Firstly, service was superb! Dajuan was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The meals were large portions, but honestly the taste was not its usual quality taste. We all didn't finish our orders except for one who got pasta bolognese. That seemed to be the beat option along with the roasted chicken. The pasta dishes with chicken were too salty. The steak was extremely nervy and hard to chew. The pork chop was smothered in sauce and cheese, but apparently my husband enjoyed it. We had a 6:30 dinner reservation tonight and arrived a little early, but were seated promptly. The dining room was bustling, and we were seated on the right side in a smaller dining area that felt more intimate and, thankfully, not too noisy. We were glad we ended up sitting on that side. Warm complimentary bread and butter came out almost immediately, which is always a nice touch. I was so hungry that I started eating before remembering to snap a photo. We shared the seafood salad appetizer to start. While it was fresh, the portion could have included more seafood, as the avocado slightly overpowered the balance of the dish. For my entree, I ordered the Fresh Soft Shell Crabs Luciano and really enjoyed it. The egg-battered, pan-fried soft shell crabs were flavorful, and the garlic, lemon, white wine sauce paired really well with the capellini. It was definitely the highlight of the meal for me. Hubby ordered the Chicken Parmigiana, though it did not particularly impress him. He found the chicken was not as tender as versions he has had elsewhere and mentioned he needed to use a knife to cut it. At some of his favorite restaurants, he said the chicken is usually tender enough that it can almost be cut with just a fork. Service throughout the evening was very good. Our server, Maria, was attentive and courteous, and the bussing staff was also friendly and efficient. Another fantastic meal here in the dining room. We called ahead to secure a ressie but as it turns out we were coming in on a quiet Sunday evening during the Super Bowl game so many regulars were, no doubt, home or at a party. We were seated immediately and were provided regular and restaurant week menus. We chose to pick from the restaurant week menu and were glad we did. An appetizer, entree, and dessert for $46 is a no- brainer. An up charge for the lamb meal and a few others but definitely worth the value. Fresh bread with delicious butter was brought quickly to the table as well as a bowl of pasta with olive oil for our daughter set the evening off to a great start. Various team members came to fill a glass or clear a plate. Noise levels were moderate in the dining room where another 15 or so people were seated with ample space to move about. Great experience for my Moms 80th surprise bday party. We were looking for a place that was accommodating, nice looking, had good food, parking and wouldn't break the bank. Matteo's checked all the boxes. And the only complaint is, it was too easy. Dennis was so easy to deal with and laid back that it appeared as if he didn't care. On the contrary, I guess he's done so many of these that none of our requests were out of the ordinary and he was very accommodating. We only saw pics of the place online so we were gambling and basing our choice on reviews. Well they were right. The party was a lunch that was to start at 1:00. We were coming from the Jersey shore to set up. Surprisingly there was no traffic and we got there an hour earlier than expected (11:30). We were worried about not gaining access to the room to set up. NOPE, no issues. I met Dennis in person, very nice guy. I apologized for arriving early, he said "no problem" and we were given access to the room that was already set up. We laid out the seating arrangements, some flowers, balloons et. Just before 1:00 our guests began to arrive. My Mom arrived 1:20 and was very surprised. The service was excellent (I forget our nice, pretty servers name who was our point person), the food was great and the place looked excellent. The restaurant has almost a lodge or chalet vibe. Ample outdoor seating as well, weather permitting. We enjoyed the price fixed dinner menu. For $49.95 you get 3 courses and a glass of wine or beer. There were many choices for appetizer and entrées. I would have liked to see something chocolate added to the dessert menu (just saying). I had the salmon. It was prepared well and was a nice sized portion. For dessert I had the biscotti and cannoli cream. The cream was delicious. The biscotti was very hard. The chicken dishes was ok. I came here with a large group and it was a perfect space for such a gathering. The atmosphere was nice, not too crowded. It's a chain which I don't love but Italian always works for most people. The bar is nice when you walk in, set