I'm a Summerland resident and I always want to support local businesses. I tried to submit this review multiple times to Rusty's contact source but was always declined. I wanted to give them the opportunity to make good and give an explanation. Kind of like call your neighbor before you call the police on their noise level. But I'm frustrated by the declines and the quality. Over the last year I've noticed the quality of the pizza has declined. Last night I ordered wings and Rusty's sub. The sub was pathetic. I hope I can upload the photo of it. The meat and veggie section barely covered half of the roll. There was one slice of tomato that covered 1/4 of the role and a sliver for the rest. The wings were good but they only provided 2 oz of ranch at no charge. 55 cents for each additional 2 oz. What order of wings only gives 2 oz of dressing? Faster delivery in Summerland doesn't make up for poor quality of food. So disappointed! read more

A cute little pizza place and great service! The pizza was delicious and the salad was fresh and yummy. We also got a sandwich which was really good. Deducted one star because there is no indoor seating at all, which isn't a huge deal except when it's cold and there are no heat lamps outside. Very limited seating and the tables/chairs were pretty dirty too, BUT we really enjoyed the food after we wiped down the surfaces ourselves. We will probably stick to the other Rusty's locations that are much bigger, but this was a nice lunch and hopefully they can add some tables and heat lamps soon! Thanks, Rusty's! read more

Omg. You couldn't pay me to eat here again. I was hopeful for a cute little small town pizza place but was met with horrible customer service and attitude. As if we were putting them out by placing an order. And when we got our food undoubtedly worst than a fast food pizza place like dominos or Pizza Hut. Save your money and go across the street if you're in the area, supper disappointed that such a great spot is ran like this (so much potential). Stopped by for lunch for the first time while out enjoying the Summerland block party. Wonderful stop to get a quick, tasty lunch. Grabbed their Quick Lunch and were surprised by how good it was. You get an individual pizza, small salad, and a drink. I was surprised by how much food you actually get - generous portions for just $12. Got a thick crust pizza - sauce could've been a bit more flavorful but otherwise delicious. The thin crust looked great - definitely want to try that next time. Salad came with a good portion of veggies, too. There's decent outdoor seating options with shade for those hot days. Great location to enjoy the local shops as well. Good lunch stop. read more

Last time I visit. I'm 63 and have been coming here since I was a kid. Ordered two Rusty's lunch specials which include a personal pizza, salad and drink. Price is now $14.50 + tax. The pizza is cut into 4 TEENY slices. One horizontal cut and one vertical cut. You used to get 6 larger slices. The pizza size shrunk a lot. See my photo In comparison to my hand. For reference, I'm 5 ft tall and my hands are tiny but look large next to the pizza. So, they raised the cost AND cut way back on the portion. I'm not going to be made a fool of in terms of paying that much for a teeny size marginal tasting pizza. On another note, the girl that helped us couldn't speak English! While Rustys Pizza - still one of my favorite and I'll take an hour and a half drive just to get it. The Summerland location needs improving with the person in charge. (The so-called manager)has no customer service, none!, A bit abrasive when people have to come in and spend money, especially in these days at least be courteous, customer service goes a long way. the young woman that works there, which is not very clear. The service was rude and snapped at a few customers. Granted it was a busy day, but still no excuse to raise your voice at a customer. We had free certificates for pizza during the Summerland block party. I got a personal pizza with tomato and onion. I'm disappointed that they don't have more vegetable options even though they put broccoli in their salad! Offer it on the pizza, Rusty's!!! The crust was the worst part. It had no flavor and I was very disappointed. Not to mention it's dry too. Oh well. Just bland pizza. I make better ones at home. The salad was a classic gross pizza shop salad with the whole head of ice burg lettuce thrown in and their Italian dressing is underwhelming. Not to mention they provide packaged croutons from the grocery store on the side. Adds to the unappealing nature of the salad. I do appreciate that they load it with veggies, just not my taste of style of veggies for a salad. They have limited seating (especially in the shade) so you might want to plan to pick up and eat somewhere else in Summerland. Head to the beach! read more

Just like old times! Was at the sacred space today in Summerland and found Rusty's down the way, WOW so delicious! Small pizza place with outdoor seating. Service was great! The food was really really good. The buffalo wings were spicy and juicy. The pizza was crispy with a thin crust. When we were little we would frequent Rusty's a lot and it brought back sweet childhood memories. Highly recommend if you're in the area and craving a slice of pizza / wings. read more

Another disappointing lunch experience in Summerland MAJOR HEALTH CODE/DEPARTMENT VIOLATION Why does the counterperson put food service gloves on her mouth to blow air in them then put them on to handle food? She put her mouth on two gloves then put them on to prepare food. A second counter person sneezed, wiped her nose and mouth with her hand, then continued to work. The pizza gave me a terrible allergic reaction. I cannot breathe. The place is gross. And their workers obviously cheated on the food safety/handling class or don't understand hygiene. I love this smaller Rusty's pizza location right in the middle of adorable little Summerland. It's got great outdoor patio seating. The food was delicious and just as tasty as I know Rusty's pizza to be. A classic slice of pepperoni was amazing! I visited this Rusty's during the Summerland Block Party, so there were lots of vendors there selling their handmade goods. Lots of great items and a very fun atmosphere with live guitar music as well. It was a very fun day at Rusty's! read more

