We came here on a Sunday night (Father's day even) and thought it would be difficult to get seated without a reservation, but to our surprise, they were able to accommodate our party of two with only about a 10 min wait. From the moment we arrived, everyone was incredible! My friend and I are two younger women, and sometimes at higher-end/fancier restaurants , we've felt overlooked or not taken as seriously compared to other guests. That was absolutely not the case here! they treated us with the same level of care and respect as everyone else, and we really appreciated that. Once we were seated, we had the best server (I unfortunately forgot his name, but he was tall, had dreads, and his name started with an "L.") He did an amazing job explaining both the menu and the restaurant, especially since it was my friend's and my first time dining at Ruth's Chris. Throughout the night, the service remained exceptional. Multiple staff members came by regularly to make sure our drinks were refilled and that we had everything we needed. Last minute decision to venture into Waiks for dinner so we thought we would just go sit in the bar since we didn't' make any reservation. Found out they don't like kids sit at the bar. I get it...an adult would drink more than my 2 year old so not worth the seat. They had tables outside so we didn't need to wait. Took us 3 to a 7-top on the other end of the walkway. They also don't want a 2 year old disrupting anyone. Ordered salad, sides, steaks, and a lot of wine. Food was delish other than our first bread coulda knocked someone out. Baby got the poops and is potty training so we did multiple trips to the bathroom. Other than having to go into a smaller stall, never had to wait long to get in. 1 sink doesn't work well in the women's though. People standing there waving and doing little dances to try to get the water to turn on. The reason for only 3 stars...2 workers were dining in and seated near us. So many workers came out to say hi you woulda thought they were celebrities. It was a little distracting. After the people would go back to work, the commentary started. Some nice, some not so nice. It was interesting to hear the tea and I was listening for my friends' names but never heard anything. This is Hawaii...we all know someone somewhere. The Caesar salad was crisp, fresh, and well-balanced (not overdressed, which I appreciate), and the garlic mashed potatoes were rich, creamy, and full of flavor without being too heavy. Wonderful dinner! We checked in 30 min early. The kids running the hostess stand were not keeping up as they forget we were in the bar and didn't check. We got contacted by phone 15 min past our reservations but no big deal. This Ruth's Chris does not have a view but is laid out well and very comfortable. Our server "Luan" was simply outstanding! We had the Porterhouse for two. I like it it Med Rare and my better half likes its more towards med well. Luan had a great suggestion I have never done! He ordered it Med Rare let her pick her pieces and sent them back to be finished off perfect. Both were happy! The steak was amazing as was the creamed spinach and potatoes. My new fave go to in Waikiki! I took my friend for her birthday dinner and we stayed for happy hour - best deal on the island! Dinner was amazing - the steak was cooked to perfection, as always, and the staff was super friendly. Shoutout to Kevin and the manager, David - they really make you feel like family. Their happy hour runs from 4-7 and is priced at $6-7 per drink, and they're pretty strong. I'll definitely be back! My buddy is a regular here at Ruth's and invited me to dinner on Friday, after a long day of helping him with his business. From the moment we walked in, Russell, our bartender, recognized him and already had his first beer poured and tasty by the time we took our seats at the bar. I ordered my first beer and we ordered shrimp cocktail to start. Everything was excellent, from the food, drinks, service, and cheerful banter. After the shrimp, we ordered a New York strip (cut pupu style), the baked chicken (the best I've ever had), and a side of scalloped potatoes au gratin. Their signature sizzling plates came with the usual fanfare, and it was a perfect spot to further melt the cheese on the chicken, and the potatoes. Like clockwork, my good friend makes reservations for her birthday at her favorite place for an early bird dinner. I highly recommend getting an early reservation because it fills up fast, and you get really quick service, too. I normally don't eat meat so I ordered the Sea Bass. We were already sorta tired and we've been up since 6am to capture all the experience we can so coming in for dinner around 8:00pm after waiting for our walk in reservation was called for. Our waiter was Tricia and she took care of us very well, we placed our order through her and she disclosed good info on each item we ordered. We chose the Porterhouse for Two steak and garlic mashed potatoes as well as two drinks, Mango Mule and Pineapple Frizz....bread was also provided while we waited and Tricia made sure we were topped off on bread and water too. When our main course and side came, the server disclosed that the plates we would eat on is hot and which side of the cuts from the steak is what. One side was Ny steak style and the other side was filet