back with high ceiling. The menu is standard Italian fare which is quite large but mid...the baked clams were ok under seasoned and the mussels were below average but good Caesar salad and the portions were large for sharing. Since it was Long Island Restaurant Week, we ordered off that menu. There were plenty of choices and only a few upcharges. We had the minestrone soup and Mozzarella Carrozza. Both were excellent. I ordered the Casarecce alla Toscana (basically Sunday Sauce with meat), while my husband had the old standby- Chicken Parmigiana. The main courses were good and the portions huge. The dessert choices from this menu were a bit of a letdown. The vanilla ice cream was your basic faire and I did not like the biscotti. I make better ones at home, although the cannoli cream that came with the biscotti was delicious! The service was outstanding and the Matre'd and owner/manager (not sure of his title) came around a few times to check to see if everything was to our liking. Since we were also celebrating our anniversary, we made certain to book online in advance. The waiter wished us a happy anniversary on two occasions. I enjoyed the Al fresco dining but the food was solid 3.5 stars. Started out with some house red and whites. The bread was warm and good. The octopus was good but needs a bit of white beans. Also they didn't serve it for everyone. Mussels Bianca good but not memorable. The prix fixe portions were small. Calamari good, salmon portion is small. Matteo's chopped salad is good too, not memorable. The shrimp Luciano was a nice size. Aside from that we got the branzino which was big but not deboned and no grill char. I had to ask for salt and pepper. The broccolini was not memorable. The roasted potatoes on the side were pretty good I enjoyed them more than my entree lol! The pasta pescatore was good too apparently and it was all finished, no leftovers! For dessert there was tartufo and biscotti and cappuccinos. Made and presented well. Visited from California! Food was so amazing and so was the service. I went during Long Island Restaurant Week. I had the calamari for appetizer and it was so soft and crunchy, not chewy at all! Zucchini Fritti was so amazing and crunchy. My whole branzino with broccolini was the best I've ever had. I actually got everything that was recommended to me by our server Darwin! Darwin is very attentive making sure you a very well taken care of. The Tiramisu was to die for. I had to take a bite before taking a picture. I have wanted to visit Matteo's for years and finally got the opportunity last night for my sister's birthday. We made a 5:30 reservation and when walking in, I was so surprised by how beautiful the place was. This must have been a house at one point as you can see how there are different sections of the restaurant which were rooms. Beautifully done either way. Because this is on the nicer side, I was surprised to see people walking in both dressed well and for a baseball game. But I digress... For our appetizers we spilt a Caesar salad, warm mozzarella and fried zucchini. All were great aside from the zucchini which was drenched in oil. We hardly ate that at all. The menu boasts many different pasta dishes and we all enjoyed them immensely! You have the option of family size or smaller portions and we still had food to take home. My wife and I met my uncle and My Aunt for dinner as soon as I got in the place it was extremely loud now I'm young. I know it loud is this is where management fails. They set us in an area where there was a party of 10 two parties of 10 excuse me And they were so loud I couldn't hear myself think or talk to my aunt or my uncle it was very uncomfortable. The food was mediocre. It was not good. I had the rigatoni Bolognese. It was so watered down. It was like I had a little bit of sauce and the rest water Not appetizing. My wife had the eggplant Parmesan. It tasted like Stouffer's. This is what happens. I guess when these companies buy up these restaurants with with these companies and they forgot where they came from because there was a time when I went to the Mateo's 15 years ago in Long Beach not there any longer was amazing. I thought that was the experience my wife and I were gonna have I was wrong. Definitely needs a lot of talking to your staff half your staff was by the bathroom which I couldn't get to cause everybody was hanging out there. Although, at your request, management will book your dinner reservations in their main dining room (w/ picturesque fireplace), you'll likely be actually seated in the adjacent plain room - or worse, in a crappy side room with small tables and inexperienced wait staff. Happened to us twice, where we were told the sitting request "strangely disappeared" from their computers, and again on Christmas Eve because of some medical reason which we never understood and was irrelevant to our seating arrangement. After some embarrassing exchange of words with the front staff and the manager in front of other diners, we finally were seated in the plain room. Very disappointed. read more

