Overall Ruvo is a great place. I go there a lot since I live within walking distance. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. Weekends there is live music which adds to the charm. The staff is super friendly and the service is great. I'm love the Pinot Noir they have. They have really delicious seasonal drinks too. The food is usually very good. I wouldn't say excellent and I've had to send things back. Sometimes their seafood dishes are fishy tasting or overcooked. But overall the food is very good. I love their flat breads and I love the gnocchi bolognese. Those are my go tos. Overall I love the place and definitely recommend it. read more

Had a bad experience with both the food and the service. We were there with 3 adults and 2 children. One of the three adult meals were good. The other two were far less than average. The presentation of the food left much to be desired. Service: My 2 year old son ordered grilled chicken from the children's menu and it was distastefully spiced. We kindly asked the waiter if we could have scrambled eggs instead. The manager came over a couple minutes later, ready for an argument. We were confused as to why she approached us with such defensiveness. We had no expectations at that time and fully intended to pay for the meal. She came over saying that we had asked to speak to her (we didn't). So, we kindly asked her the same thing we asked the waiter (if we could have scrambled eggs instead). She was clearly agitated. She replied back "Instead? No, not instead, but we can wrap up the chicken for you and you can take it home." We told her that none of us liked the chicken and there was no need to wrap it up. We said we would be happy to still pay for the meal. In the end, she charged us for both meals and never brought the dessert that was part of children's chicken dish. Needless to say, we will not be returning and would definitely not recommend this restaurant based on food and service. read more

Hostess is daffed. I have a 6pm dinner reservation and while there are available four-person tables throughout the whole restaurant;she brings me to the very back table near the men's room and the kitchen. I request another table and point to it and she says........oh we're really busy tonight and I'm like so what..... put me at this table. At which point my wife was getting visibly upset. So I acquiesced. Hostess lady.......when a Customer requests a different table, you should always do what the customer wants. Two friends and I had lunch there today for the first time. The food was excellent, and the price of the meal couldn't be beat. However, charging $2.50 for every coffee refill is outrageous, especially since the size of the cup is small to begin with! That is just not done like that anywhere else. And to add insult to injury, nowhere on the menu did it mention that extra charge. Shame on the owner for implementing such a narrow-minded and sneaky practice! This was a great place for a quick lunch stop. Cosy atmosphere with good quality food. The only downside was it was rather slow and part of the party was in a hurry (we made this known up front). I had the pleasure of having Sunday brunch at Ruvo today. My experience began with being greeted by a friendly hostess. She sat me and my two friends at a comfortable table. Ruvo has a wonder atmosphere. I then ordered the Farmer's Omelette and it was amazing. I also got a bloody mary, and I have to say it was one of the best bloody mary's I have ever had. Our server Abby was great. She knew when to come over and ask if we needed anything, but also knew when to stay away. The service was so amazing that the manager even came over to re-fill our waters. Ruvo is a great little neighborhood restaurant. I eat here frequently and the food is very consistently well made with a good presentation. The wait staff are all very friendly, competent, and attentive. The menu is diverse without being over-whelming. I often bring picky friends who ask "can you do this..." and the answer is always "yes!". The portions are generous and the specials of the day are usually very good. The fish has always been fresh and I find their red sauce to be tasty. The only thing I dislike is that it is noisy when crowded. read more

They always do their best to be unaccommodating, and nickel and dime their customers. It is always something....... Not many restaurants in Greenlawn to choose from, so I have been her a few times. It is in town and that is the best I can say about Ruvo. Had yet another negative experience today when we went for lunch, sat down at 3:31 for a lunch that has always gone till 4:00, the staff member came over to inform us that lunch is over you just missed it, but we could order from the dinner menu. I said I thought it was 4:00, and she said they changed it, so rather than accommodate us as we were one minute past the new lunch time, they disappointed us as usual. A smart business would have done the right thing, taken care of the uninformed customer with the lunch menu, and sent them away with a full stomach and the new information on the new lunch hour. Had an early Sunday dinner during a large party service and they accommodated us. The wait staff was attentive and I was surprised how quickly our salads and entrees came out along with the 50+ people they had to serve. The pasta is fresh and the sauce is authentic. Prices are very reasonable and the wine selection is excellent. They will go out of your way to make your dining enjoyable. I would recommend RUVO before any other Italian restaurant. read more

My husband and I had a very nice meal at Ruvo last Friday on the spur of the moment. Did not have a reservation but were accommodated with a nice table for two in a private corner. We started with crab cakes (always good) and the lobster mac and cheese (also good) followed by the strip steak for both of us... very tasty and nice portion size. The live music was a welcome addition to our evening. The March Madness cocktail I had (with spicy jalapeno) hit the spot. A nice evening after a long week... We will be back soon. read more

