My husband and I visited this location to celebrate our anniversary. The hostess told us it would be "just a minute or two," but we ended up waiting closer to 10-15 minutes to be seated. To be fair, we arrived earlier than our reservation time; however, there were hardly any guests seated in the dining area, so I'm not sure why there was a delay. We also overheard the hostess speaking tersely with another couple while we were waiting to be seated. It seems there might have been some confusion around their reservation; however, instead of apologizing and trying to remedy the situation, she led by telling the couple they made a mistake. Not the best customer service, from my vantage point. All of that being said, we had a great experience once we were actually seated. Chip was our server, and he went above and beyond to make our visit a memorable one. The food was delicious as well, and the 3-course meal for $60 is a great deal! The French onion soup was very peppery - not what I'm used to, but good in its own way. The filet and shrimp were cooked to perfection, and we were able to take our chocolate cheesecake to-go afterward. I recently had dinner at Ruth's Chris and the experience was uneven. I started with a salad that really missed the mark--it came out as a pile of greens with the dressing simply plopped on top. For a higher‑end steakhouse, I expected it to be tossed so the flavors were balanced instead of feeling rushed. I ordered the truffle‑crusted filet mignon, and unfortunately the steak was the biggest letdown of the night. I asked for medium‑well, but it arrived very well‑done with burnt ends that tasted bitter. It was also under‑seasoned, and I couldn't taste the truffle at all, which defeated the purpose of ordering that preparation. For the price point, I expected much better execution. The bright spot of the meal was the sides. The mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were both flavorful, comforting, and exactly what you hope for at a steakhouse. Overall, the sides delivered, but the overcooked, under‑seasoned steak and the poorly presented salad kept the experience from living up to the reputation. We made a reservation to celebrate my husband's birthday on a week day. The service was great. They gave us a nice seating area near the window. The interesting thing was there's a different person filling our water, taking our order and serving our food. Everyone was nice and eager to assist whenever we made eye contact. The food was phenomenal. We loved the Brussels sprouts. It's crispy, spicy and garlicky. The sea bass was seasoned well... the texture was so smooth. It literally melted in my mouth. The steak was also cooked perfectly. You wouldn't need sauce to go with it cause the butter added so much flavor. At the end of the meal, they brought out a birthday treat. The cheesecake was delicious. It was the perfect way to end the night. Btw if you make reservation for a table, you won't be able to order from the Happy Hour menu. Now, for those of you that read my reviews you know my number one pet peeve is when food comes out at different times for each guest or the mains get dropped when the appetizers are not done. Well... 100% flawless on these counts. We were not rushed and our mains came out about 13 minutes after we competed the appetizers and all of them and the side dishes were brought out at the same time. Faaaaantastic. As it should be. Made a reservation to dine here on a Friday night to try their $55 deal. I must say, the place is pretty happening! Think the marketing is working for them. This location has self parking on the upper floor parking garage, or valet parking as well. We visited with a stroller and was seated at a nice corner spot with lots of room. We saw other parties with kids as well so it lowered our stress level (luckily our baby was super chill and quiet!) The $55 deal by itself was actually a good amount of food, but they do offer additional options for extra. Appetizer: House salad, Caesar salad, or soup. We had the Caesar salad and it was delicious! Good portion size for a side salad as well. Main: 8oz prime steak, salmon and shrimp, or stuffed chicken breast. Two of us got the 8oz prime steak and it was above my expectations! Very juicy and tender. One of us subbed out the prime to a 8oz New York strip steak for no additional cost (not on menu). There were also additional options to sub for fillet mignon for extra. Side: Mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, or brussel sprouts. The mashed potatoes were fantastic! Comes as a separate container so easy to share if you want to get different ones. Dessert: Small cheesecake is what is included, also option to pay $5 extra for a full dessert like creme brulee, bread pudding, etc. The cheesecake was decent, bread pudding is massive but the alcohol was a little too strong for me. But the creme brulee was the true standout! Super delicious! We also got the calamari appetizer and lobster mac and cheese in addition to our $55 meal deal, but in hindsight we over ordered and had to take food home. The calamari was very tasty and I would recommend that over the lobster mac. The service was great and our server was very friendly and engaged in casual conversation with us. He also was very attentive to my husband's soda refill and even brought out a small pitcher as a win-win since he was drinking it so fast (which we was very happy about!) After