Hands down, the best brunch spot in Del Mar, CA! Amazing food and the outdoor dining area was awesome! The party of 9 was served by Wendy who did a phenomenal job of tending to such a large party. We sat outdoors under the shade and enjoyed the lovely trees with yellow flowers and matching butterflies! It was absolutely lovely and the food was amazing! I had the bacon, cheese and guacamole omelet and a chocolate pancake. DELISH! The service was stellar! Thanks Wendy and all of the food runners, for making our experience absolutely fantastic!
If you're looking for a lovely spot right by the beach with great coffee and massive portions, this is it. The food is definitely big enough to share. The service, however, left a lot to be desired. The servers weren't very nice or welcoming. To be fair, we went during the chaotic Mother's Day weekend, so they were incredibly busy, but it still put a bit of a damper on the experience. That being said, the place has a lot of heart. While eating, I overheard a woman talking about how the restaurant belongs to her dad and sharing the history behind it, which was a very touching and sweet story to hear. Overall, come for the views, the coffee, and the portions, just be prepared for potentially slow or brisk service if you go during a peak weekend!
Harry's is one of my favorite brunch spots in downtown Del Mar! The menu is full of great options, both sweet and savory! They feature a more old school diner-style menu (with a SoCal twist with Chilaquiles and breakfast burritos!) and I particularly enjoyed the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs, French Toast and Strawberry Pancakes! They also have a fun list of coffee drinks to enjoy! The service is generally speedy and nice. I have only sat in their outdoor sidewalk seating, which can get a bit too sunny on hot days, but overall a very cute ambiance that fits in well with Del Mar. And the location cannot be beat as it is within minutes of walking to Del Mar beach so it's perfect spot for a weekend morning brunch and beach walk! And they are very dog friendly!!
The chilaquiles are delicious! The chips are the perfect texture piled onto crispy hash browns and then topped with eggs your way and red onions, sour cream and scallions. The milk shake was delicious too! Old school like what you could get at a soda fountain in a drug store. Real ice cream blended into milk and topped with whipped cream. ( part of the cream was removed in the photo as I had given it to my dog- and he approved of it too! ) The service was excellent. It is a laid back atmosphere in the village of Del Mar. We ate outside as we had our dog with us. They even poached an egg for my dog that I added to his kibble. Harry's Coffee Shop is very dog friendly in both the La Jolla and Del Mar locations. I like the laid back atmosphere in Del Mar and will continue to be a patron there!
This will definitely be my go to breakfast spot whenever I'm in Del Mar, the food is delicious, from the pancakes to the homemade hot sauce and latte . The location is really the icing on the cake, it's a short walk to the beach, perfect to burn off calories and to take in the beauty of San Diego. Staff is friendly, prices and portions are decent . I highly recommend this place and can't think of anything to complain about.
I love that Harry's is now in Del Mar. I always frequented their La Jolla location. We were seated immediately and well waited on. The weather in Del Mar is appropriate for outdoor seating. You really feel the great oceanside ambiance. The food is very good, one of my favorites for brunch. Crispy hash browns. Great scrambles.
8/26/2025 - My first time visiting Del Mar and I stopped in Harry's for a little coffee and bite to eat. I sat inside for a little break from the sun. What a fantastic place and awesome service. I loved the oldies decor and classic diner atmosphere. As a treat, I ordered the affogato and my server gave me an extra scoop of ice cream on the house. So sweet! It was a late birthday gift to come to the beach with my bestie! We like to celebrate all month long! Haha. Sat at the bar area. The windows all around allow you to have a great view outside. After a few bites of the cinnamon roll, I headed back out for a walk and to check out a few shops nearby. So glad I tried the (huge) cinnamon roll from a local bakery. It was flaky and cinnamony- is that a word?! lol I definitely needed to walk off some of the sugar calories I'd just enjoyed. 1/13/2026 - I'm baaaack! I could not stay away from CA for a whole year. Haha. Yes, I visit my bestie when I can and wanted to come back. Got the French Toast this time and WOW! So good! It tasted as good as it looked! I also got myself another affogato. Those two espresso shots will keep me going all day long. Everything is so good. Amazing service again. Love the atmosphere, too. It's comfortable and welcoming - not at all pretentious as I have heard of the area. Fueling to for more walking on the beach. Go check them out! They're a staple of Del Mar!
Food: 9/10 Service: 8/10 Ambiance: 9/10 This brunch place is on the corner in front of Seagrove Park. It's a beautiful place with both indoor and outdoor seating. I was worried that the food wouldn't taste as well as their cute aesthetics but to me, it was great. I hate when brunch is salty but this brunch was perfect. Very nutritious, and I loved how they know what the people want. They KNOW we want sweet and savory, so to most of their savory menus, they have a side of pancakes, AND IT'S GOOD?
I've been reluctant to try Harry's here for two reasons: we loved the former restaurant at this location (Americana); we were not a fan of Harry's when we lived in La Jolla. Well the old vibe is still here! It was nice sitting down for lunch in the familiar surroundings in this historic building. For lunch, I had the The Ruben (5/5 $18.99), a closed corned beef sandwich on grilled rye bread with Swiss cheese, 1000 Island dressing, and sauerkraut. This is a classic New York City deli sandwich, and, as I told the manager, the best one I've had since moving to the West Coast 25 years ago! A nice house-made coleslaw (4/5) came with the sandwich, and I had a choice of French fries, onion rings or green salad to accompany my sandwich. I chose onion rings (4/5), which were very good. My beverage was black coffee (3/5), which had good flavor but was bitter. Service was good. Overall, I'm glad I broke down and gave Harry's a shot. I'll be back.
Love Harry's vintage cafe vibes with a classic breakfast. I've been to the La Jolla location so was excited to try this location. We were able to find parking close by. As soon as we walked up the hostess and waiter greeted us upon entering and were seated right away in the best booth. We ordered our favorites which were the cafe mocha, hot cocoa, and something new horchata latte. All were made to perfection. Our favorite dish by far is the corn beef hash ordered by someone in our party and I was taking bites thinking we should have ordered another one. I ordered my Benny which is a waffle and eggs Benedict, the patty melt was moist and flavorful. The only reason for the 4 star is the poached eggs were not runny. Other than that I would definitely come back to this location and Harry's as it is our favorite breakfast place in SD.

