When I think of a great food experience, I think of Crust Collective. My husband digs the beers, but I'm in it for the gluten-free deep dish pizza. I love that you can get traditional pizza toppings or creative combinations. The flavor of the pizza is amazing and I have heard that the gluten free crust is considered better than the regular by some people. This location gets busy, so if you can swing an early dinner or a meal at a slightly off time, your wait to sit will be shorter. We came in a bit before 5 when the patio seating was open and got to sit right away. When they are busy, you might wait a bit for food, but the servers are friendly and super knowledgeable about the menu items. We ordered the "something marvelous" (bbq chicken) and a pepperoni pizza (because kids) for our pizza. We also got the beets and burrata salad to start. This was more than enough food and we always take leftovers home. The weather was nice on the patio and you can see the waterfront and river from your seats. We've been here before. We will be back. As a vegetarian, there are very limited options at this time on the Vancouver Waterfront. But Ruse Brewing really fits the bill! I'm a big fan of Detroit-style pizza and I think Ruse's version is far superior to the nearby Ranch Pizza. However my fave offering is their sandwiches. The bread they make is excellent!! I would love to see them offer a few more vegetarian sandwich options; the Yola Caprese is quite tasty (their pesto is bomb) and the vegan hamburger sando is good, but they do such innovative work with fresh veggie pizza combos; I wish they would apply that same creativity to expanding their vegetarian sandwich varieties. One thing: The pick up timing is often off when you order online. Whenever I arrive at pick up, I find the food has been ready for a while. That's okay for a sandwich, but a bummer when it's a pizza and your food has gotten cold. Recommend always arriving a bit early for your pick up to account for this. read more

4.5/5 experience for vibes, service, taste, and overall experience. My husband and I shared the Quattro cheesy pizza with a side of ranch and their hot sauce. It was deliciously cheesy and gooey with super crispy edges. Also some of the better ranch I've had. I was curious about Crust collective's lunch offering of sandwiches and am happy to report they are 100% worth the $17+ price tag. I got the Chop shop sandwich for pick up and it was ready almost immediately after placing the order. The sandwich is pretty hefty so it definitely can be made into two meals, which I appreciate. The impossible beef was perfectly seasoned and had a great peppery flavor. The bread to filling ratio was spot on and the overall sandwich had just the right amount of sauce and mayo to not make the sandwich too dry or soggy. Stopped in with my family while walking around the waterfront we were craving pizza and decided to give this place a try. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere with lots of plants and great natural lighting, plus a lovely view of the river. We were seated right away, and our server was friendly and attentive. We did end up waiting close to an hour for our pizza, which felt a bit long considering it wasn't very busy and we ordered soon after sitting down. Not sure if it was a staffing issue or something else, but the wait stood out. When the pizza arrived, it was pretty good but not the best. All the flavors were just great! You can get a flights of however many flights you want. We tried each IPA and the one stout. Came on a sunny day. The place was poppin. Very busy. I paid $30 for the psychic pizza and 4oz of their ranch. Honestly I wasn't that impressed. It was good. But i didnt love it. The pizzas are more personal sized pizzas then something to share. Unless your looking for more of an appetizer type thing. They also only serve tap water. Would possibly come back. Our server was wonderful and the food came out quick. Because of the good service, and the food was really good, I'm giving them 3-stars, which means A-okay. But if I was basing it on food price & beer selection, I'd only give them 2-stars. Their Detroit-style pizzas are quite good, but expect to pay more for your food given their prime location on the Vancouver waterfront. On average, one of their pizzas which is the size of standard sheet of paper, is $25, and is 6 square-slices. We wanted to bring leftovers home, so we ordered 2 pizzas and got one with a gluten-free crust just to try it and compare. Their gluten-free crust was quite good, and still the right texture for the Detroit-style. The gluten-free crust, along with Vegan cheese, if you want it, are available for an up-charge. We also tried their seasonal salad, which was a hefty $18 so we expected something bigger, but it's currently just 7 slices of fresh peach (1/4" thick peach slices, not the bigger wedge-style slices), and a small pile of heirloom tomato chunks on top of some ricotta and topped with drizzle of hot honey & olive oil and a sprinkling of fresh basil & dill. Delicious, yes, but for $18? Ouch. Aside from price, the other disappointment, given they are their own brewery, was although there's a dozen of their own beers on tap, 10 of them are IPAs. This review is for their sandwiches. Their pizza is so good but I didn't see much about heir sandwiches. I ordered the Monty. It was $17 and then I added chips and a pickle, so $19, which is definitely a little spendy. The sandwich is good though, the bread was very fresh and plenty of fillings. This particular sandwich had a maple Dijon, which is one the sweet side for me. If I ordered again, I would forgo this. But if you are on the waterfront and want a good sandwich it's a good option. I would say their pizza is better, and their sandwiches are more a 4/5. read more

