Where do I begin. Understand that there's a labor issue/shortage right now, but the quality of staff here is unbelievably bad. I've loved this place for many years so I'm sad to write this. When I walked in today, I was told by the female manager that my tank top was inappropriate and to cover up before walking in. Middle of the day during a Reds game, and we just wanted to sit at the bar. My friend took her jean jacket off so I could wear it and we obliged. I've been to this place multiple times in the same outfit and live in the area and love to give this place business. The manager (far right in the photo) came over and told us that we should think about leaving even after I was covered up with a jacket, because we were all laughing about it with the bartenders. Her behavior is unacceptable and our group complained to the bartender about the hypothetical dress policy she made up and he gave us champagne because he felt bad. We asked her to explain the dress policy to us since others had the same type of tank top on nearby and she stormed away and couldn't give an explanation. She then threatened to kick us out midway through our dinner just because she felt like it. We avoided eye contact with her and finished our food quickly so we could avoid getting kicked out arbitrarily to satisfy her desire to be on a power trip. There were people sitting at the bar with ripped jeans and sweatshirts on and revealing clothing. I had a black tank with black pants on and nice shoes. I have worn this same outfit at Jeff Ruby's and nicer establishments without an issue. This place has gone seriously, seriously downhill. And they can't even keep half of the bottom of their restaurant filled during the middle of a Reds game - maybe try treating the few customers that are there nicely and apply your same "dress code" to everyone. The customer service is atrocious, and this manager is going to ruin this restaurant. Not to mention that it took an hour to get the food that we ordered at the bar. The bartenders felt bad about everything and treated us to two free rounds of champagne - David the bardender is a gem and was the only bright spot. He undoubtedly should be running the place. We have never been treated this way in a nicer restaurant by a so-called manager (host staff pictured in the photo were also extremely rude when checking in). The nearby patrons also felt bad/agreed with us about the behavior of the management and echoed our sentiments. I've lived at the banks and have been a long-standing customer of this place, and will not be back. read more

Server had the personality of a brick wall, serves was ungodly slow, and special accommodations where not made. Now, usually I can overlook all these things if the food is great. It was anything but. The only good things I ate were the salad and the mashed potato's. Asparagus was bland and undercooked, steak had no flavor other than that of a flavor reminding me of unseasoned ground beef, and to top it off our drinks had to be remade. Waiter didn't care, manager was no where to be found, date ruined. Overall, while I have loved this place on the past, the fiancée and I will be taking out business elsewhere. We went for a special occasion, celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary. Despite noting this special occasion on our dinner reservation, there was absolutely no acknowledgement of anniversary until the server delivered the bill, likely to encourage a good tip. Service was slow and horrible. The atmosphere was very loud and far from romantic, since we were seated at a long bench right next to several couples and an extremely cold window. The food was just ok, nothing special. On our way out, we provided feedback to the manager and he gave us a very light hearted apology. He stated they had over 600 people and our occasion was simply missed. Given the other amazing romantic upscale steakhouses in the Cincinnati area, Jeff Ruby's, Jags and others, skip this one. It's clear Ruth's Chris is a typical chain experience and not meant for celebrating special occasions. Came here for an unplanned Sunday night dinner with my dad. Without a reservation, we were seated right away which was great. We both decided to order the classic menu which includes a starter, entree, side, and dessert for $50 - a STEAL. Our waiter was great and the food came out piping hot - exactly how we like it. The steak was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. 100% recommend the cheesecake for dessert and we will definitely be back for this deal. read more

I stick to happy hour at RC which is an awesome deal. My family pretty much all order the hamburger which is massive for $9 but I like the steak sandwich, has a nice kick to it and really delicious. Great drink specials also. Get there early to get a seat in the bar for the specials. read more

