I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Orange Grove Inn…read more I booked my reservation approximately one month in advance for June 18-24 and received a confirmation email showing those exact dates. As I was traveling internationally from Canada, these dates were planned well in advance and were not flexible. Before traveling, I double-checked my reservation details to ensure everything was correct. When I arrived at the hotel on the evening of June 18, the front desk agent informed me that he could not locate my reservation. After I provided my confirmation email, he searched further and stated that the reservation in their system showed dates of June 17-23 and had been marked as a "no-show" because I did not arrive on June 17. The front desk agent contacted a colleague, who reportedly advised that someone had called the hotel on June 9 claiming to be me and requested that the reservation dates be changed. I never called the hotel to modify my reservation, nor did I authorize anyone else to do so. This raises serious concerns about the hotel's reservation verification procedures. If reservation changes can be made over the phone, there should be sufficient verification measures in place to confirm the identity of the caller before altering a guest's booking, such as asking for the phone number or email on file. To make matters worse, I was charged approximately $160 CAD as a no-show fee due to a situation that was entirely outside of my control. I was informed that the charge was non-refundable. While I understand and respect no-show and cancellation policies-I work in the hair salon industry that also enforces such policies-I do not believe it is reasonable to charge a customer when the issue appears to have resulted from an error in the reservation process and the hotel business rather than any action on the guest's part. The most frustrating aspect of this experience was arriving after an international flight only to discover that I effectively had no accommodation and was left scrambling to find somewhere else to stay. What should have been the start of a relaxing vacation became an extremely stressful and costly situation. I hope management reviews this incident carefully, investigates how my reservation was altered without my authorization, and reconsiders the no-show charge. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel. UPDATE: the hotel called me and told me that they have issued the full refund which is great, but I hope they learned their lesson to be more diligent in terms of modifying/cancelling reservations and verification measures, because being stranded in a different country is not OK and it was a stupid mistake on their end that could've been easily avoided.

Mere hours before check-in, however, I received a portentous call: the establishment had indulged in the ancient art of overbooking and inquired whether I might exile myself to a different hotel -- this was notably unaccompanied by compensation, contrition, or even a perfunctory coupon. I declined. The inn itself reclines beside the freeway in what might generously be described as an auditory amphitheater. My room, strategically stationed beside the parking lot, afforded me immersive access to the oratory stylings of late-night congregants and the dulcet hum of interstate transportation. Soundproofing was aspirational. I may as well have resided in a cardboard box on Skid Row. The bedding was laughably minimal: a sheet of ecclesiastical thinness and pillows with the structural integrity of neglected paperbacks. The bathroom featured a lone hair in the sink -- perhaps a memento from a prior pilgrim -- and black grime curating the corners. As I washed my hands, I was visited by a surprise guest: a cockroach scuttling across sink. The following morning, I discovered a foreign toenail clipping nestled in my bed, as though the housekeeping staff had wished to leave me a keepsake. Not to be outdone, some nocturnal arthropod elected to feast upon me in three distinct locales, each bite swelling with concerning severity. Upon checkout, I was informed -- with bureaucratic serenity -- that my failure to summon staff at midnight rendered all grievances retroactively inadmissible. Having merely desired a safe and hygienic sanctuary in which to repose after evenings with friends, I was instead treated to a masterclass in institutional indifference. Compensation remained as mythical as the orange grove itself. In sum: a stay so memorably abysmal it borders on performance art. I shall not return, though I do hope the establishment one day aspires toward cleanliness, humility, and perhaps fewer toenails.

I guaranty you next time hubby and I visit SoCal, we are staying here. OMG......I thought the Disney Hotel was nice. First of all, "Joyce" was awesome with her customer service. The decoration followed their theme.....Lemon. The lobby smelled like lemon and the whole whole in was painted light yellow (like a lemon). They only accepted credit cards (which I really liked). No cash, Venmo, Chime, and all the other temp payment methods. After we checked in, I requested for an extra pillow (for hubby). By the time we used our key to enter the room, the pillow was there already. WHAT??? That has NEVER happened before. At other places, by the time the staff knocks on our door for the extra pillow, we're already in bed. The room was CLEAN, fresh towels, the shower was spotless, the lights were bright and most importantly (for me), the TV was working. Not just working but current technology. The remote to the tv was similar to an Apple TV remote. They provided quality shampoo and body wash. Ice machine was easily accessible and they were literally next door to a Denny's. They even offer discount to Denny's for their customers since we were staying at the Inn. Lastly, I LOVE how they use offer a "sleeping soundly" magnet or something like that, for customer's "do not disturb" moments. The only downside was my side of the reading light was not working which I mentioned to Joyce when we were checking out. I explained the situation to the front desk and the manager working and they wouldn't refund or change the dates since it was day of, so I had to pay for 2 nights when nobody checked in and used the rooms plus two rooms at an even higher costs the night we actually checked in and used them. It was pretty frustrating and being a single teacher from Arizona-the worst paying teacher salaries in the nation-money is kind of tight and this trip was a treat and a birthday gift for my friend and her family. It ended up costing a lot more than I had planned, which definitely put a damper on things. But I didn't argue and paid the four room bills, although only 2 were used and not even a future voucher for two rooms was offered instead of a refund on the two unused rooms. I tried to make a reservation for this hotel recently, but I couldn't make the reservation because the Ayres Rewards website was not working correctly. I called this hotel directly to report the website not working and to see if someone could assist me with making a reservation. The gentleman on the phone told me there was nothing that could be done about the website from his end, but that he could make my reservation for me for $191. I told him I as a Ayres Rewards member, I was only to pay $131 with my discount. He said he could not give me the Ayres Rewards member's rate of $131. I asked if someone else could help me and honor my rewards member rate and he said no. I didn't make the reservation and emailed other staff at the hotel asking for assistance and was just spun around in circles and made to feel foolish for asking to be acknowledged as the Ayres Rewards member. Because of the unprofessional, unhelpful and unfriendly treatment I received, I am no longer a member of their rewards program and I refuse to stay at any Ayres Suites. I am now taking my business elsewhere.

Most recently when I was working with an Internet company required to be in the field, I got extremely busy with phone calls, and had a huge deposit along with my booking for my room. When it was due to be rebooked, I wound rush downstairs since they would not take payment over the phone. One day, Ivonne, I believe, had called and informed me they had to re run my card, I was on the other line with my manager from work. She got extremely hostile with me and I hung up the phone on her. I had around $1500 deposit on hold for several days, I told her I would come re extend downstairs. She raised her voice and tone and I hung up the call, she called back and asked: "Did you just hang up on me? ", knowing I had a $1500 deposit on my room I was looking for my card to rebook. When I hung up the call, she called back and stated I could not rebook due to hanging up the call on her (very weird and personal I know), then I told her I would come down with the card to rebook, and she proceeds to say: "No you are not rebooking", and I asked to speak to higher management, and she stated she was higher management, and to leave the property. She got on a power trip and I had been staying there for a few weeks already, and wanted to speak to higher management about telling me to leave. She then jumps straight to saying: "And now you're getting abrasive, so if you do not leave the property, I will calling the police department". So at that point, not only was I being rudely told to leave with a large deposit on file (around $1500) she also threatened me with the police when I simply responded to her questions over the phone, she accused me of doing something I was not doing . I didn't actually have time to even argue with her since my boss kept calling me on the other line. I used to love staying here because they provide breakfast and meals. There are sketchy workers in the parking lot when you come and go at late hours of the night if you are alone.
