Went for the second time and thankfully, they had both brisket and ribs left! Everything we ate was utterly delicious, but there are issues. 1) every single meat is way way way too greasy. They need a smoked chicken or smoked turkey to tone that down. 2) this time the pulled pork was filled with fat slabs. Last time it was divine. But they brought us a replacement and it improved, but not enough. It is to be noted that they have the best coleslaw around. And the cornbread is delish as well. Can't eat here often... not until a less greasy option is offered. ---------------- I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. It was a 3 star experience, with the 4 star potential, so that's that. They were out of ribs and brisket when we got there (), so we ordered nachos with chili, a pulled pork sandwich and smoked wings. The sandwich was amazing. I wish it was more smokey, but still wonderful. The nachos were too, except the chili was gross. It was grayish brown, all beans and kind of sweet. We did not like the smoked wings at all. We LOVE good wings. These were greasy, salty and the flavor was off with buffalo. Maybe a different sauce would fix the problem? The ribs at the other table looked really good, so we will be back. Everything here was freaking fantastic! The drinks were great, the meat was delicious, and by my surprise the nachos were the best of all! (We added pulled pork) We had brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. Dry rub Cajun chicken wings were awesome. Extra side of corn bread cake with great honey butter. Before I jump to into the review, if you're wondering how just the ribs are: they get a 5/5. Now onto the review: We arrived at the Rusty Can amidst a big rush, but luckily snuck in some bar seats so we could skip the wait for a table. Right as we got the menu, the bartender told us it'd be about 20 minutes just to place an order on ribs because the kitchen was backed up. Definitely appreciated that, but was in no hurry, so we decided to wait. After about 15 minutes we got an update it'd be even longer, which is okay, these things happen, I just appreciated the constant communication, really showed they care about their customers. On to the food: The ribs were phenomenal, literally fall off the bone. I picked up the first rib and the meat actually fell off. The sauce offered on the side was all right, I would've liked to see a few more choices. Ordering the ribs, I'm a big guy, and was originally going to get a 5 bone order, but when the bartender told us a full rack is 16 bones, I thought I'd be able to take on the 10 bone... I was wrong. Seriously don't get any order above 5 bones unless you want a ton of leftovers. 5 is plenty. The sides are what brought this review down. The Mac and cheese was just bland and average. Same story with the French fries. Shoe string, just typical French fries. Wasn't impressed. Then, at the end of the meal, there were no wet naps, something a BBQ place needs to have. I went to the rest room instead, and that small, uncleaned room was also a reason this review got knocked down. One of my favorite restaurants and best BBQ in the area. I stick to the beef offerings and they've all been delicious and reasonably priced. I wish they'd make their own spicy BBQ sauce and service can be either phenomenal or abysmal but considering the type of restaurant it is, getting up to get my own plates, sauces, food items every once in a while is whatever. The pulled pork is phenomenal, the brisket (I recommend getting it sliced) is awesome and all of the tasty sides are filling and plentiful. Warning: the butter and cornbread are addictive - yes, that good! Expect to wait on average 15 minutes for a table on Friday or Saturday nights - it's worth the wait. No frills, off the beaten path hidden gem. Went for lunch and had the buffalo wings, and then ribs. Both delicious. Wings, although not a traditional buffalo sauce were unbelievably good and perfectly cooked (am from Buffalo, so not easily impressed when it comes to wings). The ribs were also excellent - smokey and meaty. Ribs came with cornbread/honey butter and choice of two sides. Service is good and atmosphere is typical casual, low key bbq joint.
