Chelsea at the bar was great. Food was tasty and worth the price. Cool little spot. Definitely would return.

$20 for burger and fries that definitely wasn't worth $20. Food was fine overall. Service was mid.

The staff are friendly and the servers knowledgeable and efficient. The hostess had trouble finding our reservation (my companion was already seated) but it seemed to be quite busy that Friday night. The restaurant consists of quite a few separate rooms and we were seated in one that was not too crowded. (I walked through the bar on my way in and that was hopping.) I had a glass of sauvignon blanc and after studying the menu and consulting our server my companion and I both went for a burger. There was no problem with my swapping out the french fries for onion rings (points there!). The burgers were done exactly to our liking (mine mediume rare, hers medium well). I should have turned down dessert, I was that full, but my companion was willing so we went for it. There was a good selection of typical New England desserts and we finally settled on a blueberry crisp topped with vanilla ice cream which was good but not great (not sure I can put my finger on why, so it may be that I was too full to enjoy it). There is a parking lot although it is not paved so was not fun walking through at the end of a day when it clearly had rained. It also could use some lighting. This is a wonderful restaurant suitable for a special occasion or an ordinary night out. I will definitely be back.

We stayed until closing and when we in the parking lot the staff made sure we were all right you don't see that too often. I've never had any of the problems I see people writing about here. NO roaches, don't even think I've ever seen a fly or ant. Regarding the cash only, they have an ATM. There are other restaurants in the area that are far more expensive that are cash only such as Choates and Farnhams, and last I knew, Agawam was also cash only. This isn't something that just the VPH does. I love the ambiance. This is a true colonial house built in 1660 and always feels homey. I usually get breakfast and am a fan of their scrambled eggs. TRUE scrambled eggs that are light and fluffy. Not fried and then cut up or folded over into a square like McD's. Huge omelets. They also have an early bird breakfast menu with good choices, good prices until 11:00. I've tried different options and haven't had anything I didn't like. Good coffee too! I usually have to have decaf and theirs is good, but one time I forgot to specify decaf. I tried the regular coffee and had no issues. It was very good! Most of all, the staff! The owner is always there. She is the lovely lady that greets and seats everyone. If you ever experience an issue or have a question, do not hesitate to talk to her. She is very approachable. Their servers are excellent and they always get a nice crop of summer student help. Plenty of parking, and in nice weather, you can eat outside on the porch. I highly recommend!

The quick start comes with two eggs, potatoes, choice of bacon or sausage, fruit or warm apples, and toast. It was very filling. I wasn't a big fan of the fruit, it had a weird aftertaste for me. Everything else was good. Tip: they are cash only, so remember to have cash on hand if you're planning to stop by.

Although it wasn't busy, we waited quite a while even for beverages. When the waitress eventually took our orders, I asked for a cheese burger club sandwich, medium rare, add onions. My husband got a chicken parm sub. When we finally got our lunches, she served mine with no French fries, which I eventually received a few moments later. The burger on my club sandwich was so overcooked it was like a piece of shoe leather. There were no onions, and the minuscule piece of cheese didn't look or taste like cheese, but reminded me of a piece of curled up parchment paper. My husband's sub was fair but she forgot to bring him the glass of water he'd asked for and he had to keep asking for refills of his iced tea. Overall a dreadful experience when we had been looking forward to a tasty, quick meal. The first time we've ever been there, and also our last.

I had the smash burger and added bacon jam on the flaxseed bun; strongly recommend that combination. The smash burger was perfect, the bacon jam was both bacony and jamy in a great way, with little chunks of bacon, and the bun complimented the burger well. I also had the waffle sweet potato fries, which were very good for sweet potato fries, not at all soggy like I sometimes experience. Also got their house sauce to dip the fries in and was so good did not touch the ketchup. Great place for a burger.
