This was our first Easter dinning out. We went to Ruth's Chris. It was our first time there. It was very beautiful on the inside and the greeter was pleasant. Our server brought us water and I asked for a cocktail. The first cocktail was a strawberry lemon drop, unfortunately, I retuned because at first taste, it was all juice. I did express to our waitress and she promptly switched it out for another. I was thankful for how nice she was about it. My husband ordered steak(not pictured) it tasted heavenly!!!! I've got to admit, I really thought Ruth's Chris had fallen off... but they proved me wrong. They've definitely stepped their game back up. I sat at the bar (as always), grabbed my unsweetened tea, and started with the calamari--amazing. We ordered the baked chicken and a medium steak, and both hit. The sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, lobster, and creamed spinach were all top notch. We watched the Ravens game while we ate, and the vibe was classy and chill the whole night. And let me say this--the carrot cake is good. I don't even like carrot cake, and I was impressed. My wife and I have been to Ruth's Chris a couple of times before and have been never really been that impressed until this evening when the manager Greg went above and beyond to make our anniversary one of the best ever! He stopped by our table initially to recommend the veal ravioli which I typically would have never ordered and I will say it was the best ravioli my wife and I have ever had. He also stopped by and made sure all of our food came out at the perfect temperature and was super welcoming and made us feel like family. On 3/5/22 we decided to utilize our gift card and dine here for date night. The parking lot was nearly full, but we were able to find a spot not too far from the entrance. We walked to entrance and was immediately greeted, and the gentleman held the open for us. The foyer is not that big, but it seems guests like to crowd around, making it hard to either enter or leave. But, after having to excuse ourselves more than once, we were able to enter and check in at the host/hostess stand. Hubby made the reservation for 8:15p, and we arrived about close to 8 pm to check in. We were advised that it would be a minute while they prepared our table. We stepped to the side and waited. We did take note of the Easter brunch being advertised on the screen, as well as other events. Eventually, we were called and escorted to our table, which was not ready in any way. The table was not even cleared. The hostess then sat us in the same area, but she did ask if we wanted to wait in the foyer while they fixed the area. We decided to sit and wait for the servers to prep the table. A server came with the plates and glasses and began to set the table, and as he set up the glasses and plates, I had to draw their attention that both the plates were unclean. So, the server took the dirty dishes away. I noticed a man in a suit who appeared to be clearing off our original table. I asked if he was the manager, and I asked him if he could take the wine glass as well since it had a small piece of food particle on it to be replaced. He asked us if I wanted wine. We advised that we were justed seated and have not received the menus yet. We were then greeted by our server, Solomon. Once we got the menus, we did order wine. A moment later, they served us with bread and butter. We then settled to try the crispy shrimp but with the sauce on the side. Once we got our appetizer, the sauce was served on the shrimp, and then the shrimp was taken back and served with the sauce on the side. We then placed our order. For our starter, we both had the Louisiana Gumbo. We decided on the 6 oz. Filet select. I had the mashed potatoes with the brussel sprouts while hubby had the same petite Filet but with the grilled shrimp and creamed spinach. Hubby ordered a wine flight, which was not bad but was on the tart side for me. The flavors were spot on, and everything was amazing in spite of the minor hiccups. Solomon checked on us periodically and then helped us select our dessert. Of course, I ordered my favorite dessert, creme brulee, and hubby choose the mini cheesecake. We totally appreciate Solomon's hospitality and great service in spite of the earlier mishaps and other unmentioned details during our dining experience. We are a fan of this establishment, but I had to take off one star due to the unclean dining setting. Overall, the meal and experience was nice . I attended a Ruth's Chris Cigar Dinner, a monthly event held during warm weather months which is hosted on their outside patio. A friend books a table for 12 and this was the second event I attended in as many months. This month was the Whistle Pig Cigar Dinner featuring Herrera Esteli Cigars from Drew Estate. Cigars offered by Jessup's Tobacco Leaf Cigar Shop. Five courses, each paired with a Whistle Pig offering. My favorite of the night was the Fig Old Fashioned. All courses were Latin themed and fantastic. From the Shrimp Ceviche, the main course being Filet crusted with Mole Poblano (a chile, chocolate mix) which was perfectly presented and so tender I could cut it with a fork! The closer was Tres Leches for dessert... what can I say? Perfection!! The Ruth's Chris team was unbelievably thorough and attentive with a shout out to Rachel who provided