Wonderful dinner! We checked in 30 min early. The kids running the hostess stand were not keeping up as they forget we were in the bar and didn't check. We got contacted by phone 15 min past our reservations but no big deal. This Ruth's Chris does not have a view but is laid out well and very comfortable. Our server "Luan" was simply outstanding! We had the Porterhouse for two. I like it it Med Rare and my better half likes its more towards med well. Luan had a great suggestion I have never done! He ordered it Med Rare let her pick her pieces and sent them back to be finished off perfect. Both were happy! The steak was amazing as was the creamed spinach and potatoes. Our wine glasses never went empty nor did our water. Great service as it should be. The manager did make his rounds to ensure everyone was happy. Simply a great meal at a great steak house! Well done!

My new fave go to in Waikiki! I took my friend for her birthday dinner and we stayed for happy hour - best deal on the island! Dinner was amazing - the steak was cooked to perfection, as always, and the staff was super friendly. Shoutout to Kevin and the manager, David - they really make you feel like family. Their happy hour runs from 4-7 and is priced at $6-7 per drink, and they're pretty strong. I'll definitely be back! It's a close walk to a lot of hotels and the beach, so you can always walk it off if you have too many!

My buddy is a regular here at Ruth's and invited me to dinner on Friday, after a long day of helping him with his business. From the moment we walked in, Russell, our bartender, recognized him and already had his first beer poured and tasty by the time we took our seats at the bar. I ordered my first beer and we ordered shrimp cocktail to start. Everything was excellent, from the food, drinks, service, and cheerful banter. After the shrimp, we ordered a New York strip (cut pupu style), the baked chicken (the best I've ever had), and a side of scalloped potatoes au gratin. Their signature sizzling plates came with the usual fanfare, and it was a perfect spot to further melt the cheese on the chicken, and the potatoes. A couple of glasses of cabernet finished our dinner there, with leftover steak and potatoes to take home. An enjoyable dinner, for sure.

Best place ever! Ask for Russell at the bar! He's the best in town!!service is always excellent with Russ! We have been coming here 2nd time in a row from Vegas and this place never disappoints from food, service, and atmosphere. You can watch games from bar area. They do have happy hour as well! I got the lychee martini which was delicious and not too sweet! This is place is 10/10 and perfect for date night! Make reservations though FYI

Everything was fine. I would say more like 3.5. Service was friendly. Great location close to hotels and other shopping. Steak was cooked perfectly!! And the lobster macaroni was so delicious!!! Huge serving.

Like clockwork, my good friend makes reservations for her birthday at her favorite place for an early bird dinner. I highly recommend getting an early reservation because it fills up fast, and you get really quick service, too. I normally don't eat meat so I ordered the Sea Bass. It was exquisitely prepared to the point that the fish literally fell apart at the touch of my fork. We started off with the Steakhouse Salad, Shrimp Cocktail (huge shrimp) and a flavorful Chopped Salad before diving into our main courses, followed by shared deserts.

My wife and I wanted to have one nice dinner on our last night at Waikiki. We were already sorta tired and we've been up since 6am to capture all the experience we can so coming in for dinner around 8:00pm after waiting for our walk in reservation was called for. Our waiter was Tricia and she took care of us very well, we placed our order through her and she disclosed good info on each item we ordered. We chose the Porterhouse for Two steak and garlic mashed potatoes as well as two drinks, Mango Mule and Pineapple Frizz....bread was also provided while we waited and Tricia made sure we were topped off on bread and water too. When our main course and side came, the server disclosed that the plates we would eat on is hot and which side of the cuts from the steak is what. One side was Ny steak style and the other side was filet mignon, which was very juicy and delicious. We definitely ate our meal together in short time, another man in a suit came by to check in on us when our plates were collected while we were waiting for our desert to arrive, we didn't get his name but he was very kind and told him we ordered the crème brûlée after Tricia sharing that it's a popular choice and also her favorite option to pick. Lastly, Tricia brought over a dessert for my birthday, it was 2 strawberries with chocolate zig zagging drizzle with words saying Happy Birthday, it also had rum on the top where she lit it up where it engulfed in blew flames...it was very cool! We both enjoyed our meal and experience at Ruth's Chris steak house, this is one of the best steakhouses we found in Waikīkī. Definitely come here for a complimentary dessert with an entry purchase if you're rooming at Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikīkī (same building).

