Normally we love this location...but today was not their day (11am so not after a huge rush)....longest wait for lunch in a very empty restaurant. So many issues...1.sweet and unsweet tea urns were labeled the opposite of the tea, 2. lemon container empty, no lids for cups, asked and cashier put her stock of lids up on customer side of counter...over full lunch hour, never stocked 3. one person's food was too hot, the other food was barely warm, 4. fajita seasoning was just a TON of black pepper, almost inedible, 5. loaded tots-tots not fully cooked, cold inside. 6. told the cashier about the tea issue, she turned around and told the other 3 guys in Spanish and they just shrugged it off... You get one more chance then we stop our weekly visits... Sorry no pics today...too irritated! read more

I was dropping off the dog for a grooming nearby and thought I stop by for lunch at R tacos. Since I try not to eat so much meat, I got a fish taco and a Baja shrimp taco instead. Order at the front and they call your name when order is ready for pick up. My tacos were pretty good, I ate them with hot sauce available by the counter. It was pure habanero, super spicy just the way I like it. They have mild and less spicy sauce for those who can't take the heat. I would definitely come back and glad R tacos is around. This area is very heavily American food chains. I'd welcome a tex- mex eateries any day! read more

R taco is on 26 near precinct line, it's very easy to get to,parking is very close and just an easy to understand concept. R taco has a lot of breakfast taco options as well as regard taco options. Tacos are served street taco style and I recommend getting 2-3 tacos for a meal or you will still be hungry. I ordered the Chicken Fajita taco, the steak fajita taco, and the Baja shrimp taco for myself. For my son I ordered him a side if black beans for my son (his favorite food). The staff was very helpful with everything and even changed out the cheese on the black beans to cheddar so it wasn't too hot for my son, I really appreciate her going above and beyond to make sure he could eat it. My husband ordered the chick fajita, a pork one that had pineapple on it (can't recall the name), and the Baja shrimp. All of us were happy with our choices, the food was good but if your really hungry you may need to order chips or extra sides to go along with your taco. read more

This was my first visit to R Taco, which provides a menu similar to Torchy's or Fuzzy's, with more of a fast-food feeling to the service and dining experience. We moved through the line very quickly. The check out guy was helpful in making my taco decision by offering suggestions. We didn't wait long before they called our names. We also ordered queso which was given to us first. The food was good, but not quite like the $4 taco counter service places. But, still good. I ordered three tacos and water and came out under $8. The grilled Fish Taco was flavorful and creamy, the way I like it. The chicken in the chicken taco was fried, and I would have preferred grilled. But, I ordered fried. The ingredients didn't come together as well for me with the flavor of the batter in the mix. I also tried a barbecue brisket taco, and found the sauce too sweet. I'll go spicy brisket next time. Onions, lettuce, and tomatoes were all fresh and cool. Sauces are provided in small, self-serve containers and were passable. I tried the mild red and tomatillo sauces. The Queso was basic, but tasty. The chips were salted with large granules of sea salt, offering a nice, savory bite. So, overall a good experience, expectations of fast food being what they are, I felt that R Taco provided value and quality. Will repeat! read more

I have been here twice always trying different foods. First time service was super slow but my reason for a 3 is because nothing stands out here. Tacos rate from ok to bland. When I think of other tacos places like Torchys there is nothing here that is better. Queso good but not better. Salsa ok but not better. All of their tacos needed something more to make them better. They do have more draft beer selections but that will not bring me back. read more

I have to say, having been to most of the Rusty Taco locations, this was one of the worst. The location is large and had a cute outdoor area. But it was NOT clean. Trash sat on the floor in the preparation area near the drain on the floor. And the food itself was just terrible. Not cooked right, and they were very slow- it was a Friday night and not too busy. Tacos! We stopped by at "loco hour" - 5-7 pm M-F. Drinks are 1/2 price. I ordered the "good stuff" margarita. And my hubby got a great Texas craft beer. I gotta say, it's a great price - $2.50 for a craft beer and $4 for a margarita. Tacos are Street tacos and come on corn tortillas but you can specify flour if you want. I ordered a brisket taco and grilled fish taco. My hubby got a picadillo and the Rusty. We thought they were fantastic. We also ordered chips and salsa. Our total bill was $18. Not bad at all. There is a nice patio. I think R taco is going to do great! It was already attracting a good crowd only being open a few days! read more

