I'm leaving this review to bring awareness to the need for better training for host staff, especially since they are the first point of interaction and can make or break the entire customer experience. No shade, but Ruth's Chris is like the Chick-fil-A of steakhouse; consistent, but not my go-to for fine dining. That said, I've been dining here for over a decade, and the food has always been consistent. The stuffed chicken and calamari are still favorites of mine. I do respect the effort to enforce a dress code in the dining area. However, it must be applied fairly and consistently not in a way that feels selective or discriminatory. Upon arrival, my party and I made sure we were dressed according to policy and even had the dress code on hand. When it was time to be seated, the hostess, Nicole, without much engagement, seated us at a high-top table near the bar. When we asked why, she stated, "We have a strict policy on athletic wear." This immediately caused confusion, as neither of us was wearing athletic wear. I was dressed in a custom Daniel's Leather, Fox Fur Trim Leather coat, leather leggings, designer sneakers, and a dressy off-the-shoulder sweater. My friend wore black jeans, a dressy off-the-shoulder top, and designer sneakers. We were both taken aback, as nothing about our outfits aligned with athletic wear. We asked to speak with a manager for clarification. The supervisor (whose name I unfortunately didn't catch, possibly Melissa) was professional, understanding, and immediately clarified that leggings were not an issue and that our attire was appropriate. She was apologetic and even checked on us again during dinner, which was appreciated. However, when returning to the front with the manager so we could be reseated properly, Nicole remained unprofessional. She was neither apologetic nor interested in addressing the situation in a respectful or human way. What made the situation more concerning was that while seated, I observed several other guest all Caucasian who were clearly underdressed seated without issue. This included individuals in tracksuits (which are definitively athletic wear),regular running sneakers, ripped jeans, graphic T-shirts, (one with Michael Myers on it and bold white letters saying "Party Crasher" also two ladies with standard leggings that were far more casual than what I was wearing. Aside from this experience, everything else was great. Our waitress, Aya, was phenomenal especially for someone new. She was knowledgeable about the menu, kind, and attentive throughout the evening. Even offered add-ons, yet not being pushy upselling which myself having experience in customer service she was great employee. The food, as always, was consistent, and the manager handled the situation professionally. Unfortunately, the experience with the hostess left a lasting negative impression. It's disappointing, because as the first point of contact, that interaction sets the tone for the entire evening--and in this case, it was handled in a way that felt distasteful, unfair and blatantly discriminatory. read more

I attended the Caymus Wine Dinner (see photo of menu below) on October 9 at Ruth's Chris, and it was a satisfying experience. The Maître d' was gracious and led us to a private dining area set up beautifully for the event. The Lump Crab Bisque was rich and full of fresh crab, the Applewood Smoked Pork Belly was nicely presented, and the Center-Cut Filet with rosemary-charred mushrooms was incredibly tender. The table received family-style sides of Creamed Spinach au Gratin, which was a bit too cheesy for my taste, and Truffle & Bacon Twice-Baked Potatoes, which were just okay. Dessert was a Dark Chocolate Crème Brûlée -- flavorful but a little greasy. The Cabernet Sauvignon was my favorite wine -- spicy, dark chocolatey, and fruity. My least favorite was the Sauvignon Blanc, which tasted rather watered down. The Caymus representative gave an engaging presentation, but the pours were average, and there were no refills. The evening felt fairly-organized and enjoyable, and I'd consider attending another TasteMaker dinner if they increase their pour size and provide refills! read more

Excellent service...2-team service so you are always taken care of with constant attention. Attention to details for the way food is served is on the top of their list. Aside from the appetizers (ravioli, ahi tuna, crab cakes, and calamari) which were great, the hot plates you're given to put our main courses top the list. Attended the Prisoner Wine event on 3/26/26. I really enjoyed the scallop with a spicy corn salsa. My med rare filet was overcooked, but it was very good with the espresso butter crust. Next time, I will order it rare as it keeps cooking on the sizzling plate. The mushroom ragout was average. The wines were great and the service was good. I visited this restaurant with my family last night to celebrate my father's 70th birthday. I was blown away by the wonderful service and experience. Our server Jasaley was amazing. She was very patient and provided excellent customer service. It was a party of 8 and everyone enjoyed their meal. For appetizers we ordered the Calamari and Spicy Shrimp. They were very tasty. I ordered a Pomegranate Martini which was exceptional. For my entree, I ordered a Ribeye steak which was a part of a special that came with a steak house salad, side of garlic mashed potatoes and cheesecake for dessert. Everything was so delicious. The steak well prepared, juicy and flavorful. The restaurant was very beautiful and fancy. I really enjoyed the establishment and my family and I will definitely return. Yummy! I made a reservation for 2, they give you a 15 minute grace period. They give you complimentary bread. We started off with the crab stuffed mushrooms, it was so so good, definitely worth it. I was excited to finally make it to Ruth's Chris Steak House. I made reservations online for a party of three to celebrate a special person's recent 70th birthday. It was good to learn that Ruth's Chris gives 15 minutes grace period for dinner reservation guests, just in case something arises. We were seated within five minutes after arriving on time for our