First time here and great meal! We did not sit by the cozy fire but we sat in an area that was secluded and less crowded, which made it easy to have a conversation. For an appetizer my husband shared the lobster ravioli which was one of the pasta dishes. So good and lots of lobster filling! For dinner we got the big portion of red snapper to share. Another winner! Not a fish I normally get but was excellent. Light sauce, and the spinach with it was very nice. For dessert my husband had the chocolate cake and I had the chocolate molten lava cake. Both very rich desserts but again so delicious. We've been to the Roslyn location of Matteo's and we wanted to check out how the Huntington location was since it was LI Restaurant week. The ambiance of the restaurant was very cozy and classy. We were seated towards the front of house just to the right of the entrance. Our server was really great at making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. I got the calamari to start which was fried to perfection and super tender. For the entree I got the chicken ultimo which was a chicken cutlet in a francese sauce with cherry peppers and topped with fresh mozzarella. It was perfectly balanced in flavor as the heat from the cherry peppers worked well with the melty cheese and the chicken in the citrusy sauce. For dessert I got the biscotti with the cannoli cream. I would say this biscotti is more on the soft baked side and went well dipping it in the creamy cannoli cream. Looking forward to returning again. read more

Let me begin with saying the entire ambiance of this place is gorgeous. They have a beautiful outdoor setting when you roll up, which I can only imagine in the warmer months this place is perfect. There is a huge bar that you can sit and wait for your reservations or just enjoy dinner there with drinks at your finger tips. The service at the bar was a little slow when I was there but not a problem I wasn't in any sort of rush. We got some wine, waited for our other party memebers and just chilled out til they were ready for all 8 of us. The dining are is lively, loud and just buzzing with conversation, not overwhelming music which I do not like. Our waiter was great he knew how to interrupt politely in order to take orders for food and drinks and swooped in with excellent timing to check our needs. Up rather quickly, maybe not hot enough on arrival to the table idk, I'm no chef. All in all it was a great experience everyone else seemed to enjoy their food and we all had leftovers which is great, grandma will be happy today when I hand em over lol. Went to Matteos for the first time since being remodeled last night and wanted to give it a good experience with my girl, and it was a decent time out, nothing crazy good or wild to write home about. Walking in the place looks gorgeous, everything brand new, colorful, bright, and spacious. They did a very nice job with the decor inside the restaurant, and we were seated in a nice intimate corner away from a lot of the tables and people. Our waiter spoke very quietly, we could barely hear him when he spoke, and was very matter of fact about orders, not very personable, I like to chat with servers and waiters, but he would just take the order, nod, and be on his way. Not very personable, not rude, but it was noticeably awkward. The Ceasar Salad was alright, fresh lettuce, light dressing, and it grew on me as I ate it. Not impressed in the beginning, but then satisfied by the end of it. The Coconut Tini was great, nicely mixed, good sipper, and I had the Chocolate Tini for Dessert, which wasn't as good, lil too boozy but still alright. The Bufala Mozz was OK, the Proscutto was tough underneath it, but it was a good combo to split, nice apps. I had the Chicken Scattitore, which was really good. Fresh chicken, good sauce, filling, and enjoyable. My date had a Pasta dish she was not thrilled with, didn't wow her and she left a bunch over. We split a Tartufo for dessert and had some wine each as well. The manager came over to check on us, but also, like the server, walked away while we were trying to have a quick convo, so, yeah. We decided 3 stars between us, one of my more harsh ratings as it is borderline 4 so I would give it 3.5. Our 1st visit to Matteo's Trattoria. The place is beautiful & service was amazing. Our waiter Jason was on top of everything! We started off with two appetizers peppers & warm mozzarella balls were delicious. Zucchini Fritter were plain (not seasoned) & should be served with side