taco is filled with lots of meat and beans. Usually, thats my preference but I think I would get a regular taco next time so the beans don't distract from the meat. the food here is absolutely wonderful but the hours of operation to get said food are not good at all.

I have been eating at Rudy's at least once a week for over 5 years. My wife's favorite Mexican food item is a chile relleno and she has had them at dozens of restaurants. She says no one makes them better then Rudy. I'm partial to the carne asada burro, taquitos and egg & chorizo burro which you can get all day. Here you get to watch Rudy and his clan make your food right in front of you. You don't have to wonder what is going on in the back, is the cook smoking or are the roaches crawling all over the kitchen like you have to do in the typical Phoenix area taco shop. read more

Went here for Taco Tuesday 4 for $5 only to find out its only good for Carne Asada. We still tried them though cuz we were curious and really craving for street tacos. Order came but It was bland, hard and chewy. I was disappointed. I had to put so much green sauce and lime just to get a flavor. So sad. read more

There burritos are very good they are probably some of the best burritos around the east mesa area for sure, however it is between8-9$ for a burrito whereas anyone else around here (ie. competitors burritos are almost half that number and I mean if you are feeling fabulous treat yourself to Rudy's however you can still get a good burrito around here for much cheaper ‍ read more

Best bean and cheese burritos around. I haven't tried many of the other menu items but they have a traditional cooking style that reminds me of home and so i keep coming back for an awesome bean and cheese. This is one of those places that I will forever kick myself for not trying sooner. I've been past this place hundereds of times and finally we stopped in for some fish tacos and it's not only one of the best fish taco's I've had but the fish was better than most fish fry's you find in the valley. Being from Wisconsin we know our deep fried fish. The guacamole was fresh and excellent and the chips nice and warm. We will definitely be back. read more

First time diner. Taco Salad: with ground beef, no beans, add guacamole. The shell was perfect. The ground beef and cheese were at the bottom under a mound of finely shaved lettuce. The cheese was white and at first, I thought their was no cheese because it was melted into the ground beef. If there had been more beef and cheese, it would have been awesome, but for $8, this was a serious let down. Chimichanga: carne asada, sour cream on the side, add guacamole. Taste- blah. Very perfect fried outer shell. So much mushy flour tortilla folded inside with a "where's the beef?" feeling. Again, the cheese was melted into the meat (carne asada was great). I think there was some beans???? Lettuce and tomato on the side. I spent $16 total and the best part was the crispy tortilla shell???? Meat and cheese were definitely lacking. I'm sad. read more
