I've been here many times throughout the years. Most of them are good experiences. The only time you can have a bad experience is, if you don't have a great server... All the fondue's are delicious with good dippers. All the sauces are great with the meats too, and you will not leave hungry that's for sure. It's pretty much a food experience. Yeah you cook yourself but that's part of it. If you have a problem with that don't eat here lol. Haven't been to the Melting Pot in probably 15+ years but it was just as good as I remember! Came with my husband on a Saturday night, everything was amazing from the food to the service. We did a four course meal. I love the Quattro formagio cheese fondue - but I do wish it had a "tangier" or sharper cheese in there. Also loved that our server put it all together right in front of us. Only other negative was the salad had too much dressing but I won't even take off a star for that. For meat - we did an upgraded spread with lobster tail and filet, which was definitely worth it. Last we ended with the chocolate turtle fondue which came with a ton of cakes and fruits to dip. We also had a small issue that the manager, Chris, was able to resolve quickly and was much appreciated. Overall we had a great time, and even though it's a little pricey, so I'd recommend this for a more special evening, we will be back! read more

Came for happy hour where select cheese and chocolate fondues are half off. This is a fantastic deal and a memorable date night! Our server, a recent Towson grad was personalble, informative and super awesome. We started with the alpine cheese fondue and it was rich, creamy and delightful. The topping choices were great and had a lot of variety. My favorites were the green apple and pretzels. Next we got the flaming turtle chocolate fondue. It was sweet and bold with lots of delicious dipping options. I really liked the brookie and rice crispy dippers. What was fantastic about this experience is that the server offered to bring you more of anything you really liked. I highly suggest doing the happy hour - it's so filling! Went to this location for my partner and i's anniversary. (3rd time here) Every time we come to this place it is great. The food was amazing, fresh and didn't smell off like some hot pot/cook at your table places do. The service was outstanding, I put in our reservation that it was our anniversary and they presented us with a rose, hand signed card from staff, and a cute plate with "happy anniversary" written on it. It was my daughter's 18th birthday, and she chose the restaurant. It had been ~20 years since I've been there last. With a party of three, we ordered the dinner for 2 ($95) and cheese and protein a la carte. The experience is great, no doubt. Our server was fantastic, knew his food, was on his game. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded for a Wednesday evening, but there was a table of college coeds that were loud and obnoxious. Not The Melting Pot's fault. We each ordered filet and shrimp, started with the quattro fromage (delicious!). There were a few delicious Caesar salads, really tasty. The filet was very good, shrimp were tasty. Finally, the s'mores fondue desert was so very tasty. Everything we had was well done and no regrets. The reason I took one star away from the review was price. With three waters (it's still almost Dry January), and the food, the bill was close to $170 - didn't seem or feel like a $170 meal for three. At least not to me. We were here on December 28. Worst experience we've had at this Melting Pot and we've dined there 4-6 times a year the last 10+ years. No manager seemed present. The floor was dirty with debris from tables. There were pieces of vegetables on the floor near the restrooms. Also, first time in 10? We returned to the Towson location to celebrate an anniversary! Due to the traffic & rain, we were running late. We called and the staff said "No problem!" When we arrived, the staff were at the door to greet us and sat us immediately. The waitress came, introduced herself and took our order. Each of the 3 bountiful courses were served in a VERY timely manner without us feeling hurried. The waitress checked on us throughout the evening (we could not ask for a more attentive waitress). FOOD: Really good. We had the Quattro Formaggio and the Strawberry Capese Salad. Our friends took a full course and had the Land & Sea too. Everything I saw looked really good. Everything I tasted was good. Only one thing- I wish we could have ordered a little meat from the a la carte menu. (Like meatballs not the charcuterie board.) I will say that the choice to do the Quattro Formaggio and the Strawberry Caprese made our meal way less heavy than it otherwise might have. Would recommend! AMBIANCE: Honestly, we were seated near the tables by the bar. That area seems a bit more sparse? The main room seemed to have some nice lights up top. Scheme is fairly modern. Just a slightly different vibe between those two spaces though. Tangerine by Glass Animals is playing. Lighting is not romantic or soft but not overwhelming (small exploded bulbs hanging top.) SERVICE: Excellent. 5/5 No issues. Our server explained the process really well and was super friendly and prompt. Note: Three people fell because the floor was wet. I do think it's just the tile material - that when it gets wet, it's extra slippery. It fits the aesthetic but when it comes time for upgrades, I'd say maybe a safer option for the employees... After a long week I decided to make reservations on the spur for an impromptu evening out. The website reservation system was super simple. Although I was not celebrating anything special this evening you are able to indicate what's bring you out and customize your dining experience. I''ve been to The Melting Pot but not this location. I was underwhelmed by the interior. It's very dark and there were visible spider webs above the exit signage. Greeted promptly, we were taken to our seats in a small intimate table for two. The decor and aesthetics give nothing. Just dark warehouse vibes with string lights. Our server was friendly and welcoming by the time she arrived to take our order I had plenty of time to scan the drink and food menu to decide on the meal. Drinks arrived and unfortunately they weren't good. After I few small sips as the first course arrived I