reservation. Our table was decorated with birthday confetti for the birthday gal which was very nice and she loved it. Our servers Belinda and Stanley were amazing and made sure that we were good the entire time. The food, oh my goodness, I think I've found a new love. The stuffed chicken breast with garlic herb chicken with lemon butter was so delicious and flavorful. I ordered garlic mashed potatoes which was great. My friend ordered the creamed spinach and sweet potato casserole as her sides. I was able to try them and they were really good. The sweet potato casserole was so good that I ordered one to go. Upon entering Ruth Chris, you can just see the elegance, it looks so beautiful inside the restaurant. They had soft lighting and mini spots for photo opportunities. This lovely French beauty our hostess Nakita was so nice and helpful as she let us know what the specials of the day were. Let get into the food ... delicious! We ordered the appetizers at the same time we ordered the main entrées. The appetizers came out fast and hot and a short time after the entrees came out. Steak came out sizzling and my salmon and shrimp plate was over 500° loved every minute of it. My favorite part or the night was my sugar rim Lemon Drop that bad boy was cultivated so nicely had me feeling the vibe. Came here for my father-in-law's birthday dinner. It was a Tuesday evening and without a reservation, we only waited ~20 min. I prefer to go to steakhouses in Manhattan/Brooklyn that aren't chains, but my in-laws are closer to LI so we went here. The prices are regular steakhouse prices but the food doesn't give the "wow" factor. To start, we tried the French Onion Soup, Caesar Salad, and Veal Osso Bucco Ravioli. The soup didn't have the char on the cheese on top, but was tasty. Caesar salad was solid - can you ever mess those up? The ravioli was delicious (came with 5 pieces). We also got bread and butter for the table, a steakhouse staple which came warm and delicious. For mains, the 5 of us shared a Porterhouse (medium rare), and a Ribeye (medium rare), with spinach dip & potatoes au gratin for sides. Our waiter did say the steaks would come on a sizzling plate. Unfortunately the steak came cooked medium in most pieces... the meat around the bone in the porterhouse was medium rare but it was an uneven cook. The steak was not seared and it was lacking flavor (i.e. salt). Same with the rib eye. I honestly think I could've made a better steak at home. The sides were good though, but the potatoes au grautin was pretty oily and cubed versus layered slices. Our waiter was nice and checked on us often, and gave us a complimentary dessert for the birthday occasion. If you are looking for an amazing steakhouse experience, I'd probably look elsewhere. I've heard such great things about Ruth Chris, but we just did not experience that with the food (mainly the steaks which is what we came for!) not sure if it was an off night or what. read more

We reluctantly went to CR with a group. We haven't chosen to dine there after several bad experiences years ago. Our service by David was great !! Wedge salad was good. All meats were very good. My wife had the Chilean Sea Bass it was spoiled didn't eat it. Side were disgusting ! Mashed potatoes didn't have much taste and texture was like powdered product. We had a Mother's Day brunch reservation here that unfortunately turned into one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I've had. We arrived early and were seated as the first guests in the restaurant. Despite that, we were initially given the wrong menus and had to ask multiple times before receiving the correct brunch menu. Throughout the meal, service felt disorganized and slow for such a quiet dining room. At one point, management approached our table about my daughter briefly using speakerphone. The way it was handled felt very public and unnecessary given how empty the restaurant was, and it changed the tone of the entire experience. After that interaction, I asked for the check and to-go boxes so we could leave. There were delays in bringing both, and I had to follow up more than once while trying to end the meal. I also asked for corporate contact information so I could share feedback and was told to look it up myself rather than being provided any direction. The manager then asked us to leave and gave my 70+year old mother the middle finger as she followed us on the way out. What was meant to be a special Mother's Day brunch ended up feeling stressful and disappointing, especially given the expectations for this type of restaurant. Steak House Salad: The salad was unremarkable with just baby lettuce, grape tomatoes, and a couple croutons. The ambiance of the restaurant was very simple and elegant. The lighting was perfect for a romantic date night. I especially love the table setup. It was super cute. The service was amazing. Our waitress constantly came to make sure that we were doing okay. She was super friendly and helpful when it came to questions about the dessert replacements. Needed my Ruth Chris Steak fix, its been 1 year since i've had it, so it was long over due! Made a reservation last week since I knew i was going to be in the area for the Van Gogh exhibition, came here right after. My 1st waiter was very meh and his drink sucked. Eww, had to send it back. Then Alvin @ the bar hooked me up and saved the day! He made me a mean Cosmo! It was perfect! He also checked on me periodically to make sure I was good, my table was right across from the bar. My entree (Cowboy Ribeye) was bomb as usual! Came out sizzling hot and medium well like I ordered it! Absolutely delicious! Didn't order appetizers as I was not in the mood for salad and every other item had shellfish in it, which I cannot eat. Hopefully they'll add the French Onion soup back to the App menu at some point. For Dessert Alvin recommended the banana pudding and the cheesecake, so I went with the cheesecake and it hit the spot. I have been to Ruth's Chris Steak Houses all over the country. This location, by far, was the worst. No air conditioning on Father's Day. Then the fire alarm went off. The food was okay but the ambiance was horrible because of all of the hullabaloo. They didn't offer us anything for our horrible experience. Just a half-hearted apology. On July 17th@aprox. 