I wanted to like this place, but overall it fell short. We came in for brunch and ordered the chicken and waffles and the breakfast quesadilla. Unfortunately, neither dish impressed. My spouse said the chicken tasted off and not fresh, which was really disappointing. My quesadilla was pretty bland on its own, and while it came with salsa, it mostly just tasted like lime with very little depth. The pico was just average and did not add much. The staff was friendly when we first arrived, which we appreciated, but our server checked on us constantly about every few minutes even while we were actively trying to eat. It felt a bit overwhelming and made it hard to enjoy the meal, even as mediocre as it was. The ambience was also underwhelming, especially since the lagoon on the back patio was empty, which took away from the overall experience. I wished I would've taken a picture of my loaded fries! Went in fit and appetizer to enjoy the patio with its lagoon view. Very family friendly. The kids enjoyed our regular go to chicken tenders and fries and their buttered noodles which we all enjoyed! Our server was welcoming and attentive to our needs. The place is gorgeous inside it has very nice blue couch seating and tables are set with glasses and table settings. The swing in the entrance is a great picture prop. We were in a small room overlooking the outdoor seating. It was the perfect size. I will say that you can tell that there was an event the night before because you can see some of the decor left over in the corner. They may wanna check the chairs in that room because one of the wheels popped off of my chair as I sat down. There was almost a pregnant lady on the floor. Glad it was only one wheel. My family came to the rescue and gave me one of the extra chairs and moved the broken one out of the way. The host was not in the room, so we took care of it. ***Service: The customer service was great. This place was inviting from the door hosts to the table host. ***Food: I ordered the below: --French Toast- Yummy French Toast with French Bread. It was so delicious. The food and service are ALWAYS good when we go. We love to try new things each time. My favorites are the hummus plate and birria tacos. The only negative is the atmosphere surrounding the lagoon pool. Upon entering the staff was friendly and I thought that would be the tone set throughout. There was a misunderstanding where the staff wasn't informed by another staff member with the size of party and I felt that was taken out on us guests. There was a tall guy that came over to ask my friend if she had a definite count and he was very friendly. I had a very disappointing experience on New Year's Eve. Before booking through OpenTable, I called the restaurant to clarify exactly what the reservation fee covered. While I regret not getting the name of the person I spoke with, I trusted that the staff would provide accurate information. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I specifically asked what the reservation fee was for and whether it was simply to hold the table. I was told that it covered the food, and that gratuity was included. Based on that information, I proceeded with the booking and payment, expecting that we would only need to pay separately for drinks. At the end of the meal, we were surprised to see an additional $103 charge on top of the $89 we had already paid. This was confusing and frustrating, as I had explicitly asked this question before booking to avoid this exact situation. When I spoke with the manager, Tristan, I was extremely disappointed by how the matter was handled. Despite calmly explaining the situation and showing proof of the phone call made prior to booking, I was told that I was lying and was then informed that I was no longer welcome at the establishment. My favorite was definitely the prime rib carving station and the ice cream station full of toppings for my kids. Stopped in for Happy Hour after seeing this place on several foodie shows... It did not disappoint and we will be back. The views are great and the staff is super attentive and friendly. The restaurant had beautiful decor and a nice ambiance. They had a good drink menu, I ordered the Empress 75 which was their take on a French 75. I really enjoyed my drink. Everyone ordered the same dish, which was the New Orleans Redfish. It comes with dirty rice and broccoli and you have the option to add lump crab meat. Since I don't eat dirty rice I was able to substitute it for garlic mashed potatoes. My food was perfect, the fish was well seasoned and the potatoes had a good flavor. My mom and I had left overs but my brother finished his completely. For dessert, we ordered the sopapilla cheesecake to share. I was skeptical because the first time I had sopapilla cheesecake, it wasn't all that great but this one was delicious. The berries on top gave it the perfect touch. I have no complaints about our experience here, great food and service from our waitress Nachaela. On this past Sunday, My cousin's husband gave his wife a 50th Bday surprise party at the restaurant's private dining room! And, she was definitely surprised. Seasoning was great and the cucumbers went great. Husband ordered New Orleans Redfish and I ate the New Orleans Po' Boy, both were great depending on your mood. Neither were spicy. We have never had an issue here but this time we did. Young female manager was on duty, along with 3 servers. one person was in the building. We were seated for over 15 minutes but no one came to take care of us. During this time a hispanic family came in and no one took care of them either. Eventually, server named Sam came over and another minority server took care of the Hispanic family. I later asked why we had to wait so long with no one in the building. Manager said that they were doing shift change with the same 3 servers. Reason this was concerning is because a white couple came in and the white server came over to their table before they could sit down. I think this is a management issue because she said to me, that she assigned the tables. I don't know people but this is not what I expected from this type of restaurant and after speaking with the female manager. She really didn't care about what my grievance was! The general manager usually has everyone working and treating the customers fine. So if you feel like you're being treated differently when the female manager is there...you probably are! read more

I wish I could give NO STARS. I have a large group of over 55 friends and we hit the happy hours and different restaurants. We went tonight to the comedy night at Blue Lagoon and before the show had dinner on the patio. The food was mediocre, but the service was terrible. Because the server was so slow bringing us the check we were the last in to the comedy show and sat at a table in the back. We couldn't hear or see anything, so left during the show to sit at the bar. The comedians were pretty amateurish, but the sound system was the worst and muffled the voices. We were there 45 minutes before one of the bartenders acknowledged us, saying how busy she was. Since she had waited on several people that sat down after us, I wasn't impressed with the apology. Apparently, if you are not a local (living in Lago Mar) you can't get service. The manager appeared to be around 20 so there's that.... When I finally ordered a dirty martini I asked for Absolute, which they didn't have so then Grey Goose. The glass was not chilled, they didn't have blue cheese olives or even Queen olives, just two mushy small Spanish olives without pimentos and one Castelvetrano olives. Savages!!! The cost was $19 with tax. Really...this place is too basic, like an overpriced snack bar! No happy hour, no specials, lots of cheap fried food. I am so happy that the Blue Lagoon is open!!! They have great food, great ambiance and a wonderful staff! We are sitting outside watching game 4 with the view of the lagoon as our backdrop. My husband had the Salmon and I had the redfish. Both were very good. But the best part is that they have the best Old Fashions!!! We were so excited this place opened up in our subdivision. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. Brunch choices are extremely limited and tasted like pre-made reheated plates (I've had the Chicken & Waffles, Monte Cristo). Went back for dinner and had the pizza that is supposedly made in a top of the line pizza oven - again not impressed at all (H.E.B. take home pizza beats the pants off the Lagoon entry). The 2 stars are for the drinks. They were decent (although the waitress had to come back and ask clarification on what a 7&7 was - we were told they were out of Seagrams but we didn't feel like arguing the fact there was a 3/4 full bottle on the shelf). ROBBERY! We had a small group of 7 last night who wanted to enjoy dinner at the restaurant after watching the band Rapture Houston at the Lagoon. It took over 20 minutes for us to get our drinks. Our server said it was because the bartender liked to talk and hadn't gotten to our order. It took almost an hour for us to receive our food. To add insult to injury, the server added an automatic 20% tip because we were a large group(there were 7 of us). All of this happened and the place was empty, so they can't blame it on being busy. It's hard enough to deal with the overpriced drinks and food, then to receive this type service is considered robbery! It's a little spice but tastes great. My son tried the lemon garlic chicken pasta and said it was really good but more lemony than he expected. Our waitress was great and helpful.
