The waitress was kind and helpled us out with ordering. However we didn't like the food. The kabobs were great. But the rice was really plain. I guess maybe Persian food isnt my thing. I have a lot of respect for the owner who is an epitome of a courageous person who is still working and managing this place despite a disability that he has. The food is amazing and I have no complaints about the food but they need to change waiters ; they don't have people who take pride in their work. The waiters continue to mix up the orders , continue to forget things and the worst part about it is these waiters are thinking they are so smart that they don't even carry pen and Papers and they don't write anything down. I am a physician and I like to think from academic standpoint, I can memorize things better than those waiters but I STILL carry pen and papers with me all the time. No one should assume they are that smart or intelligent that they can remember multiple orders. This was my second time at Rumi's, my co worker introduced me to this place because the food was good. First time experience was good the food was good service not too bad. We went on a Friday after work with co workers and waited a little bit before being given a table. One of the waiters came to give me the menu but never asked if I wanted anything to drink while I waited for rest of the party to show up. Once my group was all there we had picked what we wanted and waited for someone to come take our order, and no one did. Than we asked the owner who walked by us like 5 times not bothering to ask if we were ready. We finally called someone after 25 mins to take our order. The food arrived like 40 mins after we ordered at this point we were getting agitated. The food was good, but we never had anyone come by to ask if food was good or get refills, or if we needed anything. Our water was out needed refills and couldn't get any waiter to listen to us, finally got a guy there to get us refill and more bread. Prior to that the owner came to another table and we asked if we could get refills he just took the empty plates from our table and never brought us anything. Just hung out behind the counter which was extremely rude and disrespectful. In the end of this bad experience he had an issue wanting to split the bills. We were looking forward to getting dessert but after the horrible service and bitch face and attitude of owner we decided to pay and just leave! Great place for Persian food with many different options. I tried the chicken koobideh as well as the beef koobideh and they both tasted amazing. What really complimented the dish very well was the side of onions that I thought was a nice side touch to compliment the rice and kabobs. The portions are also absolutely huge. You will definitely get full off your meal. The only thing is that it took them a while (possible almost 30-40 minutes) before my food came out. I was looking for a replacement Persian food restaurant for my favorite that had deteriorated due to Covid and the new owner who had literally run it into the ground. I've tried many Persian restaurants in my area and none compared to what my old favorite restaurant used to be. I read the mixed reviews on Rumi's and decided to drive the 20 minutes to give it a try. I was greeted with no smile by a soft-spoken gentleman, presumably of Iranian descent. He was the only one working and there were two other people seated and a few carry-out orders that he was tending to. For this reason, I'm not knocking off any stars for the extremely slow service. I placed my order and had asked for an appetizer of yogurt cucumber dip. He didn't write anything down, but got my order correct, so no affect on my review. He came back 15 minutes later to inform me they were out of the yogurt cucumber dip, but asked if I'd like to substitute for their other dip option. I thankfully declined, and noticed an eye roll and an impatient sigh, as if their was some underlying hostility. I was trying to figure out if he was just shy and overwhelmed, or actually being rude. I couldn't help but feel he either didn't like Americans or hated his job. I chalked it up to the latter, since my personal experience with other Persians in the restaurant business, has always been positive and I find them to be very friendly people. There was definitely a weird vibe with this server's demeanor. Not welcoming or friendly at all. Just harsh stares and a straight face throughout. I was, however, squeamish about the pita bread, after reading the reviews stating the owners "re-used" customers uneaten portions of the bread instead of tossing. However, the bread was served warm and tasted fresh. I probably sat there for 45 minutes before my meal was served, but for aforementioned reasons, not taking off any stars. The food did not disappoint!! It was absolutely delicious and plentiful in portion. I cannot speak highly enough about the boneless chicken and basmati rice. So flavorful and authentic, comparable even to my old favorite restaurant. The service was slow and a bit icy... but I left a 35% tip anyway, just because the food was so amazing!! I'm not so sure that I would dine in again, but I'd definitely order take-out and drive the 20 minutes to pick it up. Again, I cannot say enough good things about their food!! Soo so yummy!!! I have been coming here for years and have great experiences in the past. I recently picked up some food to go and can't say the same about the service. The middle age gentleman who pick up the order today doesn't have good customer service at all. He hurriedly hangs up the phone call once I placed the order and doesn't make me feel welcome when I show up to pick up my food. I will call next time before placing the order and will go somewhere else if this person picks up the phone again. I am sure others feel the same as I see the same treatment done for other customers. We called them to let this know and they said we need to let them know if it needs to be well done !! It's not like rice and chicken needs to be well done , it was under cooked and nobody can eat it - we payed $45 + tax on it . They never offered any new food until I asked them specifically asked about it - they were not happy to offer they will give some to replace the under cooked food(of course they asked to bring the food back) , since they were so reluctant, we tried to call them again to confirm will they really give some food. They never picked call We were their regular customers, Sorry Rumis you are loosing a customer and our customer friends because of bad quality food and treatment!! We entered into a beautiful restaurant with very nice settings and alive belly dancer. The hose this was extremely pleasant and polite we were seated immediately and waited on promptly. I ordered my favorite beef koonideh with salad. I also ordered the eggplant appetizer. Our appetizers with veggies and subzero arrived shortly there after and it was very delicious Fortunately the entrée was a bit disappointing I expected they need to be a lot fresher and cooks better. The proportions are quite large so I plenty to take him for a midnight snack :) i'm giving this restaurant 4 stars simply because they were understaffed and it took forever to get our food or to get our waiter to do anything for us. I was leaving out of town that same night I explain to him the food taste had a very bad smell he didn't put enough quantities of tomato and chilies and the meat was uncooked. He told me to come back right away. I told him I will bring the food back but I'm not going to be able to pick up more food because we're flying out in four hours. Excellent Persian food in Corona. We came in for a quick lunch and they were nice enough to take our order over the phone so that the food was ready by the time we got there. Upon check in we also got to chose a cold appetizer to munch on for free. I ordered the beef koobideh and my friend ordered the Combination beef and chicken koobideh. Both were juicy and very tasty, seasoned to perfection to say the least. Our server was friendly and was kind enough to go over the menu even though we had already ordered. This little gem is perfect for lunch, and we will be sure to come back. Parking is plentiful, and the restaurant is conveniently located right by the 91 freeway and 15 freeway. I'll take that kabob! Make it Juicy! Came here for a dinner and came into to this nice and chic, but small restaurant. Don't be deceived by the outside! I think it's the carpet that makes it look really nice. For dinner the prices are pretty insane. I want to say between $10-20/plate. I had a chicken kabob. Compared to Kabob Hutt, the chicken isn't as juicy. So Kabob Hutt wins with the juicy chicken. BUT the steak kabob wins here at Rumi's! Pretty juicy and just the way I like it. What I also liked about this place was the warm pita bread. I love getting WARM pita bread. The hummus was good too. For dessert we had this Persian sweet dessert with rosemary I believe. It wasn't that bad. Service is pretty good here! They are very attentive. Parking is good too and just in a small lot! read more
