I'm writing about the location at Rowan university. Understand it's a college town place but the bagels are low quality at this location. The bagels seem store bought, but Poor quality store bought... like peperidge farm is an ok store brand, but these were worse than that... possibly aldi brand.. idk but they were tasteless. AND they were over priced. Cmon we are poor college students. Don't overcharge for bagels we can just buy at a food store. read more

This place is a bit odd. I have been to a lot of bagel establishments and I genuinely do not like this one. I came around noon, ordered an everything bagel, and a french vanilla coffee. The bagel was stale and chewy. My iced coffee was so syrupy I took two drinks and had to toss it. The place has a funny atmosphere. It seemed like it was a nice mom and pop place maybe 10 years ago but they have not updated recently and they need to. Go to Dunkin Doughnuts, better bagels and coffee. read more

Well, I'm a current Rowan University student who knows that a good bagel is, and these do no cut it. The bagels are tough and stale. The service is horrendous with miserable people working the counter. I tried going here about a week ago before my 8 am class. They are suppose to open at 7, so when I got there at 7:30 and the door was locked I was very annoyed. I knocked and knocked because I saw someone in the back room who just ignored me. I am not a fam of Dunkin Donuts bagels, but I recommend them 100% over Rys bagels. Just skip this place and go right to Dunkin. read more

Just got breakfast sandwiches here. My bacon, egg & cheese had overdone rubbery eggs and that really thin precooked bacon. My husband's steak & egg was not edible. He pulled what looked like an uncooked piece of Steak 'um off and said it was horrible. We asked for toasted bagels & they weren't. They also had a strange, sweet taste. I have to tell you this is the worst experience I have ever had in my life. I ordered a tray of bagels and asked to have them to cut in half and they said they can't do that after spending $39 on a bagel tray for my sons birthday party. While I was waiting I was the only person in the bagel shop. I decided to order a pork roll egg and cheese on a toasted bagel while I was waiting. I was the only person in the bagel shop. I paid for my bagel and the tray of bagels that I just purchased for my sons birthday party. The girl came out from the back and said number 18 and I said I believe that's me is it a pork roll egg and cheese? She replied yes! I must say... Her tone was not in the most pleasant manner. She said "do you have your ticket" I said I'm sorry I threw the receipt away. She pulls the bag out of my hand and said I can't give it to you because you were supposed to keep your ticket. I said I am the only person in here. She said well.. next time you must keep your ticket. I was so furious at the situation that just happened after spending $40 and a bagel shop I decided to call the owner. At least now I know where the girl gets her attitude from. I stated to the owner I've been going to this bagel shop for years and I've never been treated this way. He responded to me if you have been coming to the shop for years you would know the procedure. I will never return to the shop. I will make sure I tell everyone I know not to go to the bagel shop as well. Rude people and just flat out bad customer service. You may ask why have I been going there for years? The reason is it is the closest bagel shop to my house. I will now drive 20 minutes away from my house to get a bagel not to deal with ignorant people. I am now looking for a bagel place so I can go to my sons birthday party and not be embarrassed by having a " Leftover Christmas tray displaying the bagels in the month of February. I was in the area and discovered this place. Considering I was hungry I stopped in. Amazing bagels! I ordered a wheat toasted bagels with veggie cream cheese. Incredible. I am not sure how others are rating buy the bagels are fresh as wheel as is the cream cheese. I will be coming back! My husband and I were rushed for time on a Saturday morning we were trying to go out for breakfast as early as we could. On Friday I checked their website and they opened at 7. We got there a few minutes after 7 and not open. Bummer. We could have been done eating at Angelos by then :(. At least they put a sign on the door. read more

Damn, a rough crowd. I've been getting bagels there and sandwiches without problems. No long waits and service is always been pleasant. Do they have the world 's best bagels....come on its Glassboro!! Their prices are reasonable and have a decent selection of bagels. Yeh, go to Dunkin Donuts but make sure you understand the server and watch how they make your bagel. Sweep up dirt and pick up with gloves on and then prepares your bagel with the same gloves. Yummy! We enjoyed Rys bagels even though it was very crowded and there was a decent wait. What do you expect for a weekend when the college kids have binged on booze the night before? If you can't tolerate the young kids go elsewhere, just remember you were young once too. read more

