It's awesome to have an Indian restaurant in town. I've tried a handful of similar places in the San Francisco area, and was curious to see how this place compares. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The menu also offers a decent variety of dishes, but was disappointed to see no lamb options. You also don't choose a spicy level when ordering (very surprising), but they do offer chili sauce and jalapenos on the side upon request. read more

Rumi isn't a restaurant--it's a teleportation device disguised as a dining room. One minute you're just hungry, the next you're wondering if you should start learning the language and cancel your other dinner plans for the rest of your life. Let's start strong: the baba ganoush was impeccable. Not "pretty good," not "I'd order it again"--impeccable. Creamy, smoky, confidently delicious, like it knew it was the best thing on the table and didn't need to brag. The lamb kabobs then showed up and completely stole the spotlight: tender, perfectly seasoned, and basically melting on contact. And yes, the white sauce comes on the side, which is ideal because it's so good you'll want to dip everything into it--kabobs, bread, possibly your dignity. The mango drink? Absolutely unhinged in the best way. One sip and I forgot what I ordered, where I parked, and what my personality was before this moment. "To die for" feels accurate, but also misleading because you'll want to stay alive long enough to order a second one. And then there's the service. I didn't feel like a customer--I felt like I'd been adopted. We were treated like family, friends, and students all at once, getting an enthusiastic, genuinely fascinating education about the food while being cared for like honored guests. Dining at Rumi feels like stepping into another country where the food is better, the people are warmer, and everyone is just thrilled you showed up. Come hungry. This is my first review I've EVER written and I have to say I'm extremely disappointed. I placed an online order for pickup and as I arrive I'm waiting for 5 minutes at the counter while the worker is on his phone talking to his friends. He finally greets me and asks what I ordered, he then goes to grab my food (which isn't even packed yet) and continues to stay on the phone for another couple minutes in front of me as he slowlyyy packs the food. He then forgets to include one rice and two naans that I paid for. I tell him he forgot the items and he then goes BACK on the phone for another couple minutes before trying to put the items in, which at this point I was too frustrated and didn't want to make a scene so I just left. Safe to say I won't be coming back especially if I have to wait 10 minutes to pick up an online order that's already prepared. read more

SO so happy to have an Indian restaurant nearby!! I have missed the spices and aromas that only this hits. Nicely redone space filled with items to warm and comfort you. There is limited seating so even going early on a Monday we saw every table filled. You can and should make reservations and can also BYOB. We tried the vegetable samosas, butter chicken, chicken Marsala, and garlic naan. Good level and balance of spices. I could not be happier and more full! read more

We have been to Rumi twice now and the food is fabulous! It does get crowded and there is not a lot of seating so do make a reservation, but you can easily do that from the website. We have been traveling an hour to Camp Hill for Indian food and now we can just walk down the street, we are very spoiled and happy. Last night they served us a special we had as an appetizer, it was a circle of spiced ground lamb surrounded by amazing hummus. So delicious! I also had a special drink that had a cumin flavoring that was very different and I very much enjoyed. Prices are very reasonable, and the staff is dedicated and happy to serve. read more

The second we walked in we were welcomed by the staff and the smells of Indian spices. We ordered a little bit of everything on the menu and each item came out cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. We were able to speak with the owner and felt at home. Food was okay, people were short and not accommodating. Building was cold and not comfortable to have our family in.

The restaurant was clean, and the staff was pleasant and polite, but the food really was lacking a lot of flavor. A standout item is their chai tea. It was a ripoff/scam that they brought bottled water to the table and then charged you for each bottle that you opened when checking out. Didn't mention that the water was extra charge. Don't open the bottle water and ask for tapwater so you can save yourself the money on an otherwise already expensive dinner. Not worth the money. read more

Friendly staff and great food! We wanted to try something different than what is in our area and found Rumi. We got Vegetable Samosas for appetizers and that was fantastic! We've waited a long time for an Indian restaurant in Lewisburg. Rumi is welcoming and friendly and offers an interesting mix of Indian and Middle Eastern / Persian. Unfortunately, items listed on the menu are sometimes not available. At dinner yesterday evening, the first two items I attempted to order were not available. This was an early dinner (5pm) so its wasn't a case of the kitchen running out of popular items on a busy night. Rather disappointing. read more

Wow, I wish I could give Rumi 6 stars !! Right off the bat we were greeted warmly by staff. The mood in the room is great, modest but very nice decorations. I won't lie, the restaurant is a bit small (not very wide) so it can feel cramped, but it didn't bother us. We had a big party so we got a lot. We started off with the Papdi Chaat, vegetable samosas, and baba ganoush. Wow wow wow, they were all AMAZING. We were honestly blown away. Next, we ordered the chana masala, chicken tikka masala, and falafel plate for the table. Hands down, the falafel plate had some of the best falafel I've ever had. It tasted homemade and so fresh. The hummus was delicious too and the dressing was really refreshing. The chana masala had the perfect spice blend, and the chicken tikka masala was SO tender and flavorful! It wasn't overly spicy, so it would be nice if the restaurant maybe offered spice levels, as our family loves spicy food! Overall, this place was amazing.