mignon, which was very juicy and delicious. We definitely ate our meal together in short time, another man in a suit came by to check in on us when our plates were collected while we were waiting for our desert to arrive, we didn't get his name but he was very kind and told him we ordered the crème brûlée after Tricia sharing that it's a popular choice and also her favorite option to pick. Lastly, Tricia brought over a dessert for my birthday, it was 2 strawberries with chocolate zig zagging drizzle with words saying Happy Birthday, it also had rum on the top where she lit it up where it engulfed in blew flames...it was very cool! We both enjoyed our meal and experience at Ruth's Chris steak house, this is one of the best steakhouses we found in Waikīkī. I had the 16oz ribeye cooked medium rare. It came out on a sizzling plate swimming in butter. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly and was so tender and juicy. We got the garlic mashed potatoes and the lobster macaroni and cheese. The potatoes were whipped and perfectly smooth. The hostess is a little meh, but once seated, we had one of the best dining experiences in Hawaii that we ever had. Our server, Garreth, was really nice, gave us great recommendations for dinner, and tips for the hike we're going on tomorrow. As for the food, we did the tomahawk dinner for 2. It's $220, and you get the tomahawk, 2 sides (garlic mashed and creamed spinach), salad, and dessert. Everything was so good. Perfectly seasoned and piping hot. I've probably eaten at Ruth's Chris Steak House 30 to 40 times in my life, and I've usually loved it. But last night was, without question, the worst experience I've ever had at any steakhouse. We were seated in the back room, which had a bland, chain-restaurant atmosphere that honestly made me feel like I was dining at Olive Garden. The chairs felt cheap, and the seat cushions were so worn down that they sank in and hurt my back throughout the meal. The steak was incredibly tough, undercooked, and had such a strong gamey taste that I could only manage two bites- literally. As a result, I ended up mostly eating the creamed spinach, which tasted like it came straight out of a can. The crème brûlée seemed like it had been refrigerated for a week and then barely reheated before serving. To make matters worse, they had run out of baked potatoes. A steakhouse with no baked potatoes? And this was a $400 dinner... After this experience, I will never go to Ruth's Chris again. read more

Food: Dessert was great! We ordered the carrot cake and the sin cake. I would love to try their other desserts next time. I believe the carrot cake is seasonal, so if you go, try it before it disappears off the menu. Its a solid slice, and even my big back had to ask for a box. Service: Kevin O was amazing. We visited during our honeymoon and they had prepared our table with rose petals. My husband had the filet with rice and creamed spinach, which he had no complaints about. The Best of the Best. If you are in Hawaii in this area, and there for a special vacation or honeymoon, this is the place to visit on your last day. First, the service blows out any other place in the area and I went to dozens in the week I was in Waikiki. We were greeted like super stars. The atmosphere is epic. In terms of menu and price, we got the full course meal with a bottle of wine. Is it pricey? Yes. But does the steak melt in your mouth like shaved ice on a hot day? Yes. a bonus review to round off 2024! it's one of those times when you felt like you must immediately write and write i did! after arriving in waikiki late morning and wondering what to fill my belly with for christmas eve lunch, ruth's chris came to mind. based on vague memory from previous visits, they don't open so early but being holiday season google seemed to suggest that they are opened for lunch at 1pm! it was only 12ish but I felt famished and so ventured over, a short hop from my hotel, to check if google was indeed correct? to my pleasant surprise they are already opened! game on! the usual welcoming and procedural reception followed. seated promptly, with a choice of facing and opted for best lighting for food porn! server ryan then was in attendance and he has to be the best i've had in a long time! definitely a model of what hospitable service is all about! such great bedside manners, knowledgeable with an ability to anticipate your needs and feel you. no pressure selling whatsoever. you will feel completely at home here whatever your budget might be. lo and behold, even their happy hour menu is available all day today! but alas, I only had eye for their cowboy ribeye! and so the order went in for a medium rare take of the steak. bread course followed immediately. nicely wrapped warm carbs and soft melting buttery spread to go. as I was busy stuffing my face, ryan suggested a caesar salad perhaps, before the main event, which i relented to. it was a great decision! can't give more praise for the simple yet complex dish. fresh crunchy veggies, sharp shaved parmesan, crispy cheesy croutons! a match made in heaven, well assembled! as i polished up, the sizzling hot plate of moo that ryan warned me about arrived together with my side of creamed spinach. as they do not have english mustard, i asked for some creamy horseradish. i decided to dig in and quickly sensed