I have tried several Ruth's Chris and this was my first time going to this location. The food tasty and the steak properly cooked to my request. They also brought back some of my dad's favorites like the Gumbo and Onion Rings. Will definitely recommend and look forward to eating at this restaurant again. read more

Ruth's Chris used to be the place for fine dining but it has gone down hill. The service is mediocre and slow. The food quality has diminished significantly. The servers try to do their best with what they have to work with, most of them provide good service. The salad has too many stems in it. The sweet potato casserole has too much breading, and the spinach is stringy. The crème brûlée taste like pudding. The filet size has gotten smaller and the filet lack the flavor it used to have. I attended my birthday dinner at Ruth's Chris. We made a reservation online which was pretty simple. When we arrived we were able to get a nice table in a more private room. The restaurant was festive with nice Christmas decor and a dimly lit ambiance!! The room we were in only had 4 tables, so we appreciated the privacy. Our main waiters were Tony, Andy, and Jonathan (his name wasn't what was on his name tag, I forgot his correct name). Tony started off telling us his recommendations and we ordered a bottle and some glasses of wine. There was a $138 special for the bottle. I don't drink but I did sip the Shea Pinot Noir, it was a very dry wine. It probably would have been better paired with something. My daughter's boyfriend really enjoyed it though, with his steak. The Rosa Regale wine was very smooth and sweet. It was actually good. If I drank I'd prefer this. We started off with bread and butter, and calamari. The calamari was really good. I enjoyed it. I'd definitely ask for it to be fried hard next time. But it was seasoned well and the lemon made it even better. We ordered the stuffed chicken Oscar style, pork chop, tomahawk steak, steak and shrimp, au gratin potatoes, mashed potatoes, asparagus, brussel sprouts, and etc. The stuffed chicken was good, it went well with the au gratin potatoes. It was topped with a small crab cake and bernaise sauce, which wasn't bad. It just wasn't my favorite. I wish the chicken had a cranberry sauce or something to go with it. That would have really elevated it for me. The brussel sprouts were tasty also, they had bacon in them. The pork chop came with apples on top , which were pretty tasty as well. The tomahawk steak was $175, it was the most expensive steak I've ever had. But you could definitely tell it was better quality. It was tender and it paired well with the side of mushrooms. My daughters stuffed shrimp were appetizing. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We had plenty of leftovers afterwards. The sides are shareable, so maybe discussing it prior to ordering would make more sense to cut down on the cost. We didn't do that. Lol. Afterwards Tony put some confetti on the table for my birthday, which I think was a nice touch. We ordered chocolate ganache cakes, cheesecake, raspberry sorbet, and coffee for dessert. The presentation was very nice. The cakes were a big portion, so I'd definitely recommend sharing the desserts. They're a good size. My daughter enjoyed the sorbet. It was tangy and fruity! The raspberry sauce for the cheesecake is normally really good, but it was slightly sour on this day for some reason. Our server Tony was very attentive. Him, Andy and the other servers kept our drinks full. Tony was very nice and funny the whole night. I really enjoyed all of them. Afterwards when our food was boxed up, there were a few mix ups. Once Brian the GM found out some of us had each others food when we got home, he was very accommodating and fixed the issue with no problems. They remade the mixed up items and allowed me to pick them up on a different day of my choice. Which I appreciated. Brian was very professional and friendly!! There were several people boxing the food up, so I understand how the mixup happened. We were happy with the resolution. All in all it was a nice dinner and a real vibe. Ruth's Chris Steak House is located in the Town Center area of Virginia Beach. There is limited street parking, but there are parking garages here and the Green Parking Garage is the closest one to the business. My visit here was on October 31, 2025. I've been to Town Center numerous times, but have never been to Ruth's Chris. My mom and I both came here on this visit based on an ad for hearing about a program available, so the cost was covered by the company sponsoring this event. This review is centered on the aspects of the visit regarding the staff, food and so forth. The entrance to the restaurant is on the second floor. There is an escalator that you can use to get up there. There is also an elevator to get up there as well. This restaurant is more upscale, so business casual to elegant attire is required, which is noted next to the entrance doors. When we came in, we looked around a bit as we weren't sure where to go. A few