Came for my birthday and it was awesomeness! I made a reservation because it was super busy...walked right to my table! They had "happy birthday" confetti on the table and a card which was a nice touch. The food (very pricey) is ala carte and piping hot and amazing! The chicken is my favorite thing on the menu! They then brought out a complimentary dessert with "happy birthday" on it and a candle! I was so happy and it was truly a great birthday dinner. Overall: we are living in a food movement in Cincinnati and while Ruth's Chris' prices put it in the top 1%, a better meal can be had for much less (Salazar, Orchids at Palm Court, just to name a few). Food: probably the best piece of steak have ever had. It was tender enough to melt in your mouth, and cooked perfectly. However, the spicy crab was average at best. I expected perfection and at least the steak lived up to my expectations. Overall I would still give the food itself 4-5 stars. Prices: Out of this world. Why eat at a 5 Diamond restaurant like Orchids at Palm Court when you could overpay here? Since this is a national chain I don't think they really bothered to research what a $80+ per person meal can buy in Cincinnati. Location: I was a bit disappointed that this restaurant went in to the Banks. For such an upmarket chain, it would have been better suited in a classy, stone-and-brass building in downtown. But where is it?... In the quickly thrown up papery new construction at the banks. Sure, they slapped some composite and faux wood on the walls, but the location just isn't coming off as high end. Even compare to Moerlein (which has some architectural quality and design despite being modern) and Ruths Chris falls short. read more

We ate at the restaurant tonight to celebrate an anniversary. From the moment I walked in the door while my husband parked the car until the manager moment we left, we were disappointed. After a lukewarm greeting from the front desk I was shown to our table and it was 20 minutes before we saw our waiter. One of the servers took pity on me and brought water and bread and said that he would look for our waiter. The food was mediocre including the chopped salad and bread. The steaks were presentable. On Valentine's day, my husband and I made a reservation 2 weeks prior. We eat there about 4-5 times annually. This time was the worst time ever. It started with the hostess. She sat us at a table and we asked to move to an empty table near the window. She had major attitude and told us that we should put that in the notes when we make a reservation. She did move us, but I was very disappointed in her actions. Also, it took over an HOUR for us to get our food. The waiter did not let us know what was going on until he picked up our salad bowls. Let me start off by saying that a host or hostess should welcome guests. We had a party of 4 & the hostess was not very friendly. My friend left his mask in the car & the hostess did not have any disposable masks to hand out. She said my friend should go buy one at the local market. With the prices of food at this restaurant, I believe they should have masks to hand out. She then told my husband he needed to take off his Boston Scally hat to fit into the dress code. We had just walked in the door and all had our winter coats and hats on. There was no welcoming ambiance or appreciation for customers. Our server was very professional and the food was good. However, I am still in awe of our first impression walking in the restaurant. I doubt we will be back. In this day and age, appreciate customers, thank them for their business and treat them with kindness. Our first time visiting and the evening was great! We were seated promptly though another couple we were meeting was a delayed. They were caught in traffic. The server we were assigned (Max) was very understanding. We told him about the other couple being delayed and he still attended to us. He was outgoing, friendly, and easy to joke with. One of a handful of nationwide prime steak houses. If you go to one of these you will dish out about 75 bucks be a person. Ruth Chris has many positive points. The most important is the steak. Very good a simple seasoning that is delivered on a hot hot hot plate. Next is the sides what we tried brussel sprouts and augratin potato very good. And last is they offer a meal special for a really decent price. 50 bucks for a nice filet or ribeye, salad, side and dessert. Drink's made good but expect to pay over 10 bucks. Hot bread good not special. Service was as you would expect outstanding. So go treat yourself. And enjoy. read more

Went here on a whim before Reds game. We were a little nervous that they wouldn't take us do to having game hats on and not "dressed" up but it was no issue for bar rail. Arrived before they opened which there was a line. If your not going to bar rail, you will absolutely need reservations. Upon entering, it is nicely decorated, tables were prepared for fine dining, and low lighting. Hostess guided up to bar rail with menus where we were immediately greeted and given drink menus for those that wanted drinks. We decided to order a bunch of appetizers and share them. We ordered crab cakes, Spicy shrimp, stuffed grilled chicken, lobster bisque and had complimentary bread. There wasn't one thing we ordered that we did not like. All was excellent. Complimentary bread was just ok but everything else was great. From service to leaving was all excellent. However, for the price I would expect that. This place is very expensive but you get what you pay for. I wouldn't recommend it for kids but you can bring them. This is more high class. More for adults or meeting of some sort. read more

