Just know they close at 9, so if you come after 8 you will get the leftovers or bottom of the barrel. We have come to this location several times and it was always fantastic. This time, it was closing time, though we showed up at 8. My tacos tasted like the meat had been cooked all day under a heat lamp and was actually cold and rubbery. One of my husband's was so bad we sent it back to get another. The replacement, while good, looked nothing like it's predecessor. It was like a completely different order, probably because it was fresher than before. We sent the queso back because it was lukewarm, only to get another lukewarm bowl of queso. The chips were extra greasy. My kids got breakast tacos and the eggs looked old and were cold. Seriously, I felt like I was in the twilight zone. This place has always been great, but this was down right disgusting. Did this place change management because this was so different than our other visits? I don't know. We also go to another location in Dallas frequently but this left an awful taste in my mouth, so I don't think we will go back for a while. We will probably skip this location altogether though. I am a fan of tacos in general, they are my favorite food group, and R Taco makes a pretty decent street taco! Each taco is between $2.25 and $3.00, so have yourself a few. There are also 3 kinds of salsa, going from warm to HOT, which is always nice for a girl who likes choices! The best thing about R Taco, quite frankly, is happy hour!!! Happy hour is Monday through Friday 3pm to 7pm, and you get half-priced sides and drinks! (I recommend getting an elote for yourself and sharing chips and queso with a friend. Here is why: Food - Not that good. Some tacos are fine, some are plain. We have never left feeling "wow" about the food. Service - Slow, apathetic service with no sense of urgency. I'm sad to give this rating because it was our first time coming here and we were really looking forward to trying it. We ordered ours to-go...such a mistake. I ordered the Baja Shrimp, the fried chicken, and the texican tacos; my husband ordered 3 grilled fish tacos. Checked the bag, everything was labeled and we had 6 tacos so we thought all was well. After getting home, we realized two of the tacos labeled "grilled fish" were in fact a shrimp taco and a "chicken" taco so spicy, it couldn't be eaten with my husband's GI health issues. One bite, and he was engulfed in GI pain so bad, we worried what was actually in it. The best ones we got were the fried Baja shrimp tacos by far. The texican is nothing more than you'd get at taco bueno, the fish was extremely fishy, the "fried chicken" is a few pieces of a cut up chicken tender and using so much spice the taco can't be eaten, well who truly knows what was in that one. We throughly checked to menu to cater to his dietary needs as well prior to ordering. Maybe it's better to eat in so you can promptly get new tacos if they're wrong, but if you're going to offer take-out, and even go as far as labeling each item, might want to check that they are actually correct before putting on the label and calling it a day. R Taco is a quick and easy spot to grab some street tacos. The tacos are pretty small, I think a little smaller than Fuzzy's. The chips and queso was very good, they are my favorite thing on the menu. I've had their fried fish, fried shrimp, and chorizo/egg/cheese tacos. They are good tacos but no where near amazing. I feel like Fuzzy's is a bit better and has more choices. I ordered sopapillas for dessert. They were mini size and pretty good dipped in honey! Also, had a cheap margaritas which was good as well. The employees were very nice and the restaurant was clean. Overall, I would come here for a quick bite to eat but this is not my top choice for tacos. read more

COVID guidelines are not followed here. A customer came in without a mask and was never asked to put one on and even when we brought it to the managers attention (Breanna). She did nothing. They allowed the customer stand by the food and another couple came in without masks, nothing was said. Yes, they have a sign posted but the worst part is when an employee had his mask down cooking food. They food did taste good and we love Rustys but we will not be back. Chips and queso came out quick and honestly was my favorite thing of the meal ... not the best I've ever had but knocks a couple nearby locations socks off. My husband liked his 2 beef fajita tacos and BBQ brisket but his tortillas fell apart and thus not actually got to eat them as tacos. My Tex-mex taco was good but very iceberg lettuce heavy chicken fajita tacos spice factor caught me off guard. I ended up having my husband finish mine because while I'm good with spice with the amount of Thai and street tacos I've eaten in my life whatever they do to this just didn't sit well with my stomach. (My guess is its their pico mix.) I like the variety; better than fast food but I've had better way better for cheaper in the surrounding area; heck just down the street even at another smaller known joint. Will we be back ... Yummy tacos. We've gotten take-out tacos several times for the family. Always enjoyed it. For us, that flavor profile is spot on. Flavor is good and isn't over-complicated (if your a Torchy's fan, you might find these blander, but definitely more flavor than authentic Mexican tacos which are generally to plain to my taste). And the best ones, that are street taco size, like yours, aren't $2.50 each. They're $1.50 each. For that price, they should be bigger. At least. The service wasn't bad, they're just very green. Slow to take order, slow to get chips and dips out. Slow to get food. Everything was clean and everyone was kind, though. The tacos: grilled fish was nothing to write home about. The "slaw" that was on it was simply raw purple cabbage. Hardly slaw. Blackened grilled fish was done well. Just not incredible. The brisket taco was good, but I've had lots of brisket tacos that were better or at least better value. The fried fish taco was the best. Crispy and cooked just right. Great breakfast tacos! You have to know what to get, not all selections are equal. Definitely go with the chorizo, and fajita tacos. I have yet to try anything else on the menu but will be sure to update here after doing so. I will agree with those on here who believe the tacos should be priced lower. $2.50 is pricey for the size. At max you should charge maybe $1.25-$1.75. The local taco shack down precinct at pipeline is a bit tastier for sure, but you guys are down the road from my house. Convenience is key. read more