apologized that I would need to send my drink back. It tasted like coconut rum and ice nothing close to a sangria. We were told the bartender was new and the drink was removed from the bill. The cheese course was yummy, but I needed to request for a little more heat to thin out the cheese. After we saw how the controls worked for the pot we just adjusted on our own the remainder of the meal. I would estimate each course was given roughly 25 minutes before the next. This is the perfect place if you want to enjoy uninterrupted conversation because this dinner experience is not meant to move quickly. I wished I wasn't so tired so I could fully enjoy the pace of the meal- but I was sleepy by end of the cheese. Next was the salad. I love a traditional Caesar, but this version contained nuts and pumpernickel croutons. After salad was the main dish. I like that each person can pick their own course and the table doesn't have to share the same course. By the time we finished the main I knew I was too tired to enjoy dessert but it was brought out and we tried a few pieces before requesting for it to be packed up. I was stressed because I changed venues last minute and she made the transition so seamless! Zach -our waiter was amazing. He was patient and attentive and explained everything we had questions with! Went for a birthday dinner, and had an amazing experience. The food was delicious, but most of all, our server was amazing. I want to give a huuuuge kudos to Zach for being the most absolutely incredible server we've had, maybe ever. He was attentive, kind, and extremely genial. This man deserves a raise. We had a group of four of us for a reservation at 7pm on a Friday evening. I recently accepted a new job and one of our friends wanted to take us all out to enjoy and celebrate together. Very nice of them! We knew it was going to be pricey with it being four of us... so off we go! As stated, we had reservations for 7pm. We got there around 6:45, get checked in at the front, and are asked to wait for about 15 minutes so that they can get our table ready. Perfect! We find our way to the bar for a quick drink. We all get a drink and right at 7pm, as promised, we were whisked away to our table. I have always been in the back booths but never near the front in one of the front rooms. This was a nice change. We get seated and are almost immediately greeted by Chris, our server. Chris set out the menus, asked if we have ever been before and/or if we needed any form of guidance. We were all set. The servers are VERY serious about any allergies and/or guidance on the menu of any kind. One of our friends is deathly allergic to sesame of any kind (... I mean DEATHLY). Our server took that seriously and ensured anything ordered by any of us were strictly adhering to this with the restrictions of the food that may consist sesame. We started with the Quattro formaggio cheese fondue. Delicious! They give you apples, veggies, and bread to dip in the cheese and will refill the dippables if you want more. No salads for the table. We just didn't want them. All of us ordered the You Pick Three cooked Coq au Vin. You put the meat in boiling broth to cook it and you can choose the flavor of the broth. If you've ever had Hot Pot, this is very similar. Entrees come with a variety of sauces which are interesting to try and potatoes and veggies to throw in the pot. For dessert we got the s'mores chocolate fondue and it was to die for. Best part of the meal. They give you fruit, brownies/pound cake, and rice krispies to dip in the chocolate. So. Good. We were all so full at the end of our meals. Special shout out as they also provided a "Congratulations" plate with a candle in a piece of pound-cake. Very nice touch. If another special occasion comes back up, we'll more than likely be back. Oh! Side note, BE PREPARED to spend several hours here. Definitely one of the more, um, casual Melting Pots I've been to. First off, this location feels pretty cramped. Everything seems so smooshed together. Heck, they don't even have tables with two separate burners, which was something I thought every Melting Pot had. Overall, the Towson location is like a Melting Pot-lite. You still pay the exorbitant prices, but you get half the experience that's intended. Ok, maybe I'm spoiled by the King of Prussia location that, as it were, happens to be the first Melting Pot in which I've ever eaten. Awkwardly worded sentences aside, let's run through the meal, shall we? First course: Wisconsin Cheese fondue - nice blend, but I never really understood the allure with dipping apple slices in melted cheese. Bite-sized pieces of bread? Sure. But apple? In cheese? Like, I remember reading about how certain Mid-Westerners like to put a slice of cheese on apple pie, but even the thought of that made me queasy. Second course: Traditional salads. Really loved my tomato caprese with balsamic vinaigrette. Third course (aka the main attraction): Went with the court bouillon broth. Then went with all kinds of crazy stuff, like sesame tuna, dumplings, tofu, Andouille sausage. shrimp, chicken, and filet mignon. One plus? You could get an unlimited re-order of mushrooms. They were fantastic and went well with all of the proteins. Fourth course: chocolate fondue with strawberries, rice crispy squares, banana slices, and chocolate/vanilla marshmallows. Dessert was legit. Really no complaints here. Somehow everything taste good in hot, gooey chocolate. Who knew? If you're coming here on a one-on-one date night, this place would be a fantastic choice. But for 3+ people, it's just simply too constrictive and will invariably fall short when attempting to account for everyone's tastes. read more

The food and setup is pretty standard Melting Pot fare which I've had plenty before. The service though was strange. They said the right things, and they brought us our drinks and gluten free options. The manager even came by to see how we were doing. However they were all unenthusiastic about everything. Just everyone seemed to really each moment of slogging this food around. Even the manager followed the right script with as little happiness as it could be possible while still checking the box of having spoken to each table. The Ambiance is dark and the tables nicely private, and could be lovely. But they certainly weren't striving for much service. read more

