Let's sing. Ahem. Oh where or where did my little .... No not that song. More like .... Ahem. Oh where oh where did I simply go wrong, to never have visit this place... Lalala. People of the world I never new this place existed. It's been in the area for 25 years and I just was never alerted of it. Oh and I've been looking. I've been searching high and low for a new Mexican restaurant since covid closed down many of my go to spots for great Mexican food. Please understand I do not like the big corporate spots around town. I prefer the hidden gems with authenticity. This place I indeed consider that hidden gem. It's off the beaten path. Well, it's off my beating path, despite it being on a major road. I just never come this way. Now to the food. It's a new spot for me so I didn't want to commit to just one full dinner. So I did a little sampling by trying multiple items a-la-cart. I tried the basics: 1 Fajita Beef Taco 1 Enchilada 1 Tamale 1 House Margarita Let's start with the Rita. You do not need to upgrade this baby to premium. It's perfectly fine the way it comes. It's now my new favorite margarita spot in all of Cypress and Tomball. Period. Beef Fajita. This is real beef baby. Not that cheap knock off low grade beef that feels like rubber. Nicely seasoned and prepared well. The fajitas alone are worth 5 stars. Ground Beef Enchilada. Finally found my spot. Hands down the best in all of Cypress. I will exclusively come here now for my enchilada fix in Cypress. Tamale. Y'all! Y'all. Y'all? I was tricked. They need to modify that menu. I ordered my tamale with zero sauce cause I wanted that authentic experience. What I got was a freaking chicken tamale. Blasphemy! When you see tamale on a menu you think traditional pork by default. No not here. They exclusively only have chicken tamales but the menu doesn't specify it. I did not like it at all. But I'm strict on tamales and I only want them in pork. Period. With all that, I'm giving this place all 5 of them stars baby. I further ordered a Jack and Coke (with Mexican Coke of course) as well as their standard Old Fashion. Let's be clear. Their default Old Fashion is made with Woodford Bourbon. Did you hear me! I was floored because that's the absolute best way to make an Old Fashion and many bartenders do not know that. This bartender did and she made the bar menu herself. I forget her name but I did post her pic. She only works weekends so, I'm now heading there weekends only for them perfectly balanced old fashion. Hola and Prosper!

Great food, strong marks, awesome staff. My new favorite go to food mexican food. Good every time!

Very good first experience. Service was spotty but they were attentive and we were never waiting for them. Atmosphere is your typical Mexican restaurant. Food was very flavorful, tender, and delicious. I always have an issue ordering tortilla soup at Mexican restaurants and their spicy chicken tortilla soup was smoky and delicious (comes with a quesadilla also which was fun). Fajitas were good quality, we did try the one that was supposed to have a wine sauce and we didn't really see that. Overall though i think it's a great neighborhood find.

The food was good but not the service, it sucked. My coworker is a regular there and I'm wondered if our server recognized my her attached to a bad experience with her. Not once did he come to our table other than upon request, I'm truly exhausted with bad service. I noticed how friendly he was with everyone else but us, each time we needed anything we had to call him over. The bartender did all the work for us and i notice he gave him a side eye a time or two. Idk but this 2 star is justifiably well given.

Chips served warm with a pretty spicy salsa. Once my tongue got past the first bite, I liked it .

Update: 2nd visit and tried some new items. Mr. Picky really liked his à la carte Chilii Relleno. My Mexican Shrimp Cocktail was pretty good but next time in addition to holding the jalapeños I would request more lime as it would perfectly balance the sauce. I also ordered an à la carte white enchilada as I remembered liking it on our first visit, not bad. Next time I think I'll try the Chimichanga. For dessert we ordered one flan and one Tres Leche cake. We always appreciate homemade desserts. Mr. Picky loved the flan best. I wasn't sure about the milk cake until I was a few bites into it, and then I decided the topping went with the rest of the cake, and I appreciated the fact that they got the bottom portion of the cake really nice and wet. Overall, not a bad meal and Mr. Picky, he says he wants to come back for more Chile Relleno.

My wife and I went with my oldest daughter to eat at Rudy's for lunch today. We shared the Mini-Chimis and the mole chicken enchiladas, and I ordered a gold margarita. The food was quite good, the service was fast, and the prices were nothing to complain about. I was a bit surprised at how few people were there at noon on a Saturday, but I've seen the parking lot in the evenings, so I know they do more business then. We'll definitely be going back!