moments later, someone came by and they helped us get to the room we wanted to get to. At the tables, there was a set menu of items you could choose from. The first course was the Steak House Salad. For the entree, you had three options to choose from. The sides were Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Fresh Broccoli. The dessert would be the Classic Cheesecake. The first part was to get an overview of the presentation that day. After 15 minutes or so, servers came around asking what our choice would be for the main course. I chose the Garlic-Herb Cheese Stuffed Chicken and my mom chose the Classic Petite Filet. They brought out their bread to the tables. Around 11:30 am, the Steak House Salads came out to the tables. It looked really good, and when I had it, it was great, even though I don't normally do salad dressings. Shortly after finishing the salad, the sides came out to the tables, followed by the main course chosen. The Garlic-Herb Cheese Stuffed Chicken was amazing. There was plenty of flavor to it and really hit the spot. My mom noted the same thing with her Classic Petite Filet. After having those parts of the lunch, the next hour or so was the presentation that brought us here in the first place. Once that part was completed, the final course came around, which was the Classic Cheesecake. The cheesecake was really good, and is something I don't normally have. Overall, Ruth's Chris Steak House was really good. I know it would be pretty pricey on a regular basis, which is why I hadn't been here before until this. I may consider coming here for a personal special event reason in the future though. The food and service were awesome. My wife and I went here for a happy hour and had a great experience. Caleb is a great server who made sure that my water was regularly filled and that my order was done correctly, to the T! I ordered the burger and fries cooked medium-rare with half the slice of Swiss cheese on the burger and the other half on the side which I then boxed to-go. I really appreciated my server and cook's attentiveness to my order as I'm trying to be mindful of my salt and saturated fat intake. As a dietitian I frequently encourage my patients to advocate for themselves when eating out and ask for Heart Healthy requests (i.e cheese and dressings in the side, no salt on fries, etc.). We had a quiet dinner tonight at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in the Town Center of Virginia Beach. We arrived at 5pm and we were fortunate enough to grab a couple of seats at the bar. Brendan the bartender was very pleasant and helpful with menu questions and suggestions. We started out with Seared Ahi Tuna on the Happy Hour Menu for $15. This was a generous portion and it was beautifully plated, and lightly seared, just the way I like it. My Wife had the Spicy Shrimp, also on the Happy Hour Menu for $16. They were incredibly delicious, served piping hot and she enjoyed them very much. For Dinner, she had the Chilean Sea Bass served with spinach. It was beautifully plated with so good! The crust on top was a nice touch where they use a Parmesan blended with some spices to make this incredible flavor. I had a 6oz Filet Mignon served with 3 grilled shrimp. My first time going to a Ruth's Chris Steak House. We received excellent service while we were there. They were very attentive but not overbearing. We got the petite 8 ounce steak and also the chef special 16 ounce ribeye with the crab on top and mushrooms, mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole for the side. If you like sweet, the sweet potato casserole is amazing, and if you don't mind, mushrooms, the roasted mushrooms are so damn good! The mashed potatoes are just okay. The wine was great though. One of my coworkers mentioned that they received very poor service while it was really busy so your mileage may vary. Because we got there early in the evening, they open at 4 PM, we had a 4:45 reservation and it was only about a quarter full. But the food was amazing. The service was really good while we were there. Ambience was nice but in my opinion everything was a little bit overpriced. We paid roughly $300 for the bill. I think if you're willing to spend that kind of money then this is a great place to go for the food and experience but if you just want some good steaks, there are many other cheaper options that can deliver as well. read more

