Service was great there was an older gentleman working it alone and it got busy, but he still managed it and worked his butt off! Very charming place raspy cozy. Food was yummy!!!

Nice place. The food was not bad. This was my first time trying Borscht and it was surprisingly good. Also tried the honey cake and thought it was dry.

Not sure what's going on. Don't order via DoorDash. This was taken 12/8/24. Hoping for the best, they have wonderful food!

Love these guys! I'm not sure what's going on, but do not order on DoorDash. This is from 12/09/24. Wishing them nothing but the best, we love their food!

The meat dumplings is super delicious! The sweet and spicy sauce that accompanies the dumplings are also very delicious. So good we ate it all and asked for more. The soup was also good. Service was also excellent!

Small little place in small strip mall. There's a bunch of tables to dine in if you like. They have a nice clean bathroom ( always a plus in my book). My kids have gone here before and were raving about the beef pierogi so we all stopped in for lunch. So there was a selection of fillings you can choose from and the style they're prepared. We ordered the potato mushroom, the beef and pork, potato cheese and bacon and the beef. You can order in different sizes-12,18 or 24. Son got the 24, the rest of us got the 18 which was enough to make us pretty full. Son was stuffed. I'd say get the 18 and and appetizer. We all agreed that the beef with classic Alaskan style (without the sriracha) was the best. The potato mushroom loaded the least favorite- too bland. The chicken soup was pretty good but the borscht! Wow! It was so good with pieces of meat, potato and beet. Best borscht I have tasted so far. We also got a cheese and potato piroshky which was light and flaky, not super dense and heavy like others we've had. It was on the small size- kind of the size of a MacDonald's apple pie. But it was yummy. AND the beer was $5 as long as you order food! To top it off we shared the honey cake. It looked like it would be dry but no, it wasn't and it had a nice honey flavor which wasn't overly sweet. Thumbs up for this place

Being Russian I wasn't expecting too much having never been to an Eastern European restaurant, but it tasted great! I wasn't disappointed at all, and me and my friend finished our entire plates. There is a good selection of dumplings and toppings, as well as other food & treats, including borscht and dill pickles. Drinks are limited to those in the stand up fridge, or water from a self serve cooler. The dumplings are good, but decidedly underwhelming for $1.04 a dumpling (18 pieces = $18.80). We had the Alaskan and the Classic, and while enjoyable, I didn't think they were anything to write home about. Meh. Our total bill for two 18 piece plates, a square of honey cake and 1 can of soda was over $45, not including tip. While the old Security & White Building location has a charming vibe, the upstairs seating is definitely NOT easily accessible for those with mobility challenges. I want to like this place more, so I might be back to try their piroshki.

I ended up focusing on breads, kvass, smoked and canned meats, cheeses, soup bases, ajvar, chocolates, and biscuits....before I knew it my cart was getting a bit full! Pro tip: bring a cooler to keep your perishables safe on lengthy treks. There are comparable but smaller shops in North Seattle, Shoreline, Lynnwood, and Everett. But if you're in Tacoma/South Sound, this is a great detour for Eastern European groceries and culinary fans!

