Friday fish specials are good deal. Prices they posted on web site were the actual prices. This sounds simple but many restaurants charge you more than what they have listed online. Reasonable services & comfortable atmosphere. read more

The Rusty Nail Saloon is a great local option. The food has always been good but I really enjoy their pizzas. It's a local place and can get busy so get there early or watch out for what specials they may be having if you're not trying to wait around. They've got a lot of indoor seating and a back patio. Friday at 4pm, asked to sit on patio , told it was shift change so not possible. Led to a table in the back corner, weird smell in dining area - floor and tables sticky. Ordered drinks, server was friendly. Ordered fish fry came out within 5 minutes. Fish was dried out like it had been under heat lamps. Potato pancakes were good. Did not eat the fish, ordered the half baked/half fried. Very disappointed as I had heard excellent reviews. Would not go back. read more

We ordered a large 18" thin crust cheese and sausage. Crust was thin and crisp, sausage was Italian and there was a boatload of cheese. If you like cheese on your pizza, Rusty Nail is the place to go. Price is better than most other pizza places too. read more

Have eaten here a few times and always happy with service and food. Recently, stopped for Valentine's Day dinner with my wife and something special happened that we weren't expecting. As it was really busy, it was a while before we were seated. But, when our food came, we found out that they mistakenly swapped sausage for pepperoni on my wife's pizza. Rather than letting us know and having my wife sit and watch me eat my dinner while she waited for them to cook another pizza, they let her have the sausage pizza to eat while they were preparing another. Well, they didn't charge any extra for the extra pizza or make any excuses. The owners also both came out and went out of their way to explain what had happened so that really was outstanding! I'm glad they handled it this way as I really like eating here -happy wife, happy life and we'll definitely be back again! read more

Went there in Friday for the Fish fry. Which used to be the best in the County before Covid. The perch arrived at room temp, skimpy pieces. Just before we left, our server asked if she could bring a new batch. I agreed if nothing more as to see if they were having an off night. Although hot, still skimpy and tasteless and not quite up to the standards of Long John Silver's. A medium rare steak sandwich arrived well done, a wrap with barely any meat and 2 of our party also got the fish with the same lousy results. Pride of product definitely was not on display this night at the nail. We dropped over a $100 and I simply can't risk going back. Used to be my favorite place. Sad, really. read more

I needed to update my review as it has been less than during my last couple of visits. I ordered take out for the family last night. Kids mac n cheese was no more that the equivalent of a $.49 box of craft. Not the Kraft deluxe. Not a full box, maybe a half box. It was served in a container 4 times too big and had a price tab of $6. My 4 year old who loves mac n cheese was unimpressed. My wife had the boom boom shrimp. The size of the shrimp was proper but there was boom to it at all. It wasn't tossed in the"boom" sauce but had a light drizzle on the shrimp. I ordered the BBQ Wings. The were good size, properly cooked and well coated with BBQ sauce. Only complaint was the sauce really lacked any flavor. Ended up using something I had at home to save the meal. read more

I cannot count how many times I've been here over the years, but I've never been disappointed, and have always left "pleasantly stuffed". Went there with my wife for dinner on a Monday - 1/2 price pizza night. My wife ordered country fried steak. I was hungry for pizza so I ordered the 14" pizza. Waitress said we couldn't get the pizza for half price because my wife ordered a meal. What? You mean if we ordered ONLY the pizza it would be half price, but if we order more food it is not? So it seems. The waitress confirmed. Seems odd that they would only give you the deal if you order LESS. Strange. read more

Went here for the first time for the Friday Fish Fry. The fish they offer is Haddock, which is a nice white fish. They start you off with a generous portion of three filets with your choice of baked, fried, or a combo of both. I chose the combo for my first round. It came with two pieces of the fried fish and one piece of the baked fish. Both offerings were very good. The comb came with the typical tartar sauce, but it also came with some drawn butter. I was wondering what the butter was for, but then I realized it was for the baked fish. Dipping the baked fish in the butter gave it the taste of eating lobster. It's not lobster by any means, it just gave you the flavor of it. The fried fish was very light and tasty also. Both offerings were very good. The meal also came with coleslaw and choice of fries or potato pancakes. I had the potato pancakes. They were the best I have had at any fish fry. Very good. Rusty Nail gets very busy for the fish fry, so get there early. read more

My dad and I just recently moved in the area and were very excited to give it a try. Our first visit left us uninterested in returning anytime soon. First, when my father tried to order a 14" pizza he was told he could only do a 10" because it was 1/2 price pizza night and it would need to be my main meal as well to get the bigger size. In reality, my father can eat a 14" pizza by himself, so this was off putting and he ordered something else. I then ordered the quesadilla on the menu which was listed with garlic, pesto, mozzarella, Italian seasoning, and I added chicken. I received a quesadilla with just chicken and yellow cheese. When I said something, she took it back and then returned almost 10 minutes later with the original quesadilla stating "No one ever wants it that way, so the kitchen doesn't know how to make it. But do you want something else?" At that point my father was over halfway through his plate, and I was honestly just extremely baffled by that response so I said no. She said she'd take it off the bill, so I figured it is what it is - even though I was still extremely baffled that the cooks didn't know how to make something on the menu? I ate 1 of the 4 triangles, and there was so much cheese globbed on there (also not hot anymore by this point) that I felt like I was going to choke on it so I just put it aside and ate no more. Again, being told it was going to be removed from the bill I just said whatever, as long as it's free I'm not even worried about it. We got the bill, and the manager or owner or whoever had only removed 50% of the quesadilla price....I was completely mind blown after how obscene that experience already felt. My dad was so aggravated and felt so bad for the server knowing it wasn't her fault, that he just left cash to pay and tip and wanted to get out of there as quick as possible. He didn't feel like getting in an argument after so much frustration in such a short time. Very disappointing as we'd always prefer to support locally owned, but this experience left a terrible taste. read more

Food was mostly good. Our burgers were excellent, and cooked as we asked for, the onions, tomatoes, lettuce were generous portions. Onion rings were very greasy. The server was friendly. This should have been a 4-5 star review. Friends suggested we try this place out so we went in expecting a wonderful, tasty dinner. Unfortunately, we walked into a divisive experience. Fox was on the TV's and only the server had a mask on. In the short time there, I heard someone who appeared to be an employee loudly complaining with customers about how much Illinois sucks, how "black guys" are criminals, and needing to retreat into bunkers because of "all the libtards" in the area. The burgers were great, I'm glad I didn't just walk out after ordering and sitting there listening to bigots openly calling for some pretty terrible things. My family has been in the restaurant business most of my life, and I would never walk out after placing an order. However, thanks to what appears to be endorsement and promotion of this kind of atmosphere, my family, and I, will never return. read more

Stopped here today while riding our electric bikes on the prairie path. Food is delicious. We did not have the all you can eat fish fry since it was lunchtime but boy did it look great. I ordered the chicken Parmesan. I couldn't have been more pleased with my meal. It was something that I would have expected to find at a nice Italian restaurant. Absolutely delicious. The pasta and garlic toast were done to perfection. The menu offered several specials, and I had difficulty deciding which one to order. The waitress was attentive, and when she couldn't provide answers to our questions, she quickly found out and retuned to our table with the information we needed to place our order.
