Visiting family nearby, Mom & I stopped in this bakery for a late breakfast this week. We were delighted to see so many choices on the menu - from soups, salads, and sandwiches to breakfast items and treat. And of course the best coffee drinks that come to mind. Mom decided on a piece of quiche and poppy seed lemon cake while I chose the breakfast burrito and the peanut butter and chocolate bar. We both found our choices to be uniquely delicious and filling. And it turned out my brother had purchased earlier in the week the specialty desserts as surprise treats for us to enjoy later. I came in and ordered a quiche, blueberry muffin, and matcha latte. I was given a cold packaged quiche from the fridge, a cranberry scone, and what tastes like just green tea from a bag. When I went back after leaving, they swapped the scone for the muffin but was surprised to watch them put the scone right back on display after I left and came back with it (seems like a questionable food hygiene choice). They did microwave the quiche for me... surprised they didn't have some for of oven. Honestly, none of it was good and after picking at it I threw most of the $22 order in the trash. An expensive waste of money. Additionally, they were calling someone a "puta" (a vulgar insult for a b*** or wh***) directly in front of me. Like just because I'm not Latino doesn't mean I can't speak Spanish. Very poor customer experience with immature / unprofessional staff. The ambience is similar to any other cafe. read more

I was going to have the prepared sandwich, then decided to have one made. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on sourdough bread. It arrived quickly, reasonably priced and nice staff. The sandwich itself was wonderful, but I would recommend spreading the chicken salad out over the entire bread. It was garnished with a little green and some pickles on the side. I have been buying their crackers for years and I was really interested to check this bakery out. They have a few locations selling food, drinks, bread, sweets and of course their crackers. This review is for the Rustic Bakery brownie! I LOVE Rustic Bakery boxed crackers and cookies, which I buy locally in Healdsburg at Shelton's and Big Johns (and wherever else I can find them...hot tip: look for the seasonal pumpkin cookies in/around October!). So I was pumped to discover Rustic Bakery in a small shopping center on a recent visit to Tiburon. It's a light and bright cafe with some indoor seating and some seating in their back patio/courtyard. I visited near the end of their day so didn't expect a full array of fresh items. I don't often have a sweet tooth, but when I do...I love me some chocolate. I was delighted to find a delicious-looking brownie. Let me tell you: it was awesome! Dense, moist, rich, chocolate chips for texture...delicious! And that's not always the case with brownies. I also enjoyed a classic black iced tea. Standard in flavor and refreshing on a hot day. I'll definitely seek out another brownie when I'm near Rustic Bakery again. They do offer a food menu and I hope to try that too. read more

Place is very cute and aesthetic but the coffee is lacking taste. Ordered a cold brew and added cream to my liking but it was overall bland. My partner order a mocha with whipped cream but when it was brought to us, they told us they were out of whipped cream. The lemon poppyseed cake flavor was great but the icing was hard and gritty. Paid NINE dollars for a 12oz quad shot cappuccino & received a cup of espresso with giant gaping brown bubbles on top. It appeared that the cappuccino was made with 2 parts espresso + 1 part milk (just because warm milk has bubbles in it does NOT mean the milk has been properly frothed, so it counts as milk). Anyway, I said "what happened to the foam? This was supposed to be a cappuccino" and proceeded to ask for sugar... I got the sugar, and as I finished pouring it, the barista swooped in unannounced and poured in an additional 6 oz of warm milk without proper cappuccino bubbles. Unfortunately, that move took the cappuccino from having too much espresso flavor to having way too much milk flavor (now it has 2 parts espresso + 3 parts milk -- not "wet" even, just undrinkable). I've been coming to thise Tiburon location for 20 years. The staff is superlative. The food and coffee are consistently excellent. The outstanding service attitude melts my heart and makes me a loyal customer. One of my foodie friends said, "Rustic Bakery can do no wrong" and I agree with her knowledgeable commentary. And--they have the best oatmeal made with Strauss cream, macerated cherries, and fresh berries. Who on earth raves over oatmeal...? I do, when it's this good!! Yummmm! I went to Rustic to pick up some soup as I've been going here since they opened started with the one in Kentfield probably 10 years now. I asked for a taste of the soup just now and they would not give me any!!?? WTF NOT??!! Favorite breakfast orders include pastries, strong coffee and steel cut oats, to which you can add fresh berries. (Their oatmeal is rich, so I wasn't completely surprised to learn it's made with cream.) Rustic Bakery shines at lunch, with their supersized salad options. Personal favorites include the quinoa & veggie salad with miso dressing or asian chicken salad with peanut dressing. Rustic is traditional in the sandwich department, with egg and tuna salad in the mix, elevated by their fresh baked bread. Their Marin Melt is a stand out. They also have daily soup options. I first read previous reviews and saw issues about the service. However, I did not experience any issues both mornings I stopped here. Counter help was very friendly and service was quick. FYI: I was there before they opened and as staff arrived they looked morning tired, however, I still received very pleasant service. Lattes were prepared as requested and tasted great. First day I had a Hawaiian scone which was very good. Second day: Meyer's Crust Croissant which were equally very good. There was a large selection. Note: on the second day, the customer before me purchased $160+ in pastries. That should say a lot. read more