something amiss. there wasn't any bounce in the meat, my experience tells me it's either medium or even medium well, definitely not medium rare! i dissected and was disappointed with the very first cut. tapped gently again for some life but nothing. proceeded to cut further inwards towards the bone but with each cut, my heart bled, nothing warm red! was resigned to eating as is when ryan showed up to see if it was indeed cooked to my liking. i must have a really poor poker face and a shy accepting demeanor which ryan saw right through! he offered to replace it which i initially turned down. but he himself likes his steak medium rare and he knew that was not what was served to me. he prodded me and willingly brought it back together with the spinach side to be redone! kudos indeed to ryan! a meal changing move, a mere 8mins extra, that turned this into a five star review! the general manager, matthew leipau, also made his appearance at my table to apologize for that poorly cooked slab. i must say that this is a really well run establishment with great attention to details wrt hospitality! i am still seated at the table way past my bedtime, writing this review! the only blemish I can think of, which can be easily fixed, is the heavy handed seasoning but i think that can go into my santa's wish list for tonight! ;) merry christmas, yelpers! read more

Every time we come to our favorite place, Waikiki in Hawaii, we make it a point to visit this Ruth's Chris. This time we were celebrating something very special, and they did not disappoint. They went above and beyond to make us feel special for our special day. We ordered the tomahawk steak for two, which was incredible. I also ordered a virgin raspberry martini and it was so delicious. I wish I could remember our server's name, but he was fantastic. Management went above and beyond to make us feel seen and heard, which was incredibly kind since we didn't like our seating in the beginning. They were so friendly in finding us another table that we felt more comfortable at. The ambience is very nice, even the bar seating is comfortable as well. They really kept pushing how dangerous the hot plates are which we found really funny and awkward. Why does this restaurant serve everything on scalding hot plates if it's such an issue lol The crab cakes are more like crab balls- the middle looked like it had uncooked batter. The mai tais were yummy but weak. The portions are generous but i had a more elevated dining experience in mind and it was very casual. It was loud and doesn't have any appeal of a well-structured fine dining establishment that Ruth Chris has lived up to and always provided. We orders cocktails and a bottle of wine along with an appetizer. Once we were settled in, we knew this wasn't going to be the Ruth Chris experience we' e come to love. So, we decided to move on, we asked the very charming waiter to bring us our check We promptly left and found another steak house nearby more to our liking. Centrally located and nicely appointed, this location is easily accessible and located in a nice small shopping center. Views are nice as well; overlooking the street below. When we arrived we were greeted by the host and seated at a comfy table. We were greeted by our waitress Audrey and her trainee Bennett. I can see why she was training as she offered exceptional service. She knew the menu inside and out and checked in with us the right amount of times. We loved conversing with Audrey and Bennett, they made us feel like old friends. The food at this location was exceptional. We both had the petit filet which was cooked perfectly and swerved alongside our sides of mashed potatoes and a delicious corn special. Got seated the host was very friendly and accommodating. The server was very rude, I asked if we could get the "3 course special that I reserved". Immediately responded with " you should know we don't do specials over here." "Well obviously I didn't and wasn't informed Waikiki location was not participating in that." Then the he said "you just have to order off the regular menu." Not once was he trying to be hospitable or helpful in anyway. Did not even want to be served by him if the attitude was that shitty. If you are looking for great tasting steaks AND superb service, go here and not the Downtown location. The menu is the same and steaks are the same great quality as the Downtown location. It's just that for us the service we received at the Waikiki location is waaaaay better. Your experience may certainly vary from ours. A while back I wrote a critical Yelp review about the extremely poor waiter service we received at the Downtown location. We decided to try again, but this time at the Waikiki location thinking that the best waiters and staff work in Waikiki cause maybe it's busier and tips are better with all the visiting tourists. Although I don't know if my thought is correct, we definitely made the right choice, even with the $8 fee for validated valet parking. We will visit Ruth Chris Waikiki again. The service we received at the Waikiki location redeemed this steak house brand for us. For those wondering, it's $8 for validated valet parking at Hilton Embassy Suites and the nearby Royal Hawaiian Center recently raised its minimum required purchase for parking validation to $25 (even for kamaaina). read more
