So glad we visited rumble fish sushi, literally a hidden gem, thank you traffic jam on 17. Small restaurant but very cutesy and got good outside seating. we visited at the tail end of the business day yet everything served was quality along with top notch customer services. Will return with intent without traffic on 17, yummy

Big fan of the Miss Piggy! My favorite baked roll ever. We should add bacon and parmesan to more sushi rolls. It was creamy, rich, decadent, and downright sinful. Need to pair it with seaweed salad and ginger to cut through the fat. Other stuff was good but the standout that I will think about for a long time is the queen herself.

Our group came to Rumble Fish per someone's ecommendation at Prayer Mountain. Good sized lunch bento and sushi specials. Most in group got 2 or 3 item lunch bento. I debated between sashimi or rolls and in end went for 3 roll lunch special. In retrospect 2 roll would have been plenty. I was stuffed and shared remaining with others. Liked all the options: unagi (w/ avocado), salmon, and yellowtail. Miso and salad were pretty standard.

This place was great! I wasn't sure what to expect but all the fish was fresh and the service was very friendly. They definitely have some unique menu items, as well as your typical ones. The menu is HUGE and their selection of rolls are very impressive. The fantastic 4 nigiri was fascinating. It was basically four types of fish stacked together and I had to order it to just experience it. Sashimi salad was delicious, spicy scallop nigiri was super tasty too. The one I wasn't a fan of was the Kazunoko nigiri (herring roe). I've never seen this on a menu anywhere so I figured I'd go out on a limb and try it but it was more dense than I expected and a little fishy. Wouldn't order that again but I'm glad I got the chance to try something new! I eat a lot of sushi so it's not often I get to try a new nirigi. Would absolutely return and try some of my more typical sushi items!

Giants : it was very tasty

Our sushi was very tasty. Service was good. The ambiance was nice too. Their winter special was amazing.

This spot came highly recommended by someone who goes here all the time, and after my first visit, I can absolutely see why! The service was so kind and attentive, and the food was really delicious!! I ordered the Seafood Udon (pictured), and it was packed with flavor and fresh ingredients. I will definitely be getting it again! The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it has a wonderful atmosphere that feels warm and inviting! I am already looking forward to my next visit!

Lunch bentos - (back) beef teriyaki and katsu, (front) salmon teriyaki and spicy tuna roll

I used to visit Rumble Fish in college and had fond memories of their lunch bento boxes. I'm so glad the meal and visit lived up to what I remembered! On our way out of Santa Cruz, my husband and I stopped by Rumble Fish for a late lunch. We both ordered the lunch bento boxes - beef teriyaki and katsu for my husband and salmon teriyaki and a spicy tuna roll for me. Both boxes came with miso soup, rice and salad. The service was excellent and the food was so good! Generous and quality portions and I would happily visit again.

Two weeks ago, my family of 4 came here for lunch as we were in the area at around 11ish-am. Yelp brought us here. We were seated immediately as we walked in, and there were about 3 parties seated inside already. Menus were given, and within minutes, we were checked on to order by 2 people. I think it's great that the staff was prompt. However, the menu is large, so time is definitely needed. Took us about 10 mins to look through the menu and ordered what we wanted. The following was what we ordered: 1. Edamame: Cooked just right. It's not soft and has a crunch texture. No salt was added, but it came w/ a lemon wedge. First time seeing this. It's a different taste with citrus, but it's not too bad. Slightly bland. 2. Sake Bowl (rice and salmon): Comes with miso soup and salad for my 8yo. -Soup is very flavorful but not salty, and the seaweed in the soup is fresh. Nice and crunchy. -The salad is fresh mix w/ sesame flavor dressing. My 10yo finished it w/o hesitation. -The shashimi comes in a boat design bowl w/ a layer of rice sprinkled with furikake under the sashimi. Also, a small side bowl of white rice was provided. The sashimi cut were very thick and the quality is good and fresh. You can easily tell with the color and texture of the fish. He couldn't finish the sashmi on his own though he usually does elsewhere. -The cucumber salad that came with the entree was ok, but the seaweed salad is delish! 3. Orang Blossom, replace w/ cucumber: My 10yo devoured this. 3. Lion King, baked: Very flavorful with great flavors. However, there was too much sauce on the bottom that the pieces fell off easily when I picked it up. 4. Hamachi Love: Love! Good amount of Hamachi and tobiko with the right flavors. I may be bias as hamachi is my fav. 5. Fire Dragon, baked: Love the crunch, but the sweetness to it throws me off as I was expecting spicy and savory, but it wasn't either. 6. Sake belly: Need I say more? Delish! 7. Tobiko Nigiri: A must have for me and my 10yo each time. The service in general was decent but not great. A small and intimate sushi restaurant nestled in Scotts Valley within Santa Cruz mountains. There are outdoor seatings, and it got busy quickly as lunch time approached. Would visit again in the future to try other rolla as the menu is pretty extensive.

The other local sushi ship was closed on Monday so we ended up at a Rumble Fish. +1 star for being open The place was busy and we didn't have reservations, but were sat at the sushi bar in less than 10 minutes. +1 for reasonable wait Employees were bustling in all directions, but nobody looked stressed. They were used to this and it showed - everyone was on the same team and they were high performing. +1 for teamwork Our order was taken promptly and prepared rather quickly with the only exception being the Edamame which somehow took longer than all the sushi rolls, but still arrived within a reasonable time. +1 for timeliness And finally, the food tasted great! +1 for great tasting food! 5 stars!

Just to start, everyone we interacted with to place the order, pick up, and pay were extremely friendly. The order was packed well, utensils included as we had requested. Well it turns out we ordered a lot of cabbage salad but that wasn't a problem because of how fresh, crunchy, and flavorful it was. The peanuts and basil + dressing absolutely made something simple taste exquisite. I've never eaten so much salad in my life and I would happily go back for more. The shrimp were a little on the scant side, about 8 pieces sliced in half, so 4 whole shrimp, but they were extremely tasty. Nice marinade/seasoning and great char flavor. The skewers on the other hand were quite generous, each with 6-7 giant pieces of meat. They were delicious but what I appreciated the most was that they were still tender and juicy. A lot of restaurants par-cook skewers and then just reheat them for service, which dries them out -- almost certainly everyone has experienced this before. Not at JT. They were perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy. I can't say that I've had a lot of Cambodian food, but if it's as good as this, that might need to change.

The lone employee who made eye contact with us was nice, but again--this is a fast-casual restaurant! The edamame was soft and unseasoned. The only condiment on the table was soy sauce (no low-sodium options available) and sushi rolls do not come with wasabi nor ginger. "Bento boxes" are essentially combo meals. When we sent the first edamame back because it was mushy, we received another bowl of flaccid beans back moments later. I suspect they are steamed in bulk, possibly in a bag in a microwave. My gripe with this place that finally pushed me to publish this review was the fried soft shell crab roll. PLEASE, for the love of cuisine, spare yourself from this roll. The crab is fried harder than a well-done Kentucky fried chicken leg, with a sweet sauce smeared over the top to distract from the flavorlessness of the contents.
