    Virgin pina colada 6/15/26

The reservation was for 12:30 PM on Monday, June 15, 2026 and this would be my second time eating at Tommy Bahama but a first time with my job that I have for a group building meeting... or what they call a work outing.. We got there pretty early and it was less than 10 minutes before our waitress by the name of Jackie had taken our drink orders fairly simple she had been very accommodating ... In most of the orders we did have she had been very exceptional, and she also took the time out to consider certain detail details like my sparkling water for instance ... I finished off two whole glasses of sparkling water and she had went ahead and made a third as a takeout container for me... The Wagyu burger I ordered had been very good. It had a great texture throughout. I had asked for it to be medium well done and it was spot on whoever the chef was on June 15, 2026 at about 1 PM had made my burger exactly to the specifications I asked. Our table of eight had went ahead and shared a selection of three desserts. I personally felt the chocolate cake would've been a little bit heavy so I didn't have too much of that, but it had a very good taste. I did really enjoy the crème brûlée that pineapple crème brûlée had a very noticeable creamy delicious taste of freshness with the cream ... it might possibly be my favorite dessert at a restaurant and I may just come back to have just that... the piña colada cake was super moist and that was also very delicious... The ambience had been very good. There wasn't too much music being played, but it was quiet overall very noticeable on the crowd. There was not a very big crowd at all during our lunch reservation and perhaps that's why everything went smoothly. Jackie had been very good she had accommodated everyone --let everyone know when their orders were coming out if it was coming out late and she had been consistent with water and or drinks, especially with my sparkling water. I feel that this would be a great venue to go to the second floor is where the fire pit is and I feel that that would be a great place for a hang out to get drinks late at night and to hang with friends Again, thank you, Jackie, our waitress had been exceptional. I highly recommend that anyone who goes for lunch to accommodate Jackie as your waitress. ... thank you Tommy Bahamas for a great service and lunch team outting.

Our favorite meal of our trip! We booked dinner for a Wednesday night on the rooftop. For drinks we ordered the Mai Tai and the Espresso martini - both were perfect! We ordered the chips and guac for an appetizer, which was a good portion size and flavorful. For dinner we ordered the parmesan chicken and the ribeye, both were enjoyable. To wrap the night, the coconut cake was amazing! What set the experience above and beyond was our server, Alex. He was friendly, attentive and truly made us feel welcome. Highly recommend!

Nice location, friendly staff, ok food. Found this on Eater so decided to try. The ahi was stringy in both the tacos and the poke bowl. Aside the stringy tuna, the poke bowl with all the toppings was really good - they just need to get better/fresh fish. Would I go back? No... there are way too many more places to try in Waikiki. This restaurant did not stand out as a must repeat.

The service here was amazing - we had a large group and were seated and severed very promptly which was very nice. It is a very nice upscale restaurant vibe wise with affordable prices as well which is nice. The food was just okay in my opinion. I ordered the spaghetti squash with grilled chicken and the chicken was extremely rubbery/almost frozen like. I'm not sure I would order that again, but everyone else seemed to enjoy their entrees.

We came here for a nice final dinner during our Hawaii trip. The scallop sliders were surprisingly delicious. The bread was soft, and they had a great balance of mixed greens and sauce. The Chilean sea bass was decent overall, although the sauce was a little too sweet for my taste. We probably could've skipped the garlic shrimp. I was expecting something more like the flavorful shrimp from the Hawaii food trucks, but these didn't have much flavor. The service was good, and our server was very friendly. The restaurant itself is nice, although the seating area is somewhat limited. If you're seated near the open windows, there's also a really nice breeze and good airflow.

We enjoyed a great date night on vacation here!! We basically ordered all the fun eats and a couple drinks from the happy hour menu! Eric, our waiter, was funny and patient. Great live music and vibes on the top deck!! You can even go shopping for a new Hawaiian shirt after if you're in the mood!

We went to Tommy Bahama Restaurant on our recent visit to Waikiki. I was skeptical to try it, thinking it would be mediocre chain restaurant quality but they proved me wrong! Started off with a lovely cocktail. Our waiter recommended the coconut shrimp and they were to die for, crispy and delicious. I ordered the macadamia nut crusted red snapper and it was wonderful. The fish was flaky with a crispy crust. It was served with grilled asparagus, rice, and a perfectly sweet sauce. Our waiter wasn't terribly friendly or engaging but it didn't ruin our time. Live music and rooftop vibes were lovely.

First time dining at this chain...I am familiar with the clothing, but didn't know about the restaurants. Anyway, it is a great option for casual fine dining! We had reservations on the patio, which is mostly covered. That was important, as we had a few passing rain showers. They worked with diners who were more out in the open to accommodate them in a drier spot. Our table and many others were fine. It is a bit cooler and breezy on the rooftop. Service and food were excellent. Martini was food and decent wine selection. I got the red snapper catching the day special. It was superb! Lightly crusted fish with a fantastic sauce and flavorful rice. My wife got the Squash Shrimp Bowl. It was also excellent-chocked full of fresh veggies and tender shrimp. We splurged on the Kay Lime Pie. It was as it should be, a bit tart with creamy custard. Highly recommended!

Beside the price, and you now what? We came during the happy hour, so it was really not that bad. Walking down the street and we got thirsty, we decided to give it a try. I glad we did. We walked right upstairs, no wait and got some refreshing drinks. The bartender was really nice and overall a good experience.

Our first time in this location. How fun you can shop and buy clothing prior to dinner. Our server Jordan was amazing. The food was impeccable. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp. I also ordered the macadamia crusted catch of the day. We tried several cocktails, all delicious. This is hands down a favorite for us. We visited the store and bought a few shirts as well. Thank you Tommy Bahama!!

