Been patiently waiting for them to open back up post quarantine, so when my partner texted me "EMERGENCY, RUSH IN DUMPLINGS OPEN" last night we knew exactly where were were ordering lunch from today. We tried the Classic and Loaded dumplings, borscht soup, kvass rye drink, and the man who rang our order out kindly threw in some cookies :) which totally made our day. Being from the east coast, I had never heard of these things. But being a big fan of pierogis means I had to give it a go. The sweet and spicy were my favorite, followed by the classic. First time coming here after I heard really good reviews. I ordered the beef Curry which they were out of, asked for salad instead.. nope, out again. Finally ordered the classic with sour cream on the side, my husband got the loaded and I asked for just plain potato and cheese for our 4yr old. They brought out my dish with huge lumps of sour cream and Curry sprinkled on top. Wtf? Curry is not a seasoning like pepper. You don't sprinkle it. So wrong!! The sauce was spicy and sour. Basically disgusting. They gave our daughter the same dish as mine. Not what I asked for. Husbands was swimming in oil and the cheese not melted. Where did the oil even come from? Was that the sauce? Boyfriend and I used to love going to Pelmeni in Bellingham, so we finally decided to try this place. I got the Siberian Classic with potato, and he got the Rush In Loaded with beef. Prices were expensive for decent portions. Staff was pleasant but not outstanding. Our order took what seemed like slightly a long time, considering ours was the only one they were working on at the moment. We sat upstairs, and there was a sort of sketchy group of people clustered at one end, but they all had empty bowls on their table so they obviously weren't waiting on orders as well. The vibe of the restaurant was overall pretty dingy, in decor and atmosphere. Dumplings by themselves were fine, cooked properly. But it's really the toppings that make the meal, and in this case... they didn't. On my boyfriend's, the bacon bits were basically still frozen. On mine, the sauce wasn't "sriracha vinegar," it was seriously like straight vinegar with a little bit of melted butter in it, and no sriracha to be seen. It was so acidic and awful! The dumplings on the top that just had curry, cilantro, and sour cream on them were okay to eat, but the ones on the bottom that had been soaking in the vinegar were awful. The bread that came with each order was completely bland and textureless. Won't be returning. read more

Finally something new and unique to Olympia instead of another Teriyaki or Pho restaurant! What a fantastic welcome to downtown, I had the Siberian Classic and Pelmeni Salad both with potato. The pricing and portions are perfect for a fresh hand made meal at lunch time. I normally have to drive all the way up to Seattle for a good dumpling meal so $8 a bowl is an awesome price! I was a little worried that the portions would be too small, but that was completely unfounded as I was stuffed about three quarters of the way through the meal. Going to bring my family back for dinner soon to try the Curry Beef broth and Pelmini Chicken Soup. read more

Go with the classic! Vinegar belongs with these dumplings. I got the loaded, which was tasty but not as coherent of a flavor as the classic. You can order two types (Chicken, Beef, or Cheese and Potato) with one sauce flavor. Sad we missed out on the Rushin Cake, they were making more while we were there but it wasn't ready. I liked it. Can't believe all the whiners here that want fresh and unique food for McDonald's prices. I'm sorry, but this ain't on the dollar menu. Portion was filling. I had the classic and hope to try the others. I would prefer creamier sauces ala the recently closed Vostok in Tacoma and Seattle. But oh well. I wish you luck! Loved it! We decided to try on a whim. Staying a GWL about 30 min away, we were tired of fried mediocre food. Rush In Alaskan was PERFECT and hit the spot! The four of us ordered the dumplings four different ways. Dumplings were delicious and hearty. Perfect for dinner on a cold evening. Can't get enough of the Alaskan style dumplings. The caramelized onions it comes with are delicious. Love that there are two sizes, I now opt for the larger one :-O Good amount of food for a decent price. The piroshki here is also wonderful. Great pelmeni's! The dumplings were tasty, with classic curry versions and bacon, scallion and cheese. I didn't see a dill option, but I'll ask next time. The atmosphere was nice. Very causal, like you would expect for downtown. Note the other reviewers are correct - the portion sizes are a bit small. While I agree with Andrew that there are a lot of restaurants in the Oly area - I believe there is a dearth of GOOD restaurants in Oly. This is an exception. read more

We walked up and down the main strip downtown in Olympia trying to find a decent place to eat. We were about to give up when we happened across Rush In Alaskan Dumplings. We decided to give it a shot and were pleasantly surprised. The food is not too expensive and everything we ate was great. I had the loaded dumplings with potato and mushroom, borscht, beet salad, and some coffee. It was all very delicious. I will definitely be going back. I especially recommend the borscht. We spent the day at the Capital Lake Park, and we wanted to grad something light to eat and not a huge meal. We found this place on yelp. The pictures made the dumplings look very good. We decided to try this place out. The restaurant is pretty small itself. Order downstairs and sit upstairs (they bring your food when it's ready). When they brought our food, it smelled and looked very very good. We ordered the "loaded" plate (sour cream, bacon, cheese, green onion). For the dumpling choice, we did half chicken and half potato/cheese. Everything tastes very good. The bacon bits seemed like they might not have been completely fresh but overall the meal was perfect. If we will be in the area (we're from Seattle) we will definitely go back for more of those dumplings. read more

Wow. We ordered the classic, loaded, and sweet and spicy dumplings as well as the borscht. We ended up trying every type of dumpling they had. Two bowls of borscht and 3 orders of 18 dumplings filled our group of 5. The gentleman we encountered at the front was helpful and incredibly patient with us, but I don't think you could order anything that wouldn't be just delicious! Delicious ethnic-ish food for decent prices. I went here hoping I had found the closest thing to pierogi (Polish/Russian style dumplings), and I think this is as close as it gets without a long drive to a larger city. Although the dumplings aren't the most authentic, they are extremely delicious (I had the Rush In Dumplings with beef) and certainly a thousand times better than the frozen "pierogi" you can buy at a specialty European grocer. Their Rush In Cake is their own take on baklava, which is basically baklava served with a hearty helping of whipped cream, drizzled with caramel syrup, is equally delicious. I had their dumplings once before and I didn't like them then we tried them a second time and I don't like them now. I ordered dumplings that were more traditional the first time the second time I ordered the sweet and spicy dumpling and they didn't taste any different. I had Polish grandparents growing up and I make some vinigary dishes and I know how to add some sweetness and spiciness to add more flavor profile to the dishes I grew up with. read more

Rush In is a great little place tucked away in downtown Olympia. It's menu has around 20 items listed on it. They serve wine and beer as well. My husband and I had the Rush In Coleslaw, Loaded beef and pork Dumplings, walnut cookies and Kvass. The coleslaw was a bit bland but when a bit of salt is sprinkled on it, Yummylicious! The Pork and Beef Dumplings were phenomenal. Absolutely delicious and fresh. The Kvass is a type of lightly carbonated drink made out of different breads. It's an unusual drink and the flavor isn't to bad either. My suggestion is to give it a try and open your palate to new things. The Walnut Cookies were also amazing. A little walnut shaped cookie filled with a caramel type filling. Soooo, yummy! The little restraunt has an upstairs balcony type seating and is comfortable for short period seating. The hostess has a cute accent, Russian maybe, I did not ask, she seemed busy to chat with but shes very friendly. We will deffinately be going back for more. read more

Potatoe piroshki would probably taste OK if they weren't microwaved. It made them soggy. They are not supposed to be soggy!