Incredible place, and after 2 visits while in town this yr, I can confidently say is a place I'll drop into every oppty I get. First off, the beers are top notch, constantly rotating options both on draft and to go. I love the ability to get 5oz "sampler" pours with no min/max commitments. Secondly, who knew it'd be Portland of all places where I got exposed to Detroit style pizza. Whether or not it's 100% "authentic" I'll let someone with more experience chime in but it's a damn good pizza. Excellent crisp on the crust, fantastic toppings and sauce. The location is great and the pizza is good, though definitely overpriced. Unfortunately, the service completely outweighs the food. The first time we visited, our server was rude and short with us while tables without young children seemed to receive much friendlier service. When I tried to use the changing table in the restroom, it literally fell off the wall. I assumed it was just a busy Saturday and decided to give the place another chance a few months later. The restaurant was nearly empty (one person at the bar). When I asked for a high chair, the waitress bluntly said they didn't have any. We tried to make it work with my daughter on my lap or sitting next to me, which any parent knows is difficult with a wiggly toddler. The entire time we were there, the staff made us feel unwelcome and out of place. If you're going without kids, you might enjoy it. But based on our experiences, this is clearly not a family-friendly restaurant, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone dining with young children. read more

Every time we travel down to Portland we stop at Crust for awesome Detroit style pizza. It's deep dish with cheese and toppings all the way to the crispy delicious edges. We have tried every pizza they make and they are all outstanding. However, the Greek pizza should have kalamata olives on it and not regular ripe black olives. It does that Greek pizza a huge disappointment. I never ordered again because of that and I am deducting a star for the bad judgement. The beer is also outstanding with constant changing selections. My favorite is always the fluorescent farm. I remember when batch #1 came out. The service is friendly. The ambience can get noisy, but it is super clean and minimal. There is also outdoor seating. Solid, solid pizza! We came by here on the Vancouver waterfront and were very happy to find a spot that offers vegan (dairy free) cheese on the menu. Past this, they offer Impossible vegan sausage and a really nice veg pepperoni. We snagged a great outdoor table and a very affordable bottle of Oregon white wine for under $40. Both pizzas - meat and vegan - were very well prepared and each pizza feeds two. We also loved that the crust was large but not super heavy or drab - it was light enough to feel like dancing after the meal. Great spot! read more

The food at this place was delicious. My friend, his son, and I decided to try it for the first time today, and the flavors blew us away. This was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. We kicked off with a Caesar salad, which was so generous in size that we split it three ways, and it was just the right portion for us. As soon as we polished off the salad, our pizzas arrived. I couldn't decide which pizza I liked better; I've never been a massive fan of deep-dish pizza until now. I've honestly been converted. Wow!!!! What an amazing pizza spot on the Vancouver waterfront boardwalk. We stop by when things were slow. The waterfront picks up as the evening goes. The wait staff are very kind and helpful. And the atmosphere was pretty chill. We decided to sit outside to take advantage of the warm weather while we still have it. We both ordered separate pizza. They had a number of great choices that we could decide on one to split. Once the pizza arrived I was initially intrigued because the crust looked different than any other pizza you've probably experienced. Not sure how they did it, but the cheese because the crust in some ways. It had a nice crunch to it. The toppings were super delicious. Pepperoni, fennel sausage, cured ham, and delicious mozzarella.
