Ry's has been my go-to spot since I moved to the Sewell area. It's close to my house and we can always count on a stocked variety of our favorite bagels (everything, blueberry, sesame). The bagels are good, especially the next day. I know, weird right? For some reason when eaten that day, they taste like they need to be baked longer. But when I take home a half dozen and toast one up the next morning it's perfection. The outside is crusty and the inside soft, but not too soft. There are a lot of seats and it's a decently sized bagel place, but be prepared for a wait. I've waited up to a half hour in a line out of the door a few weeks ago. It's definitely hit or miss though. This past week between Christmas and New Years it wasn't too bad, I'm thinking because the college crowds are home for the holidays. Always a friendly staff and a lot of cream cheese options. My husband always says they skimp on the pork roll with only one slice when he gets egg and pork roll on a toasted bagel. Good luck getting your food in under a half an hour. The worlds slowest and most incompetent service. When you actually get your food, your lucky if it is even the right order. After my experience today, I have finally felt the need to write this review. I ordered a pork roll egg and cheese (with two eggs) on a veggie bagel, not toasted and to go. Not only did I still wait 25 minutes between the long line and my food, but when I got home, the order was a single egg. I have been a resident of Glassboro my entire life and was an avid bagel lover. I loved coming here back when it was Don's Bagels; especially over the summer, my swim team friends and I would come here many times a week after swim practice over the summer. However, not only has the quality of the bagels gone down, but the service is becoming unbearable to the point where I sporadically come back. Today, I thought I would give it the go again, but was still disappointed. The big problem has been with the growth and change within Glassboro itself. As Rowan has been expanding exponentially, the accommodations of Ry's has not. Yes, they opened a new business on Rowan's campus, but that has mainly gotten Ry's more business for the Rowan students that either 1.) did not know the bagel shop existed in Double Tree or 2.) did not have access to get to the other location. I was a student at Rowan and lived in the Whitney Center right above the new store, and the service/wait there was even unbearable. There were always lines out the door nearly every day. The business needs to invest in at least another register for both locations; it is too slow with current operations. I cannot tell you how many people I have seen walk out the establishment because of how long they had to wait. Many of these people may be from out of town visiting their child too. Ry's need to figure out a new game plan with Rowan's expansion and their growth of customers. The goal for Rowan is to reach 20,000 students by 2020. Will they be able to handle this? read more

These were simple orders too. we always got refunded but missing these items for my family was had to deal with.Sorry kids there's no cream cheese for your bagels today .They do call and tell you if they don't have a item and then they forget all the cream cheese that you ordered. they are just rolls and barely resemble what a real bagel is but that is ok, the bagels are good there.If you order through a delivery service i suggest you don't. they might do better with in person orders cause nobody can read there. read more

They will make you stand there until they decide to call out your order that will be sitting behind them for 5 minutes and if you inquire about the order before that time they get an nasty attitude with you and say you got to wait. I have been going to Ry's bagels since before it was Ry's bagels. It's always our favorite breakfast spot. I can't say enough good things about this place. In a world that has become so impersonal, there are little gems out there that take you back to a time when people actually took pride in their work. There's just something about the feeling of a family owned business that treats you more like a friend than a customer. They remember your name and your favorites. Everyone is always so polite and friendly, and the food is top notch. Everything is made to order and I've never been disappointed. Cute local place! You can see pictures of customers with their bagels from around the world on the walls. We have been customers since by oldest was a baby (14 years). We love this place. I always order a toasted cheese bagel with sun dried tomato cream cheese. If I am really hungry, I will get the combo meal (egg, cheese and bacon on toasted cheese bagel with hashbrown and drink). My daughters usually order the same thing. Sometimes they switch up their bagels. Many bagel flavors to choose from. Sometimes they run out of the cheese bagels which is disappointing. But, that just means I have to try one of the other ones. read more

