We visited for Mother's Day brunch and overall had a good experience. The staff was welcoming and the service was attentive. The food was good, and the atmosphere made it a pleasant place to celebrate the occasion. Nothing over the top, but definitely an enjoyable experience overall.

Amazing food however took way too long. Restaurant was clearly understaffed and overbooked due to poor management. I felt so bad for our server who was clearly trying his best. However due to poor management he was swamped. Also not a fan of the live music that they play, it's not tasteful.

I've never heard of this restaurant so I was excited to try it in this part of town. The restaurant has some touches of Easter throughout, which was tasteful and not gaudy. What I had - Caymus 50th Anniversary 2022 Cab - Amazing rich bodied cab. Truffle Popcorn - Only available at the bar. Nice and crunchy but I couldn't really taste the truffle. Baked Brie came with crusty bread and it was good because it was gooey and spreadable. Parmesan Brussel Sprouts - Perfectly crisp with bacon and balsamic. Calamari - Liked that the calamari came in dippable strips. Sauce was okay for me. Mussels & Clams - This actually had a good amount of meat within the shells. I always wish that more bread is provided to help sop up the broth. Catch of the Day was Halibut on top of Butternut Squash I was getting pretty full by this dish and it was just okay for me and I was expecting more. For desserts, we had bread pudding, affogato, & crème brûlée. So much food I only got to taste a bit. For the price point and the area, I was expecting more, like a food item that would blow it out of the water. However, the food was good but not great. Therefore, this place is a solid 3.5 stars for me.

My family has lived in Rancho Santa Fe for over a decade so we have seen all the tenants of this space. Prior to Nick & G's it was Delicias, which was a bit more homely, but Nick & G's does specialize in steak so it really is a nice change. This part of town is very sleepy and easy to find parking and it's never too crowded or too noisy. It is casual dining, but I think business casual would be most appropriate. Our server was very polite and we were able to be seated right when we arrived for a 6 PM dinner. I have been to Nick & G's a few times so I mix it up each time I visit but this most recent stop in I chose to start with the French Onion Soup, which was quite small but very good. For my entrée I chose the Filet Mignon which I did enjoy although I wish it would not have had as much demiglaze and spinach on top. I felt that it took away from the steak flavor. I really wanted to try the White Chocolate Bread Pudding for dessert but I was too full at the end of the meal so I plan to try it in the near future. Overall, I really love this part of town and it's very close to where my family lives so it's extremely convenient for us, but I would recommend to anyone looking for a great date spot or place to have dinner with friends or family.

The decor alone sets expectations that you're about to have a Proper Dinner™. The food absolutely held up. I ordered a decently sized steak and it was genuinely delicious. Well cooked, flavorful, and satisfying. The menu leans into classic, Italian-leaning comfort food, and it does that lane well. The owner was present during our visit and was very kind and welcoming, which deserves real kudos. The staff was also attentive and on top of things throughout the meal. Service was not an issue at all. Where this stops short of five stars for me is the indoor dining experience. Even with a reservation, the seating felt very tight. Close enough that I could hear every single detail of the conversation happening at the table next to us. No judgment on them, but I did not need to be spiritually invited into their dinner party. Because it was a cool evening, outdoor seating wasn't really an option, which made the cramped indoor space more noticeable. This might be something to keep in mind during colder months. I could see this place being much more enjoyable when the patio is in play. That said, I did enjoy myself, and I'm not disappointed. I just think the combination of price point, cozy-but-tight seating, and comfort-food-forward menu didn't quite push it into five-star territory for me. And to be fair, I'm generally stingy with five stars. Four stars feels right. Beautiful space, kind ownership, attentive staff, and good food. Just go in with calibrated expectations and a tolerance for close quarters.

