Love coming here with the kiddos. They like being able to choose different dumplings. Also tried the flaky pierogi, (potato and cheese) which was delicious warmed. The waitress, Svetlana (actually her name was Sarah, but she embraced the role), had the commanding presence of someone who could wrestle a moose while reciting Pushkin. When she brought out the vodka flight, each shot glass was balanced on a miniature ice sculpture of various Russian presidents riding different Arctic animals. I WEPT. The pelmeni dumplings? THEY FLOAT. I don't mean metaphorically - they actually hover 2 inches above the plate. The kitchen must employ a quantum physicist. The beef stroganoff was so tender, it made my grandmother question everything she knew about cooking, and she's been dead for 12 years. Their signature dish, "The Siberian Surprise," comes served in a hollowed-out block of ice with a tiny working hammer and sickle to crack it open. Inside? Ever since traveling to Kyrgyzstan and trying pelmeni for the first time, it has become my favorite fo. The service is fantastic, and they have good music playing (which is rare for any restaurant). I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday evening. We ordered almost every dumpling combination - classic, sweet and spicy, loaded with either pork, chicken or potato but it just didn't hit for me. I didn't quite like it, I didn't enjoy the sauce combinations. I shared the chicken soup with dumplings with a friend and that was delicious. That was great. We ended with the chocolate cake and the honey cake. Both were so good that we ordered them again. I particularly loved the chocolate cake, never tasted something like that before. It had this creamy center that tasted like mouse, definitely recommend this! There was only one person who was cooking and serving and there were 2 big tables which led to a bit of a wait. Small little place in small strip mall. There's a bunch of tables to dine in if you like. They have a nice clean bathroom ( always a plus in my book). My kids have gone here before and were raving about the beef pierogi so we all stopped in for lunch. So there was a selection of fillings you can choose from and the style they're prepared. We ordered the potato mushroom, the beef and pork, potato cheese and bacon and the beef. You can order in different sizes-12,18 or 24. Son got the 24, the rest of us got the 18 which was enough to make us pretty full. Son was stuffed. I'd say get the 18 and and appetizer. We all agreed that the beef with classic Alaskan style (without the sriracha) was the best. The potato mushroom loaded the least favorite- too bland. The chicken soup was pretty good but the borscht! Wow! It was so good with pieces of meat, potato and beet. Best borscht I have tasted so far. We also got a cheese and potato piroshky which was light and flaky, not super dense and heavy like others we've had. It was on the small size- kind of the size of a MacDonald's apple pie. But it was yummy. AND the beer was $5 as long as you order food! To top it off we shared the honey cake. I love that they are doing this! Let's talk food It was good, not horrible, but not great either. First up: Plain Dumplings 12c Chicken + Pork filling I got these strategically. How were these plain little pocket of nuggets Unfortunately they were under seasoned. I did get Alaskan Spicy Sauce + $1.00 on the side, not my vibe, so it didn't care to dip it. The sour cream also didn't help. Because what it comes down to is the filling. It just lacked seasoning. Chicken, Beef and Pork Pierogis Had to get their version of a pierogi. Loved how flaky this was! Absolutely delicious on that front. Yet again, the inside was not seasoned at all. Lastly, I got the Loaded Dumplings potato + cheese While the cheese and bacon added salt the inside again was not seasoned well enough. Really fun concept! Definitely give it a go! We always enjoy our dining experience whether it is in person or carryout. The dumplings are great. There are many choices of fillings. My favorite dumplings are the chicken and pork. My wife enjoys the potato and cheese. We also enjoy the puff pastry shell pierogis. The happy hour deal is incredible: buy a large beer and get a dozen dumplings free. Dumplings are tasty (sweet and spicy sauce was my favorite) but the serving sizes are TINY. Each dumpling is about the size of a single serve creamer cup. You can order 12 or 18 dumplings, and I feel that I could have eaten probably 48 dumplings or more. At $11/dozen or $14/18 dumplings, this would have been a $42-44 lunch. What can I say but "oh man this was delicious". We ordered just about everything on the menu; borscht, Russian coleslaw, all of the dumplings (some chicken some potatoes and cheese), perogies, and more dumplings. And. Holy cow. He called in before we arrived to try to get a read on the place; talked to Yelena, very blatantly asked if it was any good and if it was authentic. Yelena was a champ, took it all and rolled with it! I would like to clarify he wasn't rude, but surprisingly direct . She even let us move tables together to sit by the window and didn't have a problem with our kiddo with the zoomies running around the place. Very personable and very cool lady. We show up and Yelena is the only one working there but the service doesn't suffer at all. She tells us she's from Minsk and she makes all the food herself. So we start with some beer (the only not Russian-ish thing there- I say "ish" because they do a bit of an American fusion with some of their dumplings). The beer was good local microbrews. Then we started with dumplings- I think we did the original and the buffalo dumplings, split chicken and potato filling. All four versions were great but I preferred the potato. We carried on getting all of the other stuff I listed above. It was all great but that borscht was INCREDIBLE. So was the coleslaw, honestly. I was expecting something a little different. I've eaten pel meni for many years, and that's what I thought this was going to be. There was more vinegar in the Alaskan classic than I'm used to. My daughter said that in the loaded, the ham tasted like the ham in a lunchable. The perogi, the pastry was pretty bland, and not flaky like I was expecting it to be. Just tried this place and it is really good. Had the beef and pork dumplings Buffalo style which were not too spicy and really well done. Also had the beef and pierogie and it had a light flaky crust and was really good. The wife had the potato dumplings and they were awesome as well. Highly recommend this place. I wanted this place to be good, unfortunately my experience here was not great. I ordered the loaded perogies and the sweet and sour perogies. I didn't receive the Alaskan sauce I ordered and the perogies are plain...nothing "loaded" or sweet and sour about them. I've had my fair share of perogies and the ones I received can be purchased at any European store for less than $15 for a huge bag. Maybe the in person experience would have been worth it, but it's football Sunday. I ain't moving from my couch. Be prepared. If your first experience with these dumplings was at their food truck, the menu is not the same as in their store. They had no idea what I was describing when I said my dumplings were served with a "brown" sauce. That's when they admitted the sauces on the truck are different than what they have in the store, and a lot of people ask about it. That said, the dumplings were just as delicious as they sold from their truck, but the "brown" sauce they recommended was not the same. In fact, it was such a strong vinegar flavor that we did not eat it. We did love their "classic" sauce, a mix of mayo, spices, and Sriracha. Overall, would visit again! read more

We tried to call ahead to make sure the business was still open but the number wouldn't go through. So we drove over anyways planning on going over to another restaurant if closed. When we got there the sign says open but there was a note stating they were opening at 5:30pm, 30 minutes wait just to see if they would open. We really wanted to try the food so we waited. One person showed up, said he was called in to help. He was very friendly and answered questions we had about the food, drinks and dessert. They are small but tasty, though we were both surprised at how NOT filling they were as we were both hungry a couple of hours later. I was surprised that we were charged for the sour cream in borsch....I've never seen this before. It's fine if you want to have a higher price but don't sneak in extra charges. The usual rye bread for the borsh was not provided and overall for 3 ppl we ended up spending almost $80. Ive stopped in a couple of times to enjoy some dumplings and borscht and everytime its been delicious. The people working there are very friendly and its a short wait for your food which is sold at a good price point! Definately plan on continuing to come back and would recommend, its a very cozy building with classic rock which is a plus. read more