First of all, I have had many great meals at this location. Which is why I was so disappointed that they arbitrarily closed the restaurant an hour early. I understand that business may be slower than you would prefer but from the perspective of a customer who literally walked in the rain to enjoy your food it was an absolute let down to be told you were closed at 8pm. I could understand cutting back and having a skeleton crew but closing? Not customer centric to say the least. If you don't want to be open until 9, change your hours. One waiter/bartender and skeleton kitchen staff could have taken care of it. They could have been cleaning and breaking down early but to close is a real disservice to anyone that was turned away. Finally made it to Ruth Chris. It was cool to see what it was all about, but not our cup of tea. Was it nice inside with tasty food...yes! Was it worth the money? I don't feel it was, especially if you have decent cooking skills of your own. I am not trying to knock it, but I would (and did just a week prior) prefer to buy a good-quality steak or salmon and make it myself. We just felt it wasn't anything special for what you were paying for. Now I will say, the sides are what stole the show for us. They were delicious and a good portion of it. We generally hit this spot three times a year. First time we have ever been disappointed at Ruth's Chris. The bone-in Filet Mignon was listed on the menu, however when we attempted to order four of them our waitress informed us it was no longer available. And has not been available since September 2025. At this price point for the meal we expected better the menu should reflect what is available! This was definitely our go-to steak. It was to the point that we were going just to leave. I enjoyed my visit to this location even though I typically go to the RC in NY. I ate at the bar, and the food was as expected...delicious. I ordered my usual filet mignon, but unfortunately, it was over cooked the first time and had to be sent back. I also raised a concern about my sides getting cold, and they promised to make a new batch. However, when they returned, I could tell that the food was still the same. He came right over and shared with us the specials, and even explain to us the different dishes that they offer. The fries were nice and crispy. They also had good flavor. The salad was a side salad a Caesar salad. It was your typical salad nothing fancy. The CASH signs $$$$ when going to any restaurant that has this usually also means impeccable service and its sad to say it wasn't. Now it wasn't my waiter he was terrific! I am not a cheap person by any means but a 300 check with a 70.00 steak i never ate should always be done right. This review concerns the experience we had as part of a 13-person group dining at this restaurant on April. 11, 2026. We were there for a 4pm dinner. The food was delicious and well-prepared but way too expensive, considering the location - Virginia Beach, not New York City. The service was very good; the servers were very attentive but not interfering. What was extremely disappointing was that no one in management or on the serving team made a decent effort to accommodate our party at one table. There were 10 people at the main table and 3 of us at a smaller table nearby. We'd come from all over the country for an event at a nearby military base: people had come from Florida, New Mexico, South Carolina, and northern Virginia. We had not seen each other in several years and were looking forward to catching up with each other. Because my husband, our very good friend, and I were forced to sit at the smaller table nearby, we were naturally excluded from the conversation at the larger table and were denied the opportunity to catch up with our friends there. A few of these friends are in uncertain health, and we don't know if we will have the chance anytime soon to catch up with them before some drastic change happens that will forbid us from having the chat that we should have had at Ruth's Chris. Ruth's Chris personnel could and should have put these two tables together, so that we could ALL have enjoyed the meal. Although we at the "children's table" did enjoy each other's company, the fact that Ruth's Chris personnel did not do a simple task like attaching our small table to the larger one almost completely ruined the experience for me. Ruth's Chris is an established, experienced restaurant: they should have known better than to split our entire group. Had I known this would happen, I never would have gone to this dinner... we would have gone with our friend to a much more welcoming place - such as the closest McDonald's. In my former position, I was responsible for running events like this - and I'm happy to note that NO ONE was excluded in any way. This did not happen at Ruth's Chris. On April 12, I will call the manager and let him/her know what a resentful, frustrating, and hurtful experience they gave us with this unprofessional behavior. If the manager looks at documentation from our time there, he/she will easily be able to find our group's information - and hopefully will contact the (client) host of the event to see what our host would want in order for Ruth's to regain its good reputation with us loyal customers. My husband and I went for our anniversary and everything was great! We were seated almost immediately. The servers were very attentive and friendly. My husband got the tomahawk steak and was asked to select a special knife to cut it. I had the fall special - salmon and shrimp and also ordered their famous lobster mac and cheese. We had dinner here for our anniversary and started out with the veal ravioli as our app with a bottle