I think this spot recently went under new ownership, and you can definitely tell they're still figuring it out. The service was a little slow and shaky, but they're clearly just working through those early opening pains. The vibe inside is cool, but the food leans a lot more casual cafe-style than a full-on dinner spot. We tried a few different items: - Bò Né (Sizzling Beef & Eggs): Comes out on a hot skillet swimming in a thick gravy, topped with two fried eggs, a side salad, and a warm baguette. It's decent comfort food, but nothing crazy. - Bún Bò Huế: The spicy beef noodle soup had okay flavor, but it lacked the deep, rich lemongrass punch you usually look for in a really good bowl. - Bánh Bèo: They serve these steamed rice cakes on a round woven tray with little individual dishes, topped with dried shrimp, scallions, and fried pork rinds. Nice presentation, but taste-wise it was pretty standard. The absolute highlight of the meal, though, was the sea salt Vietnamese Coffee. It comes topped with a thick layer of sea salt cream and a dusting of cocoa powder. It is really good, super strong, and hits exactly how it should. Honestly, it's a nice, chill space to hang out, but they just need some time to smooth out the service and tighten up the kitchen. Stopped by to get some coffee, in need of caffeine before the market shopping next door. Been here before and now it's bigger, with the garden and more tables inside. Parking is great with plenty surround the place. There are dine in menu and baked goods (which I had before and they are decent) with okey price tags. Coffee here is also good and service was nice and quick turnaround. If you want to enjoy an outdoor brunch place, this would be one of those places. They have a band and it's open mic. Where the 2-man band can play lots of oldies if you feel the urge to sing a few bars. As for the food, they are standard fare of indo-french and Vietnamese. One of my favorite place for VN coffee and Grilled pork Banh Mi. Pricey for a little banh mi. The service was standard. Good place to sit for coffee if you need to charge your EV. I knew of the place for years when it was called Cafe N Te. I love the VN coffee here because it is freshly made not pre-made like most VN coffee places. Pho was ok if you prefer clean broth taste. The grilled pork is tasty and so perfect with sriracha. The restaurant is spacious and sort of private, good location, near the freeway in a corner lot. read more

Fountain Valley, Ca. If you're charging your car this is a nice place to get a bite to eat. The food is exceptional and the service and ambience are great. The price point, in my opinion doesn't quite match up to the entire experience. In other words it is a very expensive lunch. We sampled a variety of dishes over several visits. There is an English translation for every menu item that is pretty clear. Without fail, when visiting we are the only English speakers there but the servers know enough so the orders are accurate. Some of our favorite dishes: Latte, very good and rich. ($7.00 !!) Affogato, very good but the ice cream tasted like cheap stuff from a big tub. Garlic noodles with shrimp, awesome. Shrimp spring rolled, loved them. Breakfast of eggs and sausage, great! Beef pho, tasty. Vermicelli with pork, good but stingy on the pork. Rice with chicken, good but unexpected presentation of a block of rice and two pieces of fried chicken (They say it's roasted). We do keep coming back so if anything is served that is worth further reporting I shall do so! read more

My family dined here for a weekend lunch. I believe there's potential for a much better experience, so I'm willing to give a revised review on the future. First, the positives of this visit. The staff were very polite and the food was delicious. Zero problems there. My problems were entirely with the overall service by the restaurant, which was very disorganized, slow, and inattentive! - Staff were never attentive to our table's needs. If we needed ANYTHING, we had to flag a server or bus person down to get any kind of service, including to take our order. - It was extremely difficult to simply get water for the table (which only happened because I asked the cashier to serve our table and wouldn't leave his line of sight until he personally got the glasses, filled the cups, and brought them to our table, because every other server acknowledged us then forgot about the waters). - One of our entrees took an hour to arrive, after we kept reminding the servers every ten minutes that the dish had been forgotten by the kitchen. The front of house manager needs to train the servers and/or redesign the system they have, because there is no flow and no ownership of tables by servers so that they serve their customers from start to finish. read more

The food is good but the staff and management are amateurs. They promote themselves as an event venue but shouldn't, We went for an event and was hugely disappointed by the service. The food came out at vastly different times so that many of the guests were finished eating before other guests at the same table were even served. The "one man band" was also a disappointment- nothing more than a mediocre DJ... he couldn't wait for the party to be over and actually stopped 10 minutes before the appointed time and then went into the restaurant to eat. Again very amateurish. He didn't know about the AV system (or didn't want to be bothered with it) nor did the restaurant staff, even though they actively promote those capabilities. The guest of honor provided both wine and gift bags for the guests and the restaurant staff totally blew them off until he insisted. They didn't provide wine glasses to all of the guests (apparently they don't have very many) and just left a dozen or so glasses (with the IKEA boxes) on a side table requiring the guest of honor to both pour and serve the wine to guests. The vast majority of guests didn't get their gifts bags because of the management/staff incompetence. There were multiple guests from Beverly Hills and other prominent communities who found the service severely lacking. My suggestion to the owners is fire everyone that is related to you or your friends and hire hospitality professionals to run your restaurant and serve your guests. read more

I went to a mini concert here last weekend and the program was wonderful with the well known Nguyen Hong Nhung singer and other singers are young and talented. The band was awesome too. The food and drink were good and they have the most helpful, kind and polite staff compared to other places. They will have these mini concert night on Thursday Friday and Saturday fr this May. I am looking forward to coming back there with more of my friends. They sang in English too on the night I came. The restaurant setting is romantic and beautiful. They have the old Saigon backdrop and even an old scooter for us to take pics in outside of the restaurant too, so it was fun and sentimental. The taro fries are creative, and the cononut slushies is a must try drink. read more