We ordered pizzas for a party my in-laws were hosting and came to pick up. Despite the fact that we've walked by this place many times during our visits to Summerland, this was the first time we ever tried Rusty's food... and it delivered! We used to visit this place back in the day when it was Stacky's Seaside and the transformation from that to Rusty's is night and day. The patio is nice and updated, the inside is roomy and clean as well. The people were nice. The pizza was delicious. No complaints! Made a day trip to visit SB and eat at Rustys. Hyped Rustys up to my wife and sister in law telling them how good it is. Ordered garlic breadsticks with our pizza. They served us ice cold marinara sauce for dipping. Sauce was so cold and hard that you could not actually dip the bread in it without practically smashing the stick in it. I went in to ask if the sauce is supposed to be ice cold and they if they can warm it up for me. Guy told me its supposed to be ice cold and that he wont warm it up for me since it will melt the plastic container. I dont know if ice cold marinara is a Rustys thing or a Santa Barbara thing but I consider that heresy and Rustys is no longer my #1 pizza place. read more

I love Rusty's. Maybe it's because I grew up as a teen eating their thin crust pizza but it's always a go to spot when coming back to SB. Compared to national chains their pizza is overpriced, but the quality is there and their thin crust pizza is uniquely delicious. I would avoid their overpriced to go salads though. A pure and friendly environment. The location I went to in Summerland was very small but was perfect for takeout pickup. Service was great, and food was always hot and delicious. 1/6/2023.. It is always sad to report on businesses that traditionally are pretty good and consistent. Tonight was not one of those nights at Rusty's in Summerland. We placed an order to pick up of a pizza and two sandwiches. As we waited for our order at the store, after a 20 minute drive, we were handed an order and departed. When we got home, we discovered the order was not ours. We called the main order line for Rusty's and the "supervisor" handled the concern with care and regard. The order would be remade and we could have it delivered or pick it up again, with her apologies. When we returned to the Summerland Rusty's, they tried to hand us the old order, which was over 60 minutes cold. When I requested a fresh bake, the supervisor was rude and took an intolerant attitude. She did make the pizza again but tried to hand me the cold hot sandwiches we ordered from the original order. So again, I waited for the sandwiches to be remade and finally departed. Errors will be made..that is not my concern here. It is the extremely poor customer concern about an error resolution and the supervisors attitude and arrogance that will cost Rusty's my business. There is no excuse for this type of management and lack of basic customer regard. If there was a " no star" option, I would use it! read more

Maybe accepting pizza this mediocre is a West Coast thing, but no one should be forced to pay this much for pizza, that is about as good as the frozen national brands from the grocery store. Salads are pricey, and of marginal quality. This ain't it. There are some good pizza places in town. Support them instead. read more

We were at lookout park in Summerland which has become a favorite beach of ours. Tinker's closes at 5 and the Nugget is kind of expensive in my opinion. After all, we are a family of 8. Rusty's was a great option and we ordered 3 subs, a cheese pizza, and 20 wings all for $47! I just walked up from the beach and back down so we could eat and watch the sun set behind the cliff. It was the perfect solution to our hunger problem! Great food, great service, great price! read more

So Rusty's took over the old Stacky's Fish place in Summerland. Took me by surprise as we were looking for a place to have lunch. My buddy got a personal thin crust pizza and a salad and I got a Medium Thin Crust Pepperoni Pizza. The salad was fresh and perfect. The personal pizza was also perfect. My Pizza was better than I have had from any of the other pizza places around Santa Barbara and I have tried them all. Trust me, I am a Pizza aficionado. This new place has an all new interior and all new equipment. They totally remodeled the place and it shows in the product. I think I would go out of my way to get Pizza from this place. read more

What a joke! Just tried calling to place an order in Summerland and I was informed by some disrespectful representative at the call center with this.... Note : This is after I specifically asked him for take out in Summerland Him : Is this for take out or delivery? Me : Ummm...hello I just said that? Him : What location? Me : Umm...are you hearing me? After getting a little irritated with his tone, I tried to just complete my order and get on with my evening. When I asked to have a side of mozzarella for the salad ( typically there is a salad bar ) I was then told "they can't do that due to Covid-19"? I completely understand wearing a mask, sitting outdoors, and all the other needs for Covid-19 not to spread but a side mozzarella? Come on?? So...your saying you can have someone in the back put all the ingredients on my pizza with bare hands or hands with gloves on, but no one can throw some mozzarella in a container to go? How does that make any sense? I was more then willing to pay for it? Soooo....I asked to speak with a manager and some kid got on the phone shortly after and asked what he could do for me nicely....well I nicely asked back for his name and he refused to tell me but supplied his 1085 manager code? Is that even a thing? How am I supposed to talk with a "manager" about my issue when he won't even supply me with his first name? After arguing with him for a short amount of time about adding on an item that I know should not be an issue supplying a paying customer, I decided to give up on my order and take my business elsewhere. I really would of liked to have another great experience with you guys but this was RIDICULOUS!