So... I'm giving a bit of grace here with my 4 star review. This was my second thanksgiving at Ruth's Chris. Last year was phenomenal, this year not so much. Let me start at the beginning. We waited 15 minutes for our table to be ready (we had reservations). While we were waiting... in walks a party of 4. They tell the host that they don't have reservations, Ruth's Chris worker says, we can give you that table and points to the table that the hostess already said was being prepared for us. I approach the stand and inquire about our table. Party of 4 asks the hostess if we were there first. I know, not making sense right. I politely tell the lady, "We have reservations." She backed off and somehow, her party that just walked in was seated before my party of 5. Ok so whatever. Moving on, service was super super super slow. Our waiter and waitress were nice but I couldn't tell if it was them or the kitchen. I understand it's the holiday but we could all tell they were not prepared for this busy day. Bread finally came out after maybe 25 minutes. Appetizers came out eventually and the server finally grabbed our drinks 10 minutes after he said he saw that they were ready. Omg. At this point, I'm just praying that things don't get worse. Finally after over an hour, our food arrived. Thank heavens the steaks were perfectly prepared as expected. Sides were delicious as usual. We mistakenly ordered dessert and that took forever as well. We asked for two desserts to go and I'll let you look at my pics to see how poorly presented the pumpkin cheesecake was. O Ruth's Chris!!! The only thing that saved me from putting 3 starts was the delicious steak. The thanksgiving meal was impressive as well (check out the pics). We want to spend our next thanksgiving with you but I'm not sure if I want to take a chance on service again. When I drop $300 on dinner, my expectations for service is high. My very generous brother-in-law wanted to treat me and my husband to a great meal as a belated Christmas present. My husband loves a good steak so he chose Ruth's Chris Steak House at the Banks, since we've heard Ruth's mentioned as a steak house institution. We made a reservation for two for Sunday, February 16 for 6:30 p.m. We arrived about 10 minutes early and the small foyer was PACKED. There was a very young woman at check in, joined occasionally by a frazzled looking man. They didn't really make eye contact with people or tell us what was going on, although the woman noted that she was checking upstairs to see if some tables were open. After looking at their watches, a party of four got up and left. Little by little, the groups that where there before us (and one that arrived after) were seated. We were seated upstairs at about 6:45 and I was surprised the room was half empty. Our server was kind but clearly overwhelmed. We got water and ordered wine. Bread arrived about 10 minutes later. There was another wait for the wine. Some time later, we ordered from the winter classics menu, which featured three courses with a choice of protein. Again, the service was slow, but the potato and leek soup and the Caesar salad were excellent. My filet was delicious and my husband felt the same about his ribeye. Our sides of creamed spinach and scalloped potatoes (a side from the main menu that cost us a bit more) and cremini mushrooms (an extra order) were also good. The mushrooms on the steaks really worked well. The bread pudding for dessert was small but tasty (we got it to go, so no ice cream for us). This is kind of how I think of classic '50s food, well executed, as it should be for the price. We were there about three hours from start to finish and it's nice not to be rushed but honestly, it just took a long time for everything. I appreciate that it was Valentine's weekend but surely the number of reservations should have better informed staffing numbers. For premium prices, I expected service to match. UPDATE: Ruth's Chris new manager kindly mailed me a gift card to make up for the so so service we experienced. We used it to treat a friend and her family to a birthday meal, ordering three steak sandwiches, two burgers and two orders of macaroni and cheese to go. Because we were using a gift card, we couldn't order online and had to call in our order - no big deal. When we pulled up, our food was ready and off we went. Sadly, the Mac cheese was not in our bags (I'm waiting on a refund) but the steak sandwiches, burgers and Sarasota chips were excellent. read more

We only came here because we had a gift card. Sat at bar to cheer on Bengals. Ordered drinks and appetizers. Cheering Bengals by whistling. No big deal ! Right... apparently I offended the room. Came for a Happy Hour with a group of 5 - DEFINITELY need to get there right at 4 to get a table in the bar area if you want to get a table at all. I do not like beef but everyone I was with got the Steak Sandwich ($10) and said it was amazing. I opted for the chicken sandwich ($10) and the side salad which was also amazing! The chicken was juicy, flavorful and the salad was tasty with fruit. The Pomegranate Martini ($9) was the drink I chose first and it was a good classic fruity martini. I also tried the Gin drink ($10) and it was nice and refreshing. Our wait staff was extremely attentive and made the overall experience that much better. Been to Ruth Chris in several location across the country and this was my least favorite experience. No valet parking and trying to find parking during a Reds game was a nightmare. Service was a bit slow but it seemed like our server had a bunch of tables. We still tipped 30% as he did his best. I understand it's tough to enforce a dress code but I've never seen so many logo T-shirts and shorts in a Ruth Chris before. Just an average experience. Had heard a lot of great feedback about this restaurant so was excited to go for our first time there for dinner. While the food was truly exceptional ("5") it was overshadowed by the poor service ("2") - it should have been exceptional as well. We were extremely disappointed in our server ("Todd"). Not sure how he could have "28 years" of experience and provide that low level of service at this type of restaurant. Our first impression was that he was abrasively loud, and it went downhill from there. His service was slow the entire time (not sure where he went), some of the sides were cold, had to ask numerous times for the same basic requests (like drinks) so much so that the manager had to help him. (The manager was great ("5") - very attentive and personable.) Will probably go back for the food and to give the place another try to have the exceptional service others rave about, but would have to walk out if he would be assigned to our table again. read more