I like the interior of the restaurant. This is the type of restaurant with waiters that do good service but they aren't super friendly so if you like super interactive waiters this is not the place to go. I really liked my mango dragonfruit drink. My "Com Salmon plate" came out last out of all my family members food plates but it's expected because it was breakfast time and I feel like that's a more lunch/dinner dish. I would go here again. It was mid-Feb that we visited Runam Garden for lunch. We found this place on yelp and it had overwhelming 5 star reviews and outdoor seatings (for the dogs) so we were excited to try. Not sure if it was our luck, but our experience here was just average. The restaurant itself is spacious inside and looked newly decorated. The service was very friendly. Food was just okay. The popcorn chicken had only a few "biteable" pieces, the rest were just deep fried breading lumps. Beef Luc Lac was okay- beef cubes could be a bit more tender, an the sauce could be more flavorful. The price for both dishes seemed high considering the portion. We sat outside with our dogs, and they have live music/karaoke (?) going on. This whole scene was thoroughly confusing to me. I wasn't sure if the singers were hired performers or just customers going up to karaoke. The singers/music were extremely loud, to a point it was unpleasant. I left our lunch feeling confused. It seems like they are trying to build an upscale Vietnamese restaurant with its pretty decor and expensive-ish pricing. But the live music/karaoke part makes it causal and almost dive-y. Runam Garden is a new restaurant located in the same plaza as the Sunrise Supermarket & Re Ca Phe. It has a cute, aesthetic interior and an outdoor garden-esque dining area. There is plenty of parking, and the service is friendly. Their food is a take on upscale Vietnamese fusion dishes, but it's apparent that the focus was more on the decor of the place rather than the taste of the food. Before the food came out, we were all given a little sauce plate filled with Maggi seasoning sauce and a side of Sriracha. This was the most flavorful thing they gave us. Truffle fries ($9): 2/5 - The fries were crispy but came out looking like regular fries... dipped in excess oil. There were no truffle flakes, cheese, garlic, or anything on it. I think the only truffle flavor my friends and I tasted was the flavor we were trying to imagine and manifest onto the fries we were eating. Garlic noodles w/ salmon ($19): 2/5 - The salmon had a nice crisp to it, but the noodles were completely bland. There was little to no garlic flavor whatsoever. It felt like I was eating plain noodles that had just been taken out of boiled water. Shaken beef ($19): 2/5 - The beef texture was fine, but the flavor was really lacking. There was no sauce or flavor that kept us indulged. The portion size was also not fulfilling or worth the price. We stumbled upon this restaurant as we were charging our car. We didn't have much info on this place as it's been barely open for over a week or so. I noticed their dinner entrees looked great so we decided to see what they were serving for lunch. Outside band has live entertainment including karaoke. We opted to sit inside. The service was fast and the servers were attentive. My husband ordered the filet mignon/beef brisket pho which was flavorful and the meat was tenderized. They added flank and tendon which was a bonus. I ordered the bread with 2 sunny side up eggs and shaken beef. The baguette was served warm and precut for me. The eggs were perfectly cooked. I like how the shaken beef was served on a bed of cut up lettuce to give it more of a salad feeling. The beef was seasoned well and soft. Great brunch dish. I also asked for a side of broth. We will definitely be back when we are in the area and hopefully, we can try their dinner. read more

Came in for lunch with a group of friends and was really looking forward to trying this place. I ordered the lemongrass tofu with vermicelli, which was tasty and a fair portion for the price. I also had the Vietnamese coffee and really enjoyed it. It was bold and flavorful and definitely a highlight of the meal. A few of my friends ordered the traditional banh mi sandwiches and were pretty satisfied. But one friend ordered what she believed was a banh mi egg sandwich, only to be served what looked like a deconstructed version. It was just a French baguette and two eggs on the side. No seasoning, no veggies, no sauce, nothing. It was honestly shocking and pretty disappointing. Watching her try to make a meal out of that was hard, and it really brought down the vibe for all of us. We flagged it to the server to see if maybe there had been a mistake, but he just shrugged and said that is what is on the breakfast menu. No effort to clarify, explain, or offer an alternative. On top of that, no one checked in on us throughout the meal, and we had to go up to the front to pay because no one came by our table. It is unfortunate because the place has potential, but the lack of attentiveness and that breakfast situation made for a disappointing experience overall. Sadly, we will not be returning. read more

Not only did it come out in a small plastic Togo but it didn't even fill up! Instead of putting the sauces outside in a bag, they put 2 plastic cups of dipping sauces in the Togo with the little bits and chunks of left over chicken. I am definitely pleased with the food made and am looking forward to coming back to try more. I find the staff extremely friendly and respectful. The one negative complaint I have has to do with the wait time. Today was the worst, and considering the number of staff seen, I cannot see a reason for it. The long wait for the food is one thing, but to wait for a bill for a regular customer is really unprofessional. Management, please ensure you train staff waiting on customers are more efficient in time management, and minding that the customer's time is a consideration. I had to ask for my bill twice - staff need to do better than that. No tip given this time, but I will be back again and hopefully will see better. read more