dinner, my friend and I stopped by for dessert and cocktails. We ordered a creme brûlée to share. I got an espresso martini and my friend got a glass of Chardonnay. We both enjoyed the dessert and our drinks. We were seated in the courtyard which had a long stretched fire pit. The ambiance was really beautiful with the fire pit and stringed lights. Came here on Valentine's Day. Very busy. Pretty large restaurant. Place looked nice inside. When going to our table, a couple decided they did not like where they were sitting and took our booth reserved for us. The staff were able to get us another booth but had to wait a few minutes. Staff were very sorry and tried to make our dining experience better. We got the crab cakes, cowboy ribeye with a blue cheese, lobster tail, and Brussels sprouts. The crab cakes were good. Ribeye was a good medium rare. The lobster tail was way overcooked. They replaced the lobster and the new one tasted very good. Brussels sprouts were also good. The waiter was a little rude but I'm assuming it is because it was a very busy night. The bathroom was a mess and not clean. I'll come back on a regular night to avoid the madness. Fantastic service by Fredrick and others! Came here on a Monday at 6pm. Made reservations for our group of 7. Had some drinks a bar then headed to table. Place not too busy yet. All tables have an amazing view of ocean and Torrey Pines. Started off with the calamari and mushroom. Both were good. All of us had differing entrees (filet, pork chops, ribeye, tbone). Everything came out perfectly cooked and delicious. Those that got the ribeye, got to choose their knife from a box (that was cool). We of course had the Lobster Mac (and it was great as always). Brussel sprout were good and nicely cooked! Fredrick and other staff consistently checked in on us. After dinner, Fredrick even set up a photo op outside patio! That was so awesome of him. My family and I (7 adults and 3 children) dined here on May 28. Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing experience we have had at this restaurant. While most of the servers were courteous, service was inconsistent throughout the evening. We were attended by multiple servers, and several issues occurred during the meal. The Caesar salad was initially forgotten and later arrived with excessive dressing. An assistant server removed the calamari plate before we had finished it and attempted to clear my side plate while it still contained an untouched crab cake. For appetizers, we ordered the crab cakes and calamari. The crab cakes had good flavor, but I found multiple shell fragments while eating them. The calamari was rubbery. The chopped salad was enjoyable, but both Caesar salads were heavily dressed. There was approximately a one-hour wait between appetizers and entrées. Our table ordered six filets ranging from rare to medium. Two were overcooked, one contained a large piece of connective tissue, one arrived cool, and all were noticeably dry. Additional entrées included shrimp, ravioli, sea bass with vegetables, and a Caesar salad with chicken. The shrimp and sea bass arrived cold, the vegetables were undercooked, and the fries were cold and soggy. At the beginning of the meal, we were told the steaks would be served on 500-degree sizzling plates. However, none of the plates were warm enough to melt the table butter. During dinner, my wife was accidentally bumped several times by staff moving around the table, including once by a plate. Our bill was approximately $820 before any alcohol or additional desserts. Given the food quality, service issues, and overall experience, we left disappointed. Based on this visit, we are uncertain whether we will return. read more

Came on a week night for a group dinner. The first thing I noticed is the horriblr parking. It was jam packed and the spaces were small. They do, however, have a valet that costs $12. The valet lot was wide open. It seems so petty to have a lot not to be utilized by its patrons just so they can make a few bucks. Luckily the rest of the evening got better . The restaurant was beautiful. It was cozy on a rainy San Diego evening. The tables are a bit too close for my comfort. We sat in a private room which was equally cramped. We started the evening with ahi tuna. It was tender with a bit of a kick. It paired very well with the warm bread. The seasoning on the tuna would be overwhelming if not for the bread. The next course was the salad. The dressing on the house salad was a savory vinaigrette. It worked very well with the fresh field greens. I think if there were cucumbers in the salad to give a textural difference, it would be perfect. I ordered the salmon which was perfectly cooked with a moist buttery center. It was a bit under seasoned. The salmon was served with a creamy whipped garlic mash potato and a rich creamed spinach. I also had a taste of my friend's filet and that was also cook perfectly with a soft pink center. The steak was seasoned much better than the salmon. Afterall, it's a steak house. I've been here a bunch and it's really hit or miss on the service. The food is consistently good but I just don't get it with the servers. I dress well, wear my expensive watch, blah blah blah and get treated like a second class citizen from a server that looks down his nose at me. Tonight was the same, my server (I'm not going to call him out) would actually walk off during conversations about