    12" California Burrito $18
    Mike M.

I have dined here twice for lunch recently and parking space is plentiful in front. Inside it's a table service restaurant that is attractively decorated. My first visit was to try the mixed fajitas for $20. I asked for charro beans to substitute for the refried beans that normally come with this entree. First to arrive were the complimentary chips and red salsa along with 3 squirt bottles of other salsa flavors. Guac, habanero, etc. and they were all good. A few minutes later the fajitas arrived. Here the price is fixed for whatever meat you order, chicken, beef or mixed which is unusual. I went with mixed to try both types and enjoyed them tremendously. Usually beef fajita meat can be chewy at most Texas Mex restaurants but not here. The beef was tender and delicious. The chicken was juicy and flavorful instead of kind of dry and bland like other places. Definitely order the mixed for the most enjoyment. I tried their store bought corn and flour tortillas and thought they were very good. Ditto on the charro beans. Also the sizzling platter came with a large bed on onions that really added to the meal. Finally the table service was very good. Due to the taste of both meats I had to give this meal a 5. Excellent! The second visit was to try the California burrito for $18. This was a 12" burrito filled with the same excellent beef fajita meat that I had earlier along with rice, charro beans, lettuce, tomato, guac, cheese and sour cream all topped with a generous amount of chile con queso. It was a very good tasting burrito with good tasting ingredients including the chile con queso (4). The meal also came with the complimentary and delicious chips and salsas and very good table service again. I like this restaurant and recommend it. One thing I noticed is that my receipts for both meals listed the name of Pichurros instead of Senor Tequilas. Not sure what that is about.

My 3rd time here and I just tried the Birria Tacos. By far my favorite dish here! They were just about the right size that they weren't overly messy. Very delicious! The waitstaff is extremely attentive. They are quick to replenish your drinks and chips. We never once ran out of anything. Best waitstaff in town, I think! Not a very large place, but still plenty big. Probably seats around 60 people. Give them a shot for some authentic Mexican food.

Update: Came back here last night for dinner with the fam. What a difference 6 months makes. Service was great. Food was excellent this time, albeit I didn't get the fried avocado. Got the Anaheim chili beef fajita enchiladas and they were damn good. They also brought out some, I dunno maybe secret sauces? A mild and spicy green and a habanero off orange color one. All delicious. The milder green one needs to come out with the salsa. All of our food was great. I'll come back and try the avocado. I think they got all the wrinkles ironed out, y'all should give em a go.

Great food and service. We ordered birria tacos, mole enchiladas, huevos rancheros and a small queso. They were all good, no complaints! They give you 3 different salsas to try at your table. Strong margaritas!!

3 cheese enchiladas with queso on top. Had to dig in before I remembered to take a photo haha

If you are looking for a great Mexican restaurant, you HAVE to come by here! Amazing service and our drinks were never less than half full. All of their food that we have had is so delicious and man is their salsa good. They have a good amount of tables too so it's great for larger parties as well.

Beef fajita taco and cheese enchilada with rice, beans and guacamole

Stopped in for lunch to try this new mexican restaurant. Not many patrons at the time but the service was very good and attentive. I ordered off the lunch menu and the prices were fair. I had the beef fajita taco with a cheese enchilada, rice, beans, and guacamole. The cheese enchilada was probably the best thing on my plate. The beans were bland and the fajita didn't have a lot of flavor as well. The chips and salsa were fresh and really good. The guacamole was fairly good as well. Overall it was a decent experience

Loved trying this place! Staff is great and checked in on us multiple times, it's great inside & a few tvs for sports watching! The salsa was delicious & full of flavor + the queso was my favorite kind of consistency- not too thick& full of flavor. The margaritas were pricey for the size but they taste great! We both loved our meals & the meat inside the crispy beef taco was full of flavor which is huge for me when going to Tex mex spots!

soft drink is $3.25 for reference, small queso is $8.99. they tried to slip it by us.
    Melody W.

