Hmmmmm I almost hate to review this place with all the 5 star ratings.... :( maybe I caught them on a bad night. We ordered tonight (Friday 5/5)-- called our order in for pickup.... a super half pepperoni. And it wasn't all that :( sorry. It was for my niece, nephew and myself.... I asked them how's the pizza.... my niece response was, "it tastes weird". As for me, I was expecting GREAT with the 5 star rating so yes, I was let down... tremendously. and our pie was burnt.... oops! Lol And they weren't busy. It was very empty. This place is very good. I'm a diehard Milano's fan, but every now and then we'll go for Russo's and they never dissappont. They put a lot of cheese on their pies, and I don't have to ask for it well done in order to get orange cheese which is awesome. It says they know a thing or two about how to bake that pie! Another thing is that their prices are super reasonable and their calzone style 'pizza puffs' are absolutely gigantic; big enough to feed two people! Finally, the best thing is that they deliver to Blue Island. Yay! No more overpriced & overrated Beggars pizza for me! The only complaint I have is that they are only open for a few hours each day (about 4pm-8:30pm I believe), so make sure to order within that time frame. It's a pizza joint. Plain and simple. They do offer sandwiches and dinners. But it's just pure pizza. Just order your pizza and take it home. There's a few seats for waiting, but that's it. Thin crust pizza cut into squares. It has a limited amount of toppings (no pineapples or chicken). But that's how I like my pizza. Just gimmie sausage and cheese please! Pricing is nice and the food is always fresh. The sizes go all the way to 21 inches I think. Don't get the $5 franchise pizza. Spend a little more and get a pie you can share with your friends, even if it's just your imaginary buddy Charlie. read more

I'm upgrading Russo's to 5 stars. As long as you stay away from any sort of "deep dish" pizza on their menu, you can't go wrong. The place itself looks pretty skanky from the outside. Who really cares though since it is carry out and delivery only? You can find good coupons in mailers and local papers. Now to the pizza-it was delicious!! I am a pizza freak and know a good pie. So far I've only eaten the thin crust but it was damn good. If you are from the area it is similar in thinness to Palermo's (sauce is not as sweet) or maybe Barraco's and Durbin's. This place is no frills, so only southsiders would get pizza here. You know what, that's because they know what good tavern-style and deep-dish pizza tastes like. Russo's is phenomenal. I have a feeling they are linked with Russo's Distribution, which supplies a lot of the best restaurants with Italian sausage. Either way, this is legit. Their sausage is the best. We just ordered for the first time after their pizza was recommended to us. I unwrapped the pizza and was greeted by a LOT of grease. I did my best to soak it up with a paper towel. We ordered sausage and cheese. It was too salty. The crust was not crispy. I like thin crust, but not flimsy crust. I'm giving Russo's a star only because my boyfriend ordered the ginormous pizza puff and loved it. I don't see us ordering the pizza again. Had a lot of bad pizza since covid started, surprisingly from formerly great places. Decided to check out this one because of the nostalgic look of their sign. Was greeted warmly and not rudely rushed into deciding my order. They handed me the tv remote and told me to put on whatever I want. When the pizza arrived, it was one of those times you can "just tell by looking at it" how great it was going to be: generous fresh tasting sausage.....tasty slightly chunky-which is a good thing- sauce.....Extra (and boy, was it ever) thin crust. MOST PLACES WILL NOT LISTEN TO A CUSTOMER with this request and will make it a hand tossed, which to me, seems like spite..... And finally, Russo's were magically able to have a nice brownish topping to the cheese without it getting hard. Easily an 11 outta 10 pizza. I walked up to the counter to get a water, and observed a slower pace at building the pizza, as opposed to the haphazard don't care attitude at other places. Decided to order a chicken Parm sandwich to go so I could add on this review. WOW. I estimated it to be a 9" for ONLY around 6 bucks?!?! AND it was GOOD?!?! The other sandwiches are also reasonably priced. The only drawback to this place is that it's not in a beautiful fancy restaurant building with lots of tables and a parking lot that can accommodate the steady parade of nonstop customers these cooks deserve. Its the best my favorite is Cheese Sausage mushroom green pepper!! make sure to get it well done with extra sauce! my mouth I watering just thinking of there pizza! Oh my there Anti Pasta salad is so big with loads of cheese, olives, ham, and so on! I have ordered twice in the last week. I can say this: they're good. You really wouldn't notice this place is you aren't looking for it. You'd almost think it "was" a pizza place that has since closed. They open at 4 and close around 9ish. If you do happen to catch them when they're open, I suggest swinging in. The pizza is good and reasonably priced. I had the manicotti, which I thought was pretty good! I thought it was kinda weird that it had baked cheese on it (kinda like ravioli), but no complaints about it. I recently tasted the "Fritz" that so many have spoken highly of, and I recommend this as the go-to item on the menu. I consider myself a huge critic of pizza places, so please know I think highly of them to rank them 5/5. Keep up the good work. Only complaint is the hours. Five hours isn't long enough. They have a FB page but no real marketing or website for menu. The couple scans out there seem accurate. I went because of a FB post about calzones before looking at scanned menu. They do NOT have calzones, they do have plate sized pizza puffs that was very tasty and extremely affordable. No frills set up for take out, couple tables looked like garage sale material. Everything we ordered was perfect. Don't know if it was just our lucky day but we were totally satisfied. Good prices too. We picked up our order - about a 30 min wait time, pretty standard. I would order again for certain. The cashier was friendly enough and the place looked clean. I think it may be a family run business. I could see some of the guys working in the back and I thought that was cool. I'm a fan of spinach, kale and artichoke dip OMG it was good. I had always been a big fan of Russo's pizza for the last twenty one years that I have lived in Alsip but last night 3/14/14 I was severely let down when at only 8:12 pm I tried to order two deep dish pizzas. I was told that it was too late in the evening to get that order made ! What a load of B.S. ! Some one was either too lazy or was in a big hurry togo home to make my order ! Being very dissipointed, I decided to call Nancy's Pizza right down the street and got my Two Deep Dish pizzas and an order of chicken wings in less than 45 minutes. The last 4 digits of the number that placed the order was 1456 and you know who answered the call ! The last 4digits of the home phone # are 0678 so you know who I am and that I will Never order or refer any one to order from you ever again. I am verry sorry for your loss :( read more