These are really nice, street tacos. They have some strange mash-ups, so you can't be afraid to be a little adventurous. Their queso is also delicious. We got a trio (queso, salsa, and guac with chips). And I loved it. So very disappointed in Rusty Taco. We haven't been in a little while (about a month) since they've changed their happy hour and prices. We decided to go to, our mistake. 1. When ordering we let the cashier and manager know last time we did a to-go order they didn't give us elotes (when we called during that time the manager took my name and told me give them my name and they would give us one). The manager told us depending on how long it's been they've had a change in managers and kind of shrugged his shoulders like "too bad for you". He asked if I knew the managers name, which after a month, no I don't remember and especially didn't think of remembering since they took my name. It was obvious he did not want to provide an elotes, but after I got a bit frustrated went ahead. 2. We have to ask for our tres grande after waiting a while, and then when we do our food is actually called before we even get that. 3. Ordered a taco with no raw onion and no cilantro (listed on receipt). Taco comes with all the toppings. We take it back, and they just scrape as much as they can and cover it in cheese to cover the remaining onions and cilantro. I go ahead and use a spoon to scoop out the rest. At the same time another woman brings their tray of tacos because none were right. 4. As we are eating I'm just watching the manager, that wonders around and even passes customers that are clearly looking for something or going to address a need or correction, etc. Finally he starts walking around actually engaging with clients (so I asked my husband if he overheard or could sense the disapproval). 5. We never finish our tres grande and always ask for a large bag of chips to go. We got a small bag filled less than halfway. Oh and gave us the completely wrong lids so when I go back up to show them that salsa is just going to leak out every where. The guy knew he gave us the wrong lids and just put the other ones on the counter without saying anything. This is just a few things, but the overall sense was a huge lack in caring about customers and more about prices and being stingy. This manager seems like he's going to cost the place lots of customers. We definitely aren't going back. It's a shame, because this used to be 5 stars. Every time we have gone over the last few months it has gotten worse. This time sealed the deal on us not returning again. read more

Not sure if the food is good here or not. We ordered fish tacos and it through em for a loop. For nearly 30 minutes they kept telling us they were making the sauce and to please be patient. We watched about 15-20 people get their orders ahead of us who arrived after us. I finally asked for my money back. The manager acted as if I were the problem and said, "We make everything fresh." (In a tone as to imply that it was normal to wait 30 minutes for 2 tacos). He couldn't have cared less. Another disclosure: I grew up going to Mexico so I know what REAL mexican food tastes like. That being said, I've come to realize that the vast majority of taco places in the US just don't know how to make tacos, so I don't expect much. The best parts of R Taco are: 1. The happy hour. Really, if you're going there anytime that isn't during their happy hour you're not terribly smart. Cheap margaritas and cheap apps equal a much more pleasant experience. 'Nuff said. 2. The young gal taking our order when we came in (tall AA gal) was very welcoming and funny. She made recommendations, was personable and just made the experience a lot better. Kudos to her! 3. The roasted pork tacos were very tasty and had plenty of meat and toppings. The other tacos we ordered- fried shrimp, fried fish, fresh fish, chorizo/egg and a pork with pineapple left a lot to be desired and were definitely lacking in the amount of ingredient department. 4. The dip trio app was actually pretty tasty; I was surprised that the salsa had a good flavor and nice spice, as it's hard to find joints with tasty salsa. Chips were hot and crispy. My favorite tacos are the shrimp, poblano vegan, and the pork. They come with cilantro and other toppings according to which one you order and have bottled or fountain drinks too. It was opening day, a few days before expected, for the newest restaurant in Hurst. It's a simple concept. A la carte tacos, chips/salsa, and beverages. We tried three of the 13 different taco choices available. All three delicious. The corn tacos have great flavor and texture. I highly recommend the roasted pork and the grilled fish tacos. They have a mild red tomato base salsa and a hotter orange pepper sauce (habanero ?), which we liked, available to add. R Taco has a good selection of beers, four on tap and several bottled brands. They also serve margaritas which we didn't try this time but will in the future. They have indoor seating and a very nice patio. The patio was a perfect choice for our Spring day visit. This is a great place for a quick meal or for snacks and beverages at happy hour. They also are open early for breakfast tacos. When you go, say hi to Brian the manager. We'll be back. read more
