These type of cafes make traveling off the beaten path so much fun and worth it! This place get all 5 stars for ambiance, food AND service! Who doesn't like eating inside a former railroad car? Cute and clean! Food was delicious. Clam Chowder as recommended did not disappoint! I know, it is summertime but so glad that didn't deter me. Chowder was thick, flavorful and packed with clams! Our server, Jaze (rhymes with glaze) was a recent Howard Payne University graduate. He knew the menu, was personable and sincerely enjoyed his job and this cafe, which made us love it even more! Wanted something that wasn't a chain as I passed through, and this definitely fit the bill. You're eating in a rail car, set up diner style, with a small bar and compact booths lining either side beneath red neon. I feared we'd wandered into some kiddie theme restaurant, but glancing at the menu after seating ourselves relieved that. Jalapeno flecked the menu like the little green specks in peppered sausage, added to burgers, baked into buns, fried and... what's that? Jalapeno bacon? It made what would have been an only mediocre grilled chicken sandwich pretty great. Chicken was just a little dry. The sandwich came with some thick, crispy fries and a couple pickle spears. What a delightful surprise! We decided to try this place out on our way through Browneood to visit family. At first glance it seemed like a Denny's and the menu made me worry .....but the food was really delicious. The fries were probably in the top 5 I've ever had (and I am a FF connoisseur) and I had the RR BLT sandwich which was super tasty. That jalapeño bread is a great choice for the sandwich. Excellent food, and great service are some of the highlights of this place, but the main reason aside from a great diner experience is the atmosphere overall. It's a classic diner inside of a train car! What's not to like? Burger and fries is the way to go, but on a cold day give their clam chowder and fried jalapeno rings (bottlecaps) a try! Only reason I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is the weird music selection. I would expect 1950's Rock n Roll or blues in such an environment. The best part of the meal, hands down, was the jalapeño cheddar bun the club was on. The other ingredients were sub-par, but that's expected for diner food I guess. The queso looked & tasted like ball park queso out of a can and the tortilla chips were slightly stale. The service was very friendly though.