5:50 pm my family & I arrived for our reservation for my son's birthday. When it was time to be seated we were whisked over to the booths. I said, "We do not want to sit at a booth". I was told by the seater/greeter. "We have a strict rule about athletic wear & sweat pants in the main dining room at dinner time." I retorted, "no one in my party has on athletic wear or sweat pants! You might see guests in everything from jeans and a nice top to a cocktail dress or suit and tie. We want everyone to feel comfortable, so whether you want to dress up or keep it casual, you'll fit right in at Ruth's Chris. In an effort to maintain a family-friendly environment, we kindly ask guests to refrain from wearing clothing with offensive graphics or language. Additionally, exposed undergarments, cut-off shorts, and tank tops are not considered appropriate attire. If you're sporting a hat or a team support jersey, we welcome you to wear them in our bar and outdoor areas. However, we do request that guests remove their hats upon entering other dining areas. The greeter/server said oh, I let me see what I can do. BTW, she did not wear glasses nor sport a cane and the lighting although dim it was lit enough to confirm our attire. So, she could see clearly we were "dressed" for the occasion. It's my assumption that she only saw our faces because the dad prior to us (who was white) with his two young children was quickly escorted to his table despite the fact that they appeared to dressed as if he was taking his boys to the local McDonalds. She apologized and quickly brought us into the main dining room. As we walked to the table She asked me what we had planned for the rest of the birthday evening? I politely said, "I am not here for the small talk , just take me to our table the initial interaction that we had was quite disparaging" she obliged sat us down, turned red and walked away. We have been to this location several times ( the manager always comes over, says hello & checks in ) the food was amazing & the service is always epic. I noticed the female manager lingering in the dining area checking on other patrons but never made it over to us. Again, the food & service was amazing! Last night my family of eight and I went to Ruth's Chris to celebrate my brother's birthday, and the experience was honestly disappointing from start to finish. Our server, David, had a passive-aggressive attitude and came off very impolite. I've been to plenty of steakhouses across NYC, and his service and mannerisms were far below what you'd expect at a place like this. He crossed in front of us without saying "excuse me," reached between people who were talking, and just didn't carry himself with any professionalism. When passing out utensils, he gave everyone theirs except me -- and when he realized it, instead of politely handing me one, he just plopped a bunch of forks down right in front of me. Later, when dropping off the bill, he silently placed it between my grandfather and father without saying a word. Things got worse. When he was bringing out the hot entrées, he held the plates so close to my family members' heads that it made everyone uncomfortable. Then, while my stepfather was holding my 8-month-old daughter, he set down a cup of hot coffee right within her reach. It just felt careless and disrespectful. The real icing on the cake happened when I went to the bathroom with my grandmother. As we were walking, I overheard one of the staff members (a white male waiter) say to his coworker, "I can't take these ghetto trash." His coworker replied, "Omg, what happened?" I stopped and looked right at them multiple times to make sure they knew I heard, and they didn't even flinch or acknowledge me. I was disgusted. When I came out of the bathroom, the hostess by the hallway said, "Have a good night," but I was so upset I couldn't even respond. As I was walking back to my table, I saw David standing at the kiosk near the bathroom -- he looked right at me, said nothing, and I did the same. When I got back to the table, my mom told me that he had come by, grabbed the check, and left -- again, no thank you, no goodbye, nothing. I've been coming to Ruth's Chris since 2011 and always loved their stuffed chicken, but even that wasn't as good as it used to be. Between the food, the service, and the disgusting comment I overheard, it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. I thought long and hard before I put this rate of experience. I visited the Ruth Chris in Roosevelt Mall location on June 6th. My wife ordered the New York Strip and I ordered the cowboy ribeye. The New York strip was cooked to my wife's liking but the ribeye was a little overcooked. When I asked the server, he brought the steak back and then a lady who appeared like the manager brought the meat back and she had cut the meat in 4-5 different pieces. She told me that the meat was cooked right (medium rare)(it wasn't) and she told me she would ask the kitchen to make me a new one if I asked, that's when I just gave up and told her that I would just eat the meat that was cut in pieces. The meat was all dry, cold and tough because it was cut in pieces. I have been to Ruth Chris in the past and I never had this kind of experience. I don't think that I will go back to that location ever again even if it means driving another 30-40 minutes to eat in different Ruth Chris. read more

Tonight we had a 6pm reservation at the Garden City location. if I saw the waiter a lot it was twice...we asked for a second round of drinks, they bought 2 alcoholic beverages came in 15 minutes and then I had to remind them for 2 sodas which came 20 minutes later. Food was ok, my customer who I took there for his birthday had steak, and he asked for steak sauce...yeh that arrived 20 minutes later also...we asked for a dessert menu, it never arrived I said screw this paid our bill and left. Everything went well at our dinner. There were six of us. One person ordered the chicken and Saint was delicious. The rest of us ordered the filet mignon and the rib eye.
