    Guinness goes well with everything.

The Rusty Nail is probably best known as one of the places to go on your birthday to receive free chicken wings equaling your age on that birthday. This was the second occasion of my being invited by someone who was celebrating their birthday there. I'm not a big fan of chicken wings so I also don't consider myself a connoisseur. On this visit there were nine of us celebrating the birthday boy's 65th. I figured I was entitled to seven wings from the six different flavors that were ordered. I was satisfied after tasting just one from each flavor. All the wings were very crispy and the flats were a bit moister than the drums. In fact, my least favorite was a parmesan garlic drumstick. It came with no sauce, so it seemed extra dry. Treating the wings as my appetizer, I ordered The Heater from their Specialty Sandwiches and substituted sweet potato fries for regular fries. Served in a toasted hoagie were shaved Italian steak, sauteed peppers, onions, jalapeños, queso cheese, and melted pepper jack. My first thought was that the hoagie was going to be too massive and too much bread. But to my surprise, the bread was so fresh and soft that it easily compressed around the filling allowing the filling to be the star of each bite. The steak was tender and flavorful, there was not too much spiciness from the various peppers, and there was plenty of moisture. The sandwich was served while still very hot as were the sweet potato fries. Wings and sandwich, all went well with my pint of Guinness. They do not take reservations and will not seat your party until all members of your party are present. They will add you to the waiting list before all of your party is present. Once we were added to the waitlist it was thirty minutes before the rest of our party arrived due to traffic delays. It was then another thirty minutes before we were seated. This was a Tuesday starting about 5:30 p.m. I'd suggest aiming for a weekday after lunch if you have more than four people in a birthday celebration. Staff are well experienced with these situations and are friendly and helpful.

The wings here are still top notch. Full of flavor and perfect bite to them. Wing flavors are so great, they don't skimp on the sauce. The chili which is brainless isn't my favorite, not much flavor to it. Order a side of fries, so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Definitely a must have. They have many options for beers if thats your thing. My wife and I love the blue Hawaiian. A large party was coming so we were rushed somewhat to make room for them. It is what it is.

Had a great time at the Rusty Nail to celebrate a friend's birthday. They have the same owners as Bentleys and The Mill (if I'm not mistaken). Bentleys is known for this birthday wing thing...show up on your actual birthday (bring your ID!)...and you get your age- worth of wings for free. There are some rules...you can't take them home and there's a charge for any left over. Blue cheese or ranch are extra. Order incrementally. All quite fair, honestly. Well it's not just Bentley's that does this... Rusty Nail does this wing-thing too (I had no idea). I was with a group of 8 (they don't take reservations and only seat you when your party is all there). Besides wings, there were orders of fish and chips, burgers, nachos, hummus, mozzarella sticks and Bavarian pretzels. Everything was served piping hot and we were happy to have items delivered as they emerged from the kitchen. I had a few of the wings and thought the bbq was the best flavor of the 3 I tasted. Buffalo wings were mild-a but too mild for me -but the mango habanero had an excellent spice level (I just didn't taste mango....it was more like sweet and sour with a solid heat). Our server was top notch and everyone really enjoyed their food. It gets a bit loud in there, but it was busy and bustling. Bonus-I ran into other friends there which was cool.

So, I am at the Rusty Nail in Clifton Park, New York. Nice, clean, casual location. Love the layout. Open bar area and the dining is divided by a wall. The young lady taking my order is awesome. Always smiling and running around like a rabbit in a carrot field. Never missing a beat. I heard the wings are the best here and I have been hankering (is this really a word?) for wings. Oh the bourbon glaze is to die for. Extra crispy, blue cheese with the glaze. Can't ask for anything better. I will be back. Remember to support your local grubberies so we both don't starve

Awesome fries. Sorry photo is blurry.

Eat your age in "free" wings on your birthday at the Rusty Nail ?! It's apparently an idea that many people feel they need to experience at least once. In this case, a friend was celebrating a birthday and I kept company. I admit--it was both fun and delicious-- and I've come to the conclusion that most people can't eat nearly as many wings as they think. To make this promotion work you must be at least 21, show up on your actual birthday and bring a photo id. Since there were 2 of us, they started us off with 10 wings apiece, so we had 20 altogether and we only finished 17! Still, we had such a good time. The servers and bartenders were so nice and helpful. Even with plenty of seating the place was packed. It looked as though there were others also enjoying birthday wings. The Rusty Nail is an awesome sports bar. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching college football with our meal. We also ordered fries and a salad -- in an effort to be healthy-- and wound up taking half of the salad home. Please note, there is a built-in gratuity fee. If getting "birthday wings" are an idea that catches your imagination, I would say go for it at the Rusty Nail in Clifton Park. You'll probably leave very full and quite happy.

Hit or miss experience. I went for my 27th birthday and got our 27 chicken wings. Started with Blue Heat which is blue cheese & buffalo sauce as well as the honey bbq! The bbq were cooked odd or maybe the sauce?? They were really dry. Our first server also seemed to not like us...? She just seemed rude sadly but maybe it was due to shift change? Other than that, it was food and I'd go again but my birthday expedience everyone raved about wasn't worth it. Also, the prices are insane. $14 for 6 mozzarella sticks is wild!