Debated how many stars to give. Always very happy with my food here. Yet I repeatedly have issues with my reservation so it's probably closer to a 3.5 - once they claimed they didn't have it down at all despite my phone call days earlier and their assurance they could take us. Another time they alternated between ignoring us as we waited for our reserved table at the bar and sporadically assuring us our table would be ready in "a few moments" for an absurd total of 45 minutes. Had they been honest, I probably would't have minded as much, but that's just ridiculous. Had I not enjoyed the company I was with, I would have left. Ruvo's is a great place for Happy Hour at the bar. The Shrimp Oreganata flatbread is delicious, as is the cold Antipasto for 2. The service at the bar and at the table is generally excellent. My main complaint is that this is an Italian restaurant that does not use any Italian spices or herbs in the food, at all. Why? Music on Thursday and Friday is not too loud, and makes a nice way to wind down. read more

We have dined at Ruvo on many occasions and have always been delighted! The ambiance and service are welcoming as a true Italian host, and the food is reminiscint of Old World Italy. The hot antipasto and cold salumi board are excellent starters along with a variety of freshly tossed salads. The shrimp and sole oreganata and shell steak entrees are both very tasty. The homemade soups are made daily with at least two classics to choose from. There are also daily specials which our server described in detail, which made them all sound enticing and delicious. Finish your meal with a rich chocolate nutella cake, classic cheese cake or sorbet or gelato on a lighter note. You will leave Ruvo feeling both satiated and well taken care of. read more

Had heard great things about Ruvo and found myself sorely disappointed after my experienced there last night. We had purchased a coupon via living Huntington. While it didn't explicitly say that early dinner ended at 6pm, when I called to make a reservation they claimed it was a misprint...fine. Where Ruvo confirmed it's 1 star rating: stale bread, rancid olive oil, dinner was out in less than 10 minutes from placing the order (!!!), and each plate no less than $27! We were in and out of the restaurant in less than 30 minutes...far from worthy of anything more than 1 star and especially the $$$ cost ratings. read more

Totally disappointed in every way. We dined here yesterday as a party of 8 for my friend's Aunt's 93rd birthday. We ordered drinks and appetizers and everything seemed to be okay. Now the bad part. We ordered our entrees and my friend's cousin specifically ordered his Sole well done. Not only did it not come this way but he didn't get his meal at all. All of the entrees came except his. We waited about 10 minutes or so because sometimes different dishes come out later. But after 10 minutes, we tried to get our waiter but he was no where to be found. My friend had to go tell the girl upfront and she finally found a manager. We explained to her that we were almost finished and one person in our party didn't get his meal yet. Instead of apologizing, all she said was "you're all not finished eating!!!" and "I'll take it off the bill". Of course you'll take it off the bill, moron, since we NEVER got it!!!! Are you kidding me? This is how you speak to customers when you effed up???? Instead of the idiot waiter coming over and explaining nicely that the entree wasn't put in and apologizing, the manager came over with a major attitude. His entree finally came with our absentee waiter and of course it wasn't well done like he asked, so he sent it back. The manager asked if he wanted to order anything else but at this point we were all finised so he ordered something to go. I order Grandma's Sunday Sauce which is Rigatoni and meatballs. How do you screw that up? Well this place did. One of my biggest pet peeves with an Italian restaurant is how they cook pasta. This place doesn't know how to. It was so overcooked that it was falling apart and on top of that it was laying in a pool of water so they don't know how to drain it properly. Also, it was so bland with absolutely no flavor at all. My friend's mom ordered a fish dish and that was overcooked and rubbery. So between the horrible food and the classless crew, we would never return. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

Or maybe because Huntington draws more people all over Long Island compared to Greenlawn. My husband and I were unimpressed by Ruvo. Other reviews online were super positive, s maybe our expectations were too high...? We arrived 15 minutes early, so the host asked us to have a drink at the bar while our table was prepared...half an hour later we were finally seated (15 minutes after our reservation), and another party of two who arrived AFTER us was seated before us. There were also plenty of open tables available while we waited, so not sure why we had to wait PERIOD! We never received bread plates but a full bread basket was on the table. Out waitress was about 80 years old and had zero personality. One of our appetizers (the arracini rice balls) were cold and in a sauce that tasted like it was from a jar. My husband had duck for dinner. Half of the skin was crispy and delicious. The other half was not cooked long enough and was fatty and inedible. For dessert, I had a banana chocolate bread pudding (sounds great, right?), and it definitely tasted like it was microwaved! parts of it were so hot, I couldn't even out it in my mouth, and then other parts were ice cold...I hate leaving a new restaurant so disappointed, but we won't be returning here, unfortunately. read more

Went here for the first time last night with my boyfriend. I got the duck, which was out of this world. My boyfriend got the salmon which he loved. For an appetizer we shared the calamari which was probably the best calamari i've ever had. Service was great, our server was very attentive but not overbearing. She recommended the ruby martini for me which was delicious. For dessert, we shared the chocolate mousse cake which was absolutely decadent!