I had a great experience when I dined in on a Saturday night. David was my server and was very knowledgeable about the menu and the history of the restaurant. Our steaks (filet and bone-in NY strip) were cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the sweet potato casserole and loaded baked potato. The manager, Ashley, came by our table and asked us how our night was going. She was very kind and acknowledged our confetti the hostess had put on our table. The hostess was very friendly (Sophia), she brought us to our table that had confetti that said happy anniversary, it was a very special touch. As we were enjoying our appetizers the manager, Ashley brought us a bottle of champagne and wished us a happy anniversary. I have been to multiple Ruth's Chris locations across the US. The Cincinnati location experience was not on par with the rest. The food and ambiance were of the same quality that makes Ruth's great; however, this particular location is significantly understaffed for the amount of guests they are managing. While everyone that we encountered were knowledgeable and friendly, they were clearly being run too thin. As a guest, this issue presented itself in numerous ways: everything from excessive waiting to be escorted to our table (table was prepared but not enough staff to seat the arriving guests), waiting for our waiter to take down our initial orders while rarely returning to accept additional requests, waiting for simple refills on the water, and even waiting to get the check and then receiving our credit card back. We were not under any time constraints; however, the large gaps of time between staff sightings did become bothersome for us and the guests around us. Bottom line, if you're willing to pay for a good steak in Cincinnati, go to any of Jeff Ruby's restaurants. The food and ambiance are comparable with the top service you'd expect for this level of dining experience. read more

Worst customer service ever by Kathy (manager). She did not greet us when we entered after the game. We had made reservations weeks prior. She immediately said we can't serve you and pointed to my daughter because she was wearing shorts after the bengals game! I Understand the dress code but her delivery and nastiness was not acceptable. She should absolutely not be in a manager or customer service role. Thank good for Victoria who stepped right in and offered us some solutions and also offered a free app. Praise to her!!!! She should be promoted and she understands how to take care of customers !!! Kathy looked and seemed miserable and mad at the world and took it out on us and ruined our dining experience! She kept giving us dirty looks throughout the evening as well. Needless to say we dined at Sotto the next night and was treated like royalty with exceptional care. Ruth Chris needs to take notes and follow Sotto. Honestly just be a kind person !!! I had the GARLIC CRUSTED SEA BASS which is tender fillet, topped with a panko garlic crust & lemon butter. We coupled it with baked potatoes and steak house salads. The entrees were to die for! I came with my bf to Ruth's Chris for Greater Cincy Restaurant Week and boy did we wish we had skipped. While our server was very nice and attentive the chef seemed to be having a bad day. Our meats weren't cooked as requested (medium rare and medium) instead we got two tasteless hockey pucks. Our mash potatoes had undercooked chunks in it and were so salty they were inedible. It is not my first time going to this chain restaurant, I frequented the one in Miami where the food was excellent, but the Cincy location is one I will not waste a dime on. read more

Only my 3rd visit to RCSH, the first and second were in Hawaii and everything was amazing! The finest steak I had ever had! This is what we had been telling our friends for months prior to our visit yesterday for my birthday celebration. Our waiter Matt provided outstanding service and we will be seated in his section for Thanksgiving. Our Caesar salad was missing croutons and IMHO had too much dressing. Our steaks, 1 was ordered medium well, 3 were ordered medium rare. They were presented the exact opposite! My husband's ribeye was chewy, my filet was tender but cooked medium well. We did not send our food back! Our waiter heard us saying we could have gotten a better steak at a well known chain for 1/4 of the price. He brought it to the manager's attention and he generously comped our bill. We will give them a second chance on Thanksgiving! read more