Although it was Valentine's Day and they were so busy...our server Trish was attentive but could tell she and the manager knew the couple next to us. Just by their attention... Overall the evening was great because I was with mi amor.

Ok, so we usually never, ever eat at places we can eat at home while on vacation, but since I was given a Ruth's Chris gift card earlier this month, here we are. The hostess is a little meh, but once seated, we had one of the best dining experiences in Hawaii that we ever had. Our server, Garreth, was really nice, gave us great recommendations for dinner, and tips for the hike we're going on tomorrow. As for the food, we did the tomahawk dinner for 2. It's $220, and you get the tomahawk, 2 sides (garlic mashed and creamed spinach), salad, and dessert. Everything was so good. Perfectly seasoned and piping hot. We swapped out the dessert for $5 extra and got the cheesecake...DELISH! We also added cocktails and the crab cakes to enhance our dinner. Honestly, I would break our rule next time on Oahu, and eat at this location of Ruth's Chris again.

We stayed at Hokulani Hotel by Hilton Resort and this place is in the same area. We just walked over. Beautiful place to have a wonderful dinner. The staff was amazing. What can go wrong with the steaks at Ruth's Chris. Every bites are delicious.

Another amazing dinner here. Their Prime Time dinners are now renamed Ruth's Special Dinners. I got a caesar salad, filet & lobster, garlic mashed potatoes, and dessert. My wife got a bowl of gumbo and had my lobster tail. Service was excellent, reservations are recommended if you aren't there at opening.

Ruth's Chris Steak House Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Ruth's Chris Steak House

What time is the happy hour on Saturday?

Happy hour is every day from 4-7pm. First come, first served, at the bar counter only.

    Where can you park?

Ruth's Chris validates parking for the Embassy Suites hotel on beachwalk avenue. Various parking garages and lots are available near the area as well as street parking.

    Is there a kids menu?

There is a children's menu, but not printed out. 4oz filet mignon and small roasted chicken with sides and drinks for $22 as of 6/2025. Prices and menu items may change.

Do they still have the escargot? And Apple crisp dessert?

No. Previous menu items like these have either been discontinued or still not back on the menu due to kitchen staff shortages (for prep, they prep all their food daily). Certain items will come back in time.

What is the happy hour special?

It would depend on which Ruth's Chris you are going to in Honolulu. They have a number of appetizers, meals and drinks for Happy Hour, which runs between 4:00-7:00pm. I would suggest going to their website to the specific location.… Read more

The third time ( this time ) we added another different menu. The more we come, the more we can try new menu and enjoy new tastes. Honestly El Cielo, all menu we tried even wine and draft beers, were top class, I love to nominate as the best restaurant in Hawaii. I am so glad I found the great restaurant, I was seeking for. Prices were not bad, as inflation everything costs are so expensive nowadays. Everywhere!! Their services are great too. If I live close by I would go El Cielo once or twice a week. Thank you so much. I will love to come back soon again.

I really enjoyed the octopus. Not too soft. It came with a nice chew and sat on a bed of thinly sliced potatoes. I could've eaten the whole dish by myself...No sharing next time. The egg custard was light, with a hint of bacon flavor. It was served in the shell in a high heeled shoe dish. So cute! The entrées were a bit of a different story... I ordered the pork shoulder at first and the waiter recommended it be done, medium rare. I have to say I am no longer a fan of bloody meat so I asked for it to be done medium. Honestly, it arrived and to my palate was a bit tasteless.... given that it was almost $60 I thought twice but was encouraged to send it back. The waiter was accommodating and I ordered the lamb chops instead. Two thick sliced lamb chops arrived about 15 minutes later and were a perfect medium served on a bed of potato and sweet potato. I really enjoyed this.... I like my lamb chops usually grilled, juicy and fatty. These were refined, trimmed of the fat and beautifully plated. I'd like to try the paella next time and more of the appetizers. Really good choice of fancy little cocktails also. I would reserve the back room for sure next time. That room has high ceilings and feels elevated. The front room where we sat was OK. I'd also opt for the outside seating area on a breezy evening... Otherwise it can be rather humid in the summer. Overall, excellent service and delicious food offerings. A bit pricey to be expected given the area.