Hey, Rusty taco made it over to the midcities! There's a location right across from Parkland and I used to have Rusty's 2-3x/week. Glad to see them over here! Because I'm writing based on my previous experiences, there will be some Dallas v. Hurst comparisons to follow. Stay tuned. Unlike the Dallas location, this one doesn't have a drive-thru. They're super busy; everyone is curious and coming by. Yes, people are complaining about the $2-$2.50 average taco price, but I think it's fair given the quality of ingredients inside and the amount of protein. Because I'm an al pastor kind of girl, I usually get the #9: The Rusty Taco (pork with mango, onions, cilantro). They also have their hot sauce prepackaged, which I like better than having a bunch of squeeze containers filled (a la the Dallas location). Much more hygienic. I like a combination verde sauce (mild) with the habenero (hot). The red (medium) is exceptional if you mix it with their queso (it will coagulate pretty fast because they keep the salsa chilled). Bottomless chips. They have more desert choices than Dallas (either that, or R's added fruit tacos to the menu in the last year) and has less seating. There's lots of patio seating which people seem to prefer. The tacos also keep really well in the fridge for the next day! I'm a fan of Rusty's. There's not a lot of awesome taco choices in this city (great burritos and nachos, but really, not tacos) so thank you for coming to us! read more

This was good. Not fabulous but good. The queso was yummy... salsa meh. The chips were great! Now the tacos. They were ok. Our tacos weren't hot. I got brisket tacos. The meat was room temp? I also bought shrimp tacos. They really can't mess them up. They were good. Tortillas are warmed no oil. I actually don't mind it much. If you're in the area and hungry. It's good. First off, we'll be back. Read about Rusty Taco and thought the family would give it a try. Restaurant - VERY clean. Menu items easily laid out. Although they offer different margaritas, we did not have any...but they looked good. Staff - Honestly, I have never experienced a more friendly, helpful, COHESIVE, service oriented restaurant staff in my life. There were about a dozen people working, from register, cooking, prepping, etc. it was really great to see how everyone worked together like a well oiled machine... and again, whenever our chips seemed to be low, someone would come by and asked us we would like some more chips. Just very impressive. Food - I love tacos, like there's no tomorrow. My very favorite taco place to go is Velvet Taco in Fort Worth or in Dallas. Honestly, it's just the bomb...But it $5 to $6 dollars a taco, it's not a place that the whole family goes every day. Rusty's, it's more along the lines of your street tacos. The meat Was very good, their fish taco was very good, and the grilled onions with it as well. My only suggestion that would really bump up everything a few notches would be the following... which street tacos, I'd like to be able to add some more cilantro, or diced up onions, or diced up radishes, or extra sauces, etc. Although the staff was very accommodating when we ordered more tacos (after initial six) and asked for extra cilantro, I really wish they had a condiments bar. Will you have different accoutrements to add to it whether it is diced up jalapeños, diced up cilantro, Pico de gallo, maybe a smoky hot salsa, a mild salsa, etc. You see this at other places (Taco H, Rosas, Taco Cabana), and I think Rusty should have it in their restaurant. If they would do that, literally this would be the bomb of places when it comes to street tacos. Again, very tasty food, very fresh, very clean restaurant, extremely helpful/happy/pleasant employees, place to eat. I just hope they add a condiment bar. read more