The place was very busy even at 9 pm but we found a lot of treats in the market and then headed over to the deli to order 3 pastries but the line was very long and we could not even see where to line up at the counter but noticed some others ordering from a kiosk so my son and I both ordered and paid on the kiosk and waited for our number to be called. There seemed to be no sense of order or numbers being called so we were confused after waiting 10 min. just for pastries to be taken out of the window and handed to us. But it was quite busy so we waited patiently. 15 minutes goes by and still no numbers being called so we were confused and noticed that others were standing in a line to one of the registers so I decided to just wait in line even though I waited in line already to use the kiosk and ordered & paid already. I waited about 6-7 min. in line and when we got up to the front I told the cashier that I was sorry, we did not know we had to order at the register but that we ordered and paid at the kiosk and gave her my number and my son's and she picked up our order receipts on her side of the counter and looked at them and told me that someone would help us in a few minutes and set the receipts down and took the next customer, so we assumed someone was going to work on our order. So we moved over in front of the pastries again and waited. And waited. While the girl I had just spoken to was taking orders from others in line and making and bagging/boxing their orders AS they ordered with her. Completely ignoring the fact that we had just waited in line again and had already paid for our orders and she chose to skip our order, not box them and took others orders after telling me that someone would be with us. She took several orders for about 15 more minutes and still no one helped us, so I went to stand in line again because now at this point it seemed purposeful and discriminatory as she took orders and fulfilled orders as soon as she took them and ignored us. We are not of European/Ukranian descent and did not speak the language but the customers she helped all did. So now, after being more than patient I was getting angry. We had been waiting for more than 40-45 minutes at this point. AFTER we had already ordered and PAID. I kept looking at her thinking she is going to pack our order but she kept working on others, but she made eye contact with me many times, knowing we were waiting. Finally when I was about to say something to another clerk she comes over and asks us if we wanted it packed together. Like we had not been made to wait for over 40 minutes till she acknowldged us. No apology, nothing. She packed our 3 pastries and we were not happy at all, especially after leaving a tip at the kiosk. I did not get her name but she was the only dark-haired/brunette behind the counter. The saving grace was the cashier at the front, a very friendly gentleman who saved our trip but not enough to want to come back to your market again. I understand being busy, I work in the food industry-but to have no direction, no sense of urgency, no customer service skills at all and to be made to feel like the bad service was purposeful, no thank you. We don't need to visit again. Which is sad because I love to learn about other cultures and enjoy their cuisine and the market was delightful and everything we purchased was delicious but we know when we are not welcome at an establishment so we will spend our money elsewhere. After posting this review I went and read how many others felt discriminated against as people of color(we are Asian), and see a theme here. If more than one customer has felt this way, obviously this is an issue that has not been addressed. Again, the cashier at the market was very friendly but your servers behind the cafe/deli counter need some training on customer service and discriminating practices. Such a shame for a business to allow this behavior to continue.

Fitchi is a stuffed pastry from Uzbekistan/Turkmenistan, and surprisingly when I googled what fitchi was, there weren't a whole lot of search results, so I am ready for a special culinary adventure! When we arrived, it was 2pm and we got the last table and had to wait for 2 chairs to be unoccupied, since it is a place where you sit anywhere and grab chairs from other tables if you need for larger groups. We got 1 chicken and 1 beef fitchi to share, which was $5.50 each + tax, which is a really good deal considering the size of the fitchi. Food does take a while to get since they make fresh to order, so expect 20-30 minutes wait for the food. It was a bit interesting the fitchi is served with a side of ranch, and the server gave us 2 spoons and 2 knives to eat it. The beef fitchi is amazing - very flavorful and juicy. The chicken fitchi is also good but does not carry the level of seasoning as the beef one, but you should try both. Overall, solid, humble restaurant to check out food that you don't typically see often!

Central Asian cuisine is shared by Uyghur Chinese, Uzbeks, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, and Turkmens. Many famous cuisines, like Turkish, Persian, and Indian, have roots in this region. A warm and passionate lady from Kyrgyzstan runs Fitchi House, recreating the exact dishes she grew up with. No wonder everything is so delicious! I've enjoyed their signature dish, Fitchi (Central Asian meat pie), many times, and it's always a winner! For the first time, I tried three new dishes--and they're all must-tries: Laghman: Hand-pulled noodles topped with fried meat, veggies, and savory stew. Hand pulling the noodles are the real deal--perfectly chewy and complement the toppings beautifully. I totally loved it! Gosh Naan: A deep-fried meat pie, a staple of Uyghur and Kyrgyz cuisine. It's crispy outside, savory inside, and surprisingly not oily. Absolutely delicious. Kazan Kabab: Meat cooked with subtle spices in a special wok called Kazan, served with jasmine rice. It looks simple, but the meat is packed with flavor--an explosion created by subtle spices that pairs perfectly with the jasmine rice. An Uzbek dish, but eaten all over central asia. They also offer a full menu of Italian Pizzas, all Halal--one of the rare places in Seatle serving traditional pizzas ( whereas most places serve Halal Pizza only Indian style) like this. No wonder Central Asians are known for being the world's best bakers! When I asked for their top three dishes, they had a hard time choosing because every dish is a heartfelt recreation of their own kitchen. The inside is small but gives off a homely feeling. If you strike up a chat, you'll feel like you've been invited into a Kyrgyz home kitchen. Truly an amazing addition to Seattle's food scene! Pro Tip: Don't miss their Fitchis and Samsas!
