Absolutely gorgeous restaurant - the name had us expecting some kind of divey boathouse, but couldn't be further from it! We read some reviews saying this place is a tourist trap, and I guess in a sense it is, but it is also beautiful and enjoyable in every way. This place is chic with stunning views and great music playlist. We were initially disappointed that happy hour is only offered inside the lounge but the views were insane and we couldn't have been happier. Unfortunately we didn't have any food but the happy hour oysters were delicious, they have a good selection to choose from and came out beautifully presented. My happy hour lychee cocktail was delicious. Will have to come back to try the rest of their menu next time - the portions we saw other tables getting were very generous! The highlight by far is the view. So wanted to like this place but honestly it was mediocre at best. Food was OK, not great. It was the service that was poor. Never re-filled our waters. I found a glass bottle nearby and poured our own. Food took too along to arrive based on how not busy they were. No salt or pepper is on the table. Food came then no one ever came back to check on how everything was. So I couldn't request salt. No one cleared dirty plates so talking over dirty plates with little room. This place is a bucket list item and definitely will not disappoint. I recommend outdoor seating but on the cooler days of the year. The bay view is amazing and goes along with drinks and brunch. The only thing missing is direct access to jump in the water. The cornbread was delicious and I wish I had the option to purchase one to take home. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and it was very savory with mangoes, onions and peppers. Will definitely come back for more options and more cornbread. We went to Rusty pelican for lunch on Sunday. We ve chosen an outside table and the view was amazing. We had oysters, grilled marinated octopus, lobster rolls and calamari. The Malpeque oysters were delicious, so was the octopus. Cocktails were excellent especially the passion fruit/coconut. Overall this restaurant was nice with no wait when you make a reservation. Rusty Pelican is a classic for me. The views are amazing, no matter what time of day you go to that restaurant you are guaranteed to have a gorgeous view. The food is pretty consistent which is always appreciated! They start you off with complimentary corn bread which comes with butter and honey- so delicious. I typically go for lunch and order my staple appetizer: calamari, and then move on to the burger but have also tried the short rib surf and turf for dinner which was very delicious. For brunch, I have had their chicken and waffles which are ginormous (I couldn't even finish half the plate) and savory. All in all I can say you can't go wrong with picking this restaurant it's got a pretty wide variety of dishes and a breath taking view, what's not to love? Also, if you save room for dessert my all time favorite here is the cafe con leche molten cake which is amazing! read more

The shrimp was served beautifully, however, it was not chilled. Although over ice, it was not cold at all. The cocktail sauce was watered down. I made reservations to come here for the special menu for New Year's Eve and I have to say the experience surpassed my expectations by far! Eqlys was my waitress and she was super attentive caring and professional. Service was phenomenal and food was on point delicious. Kudos to Eileen one of the front desk hostess. She accommodate me an earlier dinner reservation and I sat near the window right with the gorgeous view of the bay. Justin B. one of the servers was also fabulous. He's notoriously picky when it comes to restaurants but we both left here absolutely thrilled. The food was to die for but the service is what really made our night. We sat with Rachel. Her energy was radiating from the moment she came to the table and her professionalism and knowledge of the menu/ fantastic suggestions really helped us make the most of our experience. Some of my personal favorites were the watermelon margarita (my boyfriend had an old fashioned which he said was delightful. I'm a tequila gal so I'll take his word for it) we also really enjoyed the octopus seafood tower so I would definitely recommend that to my fellow seafood lovers! What a great experience! We visited at about 4:45pm on a Saturday - the bar was filled with people enjoying beautiful cocktails with a lovely view of the water and skyline. We put our name in for a bar table with views of the NFL game, and were seated within 20 minutes. We grabbed some drinks at the bar while we waited. The mojitos were great - a classic choice - and the Sugar Lips was a delightful vodka based drink with a sweet and sour balance. We appreciated that the bartenders gave their honest opinion about all of the cocktails and steered us away from sweeter drinks, which we don't gravitate to. We started off with a smoked tomato salad and Brussels sprouts - the salad dressing was delicious, and the Brussels were crispy and lightly coated in a sweet/sour glaze. They also serve a cornbread as their bread option, which is amazing! Our party embarked on the special, which was $250 - a 32oz Tomahawk steak done medium rare, 4 jumbo shrimp, 2 buttery lobster tails, mashed potatoes, salad, and French fries. Two men and one woman couldn't even finish everything (but we got close)! It was perfectly done. Other members of our party enjoyed the whole snapper, whose presentation was quite the show. They include the whole snapper for show, but there is no pulling fish off the bone! The sea bass came with a plantain mash, which was excellent, but on the sweeter side. We finished off the night with the white chocolate coffee lava cake paired with cookies and cream ice cream, as well as a surprisingly delightful date-based brownie with a salted caramel ice cream to go with it. Everything was delectable! Prices were actually rather reasonable for the Miami area - drinks $16-22, meals such as scallops or skirt steak $40-42, and surf and turf $84. We will be back! read more

