We are regulars to Ruth's Chris. Hands down the best steak experience. Visited on 10/18 for our anniversary. Writing this review only because we have noticed the last few visits the service has gone down. Perhaps they can't get/retain top notch servers like they used to have. This past visit a food runner brought out our meals. No problem. Our server never came out to check on us until after we finished our entire meal. We then waited another 30 min for a piece of cheesecake. Then had to hunt down our server for the check. Not what we expect when we come here. Only saving grace was the food. AWESOME. I guess I should have complained the the Manager, but I'm too much of an introvert. I just gave a low tip. The other tables seemed to have good servers. I love Ruth's Chris! I use to eat it all the time when I lived in AL but once I moved I don't eat it as much anymore. However, for Mother's Day I didn't feel like cooking and wanted some good ole Ruth's Chris. I was so happy with this decision. It was delicious. Due to the Corona virus, I ordered online and did pick-up. I guess everyone else thought the same thing on Mother's Day. It was packed. My pick-up time was for 5 pm and I arrived at 4:50 pm. However, I waited for 45 min and did not get my food until 5:35 pm. It was packed and by the time I left it was a line out the door. Everyone was crowded in the small front doorway area. Not ideal for social distancing but it is what it is. There was also only 3 people working the front for orders. I wasn't happy about my wait but the food was so good! My husband and I shared all of the food, except the salads. We ordered the Surf & Turf, Stuffed Chicken Breast, House Salad, Caesar Salad, 2 Mashed Potatoes and 2 Creamed Spinach. The food was amazing as it always has been. Even the salad was good. Lol! Also all of the food was cooked and seasoned perfect. I was truly happy with my meal. We also ordered a cheesecake. I felt it was a rip off. I've had the cheesecake from Ruth's Chris before and it wasn't that small. We received a cheesecake probably 2.5" diameter. We took about 2.5 bites each and it was gone. So the bread in the beginning was great. I ordered a coffee and San Pell and the coffee never came but that's okay. My steak I ordered medium rare and although the photo looks mid rare the in the center it was very rare which I'm fine with but still not what I ordered. My wife's steak was ordered medium and came out with hardly any pink whatsoever. She's pregnant so maybe that was God looking out for us but regardless not how we wanted it prepared. We got the creamed spinach taken off because it was inedible which was weird we normally love it. Sweet potatoes always have the same problem.. there's never enough. This was my first experience here. Came to celebrate my friend's accomplishment of being matched by her doctoral program. We were a party of like 12 people. We arrived at 8.... Drinks came out at 845, they didn't take our order until 9 or so, food came out a little after 10 and we didn't get our checks until close to 11! It was a cluster of issues starting with no communication from our waitress, no bread for the table and just a blatant disregard for us period! We tried talking to the waitress, managers and even sent an email to corporate.. But we know how that typically ends. Waiter didn't come around to give water until after 10-15 mins of being seated (the restaurant was not busy at this time). Bread was burned on the bottom. I expected better service and experience for how expensive food was. When we finally got our food, I had ordered medium and it was medium rare so had to send it back. And my family also had issues with their steak and had to send it back. Another family member got the lobster Mac and cheese and it was cold. Honestly would not come back due to service and the way the food was cooked. When it's $40 dollars minimum for a steak I expect the service to be way better and for my food to come how I ordered it. Edit: They took our steaks back and gave us completely new ones and they were way better. They even gave us new sides. TLDR: not worth the price. Everything was over salted. Be prepared to be bloated (from either water retention because of high salt content or from drinking too much water trying to dilute down the salt) for the next day. Came here as a celebration dinner, but I was never asked by the staff whether we were "celebrating" for anything, kind of odd for a steakhouse or restaurant that comes with an above average price tag. No big deal though. We were seated at the table by the entrance, the constant in and out of customers make it quite an unenjoyable experience as cold air keeps sweeping in. We ordered the small seafood tower, the presentation was lacking. There was a lot of empty space on the tower; please don't be lazy and use your same plating as "one size fits all". When your plate is oversized, it made the tower seems even smaller. We got 4 colossal shrimp, 1 king crab leg, a couple