CHECK your receipt, they try and up charge you. they tried to charge my $3.25 drink as $11.99, and my small $8.99 queso as $18.99! to make it worse, there was a bug-mold thingy in my drink. no compensation. food was fire though, so that's why it's 2 stars instead of one. credit where it's due ‍

Food & service is always great. This is our family's favorite Mexican food place! Micheladas are good and so are the mole enchiladas.

Given all the shortcuts that so many restaurants take, this place deserves a "5" just for the fact that they do make everything themselves. And our meal was really excellent as well and a very fair price. We started with a Cheese quesadilla and our special request to have onions in there as well. It was good. For brunch we ordered the $12 Concha French Toast because Mr. Picky has a sweet tooth. That is Concha bread soaked in vanilla bean custard, topped with caramel, toasted coconut, cinnamon, whipped cream and berries. Mr. Picky didn't even need the side syrup. I like savory items and I so ordered the El Valle which was also $12. Two cheese enchiladas which I topped with sunny side up eggs, served with white rice and refried black beans. I added seasoned ground beef into the enchiladas and that was an extra $2. I requested white cheese enchiladas, don't know if that was standard or not. I am not a huge bean lover, but I have to tell you that the refried black beans on that plate were delicious. Very filling dish, tasted really good and it was a great value. Brunch is served Saturday & Sunday from 9am-3pm. I think this is the best breakfast/brunch I've had in the past two years. Generous amount of food and I couldn't finish it all. They have a bakery section and we walked over to look and see what we wanted to have for dessert. We couldn't decide between the interesting-looking carrot cake, the praline cheesecake or flan on top of chocolate cake. So we ordered and shared all three! LOL. Our favorites were the carrot cake and the praline cheesecake. I think this is the best breakfast/brunch we've had in the past two years. Generous amount of food and I couldn't finish it all. Five stars for making everything themselves, waiter Eduardo was very helpful, and we're definitely coming back soon!!!

"My Homework Turned Into Date Night (with Myself)" 02-14-26…read more I came here on Valentine's Day to do a writing assignment my professor gave us, and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food all the same. When I walked in, the hostess offered to seat me in the private party area. I declined and told her, "I'm here for a writing assignment," and asked if I could sit somewhere with a clear view of the bar. She didn't hesitate. She told me to follow her and led me to a booth with a clean, perfect shot of the bar, front row without having to climb onto a stool. She handed me a menu and told me to enjoy my evening. The bar itself was shaped like an oblong oval ring with gold seats lined up like little lifeboats, almost like a ship's bridge. Above it, about ten flat screens hovered in an oval formation, suspended in the air. Upside-down margarita glasses and champagne flutes hung overhead like delicate chandeliers in an expensive mansion. The bar area was filled with couples and solo diners enjoying the screens, sipping margaritas and champagne, and crunching on complimentary chips and salsa. Customer service was fantastic. My server, Ale, was highly energetic, lively, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I felt very well taken care of during this dining experience, which was supposed to just be a writing assignment, but it turned into a rewarding little night out. The complimentary chips and salsa were also pretty good. The atmosphere was vibrating at a high-energy level. There was loud laughter and conversation all around, the sound of dishes clanging in the kitchen, servers moving back and forth, and bussers scanning the room for abandoned tables to clean. For my appetizer, I ordered the shrimp crab cake along with a Cucumber Melon Margarita on the rocks. Both were absolutely delicious. The crab cake was mouthwatering and delectable, and that margarita was refreshingly fruity and strong, so good I ordered a second one. For my entrée, I ordered the beef fajita plate for one with cilantro rice, charro beans, and corn tortillas. I also added a side of the La Viva Shrimp (bacon-wrapped). I don't eat pork often, so I peeled the bacon off, and even without it, the shrimp was exceptionally tantalizing, full of bold seafood flavor. My entire plate was the bee's knees. I can't even explain how good the food was. Food Ratings Shrimp Crab Cake: 5/5 La Viva Shrimp: 5/5 Beef Fajitas: 5/5 Cilantro Rice: 5/5 Charro Beans: 5/5 Overall, La Viva Cantina is an upbeat, lively spot serving delicious comida with great customer service and an inviting atmosphere. Price wise, it felt a little high for what you get. I cannot say it was much better than something like Chipotle, even though it was about double the price.