The Rusty Pelican has been a staple in Miami for numerous years. Luckily, it's still around and the best part, it has one of the most breathtaking views in Miami as it's located right on the water in Key Biscayne. I recommend going to The Rusty Pelican for brunch, lunch or during the sunset, even for a date night. You cannot go wrong with the spectacular view. My suggestion is, if the weather is nice, be sure to request outside seating - you won't regret it. If not, request a table near the window close to the bay. One of my favorite starters at The Rusty Pelican is their complimentary jalapeño cornbread - you may order upon request - DO IT! I've been here numerous times ever since I was basically born; however, recently I came here for brunch. I ordered the short rib empanadas, they were decent but didn't love it. Stone crab - can't go wrong with that! The chicken & waffles and the breakfast sandwich. The food was pretty good but I've honestly had better in the past. However, the view and the atmosphere is what make its great! Oh, did I mention $25 unlimited mimosas?! I personally think there lunch/dinner is better but overall, it's a great experience. This place is a scam! How dare they say their serving a whole snapper but in actuality it's small fish filets that are precut and the snapper is for presentation. I'm was so disappointed in my experience here because I got sick the next morning after eating this fake meal. I've been to Rusty once before around 3 years ago. My first visit, I was served a whole fish that was deboned in front of me per my request and it was amazing. I brought my friends here a second time while visiting my family in Miami and this is where I discovered they changed the meal but it is still be advertised and charged as a the whole snapper when it's truly two small fillets. Also, after being served cold, stale filets (which were returned and replaced). They next day I got really sick from this place. Don't waste your money or time coming here because they are dishonest. Was honestly overall pretty disappointed. We had a reservation but there was still a wait. Valets were condescending, hostess staff was incredibly rude and careless, and the table service was slow, impersonal, and indifferent. Multiple times chairs were taken from our table, then returned, taken, etc. Clearly confused and poorly run. Sure the views are nice, but inside is very dark and VERY loud. We were just 2 people sitting next to each other and had to yell to have any conversation. My ears were ringing by the end of the night. I have never ever been so disappointed in a meal particularly because of the price. There was massive miscommunication upon booking the reservation. We called ahead when making our Thanksgiving Day reservation and were told we could order a la carte if we did not want the prefixed menu. However, upon arrival we were told that only applied to the dinner menu and not the lunch menu. I was annoyed because again we called ahead of time to ask. Who ever answered the phone clearly didn't know what they were talking about. We should have left then but we didn't...$89 for a 3 course meal which wasn't really a three course meal because the appetizer and dessert were tapas style and shared with the table. There were 5 of us at the table and they kept bringing us 4 of everything. 4 French Toast sticks, 4 mini corn breads, etc. so that was awkward and not enough for everyone at the table. Now, this is our own fault for not asking the price ahead (because I honestly didn't see it on the menu) but someone at the table decided to order a pitcher of Sangria. Y'all it was $65!!!! $65 for a pitcher of Sangria with no fruit inside of it! Not one piece of fruit was in this Sangria! What high end restaurant makes fresh Sangria with no freshly chopped fruit for $65?! So we most likely paid $65 for a pre-made Sangria and that is highly unacceptable. The bottomless mimosas were $25 but even those were inconsistent. One would come with a handful of mint leaves and the next one would come with 1 mint leaf or none. The waiter was annoyed when I asked for more mint leaves. Honestly, he was annoyed with us the entire time but trust the feeling was mutual. I had taken a picture of the first mimosa and showed him the clear difference in the presentation. Same with the jalapeño mimosa my boyfriend ordered one class had a jalapeño and the next didn't. Also, the lavender mimosas tasted like nothing. No hint of lavender. Lastly, my salmon was bland and had no taste to it. It needed salt and pepper. It clearly wasn't seasoned at all. It looked pretty though. The French Toast sticks were great and so was the salad also the restaurant's views are nice but that's really the only good things I can say. Overall, this restaurant needs to re-train their entire staff on the importance of consistency and paying attention to detail. I came with 4 friends who had never been here and everyone's meals were very good. The Amazing French Toast sticks, the Crab Huevos Rancheros and Salmon BLT were all great. Their cocktail and wine menu is comprehensive and they have excellent specialty cocktails. Of course, the outdoor seating area is among the best in Miami on a beautiful day.