The food and cafe are phenomenal. But the true pitfall is the incompetent staff. I frequently order salads here and probably every other order is messed up. The staff has a very hard time understanding orders and it makes for a very frustrating experience. If you are going to require a cc number for a pick up order (Blue Barn does not do this) at least have someone who can take the order. read more

Walked over to this bakery while waiting for an event to start nearby. Location is in a plaza with lots of parking, and they had a mercantile store across the hall. We ordered an oat latte and a chai latte, as well as a ginger scone to share. Coffee beans are from Equator! The latte was really delicious, but the chai latte was pretty underwhelming. It lacked the chai flavor and seemed like it was almost all milk. The scone was pretty good though! There were candied ginger bits throughout the scone to give it a nice flavor. Today was a perfect day in Marin County, CA. My friends and I took a leisurely 20 mile bike ride on the " Tib Loop" -- a road through Corta Madera and around a picturesque peninsula to Tiburon, CA. Our stop at Rustic Bakery is not uncommon, but today, my order for the Pumpkin Pear soup was uncommon for me. And I'm glad I broke tradition from my usual Asian chicken salad with the most delicious peanut dressing. (Which, by the way, both of my companions enjoyed!) the soup was thick, creamy, nutty and slightly sweet. If only it had a dollop of cream fresh--but let's not gild the lily! Of course it came with a side of Rustic's most delicious sour dough, which, as you could have seen had I not accidentally deleted my photo , I thoroughly enjoyed dipping it into the luscious soup! read more

I really like the Rustic Bakery in Larkspur. But this location always has problems. I was there at 9am on Thursday and tried to order a latte - their espresso machine was broken so they weren't serving coffee. Last time I was here they were out of oat milk. When I order baked goods it's usually stale or old. I just don't get why they can't figure it out! Better off going next door to woodlands and ordering a drip coffee. read more

Cute interior. Manager was friendly. Odd ogling from the staff and not friendly. The food was marginal and therefore didn't meet the price point. I got the below average $14 watery flavored Chicken Saigon Sandwich. The chicken itself and the bread were good. But the dressing was like watery vinegar which was unappealing. The carrots and cucumber did not properly contrast the 5-spice due to the lack of pickling expected from a Chinese sandwich such as this. We also picked up a $14 Rustic Chop Salad with Champagne Vinaigrette Dressing was good but definitely overpriced for the portion amount. The food will get you by, but we definitely were not satisfied by the overall experience. A 2 star review is all I can give them. Even if their competitor across the courtyard is no slouch at bad customer service, at least their food delivers! I will NOT be utilizing Rustic Bakery for any of my future needs. read more

Nice bakery with lots of options for sit down items and baked goods. The portions of the baked goods were quite large. We arrived around 9 am on a Saturday and easily found seating after ordering. We were driving through and decided to grab a coffee and small bite to share for breakfast. It was just about 9:30am on a Sunday (and the line was long). The staff was all smiles and the line went quickly, but gave you just enough time to look at all the amazing pastries in the cases. My mom and I ordered some coffees and sat down at a little table to wait for our order. They have a great outdoor space in what looked to be a common area in the center of all the buildings. We received our coffees and a breakfast panini. All were hot and a sight to be seen. The panini was crunchy and had a ton of filling in it. The coffees were delicious. It looked like they do a ton of Take-Out business as well. I did see they were out of a few items and once they are out they are gone for the day. So get there early! read more

Such a nice little cafe turned out to be such a big disappointment. Every restaurant is in a money-making business,sure but paying $20 for a tiny sandwich that's a size of a bagel, after changing sausage for lox was plain ridiculous. It's not even the price that I have a problem with but its the portion sizes. Really, why is everything so tiny? Even a cup of tea I ordered was super small. What's a big deal of serving a little pot of hot water on the side, like most cafes do? They have a nice backyard on the other side of the cafe but I really felt as if I was having breakfast at some girl's doll house. I ate a tiny sandwich. Drank a tiny cup of tea, while some employee on a break sat next to me while blasting stupid youtube videos on full volume on his phone, ruining the last bit of any posive experience left overs. We live in the neighborhood and go sometimes. But today when my kid was sad there was nothing they could eat there, my husband asked if they'd discuss having a gluten free item in their next internal meeting, they were rudely dismissive -- in front of my kid who has a GI disease.
