Postmates customer service and the driver were both completely useless and incompetent. Nobody seemed capable of fixing the problem, canceling the order, or even explaining what happened. What should have been a simple food order turned into a ridiculous mess of finger-pointing, confusion, and zero accountability. If losing a customer's order and leaving them to sort out the mess is the goal, congratulations. Mission accomplished.

I ordered the Sombra Margarita ($18), made with mezcal, ginger, lime, and guava, while my friend chose the Classic Margarita ($16). The Sombra was very good, the smoky mezcal paired really well with the ginger and fruit flavors, making for a refreshing and balanced cocktail. Most of the tacos were $9 each. I ordered the Veggie Taco, which was generously filled, along with the Crispy Fish Taco. The fish had a satisfying crunch, although it was just slightly overcooked. Overall, it was a good spot for a quick, casual meal. I also noticed they were preparing quite a few takeout orders. They had a sign advertising happy hour every day from 3-6pm, $8 house margaritas, $7 select tacos, and discounted small plates. I would definitely come back to check out happy hour or try more of the menu.

Rumba is the epitome of lipstick on a pig. It's dolled up on such a way that lends itself to the sneaking suspicion that the creative "mind" behind this culinary atrocity is pulling the proverbial vail over the eyes of working class patron. Nestled in the heart of the Hampton Bays between what appears to be a condemned heroin den, and what is undoubtedly a hive of undocumented Latino laborers, you'll find a gaudy tiki themed resturant with an overwhelming number of citronella torches lining the runway up to the entrance. The first thing you'll notice as you wade through the sea of portly middle aged women suffering the effects of a third, ill-advised, glass of the face numbing rum punch, is the lack of substance Rumba will provide. The staff appear tired and unkept. The faces of each college age waitress hardly provoke the feelings associated with eating a hearty meal. Truth be told, the lovely servers appear to hail from some forgotten crevasse of central suffolk county united by some sort of community college job placement scandal. The drink menu is extensive and overcompensatory of the lack of creativity found throughout the themeless menu. The one redeeming quality was found in the depths of a rum punch pitcher which will set you back nearly 30 dollars, bold, considering the working class nature of Rumba's host town. As you sip the hobo'esque level of alcohol holstered in a rustic mason jar you realize Rumba's punch, a devilish nectar,could easily wipe out a middle school girls field hockey team or simply make your wife or girlfriend seemly, witty and enjoyable. The food at Rumba is forgettable at best. It's expected and poorly executed. The unsavory looking chef/owner will undoubtedly make table rounds boasting his achievement like a well trained canine having just returned an old tennis ball to your lap. Once you nod your way through that interaction you will realize how much this restaurant is reaching to be mediocre. It's not a terrible place to enjoy a meal with friends in the way that concentration camps weren't an awful opportunity to network your dental practice. read more

Sigh, if only there was DECENT PARKING here! I can't tell you how many times I've gotten dressed up and ready to go, only to find that the parking lot is full. Taking the Rum-bus, while a clever notion, is not my idea of a good time... believe me, I've waited in that marina parking lot for too long without a bus in sight to ever fall for that one again. (I recently heard that they're thinking of opening a second location in Patchogue - oh dear God, I think it's possible that Patchogue offers even LESS parking than Rumba in Hampton Bays!!! WHY??!) Parking issue aside - though really how could you eat there if you can't get inside? Take a taxi I guess? - I absolutely love the food here. On the rare occasion that we actually do get a parking spot, it's pulled pork taco heaven for me! Delicious! I love the mojitos and my husband loves the rum punch. Definitely on the pricey side - we each got 3 tacos, shared an appetizer, and a drink each and the bill somehow came out to be $90. read more

It was a warm breezy day so we brushed our teeth and headed to Hampton Bays. We saw a Toyota Camry 2017 model on the way there, what a reliable car. We got to Rumba, the lot was full and a nice young valet driver said park in the marina parking lot and a bus will pick you up. I asked where it is. A middle age customer barked "DOWN THE ROAD!" like he's been answering that question all his life. The bus picked us up and the bus driver downed a steward's creme soda. The bus driver was excellent. We arrived and were seated right away. The waitress was very attentive and nice. The first round of water was just what the doctor ordered. Then the starter. We ordered the duck empanadas. OH BAY BAY. They were great. My gal and I both ordered three tacos. The service was so fast I looked up and they were on the way. Right before they hit the table I woke up. Just like that it was merely a dream. I hope to go eventually, however. Maybe even this weekend. read more