the menu and not return for 5-10 minutes. It was incredibly rude and unappreciated. Towards the end of this dinner, I found a large piece of plastic film in my cheesecake. I nearly choked on it. When I told the waiter, he again just walked off. We were here celebrating a friend's birthday. The restaurant had preprinted personalized menu for our party. Service was great, came by to check on us periodically. We went with the prefix meal with steak and lobster, plus soup or salad and one side, crowned off with a cheesecake dessert. What I appreciated is that I could go off menu and they did not charged an arm and a leg for the deviation. In my case, I went with the apple Cobbler and ice cream dessert and that was only an extra $5. Over all, had a wonderful celebration and would continue to return for any occasions. I never realized how large the place is with a secondary area for additional seating. The bread was fresh and butter delicious. We started with some drinks and split a Cesar. The Cesar was a Cesar but at least it was fresh. Shavings added some complexity. We both were torn but opted for what my go to is. And that is the filet medium rare. Cooked to perfection. Came out sizzling and honestly I could have cut it with my fork or a butter knife and not a steak knife because that is how tender it was. Wonderful service, food and drinks (by the way the happy hour whiskey sours were great!) were all experienced. Thank you to the restaurant and to Anthony for a very nice evening. This rating could be for service alone! The staff at this location is exceptional. They consistently check on you throughout your meal. The staff services your table constantly without you barely being able to notice because they are kind, fast, and efficient. While this fantastic service did take longer than we expected (over two hours for a dinner for two), we still had a wonderful night. We started out with the seared ahi tuna and the pomegranate martini and old fashioned. The ahi was perfect. Melt in your mouth fresh ahi with their house sauce that compliments the ahi well. Our drinks were fantastic as expected as well. I ordered the petite filet and my husband had the petite filet and shrimp toppled with their signature truffles. We absolutely loved our steaks and obviously they were cooked to perfection for each of us as always expected from Ruth Chris. The truffles included on my husband's filet brought the steak to heaven level. Absolutely spectacular and he still thinks about this meal to this day. We did order our sides as you do have to order them separately from your steak. I had the heavenly cremini mushrooms and my husband had the sweet potato casserole. The casserole can be ordered as dessert as it is quite sweet like its namesake suggests. The cremini mushrooms were absolutely delicious. I have no other notes but just order both! went on a Sunday evening for a limited menu group event. not really a steakhouse kinda guy so not uber comfortable assessing the experience's strengths and weaknesses. the CHARCUTERIE board was predictable. would have appreciated a more expansive cheese selection but, with cocktail in hand, a sound and steady way to start the evening. the appetizers, a SHRIMP COCKTAIL and am ARTICHOKE DIP were served family style and both were pretty average. the CAESAR SALAD was more standard steakhouse faire. the dressing tilted toward inoffensive -- basically borderline ranch. could have used butching up with more garlic, lemon, and fishies and less catering to the lowest common denominator. my RIBEYE was not particularly good, but the wife's NEW YORK STRIP was excellent. I tend to favor low-and-slow cuts (like oxtails and short ribs) but was actually impressed with this steak CHOCOLATE SIN was rich and decadent. I'm a starchy carb junkie and even though not a desert person, the BREAD PUDDING definitely hit my sweet spot both literally and figuratively. the muffin-tin serving portion makes for a nice presentation and am stealing that for my next dinner party. not a particularly imaginative menu but a solid dining experience. read more

I started with the garden salad, which while fresh, was nothing to brag about. The seared ahi tuna was also very mediocre at best and served with a side of bitter cucumbers. I figured the main course would shine. Unfortunately, my $46 "king salmon" was served largely unseasoned and nearly raw. The mashed potatoes and brocolli are very small portions and forgettable. The server (Rich) was curt and impatient -- just wanted to take orders and leave. I never saw him again to even order a drink or ask for my dish to be corrected. Asked a busboy for the check and boxed the salmon to go home, season, cook, and eat it. Dishes were never cleared from the table. Very sloppy. Ambiance feels very business-like. Not somewhere I'd recommend for a date. If I liked one thing about this restaurant, it's the outdoor fire pit. What a let down. Not the Ruth Chris experience I was expecting. read more

My wife has the salmon with shrimp and she likes the sauce that came with it. The French Onion is really good so as the Brussels sprouts. Our server, he is really nice and his helper they are pretty fast and attentive but the food came out a little slow, but it came pretty hot. The dining area looks really nice and they always have people replacing the table cloth really quick, last time I was here we ate at the upstairs which is pretty nice also.
