The food was good, but our overall experience could've been better. We came in on a Friday night and the restaurant was practically empty. I think this establishment could use a little better advertising because we only stumbled upon this place after a search on Yelp for Latin cuisine. Otherwise, I've never heard of this place before and I don't hear anyone talking about it. This is cute family establishment. It really makes you feel like you're sitting in Miami having a nice meal. The owner/staff are really friendly and are not shy from coming up to you and sparking a conversation. We ordered the Churrasco, Lechon Asado, and the kid's Deditos de Pollo. The meats were very good. The steak was very flavorful and tender. The lechon asado had good flavor also. Both meat portions were generous. The rice was good, but the tostones were very hard and dry. I wouldn't be surprised if they were made ahead and refried, which absolutely ruined them. They were inedible. The kids chicken nuggets were OK. My daughter had to drown them in ketchup for her to be able to eat, so I'm guessing they were very dry or tastless. We also waited for a very long time for staff to bring us our bill. We waited about 30-40 minutes for anyone to come back to our table to bring our check after we had already finished eating. So, although the staff is very friendly, their customer service could use improving. Overall, our experience was fair. We arrived just after opening, so we had our choice of seats. At the owner/host/server's suggestion we sat in one of 3 booths. After perusing the menu, we decided to order several dishes and share them so we could try more. We asked the server for a appetizer recommendation, and he told us that the empanadas were very popular, and that we could choose a different flavor for each one. So we did that - choosing chicken, cheese, and guava and cheese (for dessert). We also ordered the Lechon Asada with sides of Moro and Maduras. We also tried the 2 Tamal Cubano plate, which included another side, and we chose more Maduros. Receiving our food took a little while because his family owned business was having a lot of takeout orders. But eventually the Lechon Asada and empanadas were brought out with the promise of the third dish to be delivered soon. Did Liang Asado had the Cuban rice and beans at one end and the Maduras (fried sweet plantains) at the other. Presentation was lovely and the food was very tasty. The empanadas had to be cut open so we could see what was inside. the crust was flaky and the filling also delicious. As we were making our way through these dishes, the Tamal plate was brought out. We each took one and split the Maduras. The Tamal Cubanos were different than the Mexican tamales we are used to. But they were extremely good, and I would definitely order them again. This location perfectly located and has such great potential for bigger and better things. It just has lots of flaws. First off I understand it's a family business but when you have your 14 year old serving and two toddlers running around they should not be charging the prices they charge for entrees. If it was a whole a wall spot this is expected but for how the ambience and interior is set, it makes such a downfall. I understand a lot of people reviews complaining that the dishes are not like home but this is a fusion of cultures and flavors so don't put your expectations that high. The price set for the amount of food you get is not really something the area should be okay with. I order a chicken a plancha and literally got a skirt chicken for a total of $16.50 . Don't get me wrong it had good seasoning but quantity over price is not there. I ordered online and was missing my dessert (tornillos). Went I asked for it, the server told me they didn't have the item. I asked for a refund and they didn't want to give me the money back or Exchange the item for another dessert. I had to wait more than 15minutes for the server to talked to the owner and get a dessert in exchange. I don't feel like coming back, I wasn't greeted at the door, and was treated very bad. I love this place! This place reminds me of the restaurants in Miami. The food here has been the most authentic Cuban food that I've had in the Springs. The restaurant itself is very nice. They play Hispanic music that goes with the theme. I love that you can hear the music but still be able to hold a conversation without having to yell. The family is very nice and welcoming. I ordered supposedly Puerto Rican red beans (yuk) white rice and churassaco steak. The beans are NOT Puerto Rican. There's no ham and the stew is watery not thick like Puerto Ricans make it, seems like the beans were only seasoned with sazon. Puerto Ricans use tomato sauce for thicker bean stew. The food is very bland and not tasty, or seasoned well. Wouldn't recommend Rumba as cooking authentic Puerto Rican food. I would maybe give a one star. Excellent service, friendly atmosphere, delicious food options only wish they had a range of Cuban coffees to enjoy as part of the experience. I had the cubano sandwich and man was it loaded with roast beef and ham so much food for the price. I recommend half the order if you are not super starved. My wife got the chicken papooses and they were also large cones with an order of two and they by themselves were filling. Had the beef papas rellanos delicious appetizers. I've been to this "place" twice with my bf service slow, food I've had better at other authentic Cuban restaurants. Family owned business but they forget the customer and I meant forget. Took for ever to get our drinks, mind you the place had only three tables with 10 customers. I finally had to wave them down for our drinks, which I seem to have bother them. We have given this place 3 chances. I'm Puerto Rican and seeing as how this place is a 2 minute drive from our house we WANTED to love it and have a cool spot to hang out and eat when I'm homesick. We gave it 3 chances, we really wanted to love it. The staff is wonderful, and the mojitos are damn good. If you just want to hang out and have drinks in a good atmosphere this is the spot. However, I would never consider this "authentic" cuisine. The first time we went to Rumba we ordered alcapurrias, as a starter. Then we both had moros rice with yuca con mojo, and lechón asado. The alcapurrias were completely burnt, and barely had any meat in them. They said their fryer was acting up, but decided to serve them anyways, and charge us for them. The moros rice is always good. The yuca was cooked well but had no flavor or extra mojo, same with the pork Second time I ordered the cubano, thinking to myself "well it's a Cuban restaurant" they can't mess it up. And again I was disappointed. It tasted like a sandwich someone threw together in 30 seconds on their way out the door because they were late and forgot to pack a lunch. The third time we had plans to go to Another Cuban place a bit further down academy. But we decided 3rd times the charm. We ordered mofongo to start, I ordered a tripleta, my wife had moros rice, yuca con mojo and lechón asado. ( this is her typical order and favorite Latin dish). We also ordered a pair of mojitos. Mojitos are pretty good, we've never had problems with the drinks. I would describe the tripleta as a sandwich left out on the counter overnight. The Mofongo actually made us pretty mad, it was mushy, not fried at all; it had a weird consistency almost like Moonsand mixed with playdoh, and no mojo to make it bearable. after 2 bites we just set it to the side. The Moros rice was a 7/10. The pork was lacking any flavor and same with the yuca. None of the food taste like authentic Latin cuisine at all. read more