We walked in on a beautiful sunny Monday morning and it wasn't crowded. We felt like royalty. We got to take our time and figure out what table we wanted. There was fresh flowers on the tables. The staff was so kind and caring. My father-in-law got a complimentary birthday cinnamon roll even before we got our meal. I ordered the eggs Benedict because I wanted to try the hash-browns. They were perfectly hot and crispy. At the end of our brunch the owner was so sweet and gave my father-in-law a Harry's Coffee Shop ball cap. He was beaming. If you haven't tried Harry's, I highly recommend you do. You won't be disappointed. I'll be back!
We went for a walk along the railroad at Del Mar planning to get ice cream at An's Hatmakers, but it wasn't open at 11 so we decided to go to brunch instead. We tried walking to the Stratford Cafe but couldn't find a table and didn't want to order, pay, and be stranded, so we walked up to this place and thought we would give it a try. We loved the outdoor seating! We each ordered a waffle special and they were delicious. The service was great and we liked the coffee too, which we are both picky about. We will be back!
Cute brunch place with a retro vibe. The restaurant is situated on the corner of the street and somewhat narrow inside but it works. There's also outside seating as well. Friendly service. I ordered the corned beef hash which came with an over med egg. This also came with a perfect chewy pancake which was very good. This was a very filling meal. My daughter was happy with her tuna melt and fries .. she said it was delicious. And my friend ordered the chicken salad sandwich with onion rings. The sourdough on this sandwich was dry so she just ate the chicken salad inside . The onion rings were very good though. Simple American food that hits the spot.

I came here last Thursday around 11 AM. Street parking can be a little difficult, but I managed to find a spot just a few minutes' walk away. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. I chose to sit inside near the open windows overlooking the street, which was nice for people-watching. My server came over immediately to introduce herself and was beyond friendly and attentive throughout my visit. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with everything else. For starters, it was extremely hot inside. The windows were open, but there was absolutely no breeze, so it made dining pretty uncomfortable. I ordered: * Breakfast Burrito: This honestly has to be one of the worst breakfast burritos I've ever had. It was extremely dry and had absolutely no seasoning or flavor. The salsa served with it was way too spicy for me, so I asked for another dipping sauce. The chipotle sauce was much better and definitely helped. I was also disappointed that they used what tasted like processed/fake guacamole rather than fresh avocado. * Irish Coffee: This was actually really enjoyable! It came out at the perfect temperature and had a nice balance without being overly sweet. My friend ordered the Eggs Benedict and was also very unhappy with his meal. Overall, it's a cute spot and the service was great, but unfortunately the uncomfortable temperature and disappointing food really took away from the experience. I wanted to like it, but based on what we ordered, I wouldn't return. read more