Another friend, Pam, had highly recommended Emma Jayne's Restaurant which is only a couple of traffic lights from Trader Joe's - a perfect location for our trip. The restaurant sits just north of Fred the Butcher (next door, literally) for those who frequent that establishment, on Route 9. There is off-street parking. When we arrived at 12:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, the front parking spaces were full. (Note: there may be parking around back; I didn't check) We thought we might have to wait for a table. Wrong! The restaurant is surprisingly spacious with two large rooms furnished with tables that were thoughtful spaced apart. A photo of an adorable young girl, whom we assumed was the dining establishment's namesake, was on the wall. Let me be sure to mention that the ladies room, which smelled faintly of bleach, was spotless. I mean REALLY clean! About the food ... my friend and I shared an appetizer of Fried Calamari. It was an ample portion (took some home) accompanied by sweet chili sauce - a nice change from typical marinara served at other places. However, the calamari was small and overcooked. As a result, what was presented was a plate of small, overly crisp rings of 90% batter. No squid! For our entrees, Barb chose the Chicken Salad Sandwich. She requested that it be served on a pretzel bun (touted as homemade) for which we were hit with an up-charge of $3.50. The chicken salad had grapes and walnuts in it and Barb liked it very much. The up-charged pretzel roll did not appear to be homemade. Very disappointing. Had she known it would be uninspiring, she would have accepted the brioche roll. Macaroni salad - not very exciting - accompanied the sandwich along with a pickle. I love seafood and was torn between ordering the Fish and Chips (halibut) and Lobster Pot Pie (an appetizer). Our server, Drew, gets a gold star for suggesting the second one when I told him I wasn't a big eater. Apparently, the halibut, while highly recommended, is a sizable portion. The pot pie was superb! The rich, creamy sauce was divine. I couldn't eat it all and will enjoy the rest of it for lunch today. Emma Jayne's menu has something for everyone. Our server, Drew, was informative and attentive. While we may make other food choices (skip the calamari and pretzel bun but keep the pot pie), we will definitely return.

I was looking forward to the bread, but felt uncomfortable outright asking because the server was being so kind and trying their best. I really like The Flats in Clifton Park. I've been here several times for dinner and lunch, along with their Christmas breakfast and Mother's Day buffet brunches. Their buffets are excellent. They're around $50 per adult and about $20 for kids, and in my opinion they're worth it if you enjoy a good brunch buffet. Today they had carving stations with roast beef and turkey sliced fresh in front of you, build your own omelets, chocolate chip waffles, chicken nuggets, potato pancakes, sausage, bacon, mac and cheese, herb chicken and rice, seafood, and a huge dessert selection. There were so many desserts I couldn't possibly name them all, but some included chocolate chip cookies, Rice Krispie treats, lemon meringue pie, chocolate mousse pie, Oreo mousse pie, mini cheesecake cupcakes, and plenty of other goodies. I will say the chocolate mousse pie tasted good but was a little gritty in texture. I love me some chocolate mousse pie ordinarily but today I actually preferred the Oreo mousse pie. That being said everything is all you can eat, and it's all very good. It was extremely busy today, which was expected, but service was still excellent. That's been consistent every time I've visited here. The restaurant itself has a nice industrial-style feel and a covered patio area that I really like. It's a newer place that's only been open a few years, at least from what I'm aware of. Most places around here seem to do brunches but not true buffet brunches anymore, and I personally enjoy a good buffet brunch, so this place really stands out to me. If you get the chance to attend one of their buffets, I'd definitely recommend it. I know I will return in the future. 5 stars

I said on our next visit we wanted to try the burgers and tacos. Yes, we tried the burgers this time, so we were at least halfway successful. The meat was a perfect medium rare as each of us requested, the rolls were soft and fresh, the cabernet sauce had an exceptionally good flavor, and combined with the sautéed onions and melted cheese provided just the right amount of moisture and gooeyness. I chose to have my burger served with the standard French fries which they call Dipple Fries if ordered separately as a side. (Google "dipple fries cutter" to see how they are shaped.) My wife substituted a Caesar salad for the fries for an up charge of $5. The salad was quite good and large enough for her to share some of it with me. The carbs are so packed with garlicky soy flavor, unlike many other places I've tried (bold, umami, and addicting...no kidding). The meal is complete with a side salad topped with the creamiest ginger dressing and a clear soup loaded with the perfect amount of sliced mushrooms and an onion flavored broth. She was super friendly, knew the menu really well, offered us tons of options for our selections and was very attentive the entire time. There was live music, a one man keyboardist who played easy listening tunes. We really enjoyed it :) this is a "don't judge a book by its cover" kind of place- the food was absolutely fantastic. Glad to have found this diamond in the rough- go try it, good food for a great price! -The Belden Family