This is a good spot for a TexMex brunch on weekends. It's not highly advertised, as neither the brunch times or menu can be found on their website. I recommend the Denver Omelette, with added ham. Very good!

Fajita Enchilada Al Carbon, chicken flauta

Delicious house mango margarita! We had the nachos Al carbon , steak and a combination plate everything was absolutely delicious! The salsa is super tasty and definitely spicy

So the place is somewhat packed for the night and at first I wasn't to sure about the restaurant the chips were not salted and the salsa was pretty basic.... But that's not what we came here for, we got the margaritas the frozen was actually a bit better than on the rocks..... the food was delicious btw ask for the habanero sauce if you want some real salsa on your burrito.... The food was very tasty and well seasoned the steak and fajita were nice and juicy and hot!.... Would definitely come out here again...I wasn't a big fan of the fries or the rice but the meat was definitely good. If the sides were more on par to some Home made food it would definitely come close to a perfect meal.... Also there wasn't much fajita on the plate

The menu is short but includes most of the classics. I had the Seafood Tacos and my wife had the Chicken Mole Enchilada. The tacos were surrounded by a flour tortilla (corn is also available) with fish that can be grilled or steamed. Packed with flavor from the onions, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and more I enjoyed every last bite. The plate included rice, beans, and sliced red onion. Delicious My wife loved her selection as well. The serving was big enough to take home what was not consumed allowing her an extra day to enjoy the mole. We also ordered a side of guacamole which was served as a huge rounded scoop on a plank. Don't get me started on the chips we used to eat every last bit of the guacamole. When we told our waiter, Jose, how much we liked the chips he gave us a bag to take home! I had some today and they were still crunchy with a hint of salt. Now to drinks: my wife had the house Pinot Grigio and I the house margarita which I ordered frozen with no salt. The margarita had a clear lime note but did not suffer from it. All in all we agreed that Carmelita's deserves a return visit next time Mexican food is our choice.

Some when it's not busy and some when it's very busy around happy hour. Their hh is from 3-6 daily where they have $2 off shots and cocktails. I've tried a few menu items too. This latest visit I tried the 8pc buffalo wings. Many bars have wings, and they should be at least edible if not awesome. I know Texas isn't Anchor Bar in Buffalo, but good wings are not hard to pull off for most bars. I chose the gochujang wings since they were recommended and turns out they are really good. I didn't ask for the celery and carrots, which they charge more for, but they gave them to me anyway. They were playing mostly reggae music during my latest visit. The service was fairly friendly, however, on one occasion the bartender was more concerned taking care of things at one end of the bar and rarely came to the other end where I was sitting. This was during a slow period, so she had no excuse to almost ignore me. Their menu is misleading with a couple of items. For example, the chicken wings. They display 4 prices, the top 2 prices for wings alone, and bottom are for wings served with celery, carrots and a dipping sauce, at least so I thought. Turns out I was wrong and the top 2 prices are not prices. It's actually 8 wings for 14 and 12 wings for 20. This is a very strange way and they should fix their menu since the waitress said many people have questioned this when it came time to pay their bill. I wanted to love this bar since Caddyshack is one of my favorite all time movies, but I just haven't had a great cocktails there yet and service has been spotty.

The woman who greeted us upon arrival was super friendly and gave us a great warm welcoming, perhaps she was the owner or manager, she had us choose wherever we would like to since they just opened, which was nice. The service itself wasn't the best, it was my friend's birthday and the server interrupted us over seven times in the middle of our conversation to ask if we were ready or if she could move the dishes out of the way, which she could've done easily without asking. Since we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time, it would be easy to see if we were ready to order, maybe it was our waitresses first time, I'm not sure. I asked if I could substitute the pasta which came with the mahi mahi with a side salad and they weren't able to do that, that they could not substitute the pasta side for a salad. I instead tried to order the caesar salad with filet and she said she couldn't do that either, and that it would be "very expensive" if I did order a filet on the side, which I wouldn't have minded paying for? A good filet is worth the price, but she steered me away from that. I ordered the lentil soup instead and it was delicious, but it came piping hot and had to wait about 10-15 minutes for it to cool to be able to eat it, and by that time, my friends were almost done with their dishes. :( The calamari was a delicious appetizer, very light and crispy and the dip was yummy too, I would order this again and highly recommend. I tried my friend's dishes, and they were also incredibly tasty. I don't think I would come back here solely based on the continuous interruptions of our conversation numerous times, it was quite frustrating and it made the restaurant seem far more casual than it initially seemed.