Harry's Coffee Shop - Del Mar What a charming spot! This vintage corner restaurant has such a great vibe--cozy, classic, and full of character. Wendy was wonderful: friendly, attentive, and refreshingly honest. When I asked if the corned beef hash was homemade, she didn't hesitate to say no, which I really appreciated. That kind of straightforward service goes a long way. I switched to the avocado toast with feta, diced tomatoes, and a side salad. The toast itself with sunny-side-up eggs was perfect--fresh, flavorful, and just right. The salad dressing wasn't my favorite, so next time I'll simply ask to leave the salad off. Easy fix. My husband ordered the BW Benny and absolutely loved it. He cleaned the plate, which is always the best endorsement. We also shared a cappuccino that was excellent--smooth and well-made. Overall, a solid breakfast experience with great service and a lovely atmosphere. We'll be back! read more

Had a decent lunch here. Im only knocking stars for two reasons. The fries were absolutely horrible and our server didn't offer anything in return for them. I mentioned to him about the very bad taste, and he said thats because they only have one fryer and do everything in it. He didn't offer to substitute either of our fry orders for anything else, and when the check came there were no discounts. He saw that both orders were untouched and left on both of our plates. Stopped here for breakfast while visiting the area. Started with a bloody mary. I ordered the French toast, my daughter ordered the biscuits and gravy, a side of bacon. Both were very good. Service was fast and friendly. Casual atmosphere. A little pricey but I would recommend. read more
I came by this spot for a quick breakfast while working and it is definitely a busy little spot. I have been a handful of times and I notice that it takes a little bit for someone to come over and get you a table so I always feel a little odd to be standing there with no one coming up to greet you. I decided to go for the BW Benny and honestly it was just alright I didn't fully get the hype of it and I love a benny. I also got a side of hashbrowns which honestly is the reason I go there because they are some of the best hashbrowns I have had. There is a small inside area to sit at and outside seating in front of the restaurant. I have been to both locations and I will say I enjoy the La Jolla location more but I tend to be in Del Mar more and feel like this is a good brunch spot during the week since not many spots around here have breakfast or brunch during the week. read more

My husband and I always love to explore new places. This restaurant nailed the food; it was very tasty and fresh. I totally recommend this restaurant. The ambience was great, but the waiter was just OK. Overall, I will give it five stars, and I would definitely try this restaurant again. read more

Used to bail out of first period and come here in high school - 40 years ago - I don't live down here anymore - down for a few weeks and thought I should give it another try - still pretty good, though I think the syrup was better back in 1985 - the waitress was hard to catch to pay - but it was fun to eat here again and see the old pictures and reminisce read more

This a wonderful spot for breakfast and lunch! We opted for lunch and I had an awesome Iced Latte and we shared a Reuben sandwich and a Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich . Both tasted wonderful. The turkey in the sandwich looked like it was taken and put on the grill top for a little sear to it and that for some reason really made it stand out more so than other turkey sandwiches I've had. The Reuben was spectacular! Both came with Cole slaw and seasoned fries. I will say that the fries had a corn tortilla taste to them that wasn't expected that I did not care for. I think they either needed to change the oil or possibly they fry many different things in the same oil. Other than that it was awesome as well as the service which was awesome. Harry's new location in Del Mar has a cute but modern diner aesthetic. We were able to get a reservation for a Saturday morning for a group of 8 which I very much appreciated. The cappuccino was smooth and bold. There were gluten free bread options for the French toast and sandwiches. The food was delicious and our server Gerry was friendly and attentive. The prices were high for breakfast food relative to some of the portion sizes but not unexpected given the Del Mar location. read more

I ate here once ten years and had the green eggs and ham. It was so good i decided to go back after ten years on my latest visit to Del Mar. And im so glad i did. I had the supreme omlette and it was incredible. They must have used three or four eggs. It was made on a griddle instead of a pan as it was so neaty folded over with several layers as only can be done on a gridle. The hash browns were nice and crunchy. And the coffee was wonderful. I wanted to go back for dinner but sadly they sre only open for dinner in the summer. I will definitely return on my next visit. read more

I came here twice for breakfast during my work trip. The service was great (I had the same guy both times and he was friendly and engaging with guests). On my first visit, I sat outside and had one of the egg white scrambles. On my second visit, I had the green eggs and ham. Both visits I had coffee and sourdough toast. I highly recommend this spot! Absolutely, yes. Ask for “Silver Dollar” pancakes, a very old school menu item at Harry’s. Long ago, there were two options on the menu for 12 or 6 Silver Dollar pancakes. You rekindled a great idea, thank you.
