Good solid bone-in fried chicken at this local joint. As of March 2021, they've closed the dining room so I drove through. The menu had a good range of choices and combos. I ordered my standard order at a new place: chicken breast, fries, and a roll with a drink for $4.99. The chicken was quite good--hot and crispy with just the right amount of crust for my taste, and just the right level of seasoning. Not bland, but not over salted or complicated. The meat was a touch dry, but I was there midafternoon when chicken wasn't moving fast. I still found it very tasty. The fries were quite fresh, hot, and delicious. I'm a little suspicious of the seasoned salt they used, since MSG gives me a headache, but no headache so far and they tasted great. The roll was the standard boring white bread throwaway. I wish more places had biscuits! But all in all, a solid choice. I'd go back if I'm in the area. read more

we went to the Yoakum location. Don't know why the recipe is changed but the crust was very hard and chicken was like it had been thrown back in the fryer a couple of times. we had to wait on a couple of legs for our orders. those were perfect when we got them. So much better than the thighs we got. employees were very friendly and helpful. we drive from out of town but at the moment won't be going there for awhile. The last time the chicken was way over salted. Don't know if new management or not but it was different the last two times. read more

Definitely worth the 10 mile trek from I-10. The staff was very friendly and they serve the best fried chicken I've had in quite a long time. It was breaded and fried to order, and delivered to our table hot and juicy. Our bill was under $22 for three dark meat combos (2@2 piece and 1@3 piece) with one side and drink each. My wife hates chicken strips/fried chicken places, so, anytime I come through Gonzales, with work, I make it a priority to stop here. I have made the mistake of going here during lunch hours, without thinking about the High School next to it, and ended up eating in my truck. There is absolutely no seating during that time.