Good bagels at a reasonable price. I have gotten them from the shopping plaza in Glassboro for the past few years and they are a tasty treat. In South Jersey finding a quality bagel is challenging, bur Ry's is up to the task. There is a smaller outlet in the Rowan University shopping area but their hours are varied based on the school schedule. I would imagine very busy during the school year but haven't been in there yet. The main store has very tasty bagels and assorted sandwiches. I would recommend them. read more

I mainly use the store located on Rowan's campus. Happy that they accept boro bucks and probably 75% of my boro goes to them. Bagels are delicious. Coffee could be better but I'm not complaining. Prices are fair for a mom and pop bagel shop. Service is always great and the atmosphere is comfortable. read more

HORRIBLE Customer Service. The young man at the counter can bag bagels and that's about it. The credit card scanner didn't work (not his fault), and he scanned and re-scanned and re-scanned my card, fussed with the machine, scanned and scanned and fussed, etc . Then, without saying anything to me, he just walked away into the back --- (hello...I'm the customer....) I'm waiting....by now it was 15 minutes and I was going to be late to work. I called to the back and said that I had to go, and he came up front. I made a suggestion to temporarily solve the problem, and was on my way. I was late to work. I later called and spoke to the manager, who was peeved that I would insult his son (I didn't know it was his son, but the kid didn't do right, regardless of who he is). I see where the son learned his (lack) of Customer Service skills. Dad truly does not care about the customer. He doesn't get that his and his son's total lack of customer skills guarantees a lose-lose outcome. The customer loses, the bagel shop loses. He could have said, thanks for the feedback, and I hope you'll try us again, and that it will be better. WOW, that's so much more powerful than his actual petty response. If he considered the customer at all, this could have turned out quite differently. In his eyes, the customer is always WRONG, and he doesn't consider that maybe his son has something to learn, if he's going to deal with customers in the future. I suppose I could have been nicer in talking to the dad, but he just can't handle anything unpleasant, and certainly has no concept of how to make the situation right, so it could be a win-win. That's Sales/Service 101. They are at a convenient location, but their level of service is a major inconvenience. If they ever decide to improve their service, I'll try them again. Despite my negative review, I would like to see a local business succeed. But if they fail, we will know why. Service, plain and simple. Okay, I go to rys at least once a week (the one on Rowan's campus). I fucking love their cheddar bagel. It is the kind of place you could go to no matter what the mood: drunk at 3am, Sunday waking up at 2pm, rushing to class on a weekday morning, or just bored and want drown in some bagels, go on in. Also A+ tattooed worker there. I would definitely let him put some cream Cheese on my bagel if you're picking up what I'm putting down. read more

I've been to rise bagels five or six times now the last two times the bagels were flat more like dense hockey pucks, they did not have the normal plumpness and chewy center. I don't know if Ry is on vacation or sold the business, whoever is in charge of making the bagels he spent a little more time on quality control. For that reason just to stars. read more