Why do I have to go to the counter twice? Once for the nachos, then again for the tacos. Poor customer experience. The chips were thick and stale, bulk purchase on their part. Queso was good. Omg HORRIBLE. Do not come here! I just picked up tacos tonight at around 8:30 and everything was off. 1. I was the only one in the restaurant with several ppl working and every single taco was cold. The tortillas, the meat; etc ---all cold . It took way too long to receive my order for it all to be executed so poorly and haphazardly. 2. The chips were inedible. All were dripping in super old grease that made them taste like burnt plastic. This is due to laziness when places don't clean out their grease and allow it to go rancid which they did and it was disgusting so I threw them away. Now I have a cup of queso with nothing to eat it with because the chips were bad; but that brings me to ... 3. The queso is also terrible. And the guy who took my order claimed it was one of the most popular things on the menu. It was exactly like school cafeteria nacho cheese which; not sure what they serve now but when I was in school it came from a huge can and I didn't eat it then and I couldn't eat this now. 4. Brisket taco; another thing the guy claimed was a top seller on the menu --awful awful. Brisket is very dry it's like shredded beef jerky with no flavor. R taco in dallas was good; but the one here on hwy 26 SUCKS. It's ran by teenagers who clearly don't give a f***. Like every other restaurant on this street it seems. Vegetarian Review: I'm from So-Cal and very big on street tacos. I've been trying to find some really good taco places here in Texas, which is pretty hard considering everything is "Tex-Mex". I came across R Taco a while ago, & thought it looked like a pretty cool spot. The design of the place is nice and updated. I never had the time to stop by and didn't know if they even had a vegetarian option. A while later, a friend of mine had told me about them and said they were pretty good, so I came in to see for myself. I didn't have much time, so I ordered 2 tacos to go, The Rajas, & Black Bean, (both vegetarian). Thinking that most taco shops are pretty quick, I didn't think it would take to long to slap the stuff on a tortilla, but it took a good 15 minute wait. It wasn't too busy, but I saw they are pretty popular for To Go orders, so I just accepted that I'll probably just be late to where I was going. Plus if it takes a while to make it, maybe it's gonna be pretty awesome. I finally received the tacos and.. well, they are pretty tiny. I was expecting a bit bigger for normal size street tacos. They also didn't have much in it, and the tortilla wasn't heated. I guess it is pretty cheap for a taco, considering at most places it's about a dollar more and is way bigger. I was hungry and in a hurry so I ate it real quick before driving off. Now I wasn't expecting it to taste pretty good, my expectations kept getting lower, but the taste was great! Everything was seasoned nicely & cooked well. I couldn't complain about that. It made it well worth it for the flavor, I was just still hungry after finishing them. I really loved the Rajas Taco, I just wish they added maybe an avocado slice or a little extra filling to it, other than that it tasted great. I have mixed feelings about this place, but overall I feel it's a pretty good taco shop for the price. I suggest getting a couple of them, and maybe asking for an additive. Came here after getting a haircut and noticed it was Happy hour with half off drinks, I think I had a few. Make sure you ask for the good stuff! We got the Tres Grande which has salsa, queso and guacamole with chips, ask for refills on the chips. They sucked me in to get the special (not really) which was the fried chicken taco and a grilled taco. I got a third taco called the picadillo which was taco meat and potatoes. All tasted great and if you know me I asked for a side of fresh jalapeños. Great atmosphere and tacos are made to order, so come check them out. read more

This place is made for simple minded fools who don't know what good quality real Mexican food tastes like. The food looks good but as you eat it you realize you've been scammed! The egg in the breakfast tacos tastes like cheap egg you get in a burrito at whataburger and the veggie taco was bland. The place looks ok except there's only one roll of paper towels for the whole restaurant like a restaurant in a third world country. That was the only authentic part of this Mexican restaurant! The Good: Great customer service The Rest: I've been trying to put my finger on what it is about R Taco that just doesn't work. I've only been once before, and I remember not liking the tacos but thinking that the chips and queso/guac were decent (I mean how can you mess up chips and queso)? So, I went for a second time because I wanted chips and guac, and R Taco was en route to my final destination. I decided to try out a taco again just "to see." (loud dramatic sigh) So here's the thing: the tacos here have absolutely no flavor - no seasoning, or so it seems, and to add to that the corn tortillas are bone dry. If they slapped the tortillas on the grill/skillet for a few seconds in a dab of oil or something that would be a significant improvement. This is Texas -there are WAY too many places that make tacos for R Taco to be this bland and expect to be successful. read more

We ordered a kids meal to go and got someone else's order. Upon opening the order, we found a quesadilla that was limp and dripping with grease. The foil packet with taco was also drenched in grease and liquid. Yuck! R-Taco kindly replaced this with our correct order. But our kids meal was also disgusting. The taco was heavily laden with an oily cheese and the tortilla was limp and soggy. Either this was a bad day or this location has dropped to a new LOW in QUALITY! read more