I wish they would give you a little bit more bang for your buck, especially if the vegetarian option. I absolutely love the Melting Pot! My best friend took me recently for my birthday. My only complaint would be the seating; they put us in one of those very small booths upstairs which meant I had to ask her to get up any time I had to go to the bathroom, and our table was really cramped once the main entrees and plates came. It also forced one of us to constantly reach across the food for sauce or cooking our food. That said, the food is ALWAYS on point. The 4 course meal is definitely the best option. I love that the cheese dippers are refillable. It seems like it's not going to be enough food when the entree comes, but by the time dessert is out, I am so full (doesn't stop me from shoving chocolate covered marshmallows and pound cake in my mouth though). Reservations are highly recommended, but very easy to make online. I had no problems booking a table on a Friday night for the exact time we wanted. read more

While being seated we were told by the host that the Towson location will not honor that promotion but will discount our meal 20%. When the bill came there was no discount. I'm a big fan of hot pot and fondue is a pretty close equivalent. I also proposed to my wife over fondue, so it's something that we enjoy doing together from time to time. This melting pot location has recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. That tells you that there's good management, good staff, good food, and all of the other things that go along with a restaurant that has staying power. There's usually some kind of multi course special and that's what we always go with. It's basically a cheese fondue, followed by a salad, followed by a meat selection, followed by a dessert. None of the individual courses have overwhelming portion sizes, which is awesome. By the time you get to the end though, you will be full. read more

My daughter and I love the melting pot. It's often her first choice for some mommy and me time since it's interactive, delicious, and takes a few hours if you indulge in the full experience as we typically do. It is on the pricey side so we keep in our once in a while arsenal, but the evolution of the kids menu which now offers a choice of 3 items and the option to upgrade and add the cheese and chocolate course will certainly up our attendance. The most recent visit we had outstanding service! This gentleman was funny, attentive, and gladly catered to my mini foodies requests and random banter. I had the full 4 courses (Fiesta for Cheese Course, California Salad, The Classic for Entree and dessert),while my daughter had the kids meal 3 courses (Same cheese and Chocolate but Chicken, Shrimp, and Mushroom Pasta for her entree). Everything was fresh, seasoned well, and delicious after simmering in the Mojo broth! We both left stuffed to capacity and on a sugar high from the candy bar fondue that capped off our meal. Just had a great Valentine's Day dinner experience. The restaurant took our picture under an arch of balloons and gave us a goodie bag on the way out. Sigh. My birthday was Tuesday. My DBF's was Friday. We had big birthday fun with yet another birthday buddy planned for Saturday, so Friday night's dinner needed to be low key (although we still wanted to do something different/special). We had had a fairly meh experience with The Melting Pot the last time we were there, but I had a long expired LivingSocial deal so we decided to give it another try. We had a 7:15 reservation and after some back and forth about where to seat us amongst the hostesses, we were finally seated at a little two-top cozy corner spot beyond the bar (that is it would have been cozy if a four-top wasn't seated directly across from me less than 10 mins after we sat down; I felt like we were part of their table). After a few minutes, our server came by and took our drink order, returned with our drinks and took our dinner order, then disappeared for about 30 minutes. During that time, other tables around us were seated, greeted, served drinks and even began eating their own cheese fondue appetizers, while we sat there, incredulous. Unacceptable. I had just given our server five more minutes to appear before chasing down a host/manager/anyone when our cheddar cheese fondue makings finally came to the table. Our server was nice, very friendly and personable, but we did not appreciate that there was no mention, no apology and no explanation as to why she was gone so long. We also did not appreciate that the server for the previously mentioned four-top did not even once turn our way every time she came to check on her own table; I know not every restaurant employs the teamwork methodology, but surely she noticed that her co-worker was AWOL and that we were just sitting there, staring at an empty pot and growing increasingly more annoyed (especially since the other server seemed to check her own table every 5-10 minutes). It did not help that the A/C seemed to come and go in varying intervals, blowing cold air right on us. Throughout the rest of our "experience", a drink request was also forgotten, and there continued to be periods where our server disappeared for long intervals. The food itself was good, in addition to the cheddar cheese fondue we also had house salads, the chicken, shrimp and filet entrees in the coq au vin style, and the Flaming Turtle dessert, but by the time the manager brought over the check we just wanted to run out of there. This is the part where I am embarrassed. We totally forgot that we had given our server the LivingSocial deal at the start of the meal. Granted, that was three hours earlier (yes, three hours) so I guess it was an easy mistake, but in our haste to just get out of there we didn't pay attention and wound up only tipping on the discounted amount. Whoops. I feel like a jerk, but it really was an honest mistake. We were so disappointed that our birthday dinner was a bust and that we basically wasted three hours, half of which was spent waiting. I know that a fondue dinner is a marathon, not a sprint, but we have dined here many times in the past and gotten out in half the time.