I guess you can't please everybody..... I have never posted a review for this site about any restaurant, but after seeing the maligning posts written here, felt the need to. Normally, my opinion is usually low of people who take the time to write these reviews. If you like it, you go home satisfied and forget it. If you don't, you get on the web. This makes the reliability of the source somewhat suspect. Regardless, and to be somewhat hypocritical. Those who complain about the lack of ambiance..... To be sure, this place is lacking that, but then, you have to pay for the ambiance, and I would rather just pay for the food. The service.... If you want a fast breakfast, there are many fast food restaurants in Glassboro. Fast means lower quality food in my book. Also, doesn't it bug anyone else that even the bad reviewers acknowledge that the store is packed most of the time. Waiting because there are so many customers means that the food is good, not bad. Now to my experiences at Ry's. Originally, I would purchase a bacon, egg and cheese on a toasted bagel. A good sandwich, but too high a proportion of carbs for my dietary needs. I then requested that the egg, bacon and cheese be doubled on the sandwich (buy two sandwiches, put all ingredients on one bagel). The management had no problems with this request and the result is awesome! (they give me the extra bagel wrapped separately) It is one of the best breakfast sandwiches that I have ever had. I continually return for this. So, if you do happen to visit the establishment, don't expect a candle lit dinner, don't expect that they will drop everything for you and not serve the customers who have come before you, but if you have the wherewithal to spend a little extra for breakfast, try the doubled bacon, egg and cheese (not a menu item). I was a regular at Ry's Bagels for quite a while. But after waiting in a 20minute line to pay for a bagel that I had ordered 10-15 minutes beforehand, I will never be returning. This is the third time that I had to stand in line at Ry's while my order got cold. Upon my last visit, I decided that I no longer wanted the cold bagel and instructed the associate of my decision. I was met with a smug look & sour attitude(not an apology for the unreasonable wait). I will never be returning to this establishment. 27 minutes for two stale bagels to get "toasted" with cream cheese. i tried to call ahead. i called 7 times with no answer. I asked them if their phone was broken and they said "if it's busy in here, we don't answer." it wasn't that busy. In fact, after I left, i called again. There were zero people in line when i left. I've been a Ry's bagel goer so long that I know it as Don's bagels. So I believe if you should take anyone's word seriously it should be mine. I'd like to say that I really love bagels but for what Dons is they are mediocre. I will still go there because they are the closest place. I'd like to say though that their service is very hit or miss. Two days now I've tried calling to see about what bagels they had left. Both times after calling more than twice they have not answered the phone. Along with this Ive also come across many other service issues. Like always forgetting my hashbrown besides a select few times and refusing to remake my friends drink when she had said it was not what she ordered. So if you're looking for good service do not come here. If you need a bagel though I guess it's cool. Will still eat their bagels in future but will not be happy about it. It's basically Don's Bagels with a new name, same mediocre bagels and sometimes painfully slow service. In a pinch, it's ok.

This place sucks. Online it says they open at 7am, on the window of the shop it says they open at 8am daily, neither of which are true. I came on a Sunday at 8:20 and the place was closed. As a north jersey native, I have never heard of a bagel store opening as late as 8am, but to lie about opening at 8 on top of that, is simply absurd. As for their bagels (assuming you can actually access their store given their limited hours), they are mediocre at best and the same goes for the quality of their meats. The only reason this place is in business is because there are no competing bagel shops in the immediate area and college kids have limited access to transportation. read more

Their bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich was amazing!! GREAT PRICES!!!!!!! However, the reason for my 3 stars is the older woman at the counter who I believe may be the owner or a manger. She was EXTREMELY rude to the other employees right in front of the customers. Very unprofessional. Also, when I asked for a cream cheese that was not in the fridge I seemed to have inconvenienced her to ask a staff member if there were any in the back. Someone needs to straighten her out!! I have gotten bagels at Ry's many times. While I do enjoy the bagels, the service could be a lot better. On the occasions that I have gone in, and gotten food to go, the wait has always been pretty long expect to be there at least 15-20 minutes. Since the wait is so long, I have ordered ahead a few times for pickup. Every time I have done this, part of the order has been wrong. The most recent time, the entire order was wrong. I will not be going back to Ry's for a while. read more

I used to come to this bagel shop back when it was Don's and the quality was much better. The bagels are flavorless (regardless of what flavor you choose) and often way under cooked. I keep wanting to give Ry's a chance, because it is so close to my house, and we have a shortage of bagel places in the area. Yesterday was the last shot I was going to give them. The everything bagels had minimal topping on them, and were so bland. The bagel was almost white, and it was questionable if it was cooked all the way. We asked for our bagels toasted, which we didn't get. The hashbrowns we ordered had the opposite problem. They were overdone and looked burnt. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more