I went recently with high hopes to have some good Cuban food and I wasn't disappointed. I had a Cuba Libra and some ham croquetas to start. The cocktail was great and the croquetas had a good crisp exterior and great flavor. The entrees were tasty, as were the maduros (sweet plantains) and congri (black beans and rice). The cafecito (espresso) was a great way to finish the meal. I'm excited to go back and try the Columbia dish I saw on the menu. read more

This little spot was right near my parents house so while I was visiting I wanted to check it out. I ordered online for lunch one day and went to pick it up. They called me after I placed my order of vaca frita (my fave) and moro to let me know that both of those items wouldn't be ready and asked if wanted something else. I was bummed but I got the ropa vieja and rice and beans separately instead. Pickup was quick and easy. I also got plantains and guava empanadas. The empanadas were such a delight and maybe my favorite part of lunch. The ropa veija and sides were delicious. Loved this dip into Latin America, and its beautiful, authentic flavors that both bring back warm memories and introduce new ones. The Tamal Cubano is a completely new take when tamales are old hat, the grilled meats are seasoned just so, I have never seen a guava and cheese empanada offered anywhere else, and the flan left any others I have had in the dust. This place is amazing. The taste is so authentic and delicious. The owner is so sweet and the staff is super accommodating. Didn't take a picture of my dinner because I was too excited to eat it, but remembered the dessert. We had special request for certain dishes and the owner said to call ahead and she would make it happen! I highly recommend this place to those of you with a good pallet for authentic food! I wanted to love this place so bad. I really did. One thing I really miss about living in Miami is all the delicious latin food. I mean, you name it - Colombian, Nicaraguan, Cuban, Salvadorian.... you name it and you can find it - and for affordable prices. So when I saw this restaurant come up on my yelp feed I immediately sent my husband the link and said "we have to try this place". So we ordered 2 Lechon asado con mojo, and 1 vaca frita, along with a mofongo. The lechon asado was dry, flavorless. No big deal - we could always add mojo to make it dewy and tasty - except, there was no mojo. Not one container of mojo for either order. So it really was like eating sand. The vaca frita definitely tasted better but was also dry. It almost seemed as thought the food had been prepared in the morning and had been sitting in their kitchen for hours. Dry and stale. I was really hoping the mofongo would be good, since it was my husband's first time having mofongo, but no luck. Again, no mojo on it to make it eatable. We threw about half of the food away. We did order fried sweet plantains with our food and those we pretty yummy, as well as the moro. The moro tasted very authentic. I just wish the meats and mofongo wouldve been better, fresher. I always like to give businesses a second chance, since anyone can have an off day - so I will be ordering from here again in the future to see if its any better. read more

My husband had ordered Vaca Frita and it was not vaca frita, it looked like ropa vieja. I think the food was pricey as well. Discovered this place today and I'm glad I did! I picked up 2 beef empanadas and 1 guava empanada to go earlier this morning and I came back with my husband for dinner! We ordered more beef empanadas and the lechon asado with Maduros (sweet plantain) and alroz con grandules (yellow rice with pigeon peas). 20 May 21 - went with my grand daughter to eat at this establishment and did not realize they did not open until 11:30 am so they told us we had to wait outside until they opened. Ordered the beef empanadas as a appetizer and my grand daughter ordered the ropa vieja with tostones, yuca frita and later ordered a order of cilantro rice. I got the Cuban sandwich with tostones as my side order. The ground meat in the empanadas was very dry and needed more seasoning. Both our meals though were tasty, delicious and the presentation of the food was amazing. Our waitress, Yamilet was not friendly at all and at times seemed rude. read more