Some of the steak was extremely chewy as well. My friend said the hot honey chicken sandwich was good but there was a lot going on. I did take a bite of the molten butter cake while it was hot and fresh (I ordered it to-go) and the caramel really elevated the cake. Five stars for ambiance and service. They were absolutely delicious and loaded with lobster, topped with fresh avocado. *Rancho Burger: Easily one of the best burgers I've had. It was cooked perfectly, and we added Swiss cheese. They even cut it in half for my friend and me to share. The fries were fantastic too, crispy and somewhere between steak fries and thin-cut fries. *Shepherd's Pie (Dog Menu) : The menu listed it with beef, but they accidentally brought out the chicken version. Since my dog is allergic to chicken, they immediately apologized, took it back, and made a fresh beef version. The customer service was excellent, and my dog absolutely devoured it. The Spicy Rigatoni Alla Vodka was certainly spicy, but beyond the heat it was surprisingly bland and short on flavor. Dessert - the Samoa Sundae, along with the complimentary cookies (which were a nice touch) - was the standout of the evening and genuinely excellent. We regularly dine at Michelin-starred and other fine dining restaurants, so we're more than happy to pay premium prices when the quality warrants it. Here, however, the value simply wasn't there. Charging around $40 for a basic pasta dish and $15 for simple sides like fries sets a reasonably high bar, and unfortunately the food didn't live up to those expectations. Service was friendly and attentive overall, although there were a few noticeable missteps, including dishes being served to the wrong guests and water being poured while we were in the middle of settling the bill. -- Breakfast Breakfast the following morning reinforced our overall impression. Coffee was served from an automated bean-to-cup machine rather than being freshly prepared, which felt out of place for a restaurant at this price point. We also weren't offered sugar with our coffee and had to wait until we could flag someone down. We noticed the café just a few meters away was preparing barista-made coffee and matcha drinks, but when we asked, our server wouldn't offer them from the restaurant. We then overheard her telling another table that they would need to walk over to the café to order them separately, and that these premium drinks weren't included in the complimentary hotel breakfast. The food itself was equally disappointing. The eggs were overcooked - hard, rubbery, and lacking much flavor. The deconstructed salmon bagel was an odd choice. At $28, we expected a thoughtfully composed dish, not one that required us to assemble it ourselves. It felt more like an unnecessary gimmick than an elevated presentation. The pancakes were fine, albeit slightly raw in the middle. My father is vegan and, after noticing that the only breakfast entrée suitable for his diet was the Avocado Toast, I emailed the hotel in advance to ask whether any additional options could be prepared during our three-night stay, so he wouldn't have to eat the same dish every morning. Two days later, I received a reply that essentially reiterated what was already on the menu and said my comments would be passed along to the restaurant team. Unfortunately, I never received any further communication from the restaurant team, and his dietary requirements were not acknowledged in any way during breakfast. For a hotel and restaurant positioned at this level, that was particularly disappointing. Service also slipped at the end of the meal. Once we had finished eating, our server disappeared entirely. After waiting for some time, we eventually had to go inside the restaurant to find someone so we could ask for the check, only for that employee to then head to the back to locate our server. -- Overall, both meals were adequate, but neither came close to justifying the restaurant's reputation or pricing. During our three-night stay at the hotel, we chose to dine elsewhere after our first dinner and breakfast, and left feeling that there are far better dining options available.

The manager, Andrea, along with Tara, took amazing care of me and my friends. They were attentive without being overbearing, super friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcome the whole time, which is something you don't always get. I ordered an Aperol Spritz, (if you ever ordered, please get it with campari. we also got a margarita, both were perfectly made. The spritz was refreshing and well-balanced, and the margarita was just as good, not too sweet and really smooth. Definitely a great start to the night. The food was just as impressive. Everything came out surprisingly fast, especially considering how good it was. You can tell there's real attention to quality and flavor. The ambiance is another highlight. It has this relaxed, chill vibe but still feels put together and a little bit "cute" in the best way. It's the kind of place that works perfectly whether you're going on a date, catching up with friends, or just want a nice casual dinner without it feeling basic. Overall, great service, delicious food, quick turnaround, and a really enjoyable atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back

I had to remind the waitress I hadn't gotten my drink and had to ask for the check at the end. The food was just okay. I got the Hot Chick chicken sandwich and my friend got the classic burger and we split them. Neither had much flavor, which really surprised me with the chicken sandwich as it's supposed to be Cajun spiced. We both paid the extra $4 to change the fries to truffle fries. That had the most flavor of anything.
