Fed up I have been using Wesley before he was here when he worked for a different company. He's wonderful and I love the way he cuts and cares for my dog. BUT... prices have gone up and up. And now they have an option to go ahead of all the other dogs that arrived first for an extra $25. So I got up early this am to take my dog. She was there before 8 and was one of the first dogs. It's now almost 2pm and I just called to see what the hold up is - she's usually done by noon latest when she goes in this early. But he hasn't even started on her! He had several other "express" customers that paid more to have their dogs go first. And my poor little scared to death baby has been sitting in a cage all day! No more - I love Wesley but the new owner is a greedy sob that has changed lots of policies, not just this. I'm done. read more

If you go around back you will see the conditions may not be ideal for your dog's long term stay. They do not walk your dog. They take them about 20 feet over to a side patch of grass not far from the dumpsters and stand there with your dog. Does not appear to be any walking, just stands there. Whether your dog goes or doesn't go, they walk them right back in less than 2-3 minutes. read more

Paid about $200 in total for both dogs to be fully groomed. I was told my mix breed which has not a single oz of Husky in him would have to be charged as a husky going forward, I guess because this is more expensive to groom. They were both sent home with ears full of wax and after being told a number of times that they were both checked and cleaned, they finally agreed to allow me to bring them back at the cost of $52 per pup. I told them I would not be paying a penny more. I brought them back to the salon to have their ears cleaned a second time. After the "second" cleaning, this is what came out of their ears after cleaning ourselves. read more

this place isn't horrible but the manager is super unprofessional I came in for a interview and no one talked to me besides the lead aca and I believe lead bather they were amazing they helped me out and showed me what to do i did not talk to the manager till after i shadowed and handled the dogs for 5-6 hours straight and when the manager finally came to talk to me she only asked for my name and number wrote it on a small purple sticky note and mainly only asked me about my personal life i was super uncomfortable because she was telling me about her spouse and personally life even though I was uncomfortable I continued to ask if I needed to fill out any type of applications online or in person and she said no and that i can come back on Monday I came on Monday when they first opened because I was not told a time even though I asked and she was not here it has been 3 months now and I haven't had any contact whatsoever I came back 3 times to ask again and I was told by the manager that she was waiting for someone to be transferred and for a position to open that was a 2 month ago I still have not heard anything Id like to add even though the interview was super unprofessional and uncomfortable I will say the lead aca Brenda I believe is her name was amazing she was super welcoming and professional as well as the bather that was showing me the correct procedures read more

I normally board my dog through City Vet on Preston/Forest Ln. I decided to give City Vet's affiliate Ruffit a try because I wanted to let my dog have a few play dates with other dogs his size while he was there for (6) nights. The next day after picking my dog up he is sneezing, backward sneezing, coughing, snorting,and making honking noises left and right. He can't catch his breath. I'm terrified! He was completely fine before I dropped him. I had to take him up to City Vet several times and express my concern that their was something going on with my dog and that he was completely normal before I dropped him off. They just kept telling me that it's "backward" sneezing and it's normal...and that he has allergies. BS! He was 100% fine before I dropped him at their affiliate. It took several visits to City Vet before they finally realized themselves that he was pretty sick and now he is on several different medications and still not doing much better. He developed some upper respiratory infection from being boarded at at Ruffit and he is fully vaccinated! It's been over a week and a half now and he is loaded up on medication and is still not better. This has been such a frustrating-stressful and VERY upsetting experience for both my husband and I. My bill at City Vet has been over $450 from taking him up there 3 different times and basically getting the brush-off like it's "no big deal." Well....anyone that loves their fur baby would think that it is a VERY BIG DEAL! Awful experience for me and my poor dog. I just pray that he gets better. DON'T take your animals here for boarding. Our Mango has been a faithful client of Ruffit- Preston Forest since 6 month old. Day play: From entrance to exit, Mango is treated like a queen. Mango is usually ready to leap out of my arms when she sees the staff. Kia is a phenomenal manager and Stephanie is always lavished with endless Mango kisses. Grooming: We call Jasmine the dog whisperer. Every time we walk into her room there is positive energy and cooperation between her and her dog client. Sharlotte is an awesome groomer. She is very patient and for that reason is the only groomer we will ever let cut our Standard Poodle/ Lannister. She's been cutting him since he was 18 weeks old and he is now 28 months old. Recently took my dog here for boarding and decided to go for a groom and bath while were there! I had a friend pop in while we were out of town to see our dog because he usually doesn't do well... in this case he was in great hands and was happy in their day care (playcare?). The staff here seems to be organized and we were 100% satisfied with the groom and overall communication they provided with us while we were gone. We will definitely be back! read more

Beware! This was our first experience with a doggie daycare facility and it was terrible. While the folks are friendly, we have zero faith in how they treat their guest pets. Our came home both days lapping up water as if it had been deprived all day. Sure, it could've been nerves. Except they forgot to feed our dog!! Though apologetic, food deprivation is inexcusable. They also promised midday reports which never came. If you consider your pet a member of the family then you'll look elsewhere. read more