I want to like this place - I really do. They're local, huge supporters of the community, but Lord their food is awful. The bagels are tough, often dull and flavorless. I had the everything toasted and the onion toasted (came out char-burnt). How is an everything bagel flavorless? I went back out of convenience and a bit of "shop locally in family-owned establishments" ideology. I ordered turkey bacon and mayo on an everything. The bagel was flat (in flavor), the turkey was ICE cold, the bacon was paltry and of the cheapest quality. Terrible - and at over $5 for just the sandwich and 25 minutes from walking in the door to having the sandwich ready? Maybe the college kids don't know good food - but I sure do! ****Edit: Speaking of college kids, about an hour after I wrote this, a college student (who gives Taco Bell five stars, but Ry's bagels only three) decided to email me trying to negotiate/debate this review. I don't even know how to review this place. I ordered a gluten free bagel from the girl behind the counter working veryyyyyy slowly. Thank goodness she wasn't the one preparing the bagels. I wasn't sure if I should feel bad for her or be frustrated. I was both. Ordered my bagel, then waited, and waited. Only to have the owner (manager?) come out and tell me they were out of the GF bagels. Though I asked before ordering and paying. So, maybe as a "townie" I am a little biased towards this place. When it was Don's it was the place to go for lunch in high school, and in college, it was my hangover cure. Now, it is my wait-in-line-for-twenty-minutes-for-pick-up on a Saturday morning place. Why do I keep coming back? Oh yeah, it's local, and I DO enjoy their bagels. I know what a gooooooooooooooood NY style bagel is, and although these ain't it, I will happily settle. Yes, the service is slow, they need to work on that. And I highly suggest a separate line for folks who called ahead so they can pick up their stuff and go. I was very disappointed by the service I received. My friend and I came for breakfast with a gift certificate for $10 off a $20 order. The gift certificate was purchased from a legitimate website and was valid. Upon seeing the gift certificate, we were immediately told that it wouldn't be accepted because it "cut into profits" and "cleared too much product." The owner, or shift manager (I couldn't tell), had a hostile tone to his voice when my friend and I questioned his ridiculous reasoning for not accepting our gift certificate. Formerly Don's Bagels. I ordered whitefish salad on a sun dried tomato bagel. The whitefish salad isn't very good here, and I don't think I would order it again. The bagels are pretty tough, I have definitely had better. They do have interesting homemade cream cheeses, a buch of different flavors (and I like that they don't sell them in gignatic tubs like some other bagel shops). Service at the coutner was friendly, but I thought it took a while for my lunch to come out considering they just slapped some whitefish salad on a bagel with lettuce tomato and onion with a bag of chips. Reviews are a funny thing online. Some people enjoy writing reviews and detailing their experience regardless of where they go. The majority of people choose to write a review when their experiences are disappointing. Personally, I believe the reviews to be true - their food does take a while to prepare. I don't mind this because it gives me time to drink coffee for a bit and share conversation. I'm not in a rush when I go. Only once have I experienced a dry, tough and seemingly stale bagel. There was only two left of the flavor I ordered at noon, so perhaps it was six hours old. I really didn't mind - if I did - I would have said something and I'm sure they would have remade it. I grew up eating Don's bagels - was upset when they closed for a short bit, and I was ecstatic to learn that the same place reopened with a new name... I'm assuming the previous owner was Don - I still see him there quite often when I visit. This place is one of the small local gems that I like to show family and friends whom visit from out of state. The service is always friendly and polite, the different flavors of coffee they offer are always excellent. They have a variety of available ingredients, and I think that's really neat. Their prices are reasonable - they could easily charge a dollar or two more for their sandwiches - but they don't - the prices are cheap for a sandwich. I would have offered five stars, however, this is why I gave four. Being that this is one of my favorite places, there are a few things that I'd like to see. I would like to see them offer real home fries versus a fried patty that is similar to McDonalds. I'd like to see thicker bacon that isn't as crispy - I wouldn't be surprised if they use the pre-fried bacon anyone can buy at a grocery. I'd also like to see a slightly better quality sausage. I'm not a fan of sausage patties. It's a short list, and I wouldn't mind paying extra. The food is still good if they get your order right. I made what I was getting clear and they still brought out the wrong thing and it was cold. I've gotten egg and cheese sandwiches a few times now and they always seem to be more bagel and ketchup than anything else. They must use only one egg, last time I ordered I didn't even think they put any egg on because it was such a thin, little piece. However I just feel like they're so skimpy on the cream cheese. Felt a little scammed considering flavored is extra but they barely put any on. Not impressed at all. The bagel was extremely dense and the fixings are always lacking in quantity. I have been there multiple times with friends and I always regret it but only go for the company of my friends. I can't count how many times I've been in there and the woman behind the counter that takes your order and gets your bagels is just not friendly very abrupt almost impatient like. I'm not sure why I keep going back when there are other bagel shops around. I get we all have something going on in our lives but this is dealing with the public and customers who come in to purchase your products . Bring your winter coat! This little bistro does not believe in using heat. The front door swings open and cold air blasts everyone in the restaurant. Most likely a simple repair. There are chairs that wobble making for a potentially dangerous situation. Time to update the furniture. The most unnerving aspect of this establishment is my concern about health laws. This appears to be a family run business with babies and toddlers moving in and out of the kitchen area. Does the Board of Health allow diapered babies near food prep?? Is it safe to allow toddlers (barefoot) to roam in and out of the kitchen? Once a delightful bagel place now in need of a major overhaul along with a need for following health and safety rules. Nasty. Flies everywhere. Halfway toasted bagels everytime, unless you get double toasted... Then it's just burnt. Bagels sit out overnight, we were at the sushi place next door one night and looked in the window. We counted approximately 10 flies buzzing around one morning.
