First let me say the food here is incredible, not a complaint in the house when it comes to this charming family owned cuisine. The prices are fair and they have all you can eat events scheduled weekly. THE WRONG SIDE- After having eaten here a half dozen times, because the food is that good!!!!, I do have a few complaints about the one bartender. I do not know how long or what his experience is but slow is not the word for it, maybe I just went there with my family when he was having multiple bad days but I am pretty sure he was intoxicated behind the bar. Trying to get drinks and having to wait because he had to run to restock a bottle? Smelling alcohol on his breath when he got back finally is no treat!!! There was a server who was pregnant working there for a bit and she needs to stay home with her mood swings, I could do without the snotty attitude from a young woman who is apparently unhappy in life, and it shows in her service. And the last complaint is the yelling from the kitchen, breaks up the good mood quite often when you hear yelling from the kitchen at the server's and bar staff. THE RIGHT SIDE- The selection of mixed drinks, and bottled beer is great. The choices of entrees is perfect. Personally I love the bacon wrapped scallops. Mondays with crab legs all you can eat. Tuesdays with clams, Wednesdays with BBQ Baby back ribs, all this place needs is specials for the rest of the week and you could almost eat there every night. From some of the best seafood I have had away from the shoreline, to their great steak selection and pasta dish's, this is most definitely a place to book mark and try at least once or twice depending on who is working that night, do not let the few bad staff members sway you from trying this place. On our way to New Jersey we stayed at Carlisle, and wondered where to dine. So thought of checking out Rustic Tavern. It is an interesting place, seems quite popular. Well it is Saturday evening. We did not make any reservation but did not have any trouble in getting seats even though it was almost 7 in the evening. They quickly took orders and promptly provided food - excellent service. We had onion rings as an appetizer which was excellent. We had grilled tilapia and prime rib steak. The portions were quite generous. The place was a bit noisy through, quite casual. The service was very good. Bland food that was priced too high. The salmon special sounded very good, but was refrigerator cold in spots and tasteless. Two orders of prime rib on the table and both not as ordered (medium rare) and somehow tough and dry. Should have just tried ny strip. Wings were good, while calamari was very, very greasy. This is by far the best restaurant I have eaten at in Carlisle. I have only lived here for about 6 months, but I have tried many of the restaurants. For American dishes such as Steaks, Seafood, and Burgers as well as pasta dishes - this is the place to go. They have a few beers on tap, usually 1 or 2 special beers and the regular American Lagers. When I do go to eat, most of the time I get their French Onion Soup and a Burger. I have tried their Wings and Mozzarella Sticks from their Appetizer Menu, which were pretty good as well. If you are in the area, I would recommend stopping here to grab a bite to eat and a beer. read more

Chose this restaurant primarily as a centrally located option for meeting people hours away for a meal. The food was fantastic (raviolli, steak, scallops, chicken parm, shrimp and haddock) and the service outstanding. I dont know the owners or staff, but was very pleased with the quality of food which was expertly prepared and plentiful. The last time we were here was mother's day weekend. It should be noted that it was afternoon, and not busy. The other guest in the party ordered the create your own combo. Everything was overcooked. Fish and steak. In fact the salmon looked suspiciously like a frozen filet that I can purchase at the grocery store. Big disappointment! The past two visits have been similar. Great food. Not fast food I have to agree with a lot of the other reviews that the food could be seasoned more. But I understand. They do not want to waste a ton of food by having to remake something because it is too spicy. We had reservations for a Friday evening. 4 of us. It was a pleasant enough evening as long as you are not on a schedule. If you do not have an hour and a half for a meal you may want to try McDonalds. Pasta dish with seafood was acceptable. Shrimp scampi was a bit short on garlic. Ribs. As others have said you need to bite them away from the bone but they had a decent flavor. Lots of smokiness. Over all a nice place. A little loud at times but it is a tavern. I think they are doing an above average job. read more

A great restaurant in Carlisle. Menu has a great selection and their seafood is always really good. My husband and I really enjoy sitting on the bar side because of the TVs but have sat in the dining room as well. Rustic Tavern is right down the street from where I live. We've been to the bar several times. Always a great time. Nice layout to allow people to talk to one another. Staff has been great. I challenged the bartender to make something fun when I went in for my birthday. She made and incredible minty drink and then followed it with a fruity drink. Not what I normally consume, but it was a real treat. We ate at the restaurant once. Meh. Not bad certainly, but didn't live up to the hype or prices to me. The crab cakes were OK. This close to Baltimore, you need a crab cake that's better than OK to impress me. Service in the restaurant was nowhere near as good as the bar. They did have a large group the one time we went, but seemed to still have plenty of staff standing around. There are a handful of decent restaurants in Carlisle. I wish, since it's so close, that Rustic Tavern was on the go list, but it's just not. We'll just be stopping in to hit the bar and watch NFL games we don't get at home. read more

We had our rehearsal dinner here in September. I can't recommend this place enough! They were very accommodating from the beginning to the night of. The prices were very reasonable and the food delicious. The service was great, half our party was very late and they kept checking on us before they got there and even accommodated the two young children that were there and got their food first. I went the first time a few weeks back and was shocked! Great food, fast service.. then we went for our anniversary recently. I was given cold food, a brown baked potato, and very tiny crab legs. Went with my wife for a special Christmas dinner. Started great with the Crab pretzel appetizer. We both loved it. But after the appetizer was finished, our server told us she had intentionally waited to put our entree order in because she didn't want the entree to come out at the same time as our appetizer. We thought okay. WRONG. Our order was put in after 2 large group orders (approximately 8 and 12 each). So 30 minutes later, our orders come to the table. My steak and onion rings were room temperature and my wife's meal was cold. The server came to check on us and we told her everything was cold. She offered to take the steak back, but after that long of a wait, we asked for boxes to take our food home to heat it up. She did bring me another order of onions rings which were hot. We may try this place again in the future, but most definitely not during busy hours. read more

The ribs are fall off the bone good as is the open face steak sandwich. The tables all have white tablecloths which is a nice touch. The inside is in need of updating as are the rest rooms. Heard this was a nice place, sat down to a table with dirty dishes, 15 minutes go by no waiter, so we go to the bar to order a drink 10 more minute go by we carry the dirty dishes to the bar. And ask for a towel to wipe the table 15 more minutes go by and we finished our drinks, go back to the bar and ask for a menu 5 more minutes still not a single waiter or waitress. we get up and leave. I don't care how good the food is, service is the worse I have ever seen. This might be a great place if you don't mind clearing your table, getting your own drinks and cooking your own meal, then again we can do that at home,,lol read more