of sauce. The main course was under cooked. My husband had Salmon in a balsamic vinaigrette which was supposed be cooked well done & it wasn't. The Black Ink Squid was served with garlic & tomatoes that should have been cooked & also wasn't not seasoned. Hopefully we had a off night due to a big party going on. What happens when management fails a resturant? You arrive and after being seated you wait almost 25 minutes for a glass of water from an apologetic waiter saying he's all alone on outside seating because last night wasn't busy and he was only one appointed to the 8 tables with customers scattered over the 1200 square foot patio. Then followed up by apologies when our regular drinks took 10-15 more minutes after. The apologies continue when we had to put our entire order in under pressure bc they had 65 guests for a wedding basically keeping what was an understaffed resturant on a Saturday night too busy. Our meat/cheese platter although good but ordered for two lacked the servings for 2 of all the items leaving us to decide who gets the item with one or splitting the item in half with no plates given to eat off of .Although the ambiance was good and we were enjoying ourselves company we couldn't help to notice someone rudely commenting to the only staff member how lamps weren't on the table and than walk away in an angrily fashion. Our date nights enjoyable conversation switched from fun to wondering if anyone was going to bring water refill or possibly another drink . The couple sitting next to us overheard and said good luck they got their bottle of wine after their food and no one came to ask for dessert order so they drank their wine after dinner as dessert. Now our main corse comes a my seasoned fries were only seasoned on a few next to a perfectly cooked steak half eaten because wasted do to lack of seasoning on that as well. We finally had it bc after showing displeasure for fries that never came till we were ready for check we asked for manager. Guess who it was the man being rude to waiter about lamps when we first arrived. We explained our experience up to that moment kindly and his reply was him explaining how night before he had no one outside and tonight they had wedding it luck of the draw and I quote " it is what it is" and in a rude fashion says whatcha want me to do buy yah dessert or one of your entrees. I went from an ongoing apologetic waiter who was thrown to the dogs to a rude and clearly incapable manager. He did comp our bill which by no means is what we wanted so I'll answer his rude comment now since he walked away from table . How about staff you restaurant properly knowing you have a 65 person party in advance instead of being rude to your staff jump in and serve water to the 8 tables of people looking around and seeing if anyone needs anything to help an expensive dinner go smooth for "your guests" Customers don't need to know your problems that u caused bc of bad judgement we want timely service and properly cooked and seasoned food try saying how can I make this right we want to see you again not "it is what it is" we will never go back again the worst customer service we have ever experienced read more

Pretty good deal if you ask me! However years ago pre pandemic was it was a 3 course meal offered for $42 for dinner in the city. We had the calamari, burrata, stuffed mushrooms and stuffed clams for apps then salmon with spinach, spicy rigatoni, shrimp and white linguini pasta. Had my rehearsal dinner here last week and was very happy with the service, room, and food (as were my guests)! We had a nice private room that held 40 people with plenty of space. Service: Vince and Jose were amazing and made sure everyone always had wine in their glass and was taken care of. Dennis, the manager, came to introduce himself and make sure we had everything we needed. They even packed up the extra food for us to bring home, which I was not expecting at all. Food: the food was fantastic! Our guests are still raving about the food, and honestly was better than our wedding food. We had a package that we selected burrata, calamari, and Caesar salad to start, penne ala vodka, and then chicken francaise, eggplant Parm and a pork chop with roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts. The appetizers and main dishes were all served family style and they was so much food! They also served various cakes family style for dessert (cheesecake, red velvet, and chocolate). Dined here for dinner with my mom and some friends. Our dinner reservation wasn't until 7, but happy hour is from 5-7. My mom and I arrived a little early so we decided to join in on happy hour. Beers are $5, cocktails/martinis are $8, and bar bites range in price. I got my usual Blue Moon. It was the perfect temperature. My mother