**Rating: 4/5** **Ambience:** 5/5 **Service:** 5/5 **Food:** 3/5 We went to Tommy Bahama on the last day of our trip. We tried visiting the day before but were told the rooftop was available only with a reservation, so we made one and came back the next day. I absolutely loved the ambiance. Coming from Seattle, where we don't really have many rooftop spots, this was a great experience. They also had live music, though unfortunately it was only for a short time and we caught about 15 minutes of it. Our server was wonderful--very friendly, explained everything well, and even shared a bit about his background (he was also from Seattle!). As for drinks and food: I ordered the grapefruit cocktail, which was amazing but pretty strong for me--I felt it after just one drink! The food, however, was fairly average. We ordered crab cakes, a margarita pizza from the kids' menu, and mahi-mahi tacos. I didn't really find the mahi-mahi to be blackened as expected. For dessert, we had the pineapple crème brûlée, and that was the highlight. It wasn't overly sweet and had the perfect balance of flavors--the pineapple blended beautifully. Overall, it was a nice experience. While the food didn't stand out much, the ambiance and service really made it worth the visit.

Ask the Community - Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar

Do you need or recommend a reservation?

We always recommend making a reservation, especially for dinner, but walk-ins are always welcome!

Can I order a whole pie to go (birthday)?

Aloha! Yes, you can order a full Piña Colada cake or Key Lime Pie. Please call us at 808-923-8785 to place your order. We kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice.

Is there a view of the sunset?

Unfortunately, we don't face the ocean but offer vibrant city views, overlooking Kalakaua Avenue.

    Is there a dress code?

No there isn't a dress code. You'll see people dressed up nice and others straight off the beach

Is there a corkage fee for wines?

    $20

    Where to park?

We saw minimal street parking and a few public parking garages or lots in the distance. Just be prepared to walk.

    Is there a dress code?

    No. We were wearing shorts

Are dogs allowed on patio dining?

Aloha and thank you for your question. We do not allow dogs anywhere in our restaurant unless they are Service Dogs as per ADA.

Is there Live Music in the evening? Thanks.

Aloha, yes we do have live music everyday 5-8pm.

Can you see the Hilton fireworks from the rooftop on Friday's?

    Nope!

Where can we park to dine in at Tommy bahamas?

Aloha, we have partnered with Bank of Hawaii building across the street. The entrance to their garage is located on Beachwalk to the left. With our validation its only $7 flat fee, for up to 4 hours.

    Show jogging pants for women?

    There is a dress code.

    Are you wheelchair accessible?

Yes, there's an elevator to the right of the entrance. You go straight and it's behind the first section of clothing.

Is the restaurant baby friendly, do they have high chair?

Yes I saw another table getting a high chair for their baby.

    Where is the parking?

I parked across the street in the banc of Hawaii parking lot. It was $6 I believe.

According to the mayor starting March 6, safe access Oahu ended so does it mean we still have to show proof of vaccination cards/negative tests? Wanted to make sure before I make dinner reservations.

I think the need for vaccine cards nor negative test results is no longer required.

Going out in April, do we need reservations?

I would make reservations just to be safe since it's a popular place. At Happy Hour we just walked in with no wait.

Can I call to make a reservation because open table has none open?

    I believe so.

Do we need reservations for happy hour in the bar area?

I was able to walk in for happy hour without a reservation.

Aloha, went to book again for family coming and you no longer take reservations. So disappointing. What happened?

It's been in the news that many restaurants are no longer doing reservations due to a high rate of no shows. Very sad, but understandable for restaurants to move in this direction.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

I mentioned that it was just a general question and i wasn't coming that night. They informed me that it's validated for two hours and it's first come first serve. After the 2 hours its $14 an hour. Getting into the valet area was stressful enough as there was a car parked right before you turn and pedestrians that walk back and forth from their main driveway entrance. I also had to wait for valet for a bit too as there was 2 other cars in front of me and probably only 2 valet on duty trying to move cars forward. Reservations can be made on open table, but there was really no point to doing that since it's open seating during happy hour times. We ended up just picking a table that was in the shade, and noticed they only have their menu by QR code which is kinda annoying. The server was pretty nice tho and he brought my dog some water mid way. Their happy hour runs from 2-6 and the menu is slightly less expensive. The food was kind of standard hotel type of food and nothing really stood out. Otherwise the vibes at the restaurant was nice and i do like that they allow dogs to join you. it seems like they have live music after a certain time. I was even more annoyed and stressed with the valet when i went to pick up my car. They literally just handed me my keys. My car was parked along the wall probably 20 steps away, but they could have at least taken out my car cause it was so hard to get out, but i guess it's nice they trust that i wont bang the car in front of back of me i guess even tho im a pretty terrible parker. at the time they didn't look as busy as when i first arrived, so i dont know why they couldn't have just done the bare minimum with just pulling out my car from the stall.

The lovely gentleman in the front welcomed us in to take a look around and I asked him if I could take photos for yelp and he told me that if I was going to write a review, I had to join them. So of course, I took the invite and decided to stay for a little while. We sat at a nice area. A perfect little place. I just want to take a snapshot and keep it in my memory so I can emulate it and turn it into my home study. I could stay here forever. The vibes were on point. The server recommended drinks that he thought we would like, and we loved both of them. I don't remember what the drinks were called, but mine had a blueberry taste to it, and my friend had a mock tail, but some sort of Yuzu to it. What an amazing experience.

What surprised me most was how good the food was for the price. Usually spots with this kind of atmosphere rely on the drinks to carry the experience, but every dish actually delivered. The chicken karaage was crispy and packed with flavor, the beef takoyaki disappeared almost instantly, and the taro chips with mascarpone were such a unique combination. Between the cocktails, food, service, and atmosphere, everything just worked.