clusters (garlic clove size) of crab meat, and a whole lobster. The quality was that typical of a steakhouse quality, it didn't blow me away. They were definitely pre-frozen (and probably have been for a while), the crab leg and the lobster were both a bit dry and lack flavor (actually had to eat them with cocktail sauce to get a flavor boost). For our steak, we ordered the tomahawk to share. It was a very fatty cut (and honestly, I have never had tomahawk so fatty I wanted to puke halfway). The steak was not nicely "marbled", it was uneven chunks of meat and fat. Most of the steakhouses I have been to would show me the pre-cooked steak to get our ok on the steak before cooking it (just so we can agree on the fattiness or the steak), but not Ruth's Chris. Quality-wise, it was not a bad steak. Execution-wise, the steak was over seasoned with salt, we were both drinking A LOT of water the whole meal because of how salty the steak was. For a good quality steak, all you need is just a little salt, not chunks of salt crystals! We ordered creamed spinach, Brussels sprouts, and potato Au gratin as our sides. The creamed spinach was my favorite side, but it was not extraordinary, it was your regular steakhouse creamed spinach (definitely not worth the price tag), the Brussels sprouts were okay (could have been more crispy), potato au gratin was my favorite steakhouse side, but Ruth's Chris totally ruined it with the over salty cheese on top (the actual potato slices and layering were nice, it was just the cheese that kind of ruined it). Overall, I think Ruth's Chris did not perform well on the execution of the ingredients. Everything was overly seasoned, there is no balance whatsoever. My family and I went here for my birthday on 12/4. My wife got fish and the rest of us got steaks. The fish gave my wife food poison (she still sick as of today) and the steaks were over seasoned. We also got dessert. The cheesecake(s) were horrible. The service was good (made recommendations). The ambiance was poor. I was told to "take my ball cap off" before entering. It was an Ivy Cap that matched my suit. Upon entering the building there were several people sitting at the bar with actual ball caps and beanies on. For a party of five the bill was nearly $700. Our waiter was able to get them to turn the heat down and that helped so much! We ordered the tomahawk for 2 medium, truffle Mac and au gratin. Our meal was absolutely perfect. Our steak came out perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and presented beautifully. We loved the truffle Mac! Our waiter David went above and beyond to provide the best service possible. My daughter took me here for my birthday since I've never been. When we arrived, they had our table decked out in "Happy Birthday" confetti - a nice touch! I ordered the 6 oz Filet Oscar which was rich & delicious. My sides were sweet potato casserole & chopped salad. My daughter got the NY strip steak & a loaded baked potato. I tasted her steak & it was excellent. Though this restaurant is known for their steaks, I have to say my sides were the stars of my meal. My chopped salad was the best salad I have even eaten & the sweet potato casserole was divine. I would return just to order those sides again & I'd try the creamed spinach on the next visit. To end a wonderful evening, our server brought me a Happy Birthday strawberry shortcake complete with a candle & "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate. This place is absolutely amazing and the people here treat everyone that walks in like family. Starting with the host Klein or "Buck" , to the server Bryce, and the manager Ashley the service was absolutely fantastic. The food is amazing and the people are even better. When we asked to switch the TV channel the batteries for the remote had died, so Ashley, the manager, ran to her apartment next door to get some for us to use. Replying to the lady Tia B. who decided to write a negative comment on Bryce, you should not be going to yelp in an attempt to get free food while you are drunk. First of all, we have known Bryce for a long time and he has one of the sweetest hearts of any server you will ever meet. Secondly, this lady was across the bar from us while we were there and she ruined the mood for everyone around her. She started yelling false accusations while obviously drunk. Yikes Christmas service is rough. Sharing tables during Covid. Poor to no planning to get this dinner accomplished. Waited 30 minutes to get a high top table shared with other guests- in all the Christmas dinners we've had. Out of Riesling at 5:45. Our server had long hair not pulled back and too close to the food and drinks. Out of shrimp cocktail by 6pm. Unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. We should have known to turn around when one guest was walking out saying they felt like they had been at the restaurant for 5 hours. It's breaks my heart to do this review. I went to Ruth Chris to celebrate my grand girls