Quite a bit of parties around us were partaking in this. I on the other hand had asked for a non-alcoholic option. Unfortunately, they ran out of ginger beer, all the sparkler options, and didn't serve any soda. The bartender looked pretty irritated by that point, and didn't even provide me with a glass of water. We would've grabbed a bunch of food to compensate for taking up a seat, but by then, the bartender had already dropped the check, and we hadn't even sat there for more than 5 minutes. The most interesting part was that an older couple sat next to us, similar situation. The gentleman asked for a glass of wine, and his wife asked for a non-alcoholic beverage. Though a different bartender came back with a sparkler option for her. Needless to say, I felt pushed aside and I don't believe I'll be back to this location any time soon. The fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and impossible to stop eating. You know they're good when you keep reaching for "just one more" and suddenly they're gone. We also got the fried calamari and it was perfectly golden and tender, not rubbery at all. Light, crispy coating and super snackable -- especially dipped in the sauce. But the sleeper hit? The smoked ahi with lavosh. So flavorful and fresh, with that smoky richness balanced by the crisp lavosh. It felt light but still packed with taste -- a perfect contrast to the heavier fried stuff. Honestly, everything hit. Great mix of indulgent and fresh, and I'd order this exact combo again without hesitation.

The happy hour menu is impressively priced, with starters beginning at just $6, yet everything feels thoughtfully prepared and elevated. Highlights included the toasted bread with sun-dried tomato pistou -- warm, crisp toast paired with a deeply savory, herbaceous spread that's simple but incredibly satisfying. The mini poke bowl was fresh and well-balanced, showcasing clean flavors and quality fish without being overly heavy. The fish tacos delivered exactly what you want: crispy island fish, bright flavors, and a great balance of texture. We also tried the fish and chips, featuring lightly fried island fish, hot fries, and a creamy house remoulade that tied the dish together beautifully. The standout for us was the empanadas -- flaky, crisp pastry filled with tender braised beef and potato, finished with a bold aji rojo sauce that added just the right amount of depth and gentle heat. Service was friendly and attentive without feeling rushed, and the overall vibe made it easy to relax and enjoy the experience. Whether you're looking for a low-key happy hour, a casual date spot, or a place to unwind after work, this is a hidden gem worth seeking out. Pro tip: Arrive early for happy hour -- once more people discover this spot, it won't stay quiet for long.

Charming ambiance [Honolulu HI]…read more We came here by invite from Terry K and also had the pleasure of joining Therese and her hubby, Kevin. The cafe had a nice inviting feel that extended towards the back, the ambiance was dark and chic. The cafe was adorned with Halloween motif. We placed our orders at the counter which was towards the front section and our food were served at our table. I chose the Spinach Mushroom Goat Cheese Omelette and Lemonade for my drink. That homemade lemonade was so refreshing and delicious! Loved the delicious spinach and mushroom in my omelet. Hubby ordered a classic breakfast of Two Eggs w/ Bacon and Roasted Potatoes... wow! the bacon was crispy and yummy and just how I like my bacon cooked. He gave me 2-pieces, maybe because he saw me drooling over it LoL! but I'm telling you, Therese's Wagyu Cheeseburger on Brioche with French Fries looked mighty yummy too! Thank you, Terry, for inviting us to join you for a Sunday brunch. We had a wonderful first time dining experience here with good food and company! Review #3585

They only serve natural wines, which made everything feel really intentional and thoughtfully chosen. We had a Pinot Noir, a super funky orange wine that was honestly really cool to try, and Coenobium -- a beautiful white wine made by nuns. At one point, a bottle of red wine was opened and poured as a little salute for the room -- a simple, unexpected moment that was really wholesome. For food, we shared the venison pâté with bread and a Caprese salad -- simple, but done so well and paired perfectly with everything. It wasn't just about what we had, but how the whole experience came together. There's something really special about what they're creating there. We are already planning our next visit!

The staff is so sweet and accommodating and make excellent recommendations based on their understanding of their wines and your palate. Will definitely be back as they routinely add new wines to the menu throughout the month. The food menu is limited especially if you aren't a big meat eater but there's something for everyone. Low intervention and organic wines with such great range from light and bubbly to heavy with tons of body. Come for the wine and make friends with the staff and others around the bar. The setting is intimate so get comfy.
