The smokiness from their wood oven and the sauce and ingredients are really superb. We have been coming to Rustic Fire for the last 3 years, and have loved our experience each time. It is our go-to stop when heading down to (or home from) Southern California, and it is a great place to stop and grab a bite while on Hwy 101. We will always support local businesses, instead of large chains, whenever we can. Rustic Fire is a great example of why - great food, excellent service, and a staff and ownership who actually CARE about their food, their customers, and the product they are putting out. Ok, enough waxing poetic. The food is delicious. Really good thin crust pizza, and the salads are fantastic. Wide selection of local beers and wines (and honestly, you're around the corner from Firestone Walker, what more do you need?) Oh did I mention the gelato? There's gelato. It's really good. Food is good! But 2 stars for their service! First of all it's so complicated to order on their website. As soon as your scrolling to look at their menu, it starts adding things you didn't want. You won't see it until you actually got charged. It has happened several times. Today I placed an order and got charged a side I didn't want. Told the person at the front, and he said we could change it for something else, and he wanted to charge us the extra cost. Other places they would of just gave you the items for the trouble. This place is fantastic. Crater Salad with chicken is money and the BBQ Chicken Pizza was a massive hit with my wife. Our son loved the thick crust pepperoni pizza. Also more than enough for there to be extra for lunch tomorrow. The service was amazing, even though we hit it at the peak of lunchtime. The pizza took about 1.5 hours to arrive, which I guess is to be expected during Covid times. I arrived and waited a few min in the order line. I was given a number and told it will be right out. However, I saw the guy in front of me order and shortly after, they brought his order out. I then waited another 5 minutes and saw several other dining customers receive their orders. I ask a couple of tables how long they had been waiting and both responded that it was about 20 to 25 minutes. Being now 7:15, I approached the owner and explained that it was now going on 50 minutes since I placed my order and others have only waited 25 minutes. The owner said that it was super busy and they were very backed up. He would not admit that they had forgotten to start my order at the 6:25PM online order and the $81.76 payment made. The receipt on the pizza box shows that at 7:00PM, my order was created. Basically, the owner lied and I also waited 25 minutes more for a total of 1 hour since my online order was created. Love the vibe here. Everyone was very friendly. We walked in and they waved and greeted us with a smile (or at least I think so they were wearing masks). Luckily we came later in the night and they were slower so they were able to do half and half on the crispy flat bread and both the basil pesto and spicy chipotle pesto were delicious. The pizza arrived and the crust was crispy and amazing! We were checked on multiple times... again so friendly. They had bar tables and booths (small Personal TVs at some) and just a very cool atmosphere. We ended with the gelato and is was yummy! We got the PB Oreo and Strawberry White Choc. Conveniently a short walk from Adelaida Inn & Best Western Plus Black Oak (highly recommend the King Suite + Hot Tub at this hotel for a romantic getaway). Ordered by phone and picked up 20 min later on a Fri night. We got a large thin crust, half the Works, half Neapolitan and cheese bread with a side of ranch & marinera (included). Perfect for 3 people or 1.5 meals for 2. We reheated the leftovers the following afternoon for a quick snack and it still tasted amazing. The olive oil baked into the bread was flavorful and fresh, likely sourced locally due to its delectable taste. They have a wide selection of beers but we didn't try any. It really refreshes the taste buds and olfactory senses. For starters, the place offers so many brands of well known and lesser known wine brands by the glass, half bottle, and full size bottle . . . and some wine even on tap assuring freshness. This aready tells me their food demands good wine. And it did. I ordered the Thai Chicken medium pizza. The pizza comes in 4 sizes. Personal, small , medium, and large. First off you can feel that crispy fluffy texture crust from dough made fresh that day. Secondly, the aromatic herbal sprinkled on top accentuates the peppery taste of my Daou Cabernet Sauvignon. And finally that hint of peanut sweetness sauce round out that gourmet level pizza I did not expect. The staff as busy as they were were awesomely friendly and helpful. The one at the front was patient enough to help explain their menu selection quirks and what wines it offers. To the end management floats around in between orders to make sure you are satisfied. I was passing through Paso Robles late at night and needed to find a place to get some food. Luckily Rustic Fire was open a little later, so I called in ahead of time. Got to the restaurant and they had a bunch of televisions playing sports and even the individual booths had some tv's to watch while eating. Went to the counter and paid for the pizza. After calling in and waiting, it took around 20 minutes to get my food. They offered extra plates, utensils, and peppers/cheese for my pizza which was nice. Now to get to the pizza, I went with the Rustic Bianca which has cheese, chicken, mushrooms, and pine nuts. We ordered a medium which was around $24 ($26 with tax) and its 11 inches. I was excited to try it as it smelled good, but as I opened it up, the thing was SMALL. Its the same size as a Blaze pizza or Pieology pizza and those are cheaper with way more toppings. Okay - maybe it tastes amazing and itll be worth it. I took a bite and it tasted like....nothing at all. There was zero flavor it in. If they had maybe put a few more mushrooms in it maybe it would have tasted like something. But it was just bread and flavorless cheese. I had to use the peppers and extra cheese because it just tasted so weak. That being said, the staff was friendly and the place looks like a cool area to hang out, but I would just never order pizza from here again. read more

Stopped here on our way from LA to San Jose. We got a family size garden salad and it came already tossed with just the right amount of ranch dressing and lots of fresh ingredients. This restaurant was close to the hotel we were staying at. We also chose this restaurant because there were TVs so we could watch game 5 of the NBA Finals (Warriors vs Raptors). The parking lot was shared with other restaurants so it was limited; however, we managed to find a spot right in front. Each booth at this place had its own TV on the wall. There were a lot of choices on the menu, but I decided to order pizza and a beer. I lined up to order a Rustic Fire Works ($11.95 for personal size) and a 805 beer which was one of their two popular ales. I sat at our table and waited for the food to come out. It took a while to come out because they were making the pizza and there were a few others that ordered in front of me. The Rustic Fire Works Pizza looked good and tasted good to me. The size was perfect for one person and would make some people full while others would still have room for more. This was pretty much a combination or supreme (whatever the name was) at other places. The 805 beer was good and I would recommend that if you want an ale. Rustic Fire was good and worth checking out if you're in the area looking for pizza. read more