last night with us here in Cincinnati. (They live out of state) enjoyed our meal as always Ruth's is one of my all time favorites. Got home and realized they charged my card twice. I gave them a call on Sunday and Mitchell the manager ensured me that it would be straighten out by Tuesday. I thought that was a long time but I gave them the benefit of the doubt because I love this place so much. Welp! It's Wednesday and they still have pending charges on my account. The saddest part is the attitude of Mitchell who was very dismissive and told me this was my banks issue and it had nothing to do with him. He sighed a lot and kept repeating "You can dispute the charges with your financial institution." There was a lot of back and forth with Mitchell I even asked for his supervisors name and number and he responded "I can't give out his personal information " finally I gave up because it was clear he didn't care and that was that. I still favor Ruby's but would consider this place as a nice alternative. Like the view and location. Our service was pretty slow, so that was a downside. Caesar salad - pretty basic but it was fine Fresh bread- not worth the carbs (cold and no flavor) Filet steak- very nicely done Au Gratin potatoes - cheesy with a hint of garlic - yum! I went here to celebrate getting a new full time job before graduating from college and the experience was horrible. The server wasn't helpful at all, they wouldn't help make anything vegan minus a baked potato plain (as if that would be appetizing). The server checked on all the tables around us so often but stopped at ours maybe 3 times the entire night. To top it off, the bread they served us was moldy and when I asked for new bread he said "oh, let me see if I can" no apology no bill credit no nothing. I should add I'm highly allergic to penicillin so had I eaten that and not noticed I definitely would've had to go to the ER. We decided to try a new steak house for my friend's birthday so we selected Ruth's Chris Steak House. Dinner Reservation was at 7:30pm and they sat us by 7:35pm which was extremely prompt for reservations. We entered the restaurant and it was decorated tastefully from the holiday. The bar was situated in the upper portion of the restaurant. The bartenders were all skilled and experts with their drink menus. They were all very friendly and did a good job recommending drinks. They took up upstairs to the second floor and seated us by the windows which was a pleasant surprise. The service and wait staff were by far of the best I have ever experienced. Super friendly, prompt, and took care of us the whole evening. The waiter did an excellent job pacing the courses from appetizers to salads, main dish, and of course desserts. We ordered Ruth's classic which came with a salad, steak, and dessert for $57.00. The appetizer we ordered of crab cakes were divine and super fresh tasting. What a great deal for three courses. The Harvest salad with balsamic dressing was full of flavors and fresh. The 16 oz rib eye was amazing with flavors seasoned really well. My favorite was how they actually prepared it correctly per the request of medium rare. Tender, moist, and juicy. The flavors were amazing. One of the best steaks prepared by the chef. The cheese cake dessert was really good as well. The wine menu was absolutely amazing with a large selection of reds, blends, and whites. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a romantic dining, or family dining experience in Ohio. This would also be a great location for company events. The noise level was moderate to low and you could actually hear yourself have a conversation. The service to the excellent food was definitely a five star with comparable pricing. We went for a special occasion, celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary. Despite noting this special occasion on our dinner reservation, there was absolutely no acknowledgement of anniversary until the server delivered the bill, likely to encourage a good tip. Service was slow and horrible. The atmosphere was very loud and far from romantic, since we were seated at a long bench right next to several couples and an extremely cold window. The food was just ok, nothing special. On our way out, we provided feedback to the manager and he gave us a very light hearted apology. He stated they had over 600 people and our occasion was simply missed. Given the other amazing romantic upscale steakhouses in the Cincinnati area, Jeff Ruby's, Jags and others, skip this one. It's clear Ruth's Chris is a typical chain experience and not meant for celebrating special occasions. Learn from our mistake and celebrate your special occasion at restaurants who care to help you celebrate. We had a 7:15PM reservation and got seated around 7:20PM. Long story short, we did get our lobster bisque, but by 9PM nothing else had been served. At 9PM our waiter told us we were the third table up to receive our dinner, and he was not very nice about it. We finally walked out, after paying the bill for what we had received. The manager was incredibly snide. Needless to say, we will never be visiting any Ruth's Chris again. I have hosted a few dozen business dinners here and in the Taipei and Taichung, Taiwan Ruth's Chris, so this is not a small item. For such fine dining, it is sad to have waitstaff and basic management issues create such a lost nice opportunity. I hope Darden understands what they have gotten themselves in to. read more