ordered a cocktail that wasn't on the happy hour menu, and the bartender still gave it to her at the happy hour price. It was now 7, And the hostess brought us to our table. We had a nice long table by the Incased fireplace. Very nice atmosphere. We all came for the price fixed menu. 3-course meal for about $30 + tax&tip. Not a bad deal at all! On to the food... We started with some warm bread and butter. The bread and butter was nothing special. And loaf of bread with some unseasoned butter. I was craving some dipping oils or something. For my appetizer I chose the burrata. So creamy and super fresh. It was accompanied by some tomatoes, arugula and a balsamic finish. For my entree I and Shrimp Luciano. It was shrimp in a tomato based sauce with spinach. It was tasty. However, my mother ordered the same thing. Her sauce was thicker and had a different and better flavor than my dish. Hers had hints of red pepper. I only got to try hers because she didn't eat her veggies..I did! For dessert I chose the cheesecake. I wasn't a huge fan. The menu stated a strawberry drizzle and it came with a caramel one. Our server was great! He was very patient with our big table of 9. He even did separate checks for all of us. Bathrooms were clean. The feel of this restaurant is very nice. Absolutely perfect for a date night or a girls night. read more

Picked this restaurant for a special occasion and really loved the decor/layout of the restaurant, but in the end, I was disappointed in the service. First, we had called well ahead to arrange two tables, and the day of the reservation, the hostess had only one table, so we had to wait for them to find/set up two. Our server was pretty friendly, and he recommended the veal. I will say the food was delicious--especially the calamari, mussels, penne vodka and linguini with clam. I appreciated that almost every dish had an individual portion size and a family size. However, I really was not a fan of the veal--the prosciutto made the entire dish overly salty. I would say we didn't have to wait too long for the appetizers to come, nor did we wait too long between the appetizers and the entrees, but there was an exorbitant amount of time between the main courses and the dessert. They left us one spoon short for dessert, and when someone in my party asked another server if she could have a spoon, she got a curt "No" in return. We thought the server was joking, but he never returned. At the end, we also noticed they overcharged us for a few extra beverages that we ordered but never got. Our server even immediately realized his mistake, and he went off to remedy the check, but he took so long that the manager came over to us to ask if there was anything he could help with (turns out they needed the table for another reservation so the manager was trying to hurry us along). My parents always rave about this place & their happy hour. I finally got to check it out. We usually go to happy hour at Brio but after finding Matteo's my parents love it here Price is on the higher side compared to Brio. However, their food is amazing. We got 4 different plates- meatballs, pizza, short rib slider & calamari. Their meatballs are super soft and flavorful. The ribs tasted a but burnt but the meat was soft & the calamari actually had squid in it but what I was really wowd by was their margherita pizzette. The cheese was amazing and the dough was perfectly soft and crispy. Drinks wise I got the margarita and sangria. Sangria was too sweet for my taste but margarita was good Would give it a 5 stars but the service was slightly lacking. They weren't rude like some people said but also not the friendliest. We had a great experience at Matteo's! I had three cocktails, two of them were okay, the other was fantastic. Our food was delicious. We started with calamari and mussels, both fantastic. I had spicy rigatoni which was not the best I've ever had but absolutely delicious regardless. My husband had the chicken ultimo which he LOVED. Star of the show was shockingly my dessert which was an amaretto sorbet with a toasted coconut topping. I've been thinking about the dessert for days. We had a 6:30 reservation and were told we could only sit at the bar or outside. It was dark and windy and 50 degrees so I was shocked outside was even an option. No one else was seated outside so I don't think it was a true option, I just don't think they wanted to tell us they didn't have a table for us. I've never had a reservation and was then told I had to sit at the bar. So that's why I took a star off. We enjoyed our time at the bar and the bartender was wonderful but sitting at the bar just wasn't what we had in mind for the evening. We will be back though. We did come for restaurant week which could be why it was packed on a Tuesday! read more