of wine. The ravioli was perfect and a light app so we had room for our steak. We ordered the ribeye and cowboy ribeye along with sides to share - mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach. The steaks came out sizzling in butta the plate super hot. We started to dig in and that steak was sooooo mouth watering delicious!!! Upon arrival, our table wasn't ready with the reservations we placed. Came here for my friends birthday. Since our table wasn't ready they offered us to go to the bar. A waiter there offered us a table and took our drinks. It was nice of him and even brought our drinks to our table since they weren't ready when it was time to be seated. The environment seemed brighter than before, and perfect enough to see our food. Want a big fan of the calamari because it wasn't crispy but more so soggy because of the sauce on top of it. The waiters were very attentive, friendly, and helpful. The ambiance is nice and warming. While there were some guest whose conversation was a little loud, the overall noise level was minimal to where your table could speak without having to speak louder. If you're looking for a nice place to have an elegant dining experience, this may be the place but if you're looking for place with delicious food, maybe try somewhere else. read more

The ambiance was nice my only gripe was that it was super cold where we were seated. We were told the temp was adjusted. Would've loved to move seats but were told they didn't have any others available and the empty tables with black napkins on them weren't occupied but we weren't allowed to utilize them. So dining in elegance with a steady cold chill wasn't delightful at all. Never experienced that at this location previously and it definitely put a damper on the mode as nobody likes to be cold and it was new years eve. Not as good as we expected. My wife and I arrived early for 5;30 pm Thursday reservation and we were seated immediately. We each ordered the crab cakes, which consisted of three smallish crabcakes in a plate of sizzling butter. Disappointing. There was lump crab meat, but there was also green pepper bits. Sides were brussels sprouts done in butter and bacon (excellent) and asparagus in a thin mayonnaise based Hollandaise sauce (not good). The cocktails were pretty good. I've never been to a Ruth's Chris Steak House so it was nice to finally go to own for a celebration! The food was good for most part. I liked the mashed potatoes & sweet potatoes the most. The chopped salad I had was kind of bitter so I wish I had gotten a different entree. The ambiance & service was immaculate. I wish I had tried something else as an entree but all & all a good place for finer dining. read more

I loved Ruth's Chris' steaks. We will go for an anniversary or birthdays if we are not traveling as a treat....knowing that you'll pay a little more - but it would be worth it for the best steaks ever. Until last Tuesday. We go, our daughter is visiting for the first time in 5 years...we want her to taste a great steak. We get seated at a table in the back (guess we were not dressed well enough for a booth- (and had a reservation) A woman gets our water and then ignores us. No one comes...we can't wave anyone else down because we are in Siberia..... then we get an older lady and a man (who ended up being our actual waiter) advancing on the table a while later. It's okay. . We are excited for the steaks. Bread never comes. When it finally does, it's a thick breadstick wrapped up like a baby (annoying) to share with 3 people. We try to catch the waiters eye (chilling at the hostess stand) never looks our way. Finally we got his attention as he was going to the booth beside us.. We finally got another bread stick. All the prices went up and servings got smaller. You will still pay out $12 for the mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, but now they are so small. They come in little bowls. The lobster mac and cheese was $30 - bigger (in the old size serving dishes) but not worth it . .Bread was good. But honestly, you are splitting almost a breadstick between three. ...the prices we are paying, you should bring a basket of 5. Then it broke my heart, but the steaks were not good. First time in 11 years. My steak had an aftertaste, didn't taste the seasoning, no butter melting on top when they brought it. ...but the it was fatty , no flavor. (Had better steak at Longhorn) So you pay $62-87 for steak, $60 for 3 sides. They State tax you and then VB tax you the same amount ($15 each) - $50 tip (20% ish before tax even though he didn't really deserve it) . $350 for bad steaks, not great service, tiny great sides (still taste amazing but they don't give you enoug now to really enjoy them) - $90 in JUST taxes and tips. To pay that out you have to trust you are getting the same great steaks every time. We didn't. Didn't complain, paid and left....but will never be back.. for that price, I can go get a great dinner and hotel room and spend the night on the beach front. Overpriced and not worth it. read more