So, it was befitting that last night on my son's 27th we would go to Ruth Chris to have an appetizer and enjoy a drink. I cooked for him at home so this was going to be a nightcap. When we arrived the hostess was preoccupied with a guest. Soon a manager came around the corner and spoke with the guest. We wanted to sit at the bar and was told that a few guest would be leaving soon so we waited. I went to that restroom. When I returned the manager proceeded to ask me how he could help me. I said we are waiting for three seats at the bar. He said you can't dine with us because you have on cut up shorts. I said ok and we left. Now, this is my gripe: Ruth Chris Cincinnati needs to be consistent across the board when it comes to their dress policies. I mentioned that I dine at Ruth Chris often times wearing whatever I choose. At restaurant that night, I saw a man in a basketball jersey, a lady with cut up jeans and halter top, a man with sweatpants and a sweat shirt and finally a lady in workout clothes. I did have on cut up shorts but I also had on a tank top and a blazer. I think I was the most appropriate of all but not according to the managers standing. If you have a policy that excludes people be consistent across the board. Your loyal customers are counting on you to get it right. read more

Where do I begin. Understand that there's a labor issue/shortage right now, but the quality of staff here is unbelievably bad. I've loved this place for many years so I'm sad to write this. When I walked in today, I was told by the female manager that my tank top was inappropriate and to cover up before walking in. Middle of the day during a Reds game, and we just wanted to sit at the bar. My friend took her jean jacket off so I could wear it and we obliged. I've been to this place multiple times in the same outfit and live in the area and love to give this place business. The manager (far right in the photo) came over and told us that we should think about leaving even after I was covered up with a jacket, because we were all laughing about it with the bartenders. Her behavior is unacceptable and our group complained to the bartender about the hypothetical dress policy she made up and he gave us champagne because he felt bad. We asked her to explain the dress policy to us since others had the same type of tank top on nearby and she stormed away and couldn't give an explanation. She then threatened to kick us out midway through our dinner just because she felt like it. We avoided eye contact with her and finished our food quickly so we could avoid getting kicked out arbitrarily to satisfy her desire to be on a power trip. There were people sitting at the bar with ripped jeans and sweatshirts on and revealing clothing. I had a black tank with black pants on and nice shoes. I have worn this same outfit at Jeff Ruby's and nicer establishments without an issue. This place has gone seriously, seriously downhill. And they can't even keep half of the bottom of their restaurant filled during the middle of a Reds game - maybe try treating the few customers that are there nicely and apply your same "dress code" to everyone. The customer service is atrocious, and this manager is going to ruin this restaurant. Not to mention that it took an hour to get the food that we ordered at the bar. The bartenders felt bad about everything and treated us to two free rounds of champagne - David the bardender is a gem and was the only bright spot. He undoubtedly should be running the place. We have never been treated this way in a nicer restaurant by a so-called manager (host staff pictured in the photo were also extremely rude when checking in). The nearby patrons also felt bad/agreed with us about the behavior of the management and echoed our sentiments. This it's a STEAK house! A 500 degree plate with a filet that taste like butter on your tongue. I almost cried when I realized I was taking my last bite. I've never had anything like it! I've been telling my husband... We've got to go experience this place. It's been here for quite some time now, 2 years I think. He finally took me for our anniversary. I didn't want to leave. I think if anyone would have had leftovers on their plates after leaving, ... I may have eaten them... It's sooo good! I almost licked the plate. My steak was medium well, slightly pink. Since it came out a little redder than normal, I just slice the steak and cooked it a little longer on my 500 degree plate. It came with one side. Garlic mashed potatoes are sooo good.