I love Rumba! The food is always excellent and the staff is caring and attentive to keeping you satisfied. Food service is prompt and the food is always delicious. The apricot glazed pork tenderloin is my favorite dish. The coconut risotto is like a dream in your mouth. I lovvve the fried sweet plantains. Their coconut siracha wings are my most favorite wings I've ever had, and that says alot being that I am a wing connoisseur ;) All of the tacos are excellent. The rum punches are awesome, and even better when they're $5 during happy hour. And I of course have to mention the hot fudge sundae, which always finishes off the great experience at rumba with a lucious decadence that keeps me always coming back for more. Always a favorite of mine !! Been coming here since the beginning, great to have a spot that is open to the locals all winter long ! These guys make the BEST margarita around hands down !! The duck empanadas hit the spot every time along with the double dip, wings, and ribs for appetizers, while their tacos are a personal favorite for lunch or dinner, the fish taco and pulled rib taco are my go to's. If you're not feelin' tacos the Island burger is amazing!! If you have room after your meal the key lime pie and the ice cream sundae are INSANE. Whatever it is you choose to go with you'll be biting into a little piece of heaven and feel like you have been transported to a caribbean island. The staff, location, and music are wonderful !! This place is a solid spot in Hampton bays. They are also the owners of cowfish, which is only about a mile away and you can even get there by a little boat they have. Solid, solid food and drinks. People love the rum punch, I really like the prickly pear margarita. They have great duck empanadas that are a must, tacos, ribs and tuna tartar. It makes me hungry thinking about it!!! The problem here is the parking. Now they have the valet parking, but it's still annoying and the place is very small so there often is a long wait. While you wait you can drink outside by the dock and they have a few chairs set up to enjoy the view. But I can't say it's the best view in the area. Overall come here for the food and drinks. I wouldn't come in with a party bigger than 4. read more

Went on a Monday night didn't have reservations for 5 o'clock receded wasn't within five minutes. Nice decor inside hostesses were very friendly and assisting with seating and a rapid manner. Restaurant is clean and tidy. Lead service was very attentive unlike today in most establishments they were beyond attentive on a regular basis coming by the table and asking if we needed items water, Removing dishes bringing appetizers in a timely manner as well as taking initial order for drinks to get everybody set and specials announced before menu review. Food was very good there wasn't a dish that went to the table that people did not love. Highly recommended if you're in the area it's worth a stop. read more

Absolutely love this place! The Shrimp Nola is my all-time favorite dish and never disappoints. It's packed with amazing flavor and always cooked perfectly. We also ordered the coconut shrimp, and they were crispy, delicious, and some of the best I've had. The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and the overall experience was wonderful. Very busy place during the summer with good reason! They have an amazing background, the ocean. Their drinks are amazing! The food is caribbean/latin mixed but tailored to the general population, so it is missing the authenticity of respective cultures. The main entree I selected was the "Long Island Monkfish" for 34$. The price was more than expected for the quantity of food and they should have included some bread - very much needed with the spicy vinaigrette. The monkfish was absolutely delicious! The leeks and gnocchi went perfectly with the fish. I read online that the Branzino is really good here. I really wanted to try the Branzino but they ran out of it. Before I left, I went to the restroom. They have two stalls so there was a bit of wait. The main area is open with sinks, soap and a Dyson dryer - no paper towels. The stalls are clean with ample space. While waiting, I chatted with the other people who had been to the Rose wine soirée earlier. They said it was great - unlimited rose wine plus appetizers at the beginning, including lobster rolls. Tickets were 60$ all inclusive. They had a DJ and small outdoor dance floor and it was almost all women. That's not a surprise - rose wine events tend to attract more women than men. I'm not sure why, maybe because rose wine is pink or the invite appeals more to a female audience.

The portion was substantial, so I didn't mind the high $$$. The service was also excellent. My only slight complaint was paying $8-9 for an iced coffee. It was excellent but even an expensive restaurant 8 bucks for coffee is a bit extreme! Highly recommended --- even if it it quite a bit off the beaten path.

My sisters and I, party of 3, were celebrating my sister's bachelorette weekend, did my research early July and was beyond excited to dine here. We had a 715 reservation on the patio, it was starting to drizzle around 615 when we left our house. We arrived at the restaurant at 705 and the host checked the weather and said it will stop shortly, we were fine even if we had to wait 20 mins + ;the weather was out of their control. Then she says, "yeah it's not stopping, you should go across the street our sister restaurant". And my sister, also industry and bride to be asked if there was a way to move inside even with a wait or accommodate and the host said, "no we're booked." Which was disheartening bc I don't think her or I have ever turned away a guest and encouraged them to leave- even since we were on time, early may I add, to a reservation we had for a month! When I asked what the cuisine was across the street her response, " oh burrata, fish, some of the same fish from here and you'll definitely be able to get in". So I asked if it was like Italian/American.. she didn't really give great feedback. I have been a chef for 13 years and I would have loved to support what they are doing and was eagerly anticipating this dining experience. I genuinely hope to dine here at some point in the future. But this did leave a negative impact

Can't ask for a better lunch spot. Truly vacation vibes! The service was a bit slow and our drinks and food took a bit to come out...our toddler was getting irritated but, we managed to keep him engaged and entertained with bowls of ice. When the food finally came, everything was soooo good! Our son even tried fried dogfish bites, and he ate it all! The oysters were fresh, the grilled asparagus were delicious, the grilled squid had a nice kick and was bbq'd perfectly, and the grilled bass with fresh herbs and olive oil was one of the simplest, but best fish dishes I've ever tried. This place knows how to use simple, fresh, high quality ingredients! Everything was amazing. Would definitely recommend for a beachfront lunch out on the North Fork!