I picked my dog up at 11am and it was obvious he hasn't been taken out to use the bathroom yet. He drank water for honestly 8 minutes straight when we got home like they didn't give him water for days and he smelled horrible like they just let him use the bathroom all over himself all week, we had to open the windows on the ride home to air it out. To make it even worse, he was there a full week and half the employees acted like they had never seen him. He's a 130lb Great Dane, you can't miss him. Awful place. Completely ignored my grooming inspiration photos for my dog, choppily shaved her and also up-charged me because she is a goldendoodle and her hyper behavior which is so bizarre: if you do not know how goldendoodles behave , do not groom them , it's pretty simple. I would've rather they told me she wasn't the type of dog they could groom well , then shave and butcher her haircut . Typical groomer who isn't happy that they can't have a dog who is easy to get in and out within an hour. She also only weighs 45 lbs and they charged me with tip nearly $170, which is RIDICULOUS because the "luxury" salon I took her to previous to this experience was $100 with tip. They completely blindside you with the price as they have to judge your dogs "coat and behavior" before they can charge. Ridiculous. My dog was also there for 5 hours which is absurd . Told me that they had a lot of clients so she would be sitting in there waiting for hours . Never going back read more

I've used Ruffit several times for daycare with no issues, but I recently left my dog at this location for a long weekend. I have a senior dog that needs a little extra TLC due to his arthritis. I specially asked the staff to make sure he is walked multiple times a day due to kidney issues. When I picked him up his bed was completely soaked in old and new urine. His undercoat was completely soaked in urine as well. The moment he got outside he immediately went to the bathroom and again when I got home. My dog has never had an accident at home so it was clear that he had not been walked the amount of times that I had requested. I was concerned that he was going to develop a urinary tract infection, which he did. I contacted management and received a phone call the next day, but no apology or offer to pay for a new bed. Management said "This is why we request that dog owners not bring their own beds." I will not be using Ruffit going forward. I recommend a different location if you have an older dog that needs extra care. read more

Today was my first time ever going to City Vet and Ruffit, and I was very impressed. I have a 9.5lb Shih Tzu who is wild when it comes to grooming. He would always scratch and nip at the groomers until finally one of them told me I needed to start having him put under sedation for grooming. This had gone on for almost 6 years until this morning. Mark is a miracle worker!! They were able to give my baby a haircut no sedation needed! I'm not sure what it is about him, but he makes the pups feel safe and does an excellent job with the groom. I will definitely keep coming back here! read more

DO NOT take your pets to CityVet/ Ruffit. They cut Abbey's back during grooming and shaved her hair so her whole body is red. I am so angry and upset and my poor baby will barely let me touch her. read more

I was nervous at first having to take my rescue away from what he was familiar with (City Vet @ preston/royal). We had been going there for 5 years and my dog, Maximus is extremely nervous to new locations. The place was extremely clean and the staff was very helpful. I would like to give a special thanks to Angelia* (apologize for spelling). She showed affection towards Max while he was with her all day and helped him calm down. She also gave him a parting gift. I will definitely be returning to Ruffit @ Preston/Forest for all future grooming and check-ups and will make sure to schedule all upcoming appoints to coincide with Angelia! The grooming was also incredible. Max is a husky mix and they were able to remove all excess fur leaving him nice and clean! read more

First time I took one of my dogs here for a bath he was so sore he didn't walk right for two days. God knows what they did to him to cause that. I stupidly gave them the benefit of the doubt and took my other dog for a grooming session, they made him look like an idiot and attempted to charge me almost double what they quoted on the phone and had listed on the website. On top of that, now my dog has an highly contagious upper respiratory infection he obtained their facility (he has been nowhere but my house since the appointment). read more

I took my 2 dogs to get boarded a couple weeks ago for their first time at this facility. Never had a problem when I board at the actual city vet facility so figured I would give this place a try since they are owned by the same company. Anyway, when I went to pick them up, they didn't get a bath, like I had requested but was offered a free bath for both of them, which was cool since I wasn't too upset that they didn't get a bath. Fast forward to getting home and I notice my 15 1/2 year old dog had dried poop all over him, his sides and hind area that I had to cut off him. I called the next morning to ask if he got sick and they said no and I explained to them that he was covered in dried poop. So basically it's safe to assume they let him lay in it and never bothered to clean him off. They did however, offer me a free bath again. Then a few days later my other dog comes down with this awful cough and after a trip to the vet, I find out he developed a bacterial infection, even though he is 100% vaccinated, which the vet said was a different strain of bacteria than covered by the shot. One good thing is since they are connected with City Vet, the vet costs were covered in full but still. Long story short, I would not recommend this place for boarding your pet unless you want to come home to a mess! read more
