We visited for Mother's Day brunch and overall had a good experience. The staff was welcoming and the service was attentive. The food was good, and the atmosphere made it a pleasant place to celebrate the occasion. Nothing over the top, but definitely an enjoyable experience overall.

Amazing food however took way too long. Restaurant was clearly understaffed and overbooked due to poor management. I felt so bad for our server who was clearly trying his best. However due to poor management he was swamped. Also not a fan of the live music that they play, it's not tasteful.

I've never heard of this restaurant so I was excited to try it in this part of town. The restaurant has some touches of Easter throughout, which was tasteful and not gaudy. What I had - Caymus 50th Anniversary 2022 Cab - Amazing rich bodied cab. Truffle Popcorn - Only available at the bar. Nice and crunchy but I couldn't really taste the truffle. Baked Brie came with crusty bread and it was good because it was gooey and spreadable. Parmesan Brussel Sprouts - Perfectly crisp with bacon and balsamic. Calamari - Liked that the calamari came in dippable strips. Sauce was okay for me. Mussels & Clams - This actually had a good amount of meat within the shells. I always wish that more bread is provided to help sop up the broth. Catch of the Day was Halibut on top of Butternut Squash I was getting pretty full by this dish and it was just okay for me and I was expecting more. For desserts, we had bread pudding, affogato, & crème brûlée. So much food I only got to taste a bit. For the price point and the area, I was expecting more, like a food item that would blow it out of the water. However, the food was good but not great. Therefore, this place is a solid 3.5 stars for me.

Forgot my rose bc I was distracted by this delicious this filet and wine pairing ((that took me out).

We had a wonderful dinner last night for Valentine's Day! Despite how busy the evening can be, everything was handled seamlessly. We adored Melissa, our server, she was attentive and made the experience and meal enjoyable. The Maitre d' also ensured that service flowed smoothly and that we were well taken care of from start to finish. We both chose the tasting menu, and I added the wine pairing. Each course was beautifully prepared, and the wine selections were outstanding--thoughtfully curated and perfectly complementary. The osetra caviar with potato, lobster bisque, pasta course, and filet were all cooked to perfection and truly memorable. Even the salad was delicious! I'm not typically a dessert person, but I thoroughly enjoyed the crème brûlée--it was absolutely delicious. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience with exceptional food, wine, and service. The decor was also well balanced. Thank you--we look forward to returning! This might just be our anniversary spot!

My family has lived in Rancho Santa Fe for over a decade so we have seen all the tenants of this space. Prior to Nick & G's it was Delicias, which was a bit more homely, but Nick & G's does specialize in steak so it really is a nice change. This part of town is very sleepy and easy to find parking and it's never too crowded or too noisy. It is casual dining, but I think business casual would be most appropriate. Our server was very polite and we were able to be seated right when we arrived for a 6 PM dinner. I have been to Nick & G's a few times so I mix it up each time I visit but this most recent stop in I chose to start with the French Onion Soup, which was quite small but very good. For my entrée I chose the Filet Mignon which I did enjoy although I wish it would not have had as much demiglaze and spinach on top. I felt that it took away from the steak flavor. I really wanted to try the White Chocolate Bread Pudding for dessert but I was too full at the end of the meal so I plan to try it in the near future. Overall, I really love this part of town and it's very close to where my family lives so it's extremely convenient for us, but I would recommend to anyone looking for a great date spot or place to have dinner with friends or family.

The decor alone sets expectations that you're about to have a Proper Dinner™. The food absolutely held up. I ordered a decently sized steak and it was genuinely delicious. Well cooked, flavorful, and satisfying. The menu leans into classic, Italian-leaning comfort food, and it does that lane well. The owner was present during our visit and was very kind and welcoming, which deserves real kudos. The staff was also attentive and on top of things throughout the meal. Service was not an issue at all. Where this stops short of five stars for me is the indoor dining experience. Even with a reservation, the seating felt very tight. Close enough that I could hear every single detail of the conversation happening at the table next to us. No judgment on them, but I did not need to be spiritually invited into their dinner party. Because it was a cool evening, outdoor seating wasn't really an option, which made the cramped indoor space more noticeable. This might be something to keep in mind during colder months. I could see this place being much more enjoyable when the patio is in play. That said, I did enjoy myself, and I'm not disappointed. I just think the combination of price point, cozy-but-tight seating, and comfort-food-forward menu didn't quite push it into five-star territory for me. And to be fair, I'm generally stingy with five stars. Four stars feels right. Beautiful space, kind ownership, attentive staff, and good food. Just go in with calibrated expectations and a tolerance for close quarters.

Valet parking is complimentary, and there isn't any self-parking. When I checked in with the hostess, she gave me the option of sitting in the front outdoor patio or the back patio. I chose the back, and I'm so glad I did because the view is absolutely beautiful. I also had my dog with me, and they were incredibly dog friendly. They brought her a dog bed and a surprisingly extensive dog menu with some really great options. We ordered: *Lobster Tacos : Three generously filled tacos served with salsa and guacamole. They were absolutely delicious and loaded with lobster, topped with fresh avocado. *Rancho Burger: Easily one of the best burgers I've had. It was cooked perfectly, and we added Swiss cheese. They even cut it in half for my friend and me to share. The fries were fantastic too, crispy and somewhere between steak fries and thin-cut fries. *Shepherd's Pie (Dog Menu) : The menu listed it with beef, but they accidentally brought out the chicken version. Since my dog is allergic to chicken, they immediately apologized, took it back, and made a fresh beef version. The customer service was excellent, and my dog absolutely devoured it. The portion was generous, and it looked fresh enough for a human to eat. The service was phenomenal from start to finish. Our food arrived in less than 20 minutes, the views were stunning, and the menu had so many tempting options that I'll definitely be back to try more. Their food quality is also very good. Of the several times we've been, we've struggled with food temperature not being warm enough about half the time. Servers are kind, but can be inconsistent. Again I would say half of our visits we've felt forgotten. My biggest irritation was during our latest visit, in which families with children were seated next to us not once, but twice. This was disturbing because on the booth side of the table where my mom and I sat, we felt the movement of squirmy children from the table next to us. Highly recommend more attention to table selection by the host staff. Given the classiness of this place, I find it silly that I'd have to go out of my way to ask for hot food and to be seated only around adults. We will be taking The Pony Room out of our rotation for a while.