exemplary service to our group. An excellent event and evening of fun, fellowship and food. A group of friends and I visited the Pikesville location. It was for a birthday celebration. It was only a party of 6. The food was great. However our service was the worst. Our experience took 3 hours due to lack of attention from our server. I waited for a house salad for almost 30mins. Our waitress constantly gave excuses for our wait for very minimal things such as sides or even wine. We ordered desserts which took an additional 30mins, she basically brought us mini milkshakes! The manager working that night came over to me and asked me to put on a jacket because my shirt (which was just a normal blouse) was against dress code. Mind you, there were men around me wearing sweatshirts and jerseys. My husband and I have traveled all around the state trying different gourmet restaurants. Obviously we were not going to willingly give our money to an establishment who promotes sexism and discriminates against women. We left and had an amazing dinner at a restaurant down the road called Citron. If you're reading this now abandon Ruth's Chris and check them out! I would give Ruth's Chris 0/5 stars if I could. This establishment should be ashamed at themselves for the way they treat women. Apparently, they only cater to the business men, even the ones that come in sweats and sports jerseys. My husband and I love Ruth's Chris. We have for years, and we've been to many locations. Our last experience was here in Pikesville. This location has a hometown feel. It's an older location--they've been there for many years ( used to be a popular local place long before). So it's not quite as elegant as other locations. But we still felt pampered-from the doorman/valet holding the door and greeting us, to the polite hosts. We got a nice private table for two. Our waiter ( and his assistant) was excellent. We enjoyed having them wait on us. Our chophouse salads were larger than we remember them. Definitely a plus. Bread was warm and fresh. Hubby's medium rare steak was perfectly cooked. My petite filet was also cooked well. Love those sizzling plates. We really love the Brussels with bacon. Creamed Spinach is a classic. We got the Ruth's classic, which saves a few dimes. You can upgrade on sides and desserts si you don't have to feel stuck with a choice you didn't prefer. I will suggest that they upgrade their dining area. Also there was a larger group celebrating something, and their voices went over the top after a few drinks. Good thing we were leaving when it got ridiculous. I know it's hard to have to quiet people having fun, but I hope somehow they were able to get them to lower their voices. Still I didn't count that against the staff. We came here for our date night and we were not disappointed. It had been a few months since having our baby girl we were able to enjoy some time to ourselves, so this was the best place to go! As an appetizer we order spicy shrimp, it tasted similar to Bonefish's Bang Bang shrimp but a lot better. Next time we return we will order separate appetizers, that's how good they were! The next time I will ask for the mac to be well done, I like my mac to have a brown crispy coating on the top. Unfortunately, my boyfriend didn't like his salmon so he ordered stuffed chicken. Valerie exchanged it with no problem, the manager came to our table to speak with us about the salmon and advised the chicken will be out shortly. The last two times we were there the service was bad, but the food is always great so on Friday evening we wanted to give it another try. The restaurant has certainly changed over the years. What was once an upscale dining experience, is no more. Years ago, I would never go to Ruth's Chris without wearing a sport jacket. However, when we arrived, several people were wearing jeans, sweatshirts, tennis shoes, and even jerseys. Most of which are prohibited on the dress code posted on the front door. The restaurant has obviously made a decision not to enforce their own rules and should probably take the sign down. The person who showed us to our table, could not have been less friendly. While we were waiting, another employee asked us if we wanted water to drink. The water never arrived and neither did a server for over 15 minutes. Without any explanation to us about the delay, we decided to leave. We called the manager from our car as we left and he was very apologetic. He told us that he was aware that there had been a delay??? I still don't understand why the issue wouldn't have been resolved immediately, but I wasn't interested in hearing excuses. My wife and I regularly go out to eat and refuse to accept this deplorable level of service in a restaurant where we planned to spend $200 - $300 for a nice evening out. I understand that we are only one voice and two customers that probably won't have an impact on a restaurant. However, Pikesville is a small town and people talk. Ruth's Chris already has a bad reputation in the community for their service, or lack there of. What was once an enjoyable upscale dining environment, has now turned into a disappointing experience that you might find at a chain steakhouse. We will not be returning to Ruth's Chris and I know that unfortunately, we are joining a growing list of our friends and neighbors in the community. read more